We had a spontaneous family dinner there tonight. We all had to say the waiter / bartender was not the nicest to deal with. We had a larger party and we are a bit much at times, but still. Absolutely terrible. Walked in and asked for a beer on tap. He said, sure, but the beer isn't cold. He then point down to a moldy mini fridge and said that they had some cold drinks in there. I recently received a poor review at the business I run, from owner of this business, Larry Goettler. I regularly frequent the businesses of those who frequent my business. It's good for the community. When I get a review I often go to that business to see the perspective of my customers. Maybe their customer service is off the charts. ‍. Just as Larry did, I went into his business as a customer... looking to receive the best service. I asked the bartender to speak with the owner and she said he wasn't there, as I watched him walk by. I relayed to her, " I was well known in this town" as Larry did my staff. I also made it clear that I would write a review. She became very defensive. She yelled for Larry and another man. Larry presented himself at the top of his stairs. He shouted down at me, he told me "You need to leave". I told the bartender I needed my tab. She charged my drinks to another man. When I stated that would effect the review, Larry directed the bartender to comp my drinks and get me out. I wasn't rude, didn't use foul language, in fact... I only raised questions. The place reeks of smoke. Larry's grandchildren (minor children) were running through the bar. Came from out of town for a friends wedding had a great time during our dining(the waiters in the room were awesome ) but as party died down we decided to hang around When we went up to bar we ordered drinks and the bartender decided to just get one drink we asked for(order 2 drinks and shots) and then left to the back never to come back Then another bartender approached as we told her what was happening she said sorry about that what can I get we just had a lot of people quit (okay we are understanding.) but when we ordered she said it was too much to remember we ordered a white claw and 4 jamos 1 green tea. My husband and I had our first date and many date nights since, at the Brick House, and have always loved it. We decided to use them as our wedding reception venue, and we couldn't be happier that we did. Matt and his team made our day go so smoothly. They handled all setup and cleanup and food preparation, and had a offer a huge selection of alcohol, and many different cost efficient bar package options. All of our guests raved about how good the appetizers and meal were. Their rates are much lower than any of the other local reception venues that offer packages. Not to mention the super cool, eclectic atmosphere that the place has, that just added to the decor style that I was looking for!! My husband & I decided to try this restaurant for the first time last night at 5:30 PM. We noticed the sign that stated the bartender would seat you. We waited as he was washing glasses at the other end of the bar. My husband said 2 & the bartender responded but, we could not hear him. Again my husband said 2. The bartender responded back "we can't, private party". There were only a few people in the entire place. My husband said "you can't take 2"? I suggest that if you have a private party & can not open to the general public, you need to change your sign to read: CLOSED FOR PRIVATE PARTY. Needless to say we turned around, left & went up the road to Rachel's (which was packed) and we were accommodated within 15 minutes. We usually will give a second chance if we have a bad experience. With NO customer service we will not be giving The Brick House another chance! read more

The Brick house has okay food, good service, a little expensive, and the band plays a little too loud so I don't recommend it if you want to have a long conversation (or don't want to have to shout to be heard), but the place is nice for a night out downtown (aka drinking and maybe dancing). Stopped by randomly for dinner with my son and husband. Walked in, blown away with the size of the place! It looks much smaller from the outside. It was decorated great and very clean. Food was delicious and the prices INSANE (in a good way) for what you receive! I admit I ordered something I shouldn't have, but I was trying to try something out of my norm. But it was fantastic, and we can't wait to go back. Only negative? Service was slow. Took almost an hour for a few burgers and drinks were slow to refill. There was a time when this place was my favorite local restaurant. I spent more money at the Brick House than any other place i ever went to. Then, several years ago, i had a VERY bad experience there. I asked to speak to the owner, but was told he was much too busy to speak with a long time loyal customer like me. I wrote about that experience, and the owner, Larry G, browbeat and insulted me and my wife so badly that i just deleted the review. Fast forward to 2019, i decided to give the place another try. I was hoping that maybe it would return to it's former glory. No. It didn't, What a shame, as i love to support local businesses. My guess is Larry makes a truckload of cash with his large group business(rehearsal dinners etc), so individual diners don't mean much to him. The service was OK, but the food was subpar. At this point i am done with the place, so Larry G, go ahead and insult me and call me all the names you want and tell me how successful you are. I really don't care. There are way too many good places to spend my money for me to waste any more at the Brick House. read more

Perhaps you should take the constructive criticism to improve instead of trying to defend a sup-par business. We had our wedding on 1/25/2020 here, and our experience at Brick House was phenomenal. Our primary interaction was with Matt, who is the event coordinator. He was patient, took time to provide us with any information we needed, and helped keep an insanely anxious bride calm. We had our service right at the location, and he corralled everyone to their seats when the ceremony was getting ready to start, made sure everything ran smooth and ensured we were well taken care of. Our food was on point. We chose to have the Beef Au Jus and the Chicken Roll Ups (stuffed chicken breast wrapped in bacon with a cream sauce) as our meat selections. Everyone raved about it. Included in our price was set up, clean up, decorating, traying cookies, cake cutting, etc, etc, etc. Matt literally was the wedding coordinator for the entire day once we hit that venue. It was fabulous. He was even able to ball park what we needed to have for a bar tab so we had the right amount of alcohol. Every single staff member we encountered was wonderful, but Dillon Weidenhof was our bartender, and he went above and beyond. He was pleasant, quick, and made sure us and our guests were well taken care of. We are ESPECIALLY thankful with how he was with our 16 year old Autistic son, Evan. He treated Evan like a VIP, even giving him a little robot to play with and made him feel like one of the guys when he was sitting at the bar. It was just more than we could ask for. Matt, please pass along our gratitude to all of your staff that worked that day from the kitchen to servers to yourself. If I ever have another event, you will be the first place I will talk to. Finding a restaurant on Butler's Main Street that's open past 5 p.m. is nearly impossible. Sadly, the only reason I came here with my mom was because the Chop Shop next door was closed. The layout of this place is pretty weird, for starters. The main entrance opens into the bar, where all the regulars are sitting, the tinge of stale cigarette smoke in the air. Had to ask the bartender for a place to sit and eat. He lead us to a back non-smoking room that was a bit isolated. The smell of deodorizers was overwhelming in that room, perhaps to cover the scent of the smoke at the bar, but not all that effectively. Service was fine; food was kind of weird. My mom ordered a pasta bake, but it had an overwhelming amount of mozzarella cheese and black olives baked inside it. I ordered a Pittsburgh salad, which in yinzer speak means it has french fries on top. None of the toppings like onions and carrots and tomatoes were mixed into the salad, which I thought was kind of strange. Also, instead of shredded carrots, there were raw baby carrots in the salad, making it difficult to eat at times. While parts of the chicken in my salad were good, there were quite a few pieces of fat I needed to set aside. Also, the waiter presented each of the dishes with plastic lids on top. Seemed so strange, so antiquated, so unusual. For limited options, this helped in a bind, but wasn't and wouldn't be my first dining choice. read more

Had dinner here on a Saturday night and it was very good. I had the Chicken New Orleans with fries (fresh cut ... yum). It was good. My wife had the Victoria filet with crab meat topping. I went into The Brick House last night with a friend for the first time (Sat. May 4, 2013) around 9:15 pm. The bartenders were nice but the service wasn't that great. I ordered a Southern Comfort and Coke and my friend ordered a Guinness. Once we received our drinks I was charged for both and the bartender tried to charge my friend for both! I couldn't get the bartenders attention to find out some more info about bands that play there because she was too busy talking to friends at the end of the bar. We finished our drinks and were about to leave when she finally asked if we would like another one. We decided to get another one and that's when she said " Oh by the way we are out of Southern Comfort." I got a Jack and Coke. Well I got a glass of Jack (not sure about the Coke! After four date changes due to covid restrictions, we had to ultimately change our wedding reception venue, but if there was one bright side to that, it was the Brick House. It was a blessing in disguise. First and foremost, Matt was phenomenal to work with. So easy, informative, helpful..... a complete must in our already stressful situation! Second, the food was amazing! We have been getting compliments ALL week about the chicken roll-ups, the potatoes, etc. Everything was reasonably priced, the bartenders were fabulous, the setup was terrific! We were slightly concerned going in, Bc we know there is typically smoking on the bar side. Matt assured us he would be cleaning the carpets the morning of as he always does for weddings- and he didn't fail us- you couldn't tell there had been smoking the prior day by the time we arrived! Matt took care of getting our decorations and tables set up for us as well. The convenience of a beautiful hotel caddy corner was such a blessing. Having the game room was added fun for us as well. My husband and I have Been here on several occasions and have yet to have a bad dining experience, in fact I enjoy a good taco pizza, I have gone to the brick house when this was not a current menu item and asked the chef if he would prepare one for me and have yet to be disappointed. I ordered a medium-well beef filet, but it had to be returned because it was so rare that I could still hear mooing. other items lacked freshness. on a positive note, the place has an acceptable ambiance and the service is friendly, when you actually get it. this place could be good if they would only try a little harder....UPDATE...I feel a need to address the comment from Larry G. of the Brick House. First, I was being kind, I did return my steak, only to have it returned overcooked and too tough to eat. A group of friends and I stopped in here for a happy hour. We ordered the buffalo chicken dip (not at all spicy), the spinach artichoke dip which was pretty good with great pitas, the sausage stuffed mushrooms that were just ok, and the crab cake sliders which were pretty good. The drink specials were good and we liked the patio. I got a quesadilla to go which was pretty underwhelming and came with no sour cream and a burger that was also just ok and pretty greasy. I haven't been here for a full dinner or for a crowded night out, but if just looking for a happy hour with some specials and a few apps outside, it's ok. read more

I originally planned on the lamb chop but unfortunately they were out, so I got the Louisiana burger (an example of the range of their menu). So I expected this burger to be less than exciting, boy was I wrong. This burger was one of the best burger I've had in my life. The flavor and seasoning was amazing!! AND!!! Get this, the burger and fries were only $7!!!!!!!! This was the venue for the most perfect wedding I could have hoped for. The food was delicious, the staff was friendly and did their jobs so well that I never had to think about anything except my wedding and guests. This place used to be a really decent place to go but recently it has gone way down hill. Now that there are so many other options on Main Street Butler, I'm not really sure why anyone would choose to dine here. I was there for my husband's uncles birthday party in the room off to the side and there was a wedding going on in the main part. The people from the wedding kept coming into our room and it was very awkward. The service we got was severely lacking, having to search for someone to get you a drink as we were not allowed at the bar due to the wedding. Once you did find someone they acted annoyed that you asked for anything. The appetizers where stale chips and broken up pretzels in a bowl. If they can't handle two events at a time, then it's probably better to stick to one. I was very disappointed with that visit and a few before that. Now I wait for the passive aggressive comment from the owner, like he's put on all of the previous reviews... lol There are better places to go, save yourself the trip! read more

My family and I were in Pennsylvania and ate at the Brick House for dinner. The food was amazing! It was a very eclectic menu with a lot of different options to choose from, anywhere between seafood to pasta to steaks to salads. We had an opportunity to compliment the chef and learned that he, Chef Will, is a very experienced chef and has cooked in kitchens around the country. Our waitress Vicky was also great. She was so nice and has the best smile. She was efficient and made sure we were well taken care of. We got an appetizer, wine, and three meals and our bill was only $65 (including the tip!). It is definitely not too expensive. If anything, it is a great deal for what you get. We went on a night where there was no music, so it wasn't too loud for conversation. The Brick House has gotten a reputation for only being known for a bar, but that's probably only because the people who go there to drink aren't going to sit down at a table and try the food! We HIGHLY recommend trying this local gem--you won't regret it! read more

I have been to The Brick House a few times and because they are one of the only places in Butler that still takes reservations I made one for Valentines Day. The service has always been very friendly. It seems they are a bit understaffed but the food has always been amazing. We weren't thrilled with the amount of time we were there but we were well cared for by the staff and management. I will definitely be back. read more

Sorry Brick House, but you're only good for one thing: DRINKING. In fact I had only visited the Brick House for drinks during my college years. I always enjoyed the atmosphere, but had never tried the food. I decided to meet a friend at the Brick House for dinner in November of 07, when I was home visiting for Thanksgiving. Afterwards I was extremely regretful that we didn't hit up Natili's instead. The food was gross. I had an appetizer with crab and it tasted funny. I was kinda afraid to eat it. It was supposed to be on top of portabello mushrooms. The mushrooms were cut up into tiny pieces and the crab was dry. It didn't taste fresh and it lacked flavor. My friend and I decided to split a piece of peanut butter pie. We had to send it back as it was freezer burnt and tasted stale. The piece of chocolate cake that we got in it's place was mediocre, not worth the money we spent. I'm disappointed in you Brick House. read more

We had the unfortunate experience to go to this restaurant on Saturday, December 10, 2010. The whole place was so smokey, I could not stand it. We were supposed to be in a nonsmoking area, but it was as smokey as all get out. The tea and coffee eere barely warm. The soup was wedding, but it's a good thing we were told, I would not of known. The entree I ordered was something with pasta, tomatoes and olive oil. I had ordered penne, but after waiting over an hour, received spagetthetti drowning in butter. Went to Brick House for an event in their banquet room. The room was dated and not very clean looking. They ran out of several of the items and did not bother to refill anything, even when questioned about it. The staff didn't ask about drinks other than when we first arrived.
