I came in on a football Sunday looking to sit eight people the place isnt that big and it was kinda busy. The waitress was really nice and said one table was leaving soon and she put some tables together for my large group. She was pretty attentive for serving almost the whole bar alone. My mom and I split the burger and mesquite butter wings I think they could've been a little more saucy, I didn't mention anything, but I'm sure she would've brought me more. If I asked. I heard a lot of good things about the ranch and it was good once I really really tasted it. I didn't find it that flavorful off the top but once I really tasted it, it did have good flavor. Maybe this was a fresh batch that needed to sit. My dad got the buffalo chicken eggrolls. They were good, but we didn't realize it would just be chicken dip in the eggroll wrapper We were expecting shredded chicken with hot sauce and cheese or something similar. I came to celebrate my granddad's birthday just to try something new and he generally likes bar food. He enjoyed it as we sang happy birthday to him. Stopped in for dinner on a weeknight. The onion rings were a great choice for appetizer. Had the original steamer for dinner. Traditional preparation- Small soft bun, breaded with excellent crunch and high quality fish. I took it to go and was still crunchy 20 minutes later. Cocktail and tarter were available, traditional and solid (L,T and cheese available). Slaw was solid and fries/ chips are also a side option. Smaller tap list, but they have quality local beer available(usually an old thunder, cinderlands, grist, DG or something along those lines). While this review is specific to the fish sandwich, their other bar food is strong to very strong. Definitely worth venturing out to Blawnox. read more

It's always the best visit when they have their amazing roasted red pepper soup. Even so the smashed burgers are tasty and come with lots of great fries. Sometimes the bar is the best place to sit as it does get a little crowded in the table area unless you choose the hidden away nook behind the kitchen. This is WITHOUT A DOUBT officially my favorite wings and bar food. With that being said my favorite thing there was the buffalo chicken egg rolls. Think of the best buffalo chicken dip you've ever had wrapped in a THICK ASS egg roll and fried to a crisp perfection. It was the consistency of a sour cream and tasted like no other ranch I've ever had. I'm a blue cheese guy through and through but I didn't even touch it after I tried that. Holy fuck I almost wish the wings weren't as perfect as they were because they didn't need to be dipped in anything. They were full of meat, nowhere close to dry and generous with the sauces. We got the Spicy Garlic Ranch and Rosemary Butter Garlic. Never do I order butter base sauces with wings but it was calling to us and it DELIVERED. Wanted to check out a local spot in Pittsburgh so Nox's Tavern came across on Yelp! This is the quintessential neighborhood tavern, every bar seat was taken and place had bodies at every table, always a good sign. They have street parking on the side for those unfamiliar with their surroundings. My wife and I sat down and had to order their award winning wings of course. Our flavor were the Garlic Butter and the Dry Cajun. Wings came out and looked good, about 6 to a basket and good size. The Garlic Butter was good, but just not my jam, good blend but looked very wet, not always a bad thing I just preferred the Dry Cajun instead, great flavor and crunch. We also ordered the steamed cheeseburger to split with the house made chips of course, came with the homemade Nox sauce, hard to describe but trust me get it and dip the chips in there, great combo! The cheeseburger itself was delicious, perfect medium rare and everything you'd expect from a steamed burger. Steak nachos were phenomenal- perfectly cooked steak and bomb cheese sauce. Only qualm is the tale as old as time, not enough toppings for each chip. Wings were great, crispy and quality sauces. Boy am I mad that I've lived around this area for 25 years and have never tried Nox's until two days ago! Big regret.. but now that I've finally been able to it might just be my new favorite!! Easily the best onion rings I've ever had. So crispy and the salt on top was perfect. The cheesesteak was also one of the best I've had! This is a hidden gem. I'd put this burger up against any in Pittsburgh. The original is definitely a local establishment. It is not very big and it can get loud but it is worth it. Absolutely awesome buffalo mac'n'cheese. I keep forgetting to review this place. Now that I'm on a low carb low sugar diet I'm craving it like crazy. HUGE portions! Big juicy burgers too. The only things keeping it from a 5th star is the parking situation fills up and you can't even pull up front and put on your flashers for a quick pick up because of all the yellow marked off no parking junk. A great spot in Blawnox. It's just off the main road, slightly hidden. Good atmosphere, staff is friendly. Their food is great and they have a big menu.
