The service is super-friendly and helpful in choosing the right beers. I'm a sours fan so the "Fatal Bite" was a great suggestion. I also had the pumpkin ale which came with a sugar and cinnamon rim. A perfect fall treat. The menu looked really good with a lot, but not too many choices. (Think Cheesecake Factory!) I did peek around and The Mac and cheese mountain (with your choice of protein, sauces and add ons) was just that. Huge! The loaded potato skin looked delicious and they had a creamy broccoli cheese soup for the soup of the day. Great service, delicious variety of beers and warm, cozy fall food. Highly recommend this little stop on Main Street in Butler.

Walked in around lunch on a Friday. Plenty of seating, and we found Parking on the street right outside. Restrooms clean, street traffic a bit noisy, but still enjoyable atmosphere. Staff very friendly and quick to provide service. A beer I wanted to try was our, but no worries. Flight can be as few or as many as you'd like. Which I appreciate. 2 to 3 is good for me! 4 is pushing it lol Food was great. Got a chicken salad with fries. Everything came out quick and hot. Would definitely dine here again!

Continuing the craft brewery journey... I do love trying craft beer all over the country as each region of the country offers different hops, styles and recipes to make the craft beer journey a time of highlights in these kinds of wonderings. For this brewery I had what I think was one of their more popular beers. The Satellite Surfer which was an New England IPA. I do so enjoy these types of IPA'S that actually come from the east. The knowledge of these beers and perfection of flavor for a pretty specific IPA is almost always well made and well handled from that sector of the country... probably because it originated around there. The Satellite Surfer has all of the hazy, hoppy, citrus and grassy flavor you come across with these IPA'S which was a contribution to being a bit snobby on what is a good New England IPA.

This place has been on the bucket list for some time. We decided to take a drive up to Butler and check out the place. We arrived and were greeted to sit anywhere. We found a location and reviewed the beers and I asked about the flight and she said it's a la carte, pick what you want. I selected the Hazy IPA Soft Top, Hop Marsh (but wasn't available), S'mores Mountain Pie, Bantam and Luna. The s'mores I liked because it wasn't something that you made you full. It was smooth and had a wonderful taste to it. The Luna was delicious but reminded me of Quinn Brewery's version but no complaints and ultimately my favorite was the Hazy IPA. They have a wide range of food to choose from. I had the ragin cajuin chicken sandwich which was the bomb. It tasted so good and had a ragin affect about it for sure. In addition, shared with my wife who had chicken sliders. Both were good. I want to come back here and try other food options, it's a hike of a drive but worth the drive. If you're seeking a place with good beer and food, hands down got to come here. The waitress was very nice and accommodating.

    Philly's cheese steak/ with a salad

Service was great our waitress/Bartender Emily was awesome. I got the Philly cheesesteak and salad. Cheesesteak was ok, but the side salad was really good. They do have a lot of IPA's. I recommend getting the sample to see which ones you like.

This was our final stop of the night on a Butler Brewery Tour. The kitchen was closed for the night so I cannot speak to the food. Although I saw online the menu was limited, especially for me as a vegetarian, so we ate earlier in the night. First off, this place is really nice inside. I loved the look, especially the wood details on the wall. The bar was nice. The tables were interesting. It is small inside but we had no problem getting a table. I ordered a flight of four to try. The flight consisted of Pistil Wheat, Carvers Pumpkin Ale, La Noche Triste, and Hunker Down. The wheat was the best of the bunch, which surprised me. I'm normally about dark beers. It had a unique taste to it. The pumpkin was okay, but certainly nothing to stand out when there is a sea of pumpkin beers out there. The La Noche Triste had a weird taste to it, which I couldn't quite place. The Hunker Down was honestly pretty bad. I know the description says star anise, but that is ALL you can taste. Four of us tried the beer and no one wanted to drink it. A few of the beers were drinkable, but nothing to bring me back. It's disappointing because I liked the look of the place. It would have been nice if the beers lived up to it. After going here I spoke to a few separate people who also weren't impressed. Go to Missing Links or Recon if you are in the Butler area.

We go to Recon which is located in the Meeder community. Free parking. Big field outside for kids to run. Phones got charged and I got a green beer. Four of us adults went and there were enough varietals that we each got something different. TVs had sports on and a good mix of indoor and outdoor seating. Outdoor seating was fully open and though my photos don't show it, people were there throughout the afternoon. I enjoyed it and would return. We've been up to the Butler location, but it's been a while and are glad to have one a bit closer.

On a Wednesday evening in July, my fiance and I found ourselves in the Cranberry area. We found…read morethis place and decided to give it a try, as we had never been before. It is also a non-chain establishment, which is a plus in this area. Recon Brewing is located within the Meeder neighborhood of Cranberry. It almost feels like you are in the wrong spot when initially entering, but eventually you stumble upon the "town square" area with a big lawn, several storefronts, and lots of sidewalks, which make it very easy to walk to. Since this is quite literally in the middle of a neighborhood, there is not a dedicated parking lot. However, there are spaces on the street around the entire area where all of the storefronts are. We had no issue finding a spot on this particular night, but I could see it being slightly more challenging if there is a big crowd eating here. We arrived here a little after 7:30, and it was not busy. Our dog was with us, so we opted for seats on the patio. The wait staff came to greet us right away, and were attentive to us throughout the entire evening. Since this is a brewery, we started off with a few beers. I had To Live & Rye, which is a red/amber rye. I appreciated this as an option, as a lot of places do not carry reds or red-adjacents, especially on tap. I enjoyed it, and it was a great sipper throughout the evening. My fiance ordered the Sour Series - Plum. He thought it was okay, but could have been more sour. Since they brew a lot of their own selections, these seem to rotate and switch out pretty frequently, which is a good way to be able to try lots of different brews. For an appetizer, we split the Cheese Curds. The portion, for the price, is okay. They were tasty, and I liked how you could choose whatever dipping sauce you wanted. We chose ranch, and thought it paired well with the curds. We both ordered 10" Personal Size Pizzas for our entrees, which are cut into 6 pieces. I opted for the Hot Honey, which was more of a white-style pizza with chicken on top and drizzled generously with hot honey. My fiance ordered the Peppers & Sausage, which had red pepper, banana pepper, and chunky pieces of sausage. Both had nice flavors, but we were not particularly wow-ed by either pie. The portion was solid for a personal serving, but if there are multiple people in your party, I would order multiple pizzas. Our total bill came out to be just under $50. I do not think this is unreasonable given that we got 2 beers, an appetizer, and two entrees. I think that in terms of overall value, this is very standard compared to similar restaurants and breweries. I loved the ambiance of Recon! If we lived closer to Cranberry, I could see myself coming here weekly, especially when the weather is warm. The patio lights make it such a cozy and warm atmosphere at night. It was not operating during our visit, but there was also a fire pit. There was a ton of seating here overall - both indoors and out. This would be a great spot to meet a large group of people, or just for a night out for two. There is even bar seating on the interior. I can see this being a great spot for the neighborhood to walk to and enjoy often. In terms of activity, there seems to be a lot going on at Recon. Though not anything specifically during our visit, there was a chalkboard advertising their regular events - DJ Trivia every Tuesday, Karaoke every other Thursday, as well as special events - a Comedy Show, Patio Party with music and vendors, and DJ Bingo. I would love to return for an event in the future! Lastly, I love how nice they were to our dog. He got a giant bowl of water with ice in it! The staff and patrons were friendly and welcoming to both us and him, which is a big plus when we bring him along on outings. There was even a donation box inside benefiting the Butler County Humane Society, so I know the treatment of my dog was not an off-chance occurrence. Overall, I enjoyed my first visit to Recon Brewing at Meeder! This truly is the perfect spot to be able to walk to and socialize with neighbors, grab dinner or a drink, and enjoy the atmosphere and ambiance that they provide. Plus, there are plenty of events and fun activities that seem to be happening regularly to keep patrons coming back. The staff were all kind, and we enjoyed our food and drinks. I look forward to another chance to be able to enjoy Recon, hopefully partaking in one of their many events.

It didn't take us long to make this a regular place to go. The beers are great, although my favorites are juicy IPAs and I tend toward this style. The staff there is mostly friendly, we all have off days. ;) The food, from Freedom Farms, is very good and offers generous portions. I deducted a half point from my review because they do not keep an updated menu on their website. The beer selection is updated regularly, though. We went last week, expecting to have dinner and beer to get us out of the house because we were going winter stir-crazy, and were surprised to find food truck-style offerings from a bbq place instead of our favorite Freedom Farms fare.. It was pretty good, but as a warning to those who are unfamiliar, when you order "pulled brisket" what you get is a scoop of meat in a paper bowl. There was a brocolli salad that sounded good for $5, but at that point the line was long and I just didn't want to bother. Husband thought that the pulled pork mac&cheese was really good. I will return again on a Thursday to check out the taco food truck, it may be more what I want from a meal. Can't wait for warmer weather, we love sitting outside in the greenhouse area.
