Adorable pie shop in Johnson City. We did the chocolate peanut butter and it was HEAVEN!! 10/10!

Key lime doesn't taste like key lime. Very overpriced. Apple custard was nothing special. We were very disappointed in both.

What a kind group of employees! Great pie! I was in town visiting from CA and wanted something to remind me of home, this did the trick!

Staff is wonderful and very helpful! The pies are delicious and it is a great place for a homemade pie! Would recommend for anyone to visit!

All I gotta say is yes the pies are great BUT I used to pay maybe $18 max for a pie and to now see the pies are $32 for a 9" is ridiculous.

We love homemade pies and couldn't wait to try BSPS. Went in for a pumpkin and they were sold out, so we got a cherry and went home. You can certainly tell the quality of the ingredients and real butter. Howeve, we were disappointed with the taste; which surprised us. We just stopped by this yummy spot. From the moment we opened the door we knew we were in the right spot. The smells coming from this shop will make you instantly hungry. We passed by the shop the other day but didn't have time to stop so I'm really happy we went back today. Our pies (chocolate chip, lemon and peanut butter) were absolutely delish and our interaction with whom I'm assuming is the owner was so heartwarming. My youngest daughter was having a rough morning after a drs check up so we figured a tasty treat would cheer us all up. The reviews are right: These pies are FANTASTIC. My party enjoyed 4 inch versions of the key lime, I-40, chocolate chip, buttermilk, apple, and pecan. Everyone seemed thrilled with their selections. We did have one member of our party ecstatic to visit after reading about their gluten free selections; however, when we visited in store, we found out you can only get gluten free if you order ahead online. Should rename this place Pie Heaven... but unfortunately that name is already taken (ft, Jax, FL).. this place is one of my favorite discoveries ever! Honestly I absolutely love pie. It's one of my favorite things to eat and make. But to be fair I only make key lime pie (but i make it really well ). And for the first time... I've found a worthy rival. Thank goodness they're open until 7pm because after a nice day of mountain biking we were craving all kinds of good food and this place was on my list! Walking in had a very nice feel to it. The environment just made you feel comfortable. Not to mention the workers were extremely welcoming and were able to describe and talk about each pie flavor! Recommending different ones depending on what we like. Let's just say I went in on a mission. If I knew one thing,... it was that I was getting a key lime pie. In fact, I got the LAST key lime pie. Lucky me)! Goodness this key lime pie gave me the same joy and excitement as my own. Whatever they put in that thing is simply addicting. To start, the whipped topping they had was unbelievable. It was almost like a lighter butter cream (not quite whipped cream) with maybe a hint of vanilla? I'm not entirely sure but with that stuff alone I knew I was going to enjoy this. The filling had an amazing consistency (obviously sweetened condensed milk based) which I love but it also had a nice tartness. I may have added a little bit more tartness, but hey that's just me. Last comes the crust. Was a traditional graham cracker crust which was baked nicely and had good texture. Only issue I had was that the crust wasn't very plentiful and uneven in some areas, which is strange for such a miniature pie (did I forget to mention all of these were mini pies??). All pies purchased were mini pies. Aside from the cuteness, I loved how you could have them ALL by yourself :)). The next pie I got was the peanut butter cream. My oh my.. it was freakin delightful. Again, what a nice consistency in the cream. Wasn't too light or heavy, and had the perfect flavor, combining so well with the chocolate (and Reese's?) on top. Also featuring a cookie crust, it was easily one of the best pies I've had, coming in at a strong 2nd. And lastly, I tried the apple butter pie. Generally not my first pick but it sounded very interesting. Again with the whipped topping. Same amazing texture with what seemed like a hint of pumpkin which was really interesting. Coupled with the sweet apple filling and traditional/not so traditional shortbread pie crust, it was definitely a trip to flavor town (earning a 3rd place spot). In all seriousness, you just can't go wrong with any of these. I liked it so much I made it a point to go an hour out of my way to double dip before my road trip home. And if you're wondering, I got all the same flavors again! Shame on me.. If you're not sure you'll get the pie you want they will even reserve it! Was in Johnson City to purchase a car and by the time I was done, I needed something sweet to change the 'bought a car and of course the experience took a gazillion hours' taste in my mouth. Buttermilk Sky DID NOT disappoint. I bought four minis...don't judge. Key Lime, chocolate cream, pecan, and I40. The Key Lime was almost 'limey' enough for me - don't get me wrong, it was delicious - I just crave a serious tart. The chocolate ganache was off the chain...the silky feel, dark chocolate taste, and a great flaky crust. The pecan was a solid win too...not skimpy w/chunks of pecan in each bite. The I40 was over the top and I am here for it. My only real meh was the whipped cream topping...it didn't feel fresh at 3:30 in the afternoon. Not sure if they use a stabilizer but again...meh. But that is not enough to not go back though!!!! Yummy! read more

The I-40 is all you need to know. Period! Lol Seriously it was delicious. I liked the apple as well, the crust on these pies are the best crusts ever. I've tried the apple, but not fond of the crumble topping. It would be delicious with their crust topping. First let me start this review by saying I'm a pie connoisseur. I lived in Indiana where the greatest pies (Grand Traverse Pie Company) were made, well and in Michigan where the company originated. So I'm pretty picky about my pie. I was skeptical about getting pie here because I haven't had much luck since Indiana. But, I tried the mini chocolate cream and really enjoyed it. I wish there was a strawberry rhubarb crumb pie though. That's my favorite! I'll definitely try the pumpkin pie when in season. read more

The coconut cream pie was a big disappointment. Way too sweet. Sugar cookie crust overwhelms the pie. Very little coconut cream filling. Just a lot of meringue to make it look tall. Any subtleties of coconut are buried under a pile of sugar which is not how a good coconut cream pie should be. read more

If you don't like pie, drive on by because that is what they have. Pie. Lots of yummy pies. If you can't find a pie you like here then you must not like pie very much. I could eat the I-40 pie everyday (and be big as a barn, but such is life) but hubs hasn't found his favorite yet. Apple, coconut, chocolate - he's on a merry go round of pie choices. He obviously hasn't met a pie he doesn't like! Service is friendly, and packaging is gift shoppe cute. So you get a yummy pie in cute wrapping - what's not to like? And for those who think it's' expensive - Have you checked the price of a single pie slice at any decent restaurant lately? This time it was a very short walk from David's Bridal shop where I was with my cousin looking for a wedding dress, so went to try it out. The key lime pie is delicious. They all looked delicious. Got a piece of chocolate cream pie the day after Christmas. The place smelled delicious. Pie was pretty good. Pies are a bit pricy at $4.25 for what was probably a 4" round piece. They didn't have larger versions available because of the Christmas rush two days earlier. Definitely a boutique bakery. They probably spend as much on packaging as they do ingredients. Our one piece came in an aluminum pan displayed in a branded plastic container. Served with fancy wooden forks and packed in a large kraft bag with a handle. read more

We are from the Tri-Cities, but we live in South Carolina now. We discovered Buttermilk Sky when we were "back home" over the summer, and I'm so glad we did. It's wonderful. We ordered several of the small pies to take home, and they were all delicious. In fact, I crave them. The crust reminds me of a shortbread cookie. Try different flavors of pies. Don't limit yourself to just one! I'll be at Buttermilk Sky on every return visit to Tennessee. read more

stopped in here on our way through to north carolina! loved the I-40 pie: pecans, choc chips & coconut. only downside was they were out of coconut cream pie. coffee was A+ & we appreciated the free refills!! going to get a 9" pie for the road before we take off tomorrow. so glad to have enjoyed this treat of a shop. we'll be back!!! read more
