Fried chicken green beans mashed potatoes

Food was good and so was my drink. I would eat here again. Was in walking distance of our hotel.

    Beautiful bar!

Loved this place. Was suprised to find that their kale salad was such a gem! If you appreciate a good salad I highly recommend. The chicken was good, had a sweet twang to it which isn't usually my flavor choice but still was a great meal. The bartender was my waiter and was excellent. The bar was clean and had large windows that gave great light. Great bar to watch games and felt comfortable and modern.

It's not easy to get fried chicken right. It's got to be brined appropriately, have seasoning in both the meat and the batter, be moist, and have a nice crunch. The Eagle checked about every box. Excellent flavor, crispy skin, enough salt. The meat itself was slightly dry in some spots, but even that considered, this is still amazing chicken. The cornbread is almost like a dessert - moist, buttery, sweet with little corn kernels inside the cake. The greens of course were tender and also had great flavor. (Between two people, I'd recommend at least three sides.) Place was packed on a Saturday night. The servers were laid back, friendly, and helpful with the menu. This place gets five stars.

The fried chicken sandwich in Downtown Pittsburgh at The Eagle has consistently been a hit for me. Each time I've gone, the service is friendly and mostly efficient. They seem to handle larger groups well and often. This past visit, I tried the Mac and Cheese as well as the Sweet Potato Crock and both of those side dishes were delicious. The sweet potato was more like a dessert and I'm not complaining. The salt of the chicken went well with the sweetness of the crock. The Mac n cheese was hot and cheesy in all the right ways. I definitely felt transported to the south!

The food here was excellent. It has a cool atmosphere inside. I came later at night following seeing a play, so the service was a little slower likely to fewer staff around, but still very friendly. I definitely recommend the fried chicken sandwich.

We LOVE The Eagle!!! We've been a handful of times and have always had a great experience. The service was great, and the food was even better. Their burnt ends mac n cheese was literally the best i've ever had... we ate it in like less than 5 minutes. I also loved how the bacon cheeseburger had chopped up bacon all over. It made sure you got a perfect ratio of bacon in every bite. You definitely can't order wrong here!

Great experience! Lily, our waitress was so nice and explained in detail their menu. She was very attentive and helpful. We stopped in for dinner on Tuesday, no reservations were needed at 6:30pm and I had the Mac n cheese and the small portion of a southern chopped salad. Both were outstanding, and filling. My husband had a BLT with fried chicken ( no picture) and fries. Both really good. Parking lot across the street.

I love love love the eagle but this was NOT GOOD tonight. 3 homeless men sitting at the bar getting water and staring at guests. My chicken sandwich was burnt - the chicken was so burnt. Mac and cheese didn't have the garlicky flavor like normal.

We went here on a Friday around 5pm and got seated right away. Most people had reservations, but we did not. The restaurant is pretty large. The food menu is small but so it is easy to choose food from. The alcohol and non alcoholic drink menus are huge. I got the Prosseco Punch to drink and my husband got a Guinness draft. The drinks were delicious and fairly priced. For food, I got the Burnt End Mac and cheese bowl. It was really good but a little too wet. I also got the sweet potato crock. It was definitely the star of the show and was delicious. My husband got a burger and fries, both were tasty. The food and drinks were fairly priced, especially for the area. The staff was very nice, our waitress was very attentive.

Food is good. Service just ok. Had a work lunch there and service could've been more attentive. It seemed piecemealed together but the restaurant wasn't busy. Server put in an extra Mac and cheese by accident. He offered it to us and stated he would take it off the bill, doing expenses and he didn't. We told him we didn't order it, he offered it and to remove it. Anywho the chicken BLT is top notch.

Drinks were good and service was great. Food was just greasy and did not taste the best for the price paid.

Fantastic! Went here on a whim when our previous plans were ruined. Super glad we did! We didnt have reservations but were able to get seated right away. I got a Guinness and the pimento cheese burger. Both were delicious. The true star of the show was my wife's order of sweet potato pot, omg I'm going to dream about that. The building has a nice, clean vibe and there's plenty of tvs to watch a game if that's your thing.

We've really enjoyed this spot on both of our visits. The first time, we just stopped in for drinks at the bar--both cocktails were fantastic, and the service was top-notch. The restaurant is spacious and had a fairly large bar. On our second visit, we came for lunch and brought our son along. We all ordered the fried chicken, and it did not disappoint. It was perfectly cooked--crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. We also tried a few sides: the biscuits, mac & cheese, and collard greens. Every single one was delicious, but the mac & cheese especially stood out--creamy, flavorful, and just the right amount of cheesy. The service remained consistently great: friendly, attentive, and helpful without being overbearing. Parking is street-only, so it can be a bit hit or miss, but we lucked out both times and found a spot nearby. All in all, this place has quickly become one of our go-to's, and we're already looking forward to our next visit.

That it was takeout only presented a dilemma for me, as I was just visiting the North Side for the day by bus and foot, and had no place to take my order. Of the two people behind the counter, one could not have cared less about my dilemma, but the other was of some help with this and my order. I wound up walking two blocks downhill to a park with benches. Second, that all orders are cooked to order and take 25 minutes. Fortunately there is a branch of the Pittsburgh Public Library across the street and it was open, so that occupied my time. The food: the chicken and catfish are fried in light crispy breading, very fine. The chicken wingettes were delicious. The catfish was not easily flaked and was ever so slightly rubbery, which would have been a very bad sign if it had been any more so. But it wasn't too bad. Green beans are a good side dish at this sort of joint, and these were good, seasoned with meat and sautéed onions mixed in. The white rice was entirely plain but tasty.

The host was very personable, funny and made sure we had a great seat for dinner. The energy of this place is so intimate and relaxing. There's fuchsia neon lights up against forest green velvet walls, and every decorative detail is curated perfectly. The food here changes frequently and seasonally from what I could see on the menu. We ordered a crispy potato appetizer and Jamaican beef patty appetizer to start. Both were incredible. The potatoes and curry sauce paired perfectly with the raw onions and green apple. The Jamaican beef patty had some kick to it with a sweet tomato salsa roja on top. For entrees, we ordered the Trinidadian chicken curry and jerk chicken dishes. Everything at this place has beautiful balance. There's sweetness, freshness, crunch, salt, heat, etc. Every flavor goes together and just works. The chicken curry was very rich with the coconut milk. The jerk chicken had a beautiful smoky flavor and a TON of heat! The avocado and cucumber raita cooled it down and accompanied it well. For dessert, we had a vegan salted pretzel chocolate cheesecake. It was good, but not as great as everything else we had. In comparison, we just felt that it lacked flavor and was very heavy on the chocolate and not much else. Pairs well with an espresso. The service here was great across the board from arrival to departure. There are a ton of staff floating around making sure every table is set up and attended to seamlessly. We never felt like we were missing a thing or waiting for anything. I would highly recommend this place for anyone who's a jazz enthusiast or just looking for a good night out. The live music was the perfect pairing for our experience and just made it the cherry on top. 100/10 time and we will be back!!
