It's not a looker but it was delicious!

I ordered the scramble which tasted way better than it looks! It was huge so I was able to take some home for a second meal. Service was a bit slow with only one server. She was working as hard as she could to keep us all happy. The building is really cute. Best for breakfast but I would assume way busier.

    The classic vegan breakfast. Yummo!

What a delicious surprise! This is a breakfast & lunch cafe built into a modified house. The staff is friendly and the hustle! A great experience for us! I had The vegan classic breakfast. Just Eggs folded over, Impossible breakfast sausage & house potatoes. It came with rye bread (and vegan butter) and delicious coffee. I also asked for a side of sautéed spinach just to try it. I loved it all! My son had the Skinny Bxxxh Frittata. Egg whites with tomato's, spinach green pepper, mushrooms and onion. It was served with house potatoes, a side of black beans and delicious coffee. He said he very much enjoyed it.

Favorite brunch spot in Dayton! It's very busy on the weekends but arriving around 9:15 will ensure you don't have a long wait. I've orders the Classic Breakfast and Corned Beef Hash - both are delicious!!

Butter has been hit or miss for the last few years. When it first opened, it was so good! Unfortunately, I have to call this visit my last. I have had far more disappointing experiences here than satisfying ones. I ordered online for carryout because I know Sundays are busy for breakfast and I live walking distance. It wasn't too busy, there were open tables and a lot of staff walking around. Upon my arrival, there were five employees at the counter doing various things, with others coming and going. A group of two that arrived before me was greeted and taken to a table, but when that employee (probably host) came back from seating them, she completely ignored me. She just kept looking down at a seating chart and running to the back. Never acknowledging me any time she came to check the seating chart. After a few minutes of me patiently waiting for any of these five employees to greet me and help me, two men walked in and stood behind me. The host greeted and sat them. Literally looked BEYOND me and took them into another room. I kept trying to get the attention of others but they kept yelling, "be with you in a minute!" and running around frantically. Another couple arrived, and the host appeared again and started to greet them so I cut her off and asked if she could help me first since I'd been there and two others had already cut ahead of me because of her. She just gave me a blank look, handed me my food and said thanks bye! Honestly it was such a ridiculous experience and I'm still so frustrated thinking about it. And I pre-tipped online not knowing the "fees" charge was an added gratuity, so she was double tipped before I even got there. The ambiance is like a busy little diner. Not the cleanest, but you don't expect it to be. Obviously the customer service is lacking. The food was awful. I was home within 30 seconds, so I know it wasn't from travel time lol. The chai french toast used to be my favorite thing but I could barely get down the top piece. It was just too mushy. The fruit that I paid extra for was old and gross. The vegan bacon tasted like they put a whole bunch of black pepper on some leather. The cappuccino was 16 oz and had no foam, so I'm gonna call it a latte instead. Lacking any espresso flavor, it was just a boring milk coffee. I had to go get food from somewhere else.

Went here for breakfast! This place was happening. There was a 15 minute wait. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The menu had a lot to choose from. The ambiance was good. They have artwork up all over the wall. It was nice to look at. Our waiter was very quick and getting our order and drinks. The drinks came out in glass jars. The food was delicious! Great service and great food!

The spot: Quaint little breakfast spot with an extensive menu for breakfast and lunch. The menu includes some great vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free options. This place is small and has two different dining areas. I felt a bit claustrophobic sitting in the back dining area. I liked that they had plants around the restaurant. Bathroom appeared to be clean. There is a parking lot next to the restaurant, the lot was pretty tight, but appeared to have ample parking. Service was great. Our server was friendly. The eats: The Gluten Free Waffle, dusted with powdered sugar. This was not my favorite. It was very plain and really thick and dry. There wasn't enough butter or syrup to make this enjoyable. The Crab Cake Benedict was decent. The crab tasted pretty fresh. I swapped the english muffin out for gluten free bread. Came with two poached eggs on top of crab cakes, hollandaise, and fresh chives. The hollandaise sauce was good, but the dish could have had more. The chives was overkill. The server admitted she went a bit too crazy with the chives and I don't even like chives. I knew I should have omitted them, but figured it would just be a few I can work around. Served with breakfast potatoes, which were pretty good. I'm pretty sure this dish was not worth $18. My mom tried the Huevos Rancheros. The dish came with two over easy eggs on top of a tortilla shell, topped with avocado, black beans, cheddar cheese & pico de gallo. The tortillas were a bit tough. This lacked the ranchero sauce/salsa. The salsa provided wasn't very flavorful. The Blood Orange Mimosa was pretty tasty. Coffee was decent. Overall, everything lacked flavor. This was a pretty basic breakfast. I wasn't too impressed. For a place that promotes their restaurant as "The Best Breakfast in Dayton", this was quite disappointing. Perhaps we ordered the wrong items. If I'm ever back in the area, I may try this place again but there seems to be other great options in the area that I would consider first.

There is a small parking lot in the back where we were lucky enough to find a spot. We arrived around 9 on Saturday and did have a small wait for a table of 4. There are a lot of options on the menu including vegan and vegetarian which was exciting to see. We decided on a breakfast sandwich, pancakes, biscuits and gravy and French toast. If we were to come back I would 100% recommend the pancakes and French toast but the biscuits and gravy were not our favorite as they were a little dry. We had great service, some breakfast cocktails and overall enjoyed our visit.

I wish I could give 0 stars. I ordered the bacon avocado sandwich and the English muffin was drenched in butter and hard like a rock. There were supposed to be three eggs, but it looked more like 1 egg. I sent it back, do you think they asked me if I wanted something else? No they didn't. They were out of gluten free waffles. The place is fairly dirty inside and the water tastes really odd. I won't be back. This is definitely not a good breakfast option anymore!

Today's adventure brought us to Chef Danes first restaurant, a global comfort food diner called Culture. Culture is a pleasant, if a bit noisy at times, visceral experience of its namesake. The menu full of unique yet familiar dishes and ideas Invites one's culinary curiosity yet doesn't become unapproachable. On a different day I would have tried their Louisiana catfish, but today Patrick and I were on a mission. The specials were calling. Patrick and I have been trying to slowly become part of the Dayton community and Patrick's new job at Little Fish (a nearby bar and restaurant) has propelled us to dive further into our exploration. Patrick was made aware of Cultures new specials, a Thai cheesesteak and chicken tikka masala fries. We had to try them. So on this crisp and cold mid spring afternoon we decided to become cultured. First off we got the Chicken Tikka Masala Fries and we were quite impressed. I'm not the most familar with British Indian food (maybe a bit more than the average midwesterner but not by much) and the fries definitely brought a pleasant experience that Patrick an I enjoyed...but we didn't finish all of it at once. We saw a glimpse of what was to come and we didn't want to eat to fast and fill up to much. The picture I took does not do the Thai cheesesteak justice. It just had a certain presence coming off of the kitchen. We were sitting at the bar watching it all unfold for the most part and the smell was subtle yet hypnotizing. we finished maybe 3/5ths of the fries and waited for the sandwich. Once it got to use I cut it in half, Took as good of a pic as I could, Gave Patrick his half, And dug in. It might have been a bit too hot resulting in me burning my tongue but the flavor was encompassing. I could taste all the elements coming together in such a unique groove. Could be chalked up to just a damn good cheesesteak, they tend to illicit similar responses, but still. The first words out of my mouth after finishing that first bite were "holy shit". I then maybe finished the sandwich a bit fast but I couldn't help my self, i had to have it. It was so damn good. Well worth trying while they have it. To say anymore would spoil the experience. Anyway, I've rambled enough. I encourage you try Culture for yourself! Thank you. Drew, from Dayton

So we just walked in, and the host was kind enough to let us sit at the little bar area near the window. I like their ordering system. You have many options --- go up to the cash register and order there, order from the server who comes by your table (or in our case, bar), or use your phone by scanning the QR code. And if you use your phone, each person in your party can do it themselves on their own phone. Regardless, it all gets added to the same order for the same table. Pretty slick. At the end, when it comes time to pay, the app lets you split the check however you want, and you can even see the name of the person that ordered each item. The food was incredible. It's not cheap, and the portions are a little smaller than some might expect at an Italian restaurant. But for us, it was filling enough. I personally had the raviolo, which was delicious. Little did I know that in Italian, "raviolo" is singular while "ravioli" is plural. So I got one giant raviolo on my plate (see picture). I didn't care much for the runny egg yolk on top, but it was as advertised on the menu. All the other food orders were amazing, especially the desserts. I'd definitely come back once my food budget resets.

The menu rotates roughly every quarter, and given the use of fresh, locally sourced ingredients, the selection is a bit limited -- handful of vegetarian small plates, a few meat and a few seafood options. For the non-drinkers, they had two non-alcoholic cocktails available, but no NA beer. Beware though, as the NA cocktails were still around $11, which I always find frustrating as they are basically flavored sugar water. We tried the blackhawk beef burger and koji-aged ribeye. The blackhawk burger was a smash burger (thin patties, melted cheese), that tasted delicious. The ribeye was just as expected and cooked as ordered. The star of each of the entrees, however, was the thin cut, crispy fries. Good thing the fries were delicious because the sauces that came with it were quite bland -- would've preferred ketchup. For dessert we tried the bay leaf cheesecake. It was alright, had a subtle smokey flavor that I think threw us off a bit (although that was obviously the point given the bay leaf). Our server Renee was friendly and everything was prompt. Overall, we enjoyed our experience and the food was pretty good. Although, given the limited number of options on the menu, you'll definitely want to look at it ahead of time to make sure there is something that suits your palate.

The moment we stepped in, the modern aesthetic hit perfectly - clean lines, mood lighting, and just enough buzz to feel energetic without drowning out conversation. Our family gathering was greeted immediately by staff who seemed genuinely stoked to have us there. Major points for making a large group feel welcome! The menu is refreshingly concise - none of that overwhelming novel-length situation that makes you second-guess yourself three times. Their drink selection strikes that perfect balance too - enough variety in wines/beers/cocktails to satisfy everyone. They've got some non-alcoholic options as well. We started with the Kimchi Pancake and Brussels Sprouts for the table. Not gonna lie, I was skeptical about the pancake (kimchi can be hit or miss for me), but this was a revelation. The kimchi flavor was present but not overwhelming - just enough kick that played perfectly with the shiso and wasabi remoulade. And those Brussels? It's packed with flavor and disappeared in approximately 3.5 seconds... Maybe less! For my main course, went with my cousin's recommendation - the Koji Aged Ribeye. When it arrived I initially thought "that's it?" But this steak is deceptive. The thick cut topped with Togarashi Butter was significantly more filling than it looked. Cooked to absolute perfection, and that butter situation on top? A flavor bomb of sweet-spicy-savory that had me contemplating licking the plate - don't worry, I didn't! My taste buds were begging for more even when my stomach waved the white flag. That's when you know it's good. If you're anywhere near downtown Dayton, make Jollity a priority stop. Not sure when I'll be back in Ohio again, but would definitely have this resto on my return list.
