My son has been coming to Dr. Butler since he was 6 months old. His teeth started cutting through at 4 months old and since I have insurance I wanted the best care for him. Fast forward, he's now 12 and I still take him to Dr. Butler because she is 100% the most knowledgable pediatric / youth dentist you will find in all of Orange County. And now that my boy is longer than her dentist chairs I wonder if she'll graduate him out to some other place. Lol read more

Incredibly disappointed with this office. Our experience at first was great--happy with the dentist, happy with the techs, happy with their care. Fast forward to my son's last appointment. It was for a cavity. My husband takes him as I could not attend due to pregnancy and the nitrous oxide gas. His appointment was at 10 AM and they take him back (10:30) and start drilling. No x-rays beforehand. Mind you, the last time they took x-rays of this tooth was in August. This appointment was in April, so almost an 8 month difference. Wow! We follow their lead though, because they're the professionals. They are drilling, and after an HOUR of drilling on my son (whose 5 btw), they stop and tell us that he actually doesn't need a cavity, he instead needs a root canal and a crown. My husband called me to relay this information and I immediately said no--this is not what this appointment was for. A crown and a root canal are a huge deal for a 5 year old IMO, and I would want a second opinion. Sure enough the dentist (who was not Dr. Butler, I'm not sure of her name) tells us that they've already been drilling the tooth for an hour so he HAS to do it. We can't just leave with a hole in his tooth. ?!?!?? After 30 minutes of me calling other dentist offices going back and forth trying to get a second opinion, we came to a decision to do the crown and root canal. My husband tells the dentist and I'm on speaker phone. She then says, "Unfortunately it's too late to perform this procedure today, so we'll just give you a temporary filling and you can schedule another appointment." So after ALL of that, my poor child had to go without food for almost 3 hours, get his tooth drilled for an hour, and leave with an ugly looking temporary filling to fill the hole which was not very secure as they told us he would need work to fix it ASAP. Not to mention, we had to pay $150 for absolutely NOTHING. Just drilling and making a hole, which was 100% preventable had they done x-rays before hand instead of going off of multiple month old x-rays. After this experience, we will no longer be attending this office. I called the front desk to cancel the future appointments I made, and guess what? They didn't have them in their schedule. I made it clear to cancel all future appointments because we weren't coming back and the front desk lady couldn't have cared less. Didn't even ask if i wanted to reschedule. This was also the second time they didn't have an appointment down for me. Yikes! Stay far away. read more

My children have been a patient of Dr. Butler since early childhood. I have been coming to this office for several years and have been patient with their antics in exchange for their positive attitudes and good bedside manners with my kids. However, yesterday was the straw that broke the camels back, I will never go back. For years the service has been steadily slipping. My youngest son had to do his tongue tie procedure three times!!! My oldest son had a cavity filled with the laughing gas that their doctor decided to turn off early while she was still mid procedure and he came to while she was still working on his mouth, he panicked and was traumatized and yet I was still stupid enough to come back for years. I got a text message about being charged $50 for my appointment if I have to move cancel or reschedule within 48 HOURS of the appointment time, But then they didn't see me until almost half an hour after our appointment time??? ABSOLUTELY NOT, I should charge them for wasting my time. Their subpar Cleaning was done in under five minutes and yet our appointment took an hour and a half. The office staff makes you fill out a long form for every single appointment even though no medical history has changed when I commented to them that their allergies and medical history hasn't changed and they can keep the information they've already have on file which is for years she refused and rudely said it was policy. You people can go there if you want, but I will not be wasting any more time money or energy at that office. read more

My wife and I have been bringing our daughter here for about 7 years now. We were impressed with Dr. Butler and her staff, but thought the office was a bit excessive in putting her under anesthesia for any major procedure. We took a little break and went to few other places to see if there are other dentists that can perform similar procedures without having to go under anesthesia. Given our daughter's condition, all other places had the same recommendation. Our daughter also seemed to have more anxiety and tantrum at other places. As a result, we decided to come back here, and are now convinced this is the best option for our daughter. We like the office so much, we started bringing our son here as well. In addition to great staff, the office has a very calming vibe and decor. Even though it's a pediatric dentistry, the decor is clean and sophisticated, not childish and gaudy like other kids dentistry. The place just seems like it was designed with special needs kids in mind. There's even a sensory room. The big fish tank by the front desk is a big plus. My daughter looks forward to coming here just to look at the fish. My son also likes coming here because it has some video games on the other side. It's weird that both my kids look forward to coming here, but that's a good thing. read more

Dr Butler and her partner was patience and gentle to my son and I was in the room in the intire time with my son and holding his hand to comforting him along the way of the procedure. My child has been coming to this dental office for years, and I have to say the dental techs have always been amazing with my toddler. They're patient, kind, and really know how to work with young children. However, I've decided not to return due to a very disappointing experience with the front desk receptionist. On 6/6 afternoon from the moment we arrived, the receptionist seemed completely uninterested. She clearly saw me walk in but didn't greet me or even look up from her monitor -- and she wasn't even typing or busy at the time. I approached the desk and said "hi," and still received no eye contact or acknowledgment. When I told her we had an appointment, she silently began checking the system without a single word or glance in my direction. Eventually, she told us we had missed our appointment. We were about 15 minutes late, but by the time she finished checking (which took another 5 minutes), she said it had passed 20 minutes and they couldn't see us. While I understand there are policies, her lack of basic courtesy or effort to help was very frustrating. She didn't apologize, offer to reschedule, or even show any willingness to assist -- it was clear she wasn't interested in helping customers at all. Right after leaving, I called another dental office, and their front desk staff was the complete opposite: warm, welcoming, and eager to help us get an appointment. That's the kind of experience every parent deserves, especially when dealing with children's health. Unfortunately, because of the unprofessional front desk experience, I won't be returning. read more

We have been going to this pediatric dentistry for three years and have never seen the same dentist or nurse twice. Children will not receive consistent care. Their billing system is very messy. For one of my children, they sent me more than 10 bills for a single procedure because they filed the claims incorrectly. My other child was billed without issue, even though both children have the same insurance. I called and emailed them repeatedly but never got a response. Their billing manager, named Karen, is a very "typical Karen." I finally had to go to their office, where we called the insurance company together to figure out the problem. The reason their claims were rejected was that the first time, they filed with the wrong insurance company. The second time, they typed an extra zero in the member ID. We've been coming here close to 5 years now for routine cleanings and have also had a couple fillings done. Even when my kiddo had a hard time with the mask they use for nitrous the first time he had it, the staff was kind and supportive. They let us take the mask home to "practice" using it so when we came back to try again, it was a success!
