I made an appointment with this Discount Tire location on 4226 N Roxboro for 2:45pm on Apr 17. It…read morewas for a nail in another tire. I would have gone to the one on 4400 Fayetteville but it was much further away from my workplace, and I have no desire to return to the Wake Forest location again for a 4.5-hour service. The location at 4226 N Roxboro in Durham was closer than both. At 2:20pm, I logged in Discount Tire's Journey Tracker app that I was on my way. I arrived at 2:34pm. There was no wait line to the front desk. I was immediately helped by senior assistant manager Jim (according to his business card). After I described the issue to him, he asked for my car key and said he'd get me squared away. Unlike other Discount Tire locations, he did not accompany me to the car to show him the issue. At 2:47pm, I received an update on Journey Track app informing me that the estimated time of completion for my vehicle was 3:41pm. The waiting area wasn't crowded. At least three seats were available during my time there. However, the counter table had no seats. I needed to use the wall outlet next to it to charge my laptop. So I stood on my feet the entire time next to the table. The wifi was slow. A Google search took at least 5 seconds. Google News wouldn't load at all the first time but then loaded almost instantly the next time. At about 3:02pm-ish, my car was in the service bay. Five minutes later, I was informed that that tire had to be replaced. The informing attendant said that it would be replaced at no charge, which Jim confirmed another five minutes later. The store didn't have the exact model tire so they went with the closest one. All it cost was less than $10 for another certificate of free replacement, and subtracting the price of the original tire (the closest model tire cost less). At 3:28pm, I received a text notification that my car was ready. Within one minute, my car was parked outside and ready to go - the team finished ahead of schedule. I appreciated the great savings on the new tire. Service was good, certainly better than the Wake Forest location. There's one thing the N Roxboro Discount Tire team can do to improve my rating to "great": put seats at the counter table.

Checking air pressure a couple of weeks later, and front tires are at 40psi, 10psi higher than what my car says on the inside of the driver side door. Only came to this location because the one off of 15-501 didn't balance my tires after I asked them to on two separate appointments. Fair to say this was the last set of tires I'll ever buy from discount tire. Just save yourself the hassle and go to Costco.

These guys serviced my diesel truck and lexus exactly as they said they would on several occasions. They were upfront on estimates, and have not had any rework to deal with. Pricing on tires is solid. Work done has been both minor and major, and all done correctly. Timing belt, major top end diesel work, and small stuff like tires were all completed correctly. In the past I have done complete rebuilds on diesel and gas engines of various makes and no longer have the time to do it myself. I expect correct work from mechanics and they delivered, repeatedly. ben

Review #500 takes me to Downtown Creedmoor for a new local business. I brought my little yellow…read morecar here for some brake work and wiring issues. Jeff seemed to know his way around my old C3. There were still more wiring and brake issues to be resolved, but I decided I needed to be able to eat before I dumped a ton more cash into this car. I just wanted it to be drivable without worrying about whether or not the 3500lbs of steel, leather, plastic and fiberglass would stop and whether or not I'd get rear ended if I could stop. It took about 50 miles for the new brakes/rotor to finally break in - unfortunately, the car still won't stop on a dime if I need it to. Not sure how to resolve that - maybe it's as simple as bleeding the brakes again (a two person job - something my daddy taught me how to do when I was 10 years old), or maybe it's an indication of needing a new master cylinder - something I would have no business messing with. While the jury is still out on this shop, Jeff did indeed tighten up some of the seals that appeared to be leaking. Kudos and credit for no more spots in my driveway. Pricing/Hours scared me for the brake work and about what I expected for the wiring issues. Time will tell when I bring it back for the balance of the brake work we discussed and for other work that needs to be done to make this car "safer" to drive. I just want to have a place to take this car where I can trust the people working on it for their expertise and their integrity. This may or may not be that place. Quick update - took the little yellow car back for round two because the dash light for the brakes came on... seems I still have a leaky caliper. Jeff got the system up and working again, no charge this time, but two weeks later, running into the same problem again. Not sure what the issue is - burned right through another set of new pads on that wheel. Last Update: After taking my C3 to another shop, and to a mechanic who specializes in Corvettes, I'm being told the rotors and calipers are all still original and none were ever replaced. I will not be back to Main Street Automotive for anything.
