Butterjoint is set in the Oakland area amongst the hustle and bustle of college life. The restaurant is very large and very accommodating. We had a group of 17 people, and they easily were able to get us in! There's a parking garage across the street, so parking was not super difficult. Our group had mimosas and cocktails, which were delightful. Many of us ordered multiple dishes. For my meal, I ordered the quiche as well as the crumpets and jam. Both were tasty and delicious. My husband ordered the brown sugar pop tart, French onion soup, and their famous burger. He enjoyed every aspect of his meal. Our group also tried the pancakes as well as the crab benedict. Both of those dishes were so-so, and I wouldn't get them again! They have a little bakery/cafe on site where you can order pastries. They are also known for their vinegar pie, so of course, I had to try it! It was definitely a different flavor, and I am glad that I tried it. It tasted like a less sweet version of a pecan pie. The vinegar really helped to cut the sweetness. This restaurant was accommodating and the service was great. Their food was good but the company was even better. I will definitely be back!

Came as part of a large group for a work lunch, we had two large tables and excellent service. I had the fancy burger with the smoked pepper aioli on the side - I was worried it would be too spicy, but it was great. Our server was excellent. Parking can be a challenge in this area, but I was fortunate to find a spot out front. If going with a large group, I recommend carpooling.

A friend and I stopped by on Thursday night shortly after seven and were able to get a table right away. The inside consists of a bar area and an area with tables and booths. Our server was great at checking in on us and not rushing us because we yapped for hours. They also have handheld devices and can take Apple Pay which is great. The vinegar pie and fries fried in tallow are Butterjoint classics. The goat sandwich was so tender and flavorful. I also enjoyed their miso nuts and their French onion soup. This restaurant is a staple and I'll be back!

Really cute vibes and a nice place for a meal with solid drinks and sandwiches! Butterjoint had a casual but really nice atmosphere, with some really cute decorations. Their house cocktails were all pretty unique and interesting, my favorite was the sage and grapefruit one, nice strong flavors. Fancy chicken sandwich was fantastic, chicken fried perfectly with kimchi and sauce with a little kick, definitely recommend. The tallow fries are also worth it, very crispy with good flavor. Getting any of their sandwiches would be my recommendation honestly. On the other hand, I think their pierogis are fine, pretty solid but a little over priced at $4 per Perogi for the shared plate. Don't think it's a must try, but the sandwiches and desserts are worth coming in for!

Great burger! Nice, hip design of the bar/restaurant. Came here midday on a weekday for lunch and it was quiet and relaxing.

Absolutely phenomenal burger at butterjoint, paired with some of the best fries in the city. The Diet Coke is nice and fizzy/cold and the service behind the counter was excellent. Also this spot reminds me of a good New York joint with dark lightning and low cozy ceilings. Love this spot!

Big fan of the cow shaped cream dispenser. It came with our coffee. Vinegar pie does not disappoint! Service was really fast and I love how you can just walk in without a reservation because it's such an unexpectedly big place!

I recently re-visited Butterjoint for dinner. I made a reservation online and our table was ready when I arrived. For my drink, I orderer the 'bartender's choice' cocktail. I think they do a great job with their bartenders choice cocktail every time! We ordered some apps for the table. We ordered the 'Lumps' which are Japanese milk bread rolls and the Falafel, which comes with a cucumber salad. For my entree, I ordered the butterjoint burger. It is served with their tallow fries. Honestly, I think it's one of the best burgers in the city. So good! I also took home a piece of chocolate cake for dessert. Overall, our experience from start to finish was great! Definitely check out Butterjoint!

Such a cozy and cute spot with excellent service. Got the kale Caesar and the pierogi with sausage. Best pierogi I've had and I can't wait to get it again!

We arrived, and the host immediately seated us. It wasn't busy, and there were plenty of tables available. Our waitress was lovely and cheerful; love her vibe and aesthetic. I couldn't quite make sense of the restaurant's theme. One room had retro wallpaper while near the entrance, the ceiling was adorned with Oriental lanterns. I suppose they were going for an eclectic vibe? We got the bread and butter, and it was delightful. The butter was made with cranberry, coriander, and a hint of either lemon or lime, I think. I never knew a butter mixture could be so tasty. I also ordered the chicken salad, and it was hearty. It was quite large, so I had to take the leftovers home. Overall, it's a classic American restaurant with delicious meals. I'll come back, especially for that bread and fruit butter!

Everything about my meal here was wonderful. From the wait staff to the chef coming to our table to check in and tell us about the specials to the actual dishes themselves, my entire party walked away raving. We were treated to delicious homemade pop tarts, a phenomenal sausage patty, eggs Benedict, and a Dutch baby. It truly didn't matter if it was sweet or savory, every bite was delectable. My group enjoyed the meal, ambiance, and time connecting with the staff tremendously. I was in town for a sports event, but if I'm ever back in town, I would absolutely stop in again!

We stopped into Butterjoint for a quick bite and drink, and it was delightful. The bar lighting is very moody, and the music is great. Our bartender was very friendly and quickly took our drink orders. He checked in with us regularly, and we ended up having a great conversation about Coldplaygate. I opted for the fries, which are made in beef tallow. They. Were. Amazing. And so is the aioli. They were so fresh and crispy, and the aioli was the perfect pairing. My friend ordered the salad, and she was very happy with it. The veggies were crisp and fresh, and the dressing was a great accompaniment. We will definitely be back!

Now, I am going to take you on a journey just like the books Belle read so strap in. We had a 5:45 PM reservation, and even arrived a few minutes early. The hostess/employee (I don't want to assume positions) took me upstairs for a table right by the window, which will be an awesome view when the construction finishes. It was also a beautiful sight of that part of the city as-is. When I was seated, I was one of a few tables seated. It was not full or even busy at that time. Also, as we were seated, we were given waters. My friend joined me about 5-7 minutes after the reservation time. We then ordered our drinks at about 6:00/6:05 PM. From there, we waited and did not meet our waiter, who will be referred to as sweet baby angel Max from here on out, until about 6:20 PM. We ordered an appetizer and two entrees at around this time. Our orders had some modifications but nothing major. By this time, many more tables were seated upstairs and others seemingly received their alcoholic drinks and even appetizers by the time we received only our drinks around 6:30-6:40. Our drinks were big, too, which is great, but that also meant we had to drink them a little more quickly due to the time constraints with the show. We were enjoying ourselves but noticed multiple more tables receiving not only their drinks and apps but also their entrees. Once 6:55 came, we had to tell sweet baby angel Max about our predicament. I will be honest and say we suggested for our drinks to be comped at least - not only for the wait and lack of courtesy with everyone else receiving their items before us despite our arrival and reservation time, but for the fact that we would have maybe 15 minutes to eat, finish our drinks, pay, take our food back to our cars, and make curtain time. What sweet baby angel Max did next flabbered our gasts -- he said not only will our drinks be comped but our whole meal will be comped. He also helped pack our food and kept it in the back so we didn't have to worry about going back to our cars. We made sure to tip him with all we had! We are so glad we did because when we returned after the show, he had the kitchen remake the food and kept it warm for us. When you go to The Eagle, ask for sweet baby angel Max and you will not be disappointed with him, the service, or the food. Because even when they may mess up? The Eagle gets it right with their classy attitude and positive treatment of their customers. You definitely have multiple return customers just from this encounter. Thank you!!!

The best part was that the Parmesan was spread all throughout the fries instead of being clumped just at the top or bottom, which made every bite delicious. We also got a Coke in a glass bottle -- honestly the best part to top off the meal! One thing to note is that seating inside is limited, and the chairs are very small, so it may be better for a quick stop rather than a long sit-down meal. Definitely recommend!

The inside is fairly small with tables on one side and chairs lining the other. As an FYI, the chairs are fairly narrow because of the arm placement, so if you are a larger person, it might be uncomfortable. The menu is simple. They have wings (and a variety of sauce options) but I didn't order or try them, so I can't speak to that. They also have two different fry size options with about 12 different options for the dipping sauce. Some were standard (mayo, ketchup) but they also had unique flavors like curry ketchup, mango mayo and andalouse. I ended up with the mango as my included choice and got an additional side of the andalouse. The fries are cooked to order, so it can take a bit (I imagine when they are busier they might have some precooked) but they were cooked to perfection. Just the right amount of crisp and salt. But the dipping sauce is what really makes the experience. If you order to go, you don't get the fun, traditional Belgian fry cones which I understand (because how could they be packed efficiently to go) but it was a tiny bit disappointing. There is a paid parking lot across the street, but there is also a lot of street parking in the area as well. This is definitely some place I will be back to visit!

LOVED our dinner at this place…read more We came here for dinner while visiting Pittsburgh. The first thing that struck me was the interior decor. Very industrial and moody with an open kitchen/preparation area that adds some intrigue. I do like to see the happenings of what's going on as someone with zero attention span. Service was excellent. George was fantastic. He kept a close eye on us without being overbearing. He anticipated what we might need so we didn't spend one second waiting to order anything. The menu is not endless or overwhelming which, presumably, allows them to focus on the items that are listed. I have decision panic so it was kinda nice to have less things to choose from. They asked if there were any allergies or dietary restrictions so I mentioned my vegetarianism. George went through the menu and pointed out the vegetarian options including what seems like it is vegetarian but isn't. They had TWO vegetarian entree options and fortunately the non-mushroom one was something I probably would have ordered anyway: pesto with walnuts, arugula, and a very generous amount of grated cheese. To start, I ordered the Brussels sprouts whichc I was warned had fish sauce. This was fine but nothing that blew me away. GF, on the other hand, loved this. GF ordered the wedge which was brought to our attention as vegetarian with the bacon on the side, which was her request. We ended up sharing both, a large part of that was because hers came out first and I couldn't wait but I'm so glad because the wege was FANTASTIC. The dressing? holy fuck pure ecastasy. The wedge was more like a filet shape which was much easier to eat. Who decided on the wedge shape anyway? The lettuce was so fresh and crisp and went wonderfully with that orgasmic dressing and breadcrumbs. Back to my pasta. Also delectable. Noodles were al dente. The sauce was creamy and packed that pesto umami flavor. The walnuts were a really nice contrast in texture. Everything about it absolutely fucking slapped. GF ordered the mushroom entree which came served on a bed of barley which, don't mind if I do, had a few forkfuls to "sample" for "my review". Again, so fucking good. Because it was my birthday, George provided a dessert (yuzu maybe?) that was served inside a meringue-esque igloo, creamy perfect balance of sweet and tart custard with some berry business underneath. Wonderful. I almost forgot their spectacular cocktails! Holy shit, literally they have a CORN CHIP cocktail that I could not pass up. It comes with two massive cornchips on top of a flavored foam. When you bring the glass up to sip, the cornchips are right in front of your nose and their aroma sets the stage for the drink which was STRONG. It wasn't as corn chip forward as I expected but I understand that flavor is probaly hard to create. For my second drink, I ordered the blue one which was refreshing, light, and really good. GF ordered a spritz which was gorgeous "it was good". For second round, I picked out some uranium thing that was very cucumbery, GF says, "it was good". I just read it outloud to her. "it's true!" Fantastic meal at a great place.
