My dad and I stopped here for breakfast this morning. He's a an El Paso native and I'm visiting from out of town. He got the ultimate breakfast, and I got the build your own breakfast. Everything was great! The bacon was just the way we like it - crunchy and salty. The waffle tasted good, the over easy eggs were cooked perfectly. The only complaint I have was that the food wasn't actually very hot. Our server also did awesome! I didn't catch his name but he had a tattoo of a vine with leaves curling around his left arm. He was very attentive, asked us if we needed things before we even realized it, and was very polite. He also made my dad laugh responding to a joke he always likes to tell when he orders eggs. The best DENVER Omelet I instantly knew this was going to be my new favorite breakfast spot whenever I'm in town. The moment I walked in, the décor transported me back to what i would think would be the 50's - stepping into a classic diner with its charming blue accents. I couldn't help but admire the display of pies; I regret not trying one this time, but that's definitely on my list for next visit! The Denver omelet was hands down the best I've ever had, and my dad completely agreed. The multigrain berry and banana pancakes were also a standout - flavorful and just the right amount of sweetness. I'll be coming here every morning whenever I visit my dad. I enjoyed eating breakfast here. It was my first time and we went on a Sunday mid morning (10:30am). There was no wait but they were pretty full. We called before going. The service was quick and food was delivered in a reasonable time. We did very little waiting and the food was hot and delicious. The stuffed French toast was so good. I've never had stuffed French toast stuffed with cream cheese, but I'm looking forward to going back for more. My family enjoyed their food and we talked about it the whole way home. The prices are reasonable, we paid $43 for 3 of us. The inside is spacious and was very clean. Customer service was awesome. We plan to make this a regular spot for breakfast. read more

Menudo was actually pretty good considering it's not an authentic Mexican restaurant, it's rare when a local chain can out-do the local tex-mex places. The menudo was served without the pepper flakes, oregano, and limes and I had to ask for them, not a good sign. Coffee took a while and for the table to ask for it to be refilled, but I understand they were busy. Overall not a bad experience, but not the best. I wish I could give it a 3.5. read more

We have been there twice now and will not return. The first time we went we had Stacy as our server and she was good. The second time was Genesis and she was downright terrible. She rarely stopped back to the table. Additionally, the food took over 30 minutes to get for a party of 4. For breakfast? The manager asked how everything was, and I told him it was slow.... Taking 30 minutes to get food. He said he would check on it and then we heard nothing. Food is average. Too many places in El Paso to waste our money here. read more

We really enjoyed this place. Food was surprisingly good and properly prepared. Hash browns were nice and crispy and our pancakes were fluffy. Coffee was also great. The service here was honestly terrible. We sat at our table for 10 minutes before asking a passing by waitress if ours could come to our table. Even after she went to go find her she didnt come for another couple minutes. Every time wed ask for something she would leave and not come back for a good while. All the waitresses there seemed to talk to one another the whole time and barely check on their tables. It seemed like they were all there to talk and make friends vs serve their customers. Me and my family (of 5) went in for breakfast today and to say I'm disappointed is an understatement. At first the service was decent but when we got our food, one of my family members found a hair on his plate. We did tell the waitress about it but then she never apologized or took accountability for the poor food quality or offered a comp for the plate. We ended up speaking with the manager, who also never apologized or took accountability but eventually did offer a comp after a long conversation about accountability with her. Well. We've been village inn fans for many many years. As you may know our VI's are turning over to butter smith's now. Different decor, almost the same menu just a lot fewer options it seemed. This Butter Smith location on Hondo Pass is so pretty, but they take a long while serving and their food is average; I have visited them a couple of times, and it left me wishing I would have eaten somewhere else. read more

Come in to this place and greeted by the nice manager, the vibes inside the place quiet and calm especially having a 3 month with me. The GM she was so kind. Got sat at a table and the waitress was kinda rude. When we got sat she came up to the table and asked what drinks and we gave her our order then 15 minutes go by and still didn't have drinks, Mind you the place was not busy, maybe 3 other tables and all of them already had their food. When she finally comes to give us drink she immediately wants our order, the server didn't even ask if we wanted an appetizer. We gave her our order and left. Not even asking us if we needed refills in any drinks. We had to keep asking her and kept trying to her attention for more things for the table which were just napkins and refills that is all i wanted for the table. The server was so distracted and i did bring it the GM's attention as a former employee of Village Inn, well now known as Butter smith's. 20th time coming here and I have to say this place is truly great. I have yet to try the dinner snd lunch meals as I only go in the morning but the breakfast food is always spot on. So I can only assume the food during lunch and dinner are great. The service they provide is fast and on point, even when the place is packed, they still managed to not forget to check on you. If you dine in the left side (facing the the table you pay) you will have an amazing view of the mountains in El Paso. Thus place is truly under rated and deserves more stars than a 3 star rating. Breakfast Enchiladas- an outstanding choice Ultimate Breakfast- everything made just right and taste truly amazing Inn's Breakfast- I'm assuming this what started the popularity of this restaurant. As Diners go this one is slightly above average. Stopped in for breakfast and was immediately seated. The hostess and waitress were great and very friendly. The service was very good. I ordered the breakfast enchiladas with red sauce, which is one of their specialties. They were good but not great. The eggs and hash were really good but the red sauce was bland. Also the onions in the enchilada were raw. I don't recall having enchiladas with raw onions. Not a huge deal, just mentioning it so there are no surprises. In the end, the food was good and a good value. My entire meal was only $12. read more

We each ordered our choice of dinners and ordered coffee as our drinks. After taking our order, they brought us our coffee. The coffee was so bitter that none of us could drink it. And all three of us are daily coffee drinkers. We received our dinners and were more than disappointed. No flavor, no spice, greasy, luke warm... The service was slow, and our waitress was basically a "NO show". Never checked on us to see if everything was okay, etc. None of us finished any item on our plate. We left hungry, thirsty and out over $43.00. I miss Village Inn. It used to be our favorite place to eat when nothing else really sounded good. Butter Smiths took over, and I have to say I am not very impressed. Every server is extremely young & inexperienced. The menu is very limited. The food is still very good, the chefs know what they are doing! I will say the manager was AMAZING! Walking around making sure every guest was happy, things were getting taken care of! All in all, I would recommend this place when looking for good simple food. read more

We went to Butter Smith on Hondo Pass on Sunday August 20, 2023. I ordered the 4/$12., 2 pieces of bacon, eggs, French toast and an order of hash browns. When I got my order it came with 1 piece of French toast Cut in half. I brought it to my servers attention and she said that that is how they serve an order of French toast. 1 slice cut in half. When I asked how they served the senior or children's portion which is one slice. the manager came and told me that's just the way the wedo it and I could not get the additional slice of toast that was on the menu. And because she either cannot understand that 2 slices of French toast is an order I am forced to submit this bad review. I'm sure they drop more bread on the ground other than to make myFrench Toast order of 1 additional slice of toast right. Not bad (sorry I forgot to take a picture of my meal and now its half eaten..) so this is the second meal I have ordered from here and I can say it's pretty good. I ordered the pot roast dinner and I enjoyed it. Good flavors and a huge serving of it. Too much for me. But over all good and today I felt like breakfast for dinner, got the Denver's omelette and it was very filling and tasty. Large portions. Hash browns could be a toasted a bit more than it that is my thing, I'll just ask next time.
