Buttermilk Eatery ended up being the perfect spot for a casual family breakfast. We arrived and were promptly greeted/seated. The server asked if we have been before and we let her know it was our first time so she explained how everything worked. There was an option to either order using the QR code or menus/traditional ordering. We ended up looking at the actual menus and our server took our order. The food came out in a good amount of time with the robot machine, but the server handed it out to us. It was a cool experience to see the robot machine going around the dining area. I was a bit nervous we wouldn't get great service just because of how modernized everything was, but that wasn't the case at all. The food was really great and everyone in my family enjoyed their meal. I absolutely loved their pancakes. The portion sizes were just perfect. Huge portions and solid food. You might think why are the omelets so expensive? It's because they are huge and if you get a side of pancakes with it, it's basically two meals. When the pancakes came out I expected maybe 1/4 of that size. You can definitely feed two people with one omelet meal. I did end up bringing home the pancakes for my sons. I thought the pancakes were delicious but they didn't care for them. This is more a cautionary tale for future Christina not to get the pancakes just for the kids. The omelet was solid, I got the Mediterranean one. It's good ol fashioned home cooking. I had recently gotten an omelet at Olivia's earlier that week and it's not on that level, but it's exactly what I'd expect to get from here. Had this place on my list for a while and finally checked it out. Went for lunch on a weekday. Was seated right away, and a server came over to explain the ordering system on the iPad/device. She also took our drink orders and brought those quickly. I was expecting limited human interaction based on reviews that complained about the robot server, but that wasn't the case at all. We had excellent service, and the robot server was basically a sidekick. The food was great, and the portions were large. Not sure why this place has any bad reviews... I've been here 6+ times and the experience has been pleasant every time. The staff is super nice and very attentive. Yes, you have to use your phone to pull up the menu and order digitally (they also have iPads now), WHICH I LOVE. It's super convenient. If you come with a large group, it's easy for everyone to order and pay for themselves OR just order under one check. People complaining about it need to embrace the technology or dine somewhere else. The food is always tasty and fresh off the griddle. I enjoy my Lattes scorching hot and the waitress always makes sure it's perfect :) The little robot that delivers the food is awesome too, and I love the fact that the waitress still comes over to take your food off of the robot so everyone isn't leaning and touching the plates. Came here for my birthday this morning :) I ventured out to St. Pete because I wanted to go to the beach after breakfast! First of all, I was amazed by their robot servers lol. I could not stop looking at them and trying to figure out how they work. This was a very unique dining experience. They rely heavily on contactless technology- ie; QR ordering and robot delivery! Both of which I find to be pretty cool! Having worked in the technology field for over 20 years now, I'm certainly a huge advocate of cool technology. I'm just not sure this is it. While they do have waitstaff here, don't expect much. You have to scan a QR code and then enter in a bunch of information, including a phone number (I entered all 1s) and a credit card just to be able to place the order. I'm definitely not a fan of this. A short time later out comes the robot that tries its best to navigate its way to your table. Following the robot is the server so that they can remove the plate and place it on your table. Service would actually be faster without the robot, in my opinion. The food was OK.
