Fabulous service! The gal working mentioned she usually works at the other location. She got everyone's orders right (including 3 picky kids!), was attentive, and brought extra silverware before I could even ask when a set ended up on the floor. 3.5 stars. My husband and I purchased food from this Burger Hut once recently. I did not go inside, but my husband said that the restaurant looked very old but clean. He asked the employees to recommend the foods for which they are famous. Here are my reviews for the food: Hamburgers - 3.5 stars - The hamburgers were HUGE! As a result, they were a little challenging to eat without falling apart, but they did taste good. They were not greasy, and the ingredients were fresh. Chili dog - 3.5 stars - My husband described this chili dog as "fine," and he ate all of it. Egg salad sandwich - 4 stars - The bread was toasted and not soggy. The egg salad was eggy and tasty. Macaroni salad - 3.5 stars - This salad contained noodles, carrots, celery, scallions, and mayonnaise. I liked it. Overall, the burgers and other foods were not the best that I have ever eaten, but they were good, and the prices were reasonable. read more

Just picked up an order from Burger Hut down town. Ordered 2 super sharpies and 2 small fries. Got home and opened the order up. The small order of fries had like only 12 french fries in each. The super sharpies just fell apart as we were eating them. The chili sauce on them gushed out of the top of the buns. I had ordered pickles like I always did before. I could not find pickles when I opened up the order. They had cut the pickles up and they were inside the burgers. Not the old Burger Hut I am used to. You can tell it is under new management. The Burger Hut is a quirky and colorful downtown Butler dining institution that serves handpacked, grilled to order burgers and that Western PA carb-lover's favorite -- french fries with your choice of gravy or chili. While there are other items on the menu, I suggest you stick with the burgers and fries if you want to partake in the true flavor of this place. And only visit the tiny downtown location, as the larger free-standing building out at the Point is completely devoid of the character that makes this place unique amongst roadside joints in Western PA. Recommended burger options include the Sharpie (made with sharp cheddar) -- which I recommend be ordered with chili -- and the monumental double-decker Dagwood cheeseburger with onion, lettuce and tomato. Get a full order or half order of french fries with light brown gravy or a Coney Island style chili sauce. Those who still mourn the loss of the Hot Dog Shoppe downtown should go here to feed their jones for saucy fries! In fact, I always though they were better here at the Hut. The atmosphere is that of a quasi-historic, distinctly retro lunch counter. The blue-tile exterior (shown in the picture above) gave way a few years back to a non-distinct red brick facade. But the dining area is mostly unchanged and remains tiny with a U-shaped counter offering no more than a dozen seats and a small seating area for 3-4 persons by the window facing directly out onto the sidewalk (definitely not a place for the shy eater). While I haven't been there for a few years, the counter seats were routinely inhabited by some of the oddest and colorful characters that downtown Butler has to offer, lured there in part by bottomless cups of coffee and a revolving door of variable patrons whom they could ogle and/or mumble at incoherently. But the thing I miss the most about the Hut is the old-school counter attendants with the bouffant hardos who used to shout the orders back to the kitchen in a dinerese dialect. Back when this place was open 24 hours, we used to come in after a long night of carousing and give those poor ladies a heckuva hard time. But they always took good care of us and the food always stuck to my ribs. Just remember: This is more than just food - it's a small town dining adventure! read more

This place is gross. The health inspector must not know they are there. Upon entering I noticed empty booths, but not a single clean one. My Reuben tasted like they took two slices of bread, dipped them in a vat of butter, and spit on it, and served it. I tasted something disgusting inside of it and immediately spit it out. We told the waitress but she didn't care. Then when we were leaving she had the nerve to ask for a tip! Really! She didn't even fill our drinks or check on us once. Stay away. Used to be my favorite place to eat but after their best waitress leaving I can see now that the food is just as mediocre as ever but the diner feel of a kind and caring staff is gone. As we speak I've waited over a half hour to get a refill on a cup of sweet tea and the server is nowhere to be found. Ive seen servers making out with the cook in the kitchen instead of serving and checking on patrons. I've received cold mediocre food at a horrible price for what I'm getting. As I'm sitting in the diner there's county music on the loud speaker while the cook and server blasts rap in the back. Both reak of weed on occasion. The list goes on and I doubt anything will change but this will be my last time spending money here. read more

The Burger Hut downtown is a small, whole in the wall with great, greasy, delicious food. My personal favorites are the pancakes, fries with gravy, and their breakfast sandwiches. This is stick to your rib kinda food so if that's your style, you'll love this place! read more

The food is ok with decent prices, but the owner was rude to us several times when we lived nearby years ago.

Horrible service, horrible food. Gnats flying everywhere...got charged $20 for a burger and a small (actually a monkey dish full) fry...will never be back and suggest the health department pays them a visit only gave one star because negative is not an option! I just ate at burger hut based on the two reviews I read here and boy, were they way off base on this! Yah, it's a hole in the wall (sort of next door to Pizza Joe's) and it is cheap, but the burgers aren't that great. I had the Sharpieburger which is just a burger with sharp cheddar cheese on it....and three hours later, I can still feel my arteries clogging up! The single burgers aren't that big (maybe the size of a whopper junior) but you can easily load up on the calories by doubling the burger or adding a side order of fries with either gravy, cheese sauce or chili ( or maybe some combination of the three toppings)....or perhaps some potato salad, macaroni salad, mac n cheese or coleslaw. Definitely not a place for the health conscious or someone looking for a good burger. read more
