This place has been around for sometime because they are excellent at what they do. They have a good variety of grinders, sides (including homemade salads), and drinks (both fountain and bottled). The dining room was smaller, but we went a bit later in the afternoon and didn't have to wait very long. Customer service STINKS. Butchs Grinder has always had exceptional, taste and quality. It's great for an office party or just a quick lunch break. However, on my recent visit the service was sub par. The woman at the counter was so unhappy and difficult to deal with. I am literally giving you money for an overpriced (but tasty) sand-which. The least you can do is smile and treat your customers with respect and sincerity. If being rude and not wanting to deal with people is your thing, stay in the back. I wish delivery service was available so one wouldn't have to deal with the F grade customer service. read more

First timer here and I always drive by this place. It's a Sunday afternoon so I said what the heck I'll check it out today. Glad I did, it was very tasty. The hot meatball and cheese sub was a good size I got the large. Decent pricing too. When I walked in the aroma was crazy I smelled all the goodness right away and couldn't wait to get home. The food was good but the line was 45 minutes long. Owner was so mean and rude to her staff and she cussed in front of customers. She will always get business because food is good and the history of faithful locals but she truly needs to be humbled. Customers should speak up because staff are too afraid. I don't care how amazing these sandwiches are, customer service matters and how you treat your employees is huge to me. This place is normally excellent, especially their butchies steak, but the past few times I have been in it has been awful. I called to let them know about my unhappiness, and I was told that they had the meat frozen and were quickly trying to unfreeze it, and that's why the sandwich wasn't up to par. They made excuses and didn't want to do anything about it. It's usually a great sandwich, but they seemed desperate to sell sandwiches instead of making it properly. We don't live around here and go out of our way to come and get a sandwich, but it doesn't look like we will be doing that any longer since these sandwiches aren't cheap, either. Today I went away from the norm(turkey avocado on squaw) and ordered the egg salad on the best squaw around... let me tell you- it did not disappoint! A man in line told me he has been coming since 2007 and that is his go to so i went with it and I'm sure glad I did. Not too mushy, not at all dry. Your basic mom and pop sandwich shop. I stop through when I am hungry and close by, but I wouldn't call Butch's a must do once in your life destination. Simple old fashioned sandwiches, made to order to your specs. Good bread, pre-shredded lettuce, decent quality meats. The 8" is fine for moderate appetites. I got their take on pastrami recently, and while they offered to make it with pickles and mustard, I tried the house version. Merely my preference mind you, but I should have ordered what I wanted. My mother's tuna salad was interesting as they used the same shredded lettuce. However, I ate the leftovers and it was simple but very good. Why only 3 stars? Because the menu is a bit limited, and I think there are better options for sandwiches in town (not Delia's). I would go back sometime, but I don't crave anything there. read more

I've come here a few times I usually get the corned beef with swiss combo. It leaves a lot to be desired the meat isn't top quality but it's good enough and they don't use much of it but it's okay when I don't want subway. Went in to grab a couple sandwiches but realized their power was out due to the riverbed fire. Was assured the meat and cheeses were edible but it was NOT it stinks like bad red meat and the cheese is soft..gross. They didn't even add condiments like mustard?? I asked for just the sandwich this time and was charged $1.50 for cheese...So just the sandwich cost $10.25 instead of the $8.75 for the combo. You would think they would've advised a returning customer but instead they kept it to themselves and come off as dishonest.. What a rip off! read more

I came in for lunch 12/3/24 as I heard about it many times from other colleagues. I arrive walk in and not greeted which is fine because it probably was a lunch hour drop in. It was my turn next and the lady walks by and says she'll be with me shortly she just had to ring up a couple gentlemen. It ends up being about 6-7 people. I wait patiently as another 2 customers come in. A lady from the back (nose septum) comes out and asked the 2 ladies what would they like, as if she didn't see myself and another lady standing in line. I won't make it about race . However the lady and I that were there said nothing and waited patiently so now I've been here about 15 mins and I'm still waiting. As I look up to the sky the other lady that came from the back said who's next . As I walk to the front the First Lady who greeted me which I believe is the cashier/ owner (possibly) and says she dosent know what your here for you have to tell her. I reply, "well since I've been in here you didn't say anything to me but that you'll be with me in a moment after you help the young men. She then looked at me in a crazy way. Ma'am please treat all your guest that come in to eat the same. The lady behind me and I had more than enough patience and that customer service need to be better. This was a not so good experience. The decor ....... Meh however I ordered pastrami sandwiches they were decent. Would I ever go back .......NO will I tell my friends and colleagues to go here......... NO . This was not a good experience I spent 15 mins of my 30 min lunch waiting for an order that I ordered over the phone an hour 45 mins prior. No thank you read more

This place has been my go to spot for grinders for over 20 years. Great employees and killer food. Normally I get the 6 inch capicola and salami and a macaroni salad yummmmm. Their grinder bread is soft and just a little salty, perfect! When I'm feeling indulgent their German chocolate cheesecake or their carrot vake are both phenomenal! Only reason they get a 4 and not a 5 is because I tried their tuna once and found it VERY salty.... like inedible salty. Other than that I love this place. read more
