Food was great. Service was a tad above average but not superb and the environment was pleasant. The music wasn't overly loud. We had the pretzel bites & onion rings which were fantastic. I had the cheese steak which lacked something but was tasty. My husband had the Garlic parm wings (and drizzled w buffalo sauce) which were fantastic. The truffle fries were excellent. The service is super-friendly and helpful in choosing the right beers. I'm a sours fan so the "Fatal Bite" was a great suggestion. I also had the pumpkin ale which came with a sugar and cinnamon rim. A perfect fall treat. The menu looked really good with a lot, but not too many choices. (Think Cheesecake Factory!) I did peek around and The Mac and cheese mountain (with your choice of protein, sauces and add ons) was just that. Huge! I do love trying craft beer all over the country as each region of the country offers different hops, styles and recipes to make the craft beer journey a time of highlights in these kinds of wonderings. For this brewery I had what I think was one of their more popular beers. The Satellite Surfer which was an New England IPA. I do so enjoy these types of IPA'S that actually come from the east. The knowledge of these beers and perfection of flavor for a pretty specific IPA is almost always well made and well handled from that sector of the country... probably because it originated around there. The Satellite Surfer has all of the hazy, hoppy, citrus and grassy flavor you come across with these IPA'S which was a contribution to being a bit snobby on what is a good New England IPA. read more

This place has been on the bucket list for some time. We decided to take a drive up to Butler and check out the place. We arrived and were greeted to sit anywhere. We found a location and reviewed the beers and I asked about the flight and she said it's a la carte, pick what you want. I selected the Hazy IPA Soft Top, Hop Marsh (but wasn't available), S'mores Mountain Pie, Bantam and Luna. The s'mores I liked because it wasn't something that you made you full. It was smooth and had a wonderful taste to it. The Luna was delicious but reminded me of Quinn Brewery's version but no complaints and ultimately my favorite was the Hazy IPA. They have a wide range of food to choose from. I had the ragin cajuin chicken sandwich which was the bomb. It tasted so good and had a ragin affect about it for sure. In addition, shared with my wife who had chicken sliders. Both were good. I want to come back here and try other food options, it's a hike of a drive but worth the drive. My wife and i found ourselves in Butler on a Saturday evening after attending the Butler schools art and music event. We thought about going to the Chop Shop, which we love, but were in the mood for a good beer. Since I wouldn't go to The Brick House even if it were free, we decided on Butler Brew works. They were pretty busy, our server was prompt and helpful. I ordered the Chees steak and my wife ordered the Peak Pierogis. The sandwich was generous with meat, and the beer cheese was awesome. It was very messy, so be prepared. I took half home for lunch the next day. The Pierogis were good except for one issue. The Brusssel sprouts were almost raw and hard as a result. If they would roast them it would have been perfect. That was the reason that i went 4 stars and not 5. The beers were tasty and their prices are reasonable. Stopped in at Butler Brew Works for a quick bite. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger made from locally sourced beef and had their own pistil wheat beer (I'm not a "beer guy" so I don't know the difference between all of their craft brews) and everything was outstanding!! Apparently, their lawyers don't demand that you overcook a burger so it actually came out as medium rare like I asked for instead of a hockey puck. I should have taken a picture but I was way more interested in eating. Also, the staff couldn't have been nicer. It's so encouraging to know that some people still care about what they do and how they treat their customers! P.S. they hire local musicians too! read more

This was our final stop of the night on a Butler Brewery Tour. The kitchen was closed for the night so I cannot speak to the food. Although I saw online the menu was limited, especially for me as a vegetarian, so we ate earlier in the night. First off, this place is really nice inside. I loved the look, especially the wood details on the wall. The bar was nice. The tables were interesting. It is small inside but we had no problem getting a table. I ordered a flight of four to try. The flight consisted of Pistil Wheat, Carvers Pumpkin Ale, La Noche Triste, and Hunker Down. The wheat was the best of the bunch, which surprised me. I'm normally about dark beers. It had a unique taste to it. The pumpkin was okay, but certainly nothing to stand out when there is a sea of pumpkin beers out there. The La Noche Triste had a weird taste to it, which I couldn't quite place. The Hunker Down was honestly pretty bad. I know the description says star anise, but that is ALL you can taste. Four of us tried the beer and no one wanted to drink it. A few of the beers were drinkable, but nothing to bring me back. It's disappointing because I liked the look of the place. It would have been nice if the beers lived up to it. After going here I spoke to a few separate people who also weren't impressed. I stopped by here a couple of Saturdays ago with my wife for some lunch and drinks. The inside of Butler Brew Works is what I would consider to be industrial chic. The ceiling is a couple of stories high and has exposed I-beams and ductwork while the lighting is done nicely with some unique Edison bulbs. They have one massive wall that is completely done with reclaimed wood which is really cool and then a brick wall behind the taps. The bar itself is made of concrete and they have huge picture windows behind it where you can look into their production area. Finally they have a random assortment of high top and low top tables scattered around the bar where you can sit as well. As I often do whenever I visit a new brewery, I decided to go with a flight here. They don't have a set number of beers in a flight and instead have a flight price for each beer which means you can mix and match as many or as little as you want. On this day I decided to stick with the usual four and chose the Creekside Kolsch, C Creature 2019 (IPA), Go Devil (Gose) and Sea Siren (sour). I first started out with the Creekside Kolsch which was a solid representation of a kolsch with a smooth start and that kolsch finish. Second was the C Creature 2019 and it was made with all local hops and malts. It's a nice IPA with the hops coming in at the finish and while definitely present, they are not overpowering. Third was the Go Devil which starts off sour before finishing with that dryness and saltiness I love in a gose. Last but not least was the Sea Siren which started off with, surprise surprise, sour before you really get those tropical flavors on the finish, especially the guava. My wife also noted the passionfruit flavor in the finish and on a second sip I really did pick up on it at the end of the finish. After I had finished all of those we were given a complimentary flight taster of the Merging Paths because our food was taking awhile. It was a Belgian that tasted like those Belgian yeasts right out of the gate but had a nice tart finish from the cherries and plum which was quite nice, even if I am not a huge Belgian fan. Out of the bunch I have to say that Sea Siren was my favorite due to those tropical flavors and that the Gose and IPA were both very good as well. For lunch on this day I decided to go with the special which was the secret weapon stir fry. The specials board described it as sautéed red peppers, cauliflower, broccoli, shredded carrots, garlic and sliced onions over bahn pho rice noodles and tossed in "secret weapon" sauce. It also said that it came with soup or salad which I didn't think about until I actually got my meal but I never received it. Instead I got the beer which for me wasn't a bad trade off. As I mentioned above, it took a little while to get our food but it wasn't long enough that we were questioning it. Whenever it finally did come out, it was worth the wait. I loved all of the vegetables in my stir fry and thought that it made it all feel really healthy. The noodles provided a nice carb to the dish and then the sauce was tasty too. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. I thought that both the food and beer was really good and would love to try more of both. read more

Reserved Butler Brew Works on a Thursday for my pre-wedding cocktail event in October of 2022. The food was the quality, and the staff was quick to serve our guests. They allowed us to rent the whole space and even when we got quite loud, we never got any complaints. A cool spot in Butler. There was plenty of street parking outside. They do not take reservations, seating is first come, first serve. Fortunately we were able to get a table right away last night. Their draft list had a lot of variety. The service was just okay. It seemed our waitress was rushing us a bit, she also didn't know much about an item on the menu I asked about. Their wings were so good, I'd especially recommend the "bacon honey garlic". We asked for ranch but never got it. I had the brisket risotto bowl, seconds before it arrived we were told they were out of the broccoli rabe which is a big reason I picked that entree. My husband & I are a mixed couple: I'm vegan, he's not. We're visiting the area from Texas, and I had high hopes with low expectations for finding vegan fare around our hotel. I'm delighted to say we found several vegan friendly spots within easy walking distance of our hotel, one of which was Butler Brew Works. Our waitperson, Terri, was superb, as she helped us both navigate both the drink and the food menus. She went even further by informing the kitchen I was vegan, to further ensure my food was prepared vegan. Such a welcome contrast to a contradictory experience I had yesterday with a large pizza franchise. My girlfriend and I come to the Butler area often and wanted something different to try. This popped up on Google, so we decided this looked like a great place. This place is difficult for me to rate though because it had it's perks, but I was also put off by some things as well. Upon walking it, the vibe is on the hipster bar side of things. It's a small restaurant, but not once did I feel cramped. You can tell right away that there were regulars there due to their interactions with the staff. Which didn't make it hostile. They immediately had a cooler with their beer to go near the door which was a nice preview on the type of beers they offer as well as a nicely organized souvenir area. You could freely seat yourself at the bar or one of the round tables. The tables had this odd epoxy on them that made them feel sticky. I don't like that at all because it feels unclean, but to each their own. You also could look into the area where they brew their beers. That gave it a nice modern industrial vibe and it was very clean in there. Due to the small size of the area, it got loud quickly. The staff was pretty much on par for a bar restaurant. The typical "whatcha want" type attitude. They had a menu of their house made beers that seemed like a nice variety and a very small menu for wine and even a mead. Which the mead was a nice surprise. I asked if the mead was made in house and the waitress acted like I had two heads for asking. So, I ordered a water. Just her attitude made me not want to ask many more questions. She also seemed like she wanted to get back to talking with the regulars because they weren't that busy. The food was mostly average. I got the fish sandwich and a side salad with ranch dressing. The sandwich is HUGE. It comes with cheese and roumalade sauce, but I asked for no cheese. The fish was hot and crispy, but lacked flavor on its own. That roumalade sauce though? YUMMMM!! That was delicious! I would put that on everything. The side salad was pretty standard with lettuce, cheese, croutons, cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, and pickled onions that made the salad really fresh and not needing dressing in my opinion. The ranch dressing for the salad tasted like Hidden Valley though. I did not eat much of it, but luckily those pickled onions is all that salad needed. So, overall with my experience, I would eat here again. Upon writing this review, I have changed my rating 4 times back and forth between 3 and 4 stars. I would say it's a solid 3.5, but thats not an option. The food was okay, with certain aspects being great. The service could be better and I usually like a more reserved, quiet dining experience and this was definitely not the place for that. I would love to try a beer next time and many other items on their menu looked delicious. read more

I visited this place while on business in Butler PA. I tried a flight of beers, all decent. And I had the tacos and onion rings. I have to be honest in that the food was not spectacular. The customer service was good but the food was missing something. It also could be what I ordered. My colleague has a burger with shredded pork on it and it smelled great. He enjoyed every bite.
