Last week, my friend and I visited The Eagle before the 7:30 showing of Beauty and the Beast on its opening night. Now, I am going to take you on a journey just like the books Belle read so strap in. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We had a 5:45 PM reservation, and even arrived a few minutes early. The hostess/employee (I don't want to assume positions) took me upstairs for a table right by the window, which will be an awesome view when the construction finishes. It was also a beautiful sight of that part of the city as-is.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I was seated, I was one of a few tables seated. It was not full or even busy at that time.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Also, as we were seated, we were given waters. My friend joined me about 5-7 minutes after the reservation time. We then ordered our drinks at about 6:00/6:05 PM. From there, we waited and did not meet our waiter, who will be referred to as sweet baby angel Max from here on out, until about 6:20 PM. We ordered an appetizer and two entrees at around this time. Our orders had some modifications but nothing major. By this time, many more tables were seated upstairs and others seemingly received their alcoholic drinks and even appetizers by the time we received only our drinks around 6:30-6:40. Our drinks were big, too, which is great, but that also meant we had to drink them a little more quickly due to the time constraints with the show. We were enjoying ourselves but noticed multiple more tables receiving not only their drinks and apps but also their entrees. Once 6:55 came, we had to tell sweet baby angel Max about our predicament. I will be honest and say we suggested for our drinks to be comped at least - not only for the wait and lack of courtesy with everyone else receiving their items before us despite our arrival and reservation time, but for the fact that we would have maybe 15 minutes to eat, finish our drinks, pay, take our food back to our cars, and make curtain time. What sweet baby angel Max did next flabbered our gasts -- he said not only will our drinks be comped but our whole meal will be comped. He also helped pack our food and kept it in the back so we didn't have to worry about going back to our cars. We made sure to tip him with all we had! We are so glad we did because when we returned after the show, he had the kitchen remake the food and kept it warm for us. When you go to The Eagle, ask for sweet baby angel Max and you will not be disappointed with him, the service, or the food. Because even when they may mess up? The Eagle gets it right with their classy attitude and positive treatment of their customers. You definitely have multiple return customers just from this encounter. Thank you!!!
We missed our reservation time but they were able to find a table for us which was awesome! The greeting staff were fantastic and friendly. Our waitress was very nice but I could tell she was slammed so we just had to flag her down if we needed anything. We ordered hush puppies which were nicely fried, had a spice kick to them which was a nice surprise to normal hush puppies you're used to. The fries were good but a little too herby. We had the burnt ends mac n cheese, the pork bits were fantastic and when eating it with the mac then it's a nice bite together. The mac alone was lacking. Needed seasoned. I thought it needed a vegetable too like green onions or something crunchy would have been a nice addition. I asked for the ranch part on the side but they still topped it with it. The biscuits were nicely cooked but I think under salted. The honey butter makes it. We truly didn't order anything over-complicated and it took an hour, they were slammed for the Benedum show rush. Good to know if we come before a show.
Loved this place. Was suprised to find that their kale salad was such a gem! If you appreciate a good salad I highly recommend. The chicken was good, had a sweet twang to it which isn't usually my flavor choice but still was a great meal. The bartender was my waiter and was excellent. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The bar was clean and had large windows that gave great light.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great bar to watch games and felt comfortable and modern.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]
It's not easy to get fried chicken right. It's got to be brined appropriately, have seasoning in both the meat and the batter, be moist, and have a nice crunch. The Eagle checked about every box. Excellent flavor, crispy skin, enough salt. The meat itself was slightly dry in some spots, but even that considered, this is still amazing chicken. The cornbread is almost like a dessert - moist, buttery, sweet with little corn kernels inside the cake. The greens of course were tender and also had great flavor. (Between two people, I'd recommend at least three sides.) [[HIGHLIGHT]]Place was packed on a Saturday night.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The servers were laid back, friendly, and helpful with the menu. This place gets five stars.
Food was good and so was my drink. I would eat here again. Was in walking distance of our hotel.
The fried chicken sandwich in Downtown Pittsburgh at The Eagle has consistently been a hit for me. Each time I've gone, the service is friendly and mostly efficient. They seem to handle larger groups well and often. This past visit, I tried the Mac and Cheese as well as the Sweet Potato Crock and both of those side dishes were delicious. The sweet potato was more like a dessert and I'm not complaining. The salt of the chicken went well with the sweetness of the crock. The Mac n cheese was hot and cheesy in all the right ways. I definitely felt transported to the south!
We LOVE The Eagle!!! We've been a handful of times and have always had a great experience. The service was great, and the food was even better. Their burnt ends mac n cheese was literally the best i've ever had... we ate it in like less than 5 minutes. I also loved how the bacon cheeseburger had chopped up bacon all over. It made sure you got a perfect ratio of bacon in every bite. You definitely can't order wrong here!

Great experience! Lily, our waitress was so nice and explained in detail their menu. She was very attentive and helpful. We stopped in for dinner on Tuesday, no reservations were needed at 6:30pm and I had the Mac n cheese and the small portion of a southern chopped salad. Both were outstanding, and filling. My husband had a BLT with fried chicken ( no picture) and fries. Both really good. Parking lot across the street.
I love love love the eagle but this was NOT GOOD tonight. [[HIGHLIGHT]]3 homeless men sitting at the bar getting water and staring at guests.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My chicken sandwich was burnt - the chicken was so burnt. Mac and cheese didn't have the garlicky flavor like normal.

I got the Prosseco Punch to drink and my husband got a Guinness draft. The drinks were delicious and fairly priced. For food, I got the Burnt End Mac and cheese bowl. It was really good but a little too wet. I also got the sweet potato crock. It was definitely the star of the show and was delicious. My husband got a burger and fries, both were tasty. The food and drinks were fairly priced, especially for the area. The staff was very nice, our waitress was very attentive.
Food is good. Service just ok. Had a work lunch there and service could've been more attentive. It seemed piecemealed together but the restaurant wasn't busy. Server put in an extra Mac and cheese by accident. He offered it to us and stated he would take it off the bill, doing expenses and he didn't. We told him we didn't order it, he offered it and to remove it. Anywho the chicken BLT is top notch.
Drinks were good and service was great. Food was just greasy and did not taste the best for the price paid.

I visited the eagle earlier this week before hitting a show at the Benedum. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant has a cool industrial feel, a big bar and a nice beer selection[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our server was very polite however, the service was slow and inconsistent, indicating potentially some understaffing issues. The fried chicken was solid but not amazing, all of the sides were good but not great, our food came out all at different times, and one of the sides I ordered never arrived, only to be told later they didn't have It in house anyways. I wanted to love the Eagle. I liked It! I'm just not sure I liked It enough to return. read more

Fantastic! Went here on a whim when our previous plans were ruined. Super glad we did! We didnt have reservations but were able to get seated right away. I got a Guinness and the pimento cheese burger. Both were delicious. The true star of the show was my wife's order of sweet potato pot, omg I'm going to dream about that. We've really enjoyed this spot on both of our visits. The first time, we just stopped in for drinks at the bar--both cocktails were fantastic, and the service was top-notch. The restaurant is spacious and had a fairly large bar. On our second visit, we came for lunch and brought our son along. We all ordered the fried chicken, and it did not disappoint. It was perfectly cooked--crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. We also tried a few sides: the biscuits, mac & cheese, and collard greens. Every single one was delicious, but the mac & cheese especially stood out--creamy, flavorful, and just the right amount of cheesy. The service remained consistently great: friendly, attentive, and helpful without being overbearing. Parking is street-only, so it can be a bit hit or miss, but we lucked out both times and found a spot nearby. All in all, this place has quickly become one of our go-to's, and we're already looking forward to our next visit. read more

Our server was amazing; I wish I remembered her name. The food was great, I loved the bite that the hush puppies had to them! I do wish my peach jalapeño margarita had a little more bite (to me it just tasted like a regular margarita which I love but I didn't taste peach or jalapeño). Great location, walking distance to Benedum and convention center. When we arrived it was crowded since it was a show night but then the restaurant cleared out right before 7pm. They have a nice mix of booths and tables and some standingroom only counters behind the bar! Smaller menu but something for everyone. Would go back! read more

My husband and I grabbed a fairly last minute reservation for Valentine's Day. Traffic was awful and we were a bit late but they were very nice about it. We were greeted by two very enthusiastic people and seated right away. We've been here before and it's a cute place. There's a bar in the middle with lots of seating - low tables, high top tables, and rounded booths. We waited for our server as we perused the special Valentine's Day menu. The person who sat us came back over and said that our server was swamped so she grabbed us some water. Then about 10 minutes later she saw that we still hadn't been visited so she took our orders as well. We got a spicy chicken dip to share (it's very spicy but so delicious). We also both ordered Prosecco which was also brought over by the same person (still no server to be seen). Someone from the kitchen brought out our meals. I ordered a 1/4 white meat with a side of mac and cheese. Both were very good and I was only able to eat a little less than half of my portion. FINALLY, our server stopped by to see if we liked our food and refilled our drinks. She never introduced herself. She was very nice but I would have appreciated a quick apology for not showing up at our table until we already had food. Our server gave us the check and disappeared. We had a show to attend afterward so my husband left to take our leftovers to the car while I searched for the server so we could pay. Guess what?! The same person who sat us, got our water, served our Prosecco, etc came over to ring us out as well. I asked her name because honestly she earned the tip much more than our server. Her name is Nicole and she assured us that she is a manager and was happy to help. We appreciate that so much and she saved for experience from being a poor one for sure! For the record we are amazing tippers. Especially on a holiday, I had planned to tip at least 50% of the bill but I just could not justifying doing so when we saw our server twice - once to check in on our food/refill our water and another to drop off the bill. We gave 15% and moved on. If I had cash on me, I would have given the difference of what I had planned to give to Nicole. Again, she's amazing! I'm sure we will end up there again. It's such a convenient location especially when you are seeing a show at any of those theaters. Thanks for the fun night. read more

3.5 perhaps. Easily booked a reservation via Yelp for dinner here before a show. Walked right in and were quickly seated. The place was very busy. Service was very slow, perhaps because of crowd. Took awhile to get greeted by server. By the time she arrived we were ready to place drink and food order in. Drinks probably took a good 10-15 minutes to arrive. Ordered spoon bread as an app, but never came as an app. We both ordered the chicken BLT. The sandwiches and the spoon bread came out together, not what we had hoped for. We had to ask for bill as well, which we saw those around us having to do as well. The food was solid but the service was what pulled the score down. read more

headed over to eagle and truly- if you know you knooooow. We got some apps to share and then split some drumsticks. I'm not even going lie, I've been thinking about those drumsticks since we ate them. Idk why but I've been on a wing kick lately and it seems everyone is better than the last. The breading was perfectly crisped, the chicken expertly seasoned, fall off the bone tender. That hot honey to pair? Hoooooney it was GOUD. If you've had the mac at the eagle you know why it was hard to just get it as a side- however, it was JUST what the doctor ordered. The spoonbread cornbread is a perfect example of what most cornbreads want to be but never really achieve. Soft, sweet, crumbly yet still holds its shape. Fries are a must in every environment. Alina volcano sauce is a staple drink in my sour beer rotation so. Idk the entire day from start to finish genuinely was just really lovely and GOUD. Holy cow. Never thought I'd rave about a salad from a fried chicken joint, but I will forever crave this salad. It had everything you could want! Blue cheese, pecans, bacon, corn and the most delicious lemon thyme ranch I've ever had! Not to mention the chicken! It was grilled to perfection and marinated in an herb rub. About a month ago my friend and I chose this spot to spend our Steeler Sunday! She's a vegetarian and I was surprised at how many options this place had for her when she suggested it! Our server was so so kind and attentive, with multiple other staff members checking in throughout our experience. The restaurant wasn't busy, so our food came super quickly! We ordered the hushpuppies, kale salad, Mac n cheese, sweet potatoes, spoon bread, and I ordered the fried chicken BLT for myself. We shared everything else and were stuffed with leftovers to spare! I enjoyed the champagne punch and blackberry lemonade! The blackberry lemonade was giant! Definitely a generous cocktail serving! My three friends and I stopped in on a whim before a concert, and I'm so glad we did! The place came highly recommended by my close foodie friend--she knows her stuff, and once again, she did not disappoint. Our waitress was beyond amazing! I wish I had caught her name because she truly made our night. She walked us through the menu, highlighted what the restaurant is known for, helped us pick out the best drinks, and honestly felt like our personal hype girl. Such great energy! I ordered the chicken sandwich, split the hush puppies with the group, and had the jalapeño margarita--all exceptional. I also snuck a bite of the mac and cheese and grabbed a fry, and those were just as good. I'm already planning a return visit--next time, I've got my eye on their famous fried chicken! read more

I've been to the eagle before and Ronnie, our server has been my server before. She's always gracious and smiling. This visit was on Mother's Day and preempted by a dog saving mission (which caused me to forget photos of the food). That said I got the chicken BLT. It was delicious but spicer than I anticipated. I also got the sweet potato crock and a blackberry lemonade. The restaurant was filling up for dinner but conversation was had and you didn't have to scream at your other diners. It was casual and well lit! Highly recommend as a pre-game stop pr casual happy hour stop. read more

While the food was great, the service was unfortunately, forgettable. The fried chicken was flavorful and juicy. The biscuits were more like scones as they were dense, but the accompaniments paired well. Our favorite was the jalapeño hush puppies with the comeback sauce.
