Salt + Honey was one of my favorite stops in El Paso. I ordered the breakfast sandwich, the salt and feta fries, and tried two different coffees on separate visits. The fries were honestly some of the best I've ever had in my life, crispy, flavorful, and completely addictive ask for the feta and honey fries .The Turkish coffee was an experience in itself, rich, bold, and strong enough to keep me wide awake during a 14-hour drive. Busy place with a super cool vibe! The hostess and staff were super friendly, which made the wait (about 20 minutes after checking in at 10:45) no big deal. Totally worth it. Pretty sure it's at the bottom of an office building, but once you're inside (or outside) it doesn't matter. Also I think there is a pay parking lot attached to the property. We were able to park on the street. Which there was plenty of street parking. The are is a little dicey just fyi. We grabbed a spot on the patio it's huge, with ceiling fans keeping the breeze going. I was recently in the area and read that Salt + Honey was a great option for gluten free choices...and it was, but the hostess is terrible and not worth her salt. We came in as a party of 4 on a Saturday morning around 11:20 am and expected that there would be a bit of a wait. The hostess said it could be about 40-45 minutes and we said we'd be happy to be seated inside or outside--whatever was fastest. Now, I did try to make a reservation online but didn't see anything on their website and someone at the bar mentioned they don't do same-day reservations, so I assume you can call during business hours to make reservations as long as it's not on the same day. As we watched the wait list continue to dwindle, I did notice that the group sizes being seated before us didn't always make the most sense. And after almost an hour of waiting, I noticed that a 5-person party had been moved off the list to be seated while our 4-person party still waited to be sat. At this point, I was deeply frustrated because the seating made no sense to me, so I went to ask the hostess how soon we might expect to be seated. Lo and behold, there was a completely open table just behind her but it was being held for a group of 5....who wasn't there when our group of 4 has waited an hour at this point. So we can't sit there, but we CAN sit in any of the plenty of open seating they had outside?! Are you serious?!!! She even asked to confirm I was okay with being outside as if I hadn't previously said this and watched her write it down on my reservation.. I'm usually not one to make a fuss, but we were headed to the airport after this and it felt incredibly absurd to wait an hour to be seated when there was plenty of seating available. I will say that the food was good and drinks were excellent and if the hostess had seated us appropriately, I would have given this place a 5-star. Our favorite was the Shawarma Loaded Fries. 12/10, would get again. I had the Londoner with gluten free bread and the bread was really delicious, the green chili cheese hash browns were fabulous, and the house-made turkey sausage was divinely spiced. My sister had the Baklava pancakes and it was essentially just regular pancakes with a piece of baklava and more traditional baklava toppings. Good, but not amazing. Our friends both ordered the chicken + waffles and said it was good, but needed more syrup! I also grabbed a gluten free muffin for the flight and it was great! As far as drinks, I had a Strawberry Matcha Latte, a Pistachio Rose Latte, and a Salt + Honey Latte (this one was an oopsie - someone else ordered iced and they brought hot!) All were great, but the matcha was my favorite! Food was good. Drinks were great. Server was very polite, but disappeared at odd times including when we would naturally want the check. Ambiance was fine and looked upscale, but I'm salty about the seating. And the hostess gets 0 stars in my book. And the biggest slap in the face was to leave the restaurant after eating quickly only to see 4 people seated at the table we couldn't sit at because they were holding it for a group of 5. The food was amazing and we ordered chilaquiles, mother clucker, chicken and waffles and huevos benedictos with the caffe de olla latte and salt and honey latte as well as the arabian nights seen below. Everything was great and another male server even had is cut through the patio while it was raining to get back to the car so we wouldn't get wet which was very sweet. 10/10 overall and would 100% recommend read more

Very disappointed with our recent visit. We arrived around 8:00 AM and were seated immediately with menus and water, but it took nearly 30 minutes for anyone to come take our order--and only after we repeatedly tried making eye contact with staff. There were only two tables in the entire restaurant, making the lack of attention even more surprising. Once our food was ordered, it came out quickly, but we were never checked on afterward. No one asked how the food was, if we needed refills, or anything else. I eventually had to get up and go to the bar to ask for the check. Honestly, we could have walked out and I don't think anyone would have noticed. This isn't our first visit, which makes the experience even more disappointing. The espresso flight was probably one of the most creative things I've seen on a menu and in person in a long time. They were all very sweet and very clever. Had the Aquiles Heel, it was a lot of food. Got a little bit frustrated trying to get some fork traction on the circular metal bowl, which didn't seem to have any grip with the table. Every review is based on someone's experience. And for some, when they visit a place they have a great experience. And for others, not so much. For me, my experience at this place was not the greatest. It wasn't terrible, just not the greatest. First, the wait here was crazy long. I get wait times, especially in newly opened places but the wait here was long. But we decided to stay. I saw group after group walking away once they knew the wait time was over an hour. And it wasn't because there were not enough tables, there were plenty of tables. I assume, like a lot of restaurants these days, they just don't have enough servers. We tried to order coffees at the bar while we waited, but this place was so short staffed (presumably) that you could stand at the bar and go unnoticed. When I was finally noticed the bartender figured I was picking up a to go order and when he realized I just wanted a coffee drink he agreed to take the order. Second, the ambiance. Clearly this place didn't hire a sound engineer when designing the interior. I'll never fully understand why restaurants will create tile floors, barren ceilings with no place for the sound to go which results in the sound echoing all over the place. So much so, you can't have a conversation with the people at your own table. We sat in the back room and we literally had to shout at our server for them to hear want we wanted to order. With other parties being so loud in the room, we asked to be moved. Which, the happily accommodated. I'm not asking for a library when I eat, but I shouldn't have to shout at the server to place in order. But let's end on a good note... The service was great when we finally had a server grab our order. The server was nice and attentive to the table. Checked on us from time to time and took our order with a smile. Even when we asked to move, they were so nice about us moving. They food came out fairly quickly and it was really good! Five stars on the service! The food was fantastic. I ordered the Londoner which consisted of eggs, sausage, bread and hash browns and portobellos. The hash browns were cooked perfectly. Crispy on the top and on the bottom, and seasoned so nicely. The cheese on the inside took these hash browns to the next level. I didn't even have to salt and pepper them! The pancakes were some of the best I've had. They were vanilla infused pancakes which, again, took them to another level. Everyone at the table said their dish was really good! I would say five stars on the food! Coffee was delicious. I ordered the strawberry matcha latte and we also got the salt and honey latte. They also were really good! I would come back just for the coffee! All in all, this place was good. Food was great and the service was fantastic. If you come, and don't like loud places, bring some ear plugs. And maybe call ahead to see what the wait time might be. I am no expert on chilaquiles, but I thoroughly enjoyed this dish. The salsa had a perfect little kick to it that wasn't overwhelming but enough to build up a bit as you go. Like many modern brunch spots, Salt + Honey relies on natural light that spills in through the windows, a splash of greenery, and some modern decorations. Our waitress was friendly and super patient with our family of 14. Outside of the ambiance and service, the food was average or miss. My eggs benedict was decent but not super noteworthy, the tacos borrachos that my partner got wasn't my favorite, and other dishes like the french toast that other family members got was just a lot of bread and sugar. My favorite part of my meal was the pistachio rose latte which was a good balance of aromatic, mild sweetness, and earthy coffee flavor. The salt and honey latte was just average. I think everything about this place was amazing. The parking is literally a parking lot outside the building. It's a couple of feet you have to walk.... You just go into the lobby and the door is right there AND they validate parking. We sat at the bar and had the best server ever. They were soo attentive and amazing. They made our experience extremely memorable. The food and drinks were SOOO good. I think maybe if you have a limited food palette and/or have never had Mediterranean or European food, maybe then the menu could be an issue. Although they also have a ton of regular shmegular items on the menu. The place is beautiful as well. I honestly don't know what the bad reviews were but everyone has their own experiences I guess. Parking in the lot will need to be validated unless you have favor and find a good spot on the street. The bar sells it all if you don't mind that seating. We didn't. Otherwise, a short wait for a table may be in order. When we came on a Friday morning the wait was about 10 minutes for a table. Not bad at all. It's located on the first floor of a building shared by some sort of dermatology place if I'm not mistaken. Convenient for them. Service was decent. A group of us went for a birthday brunch. It was a first time for most of us. One of our friends got there at 10:45 to get on the waitlist, and the rest of us got there at 11. We didn't get seated until around noon. So, let me tell you, I've heard plenty about Salt and Honey, so I was expecting it to be very good. I even asked other friends who had been to send me some recommendations. I got a mocha latte, which was ok. I tried the cappuccino, which had been recommended, and wasn't a fan. I got the Londoner plate as my plate. The only exceptional thing on it was the green chili hash browns- those were GREAT. Also great, the bacon, which was super crispy and that's how I like it, and the toast, which was fantastic (I think it's baked in house). Everything else was ok. A friend got the grilled cheese, she enjoyed it, her favorite thing was the fruit, which was very fresh. Another friend said she enjoyed her Heuvos Benedictos. My partner got the Borracho Tacos and I tasted them- those were very good. Overall, it was ok, nothing above average, a little over-priced in my opinion, and certainly not worth that wait. read more
