We set out to pick fresh floral stems and pumpkins. We were greeted with so much more....The sweet playful house pup who immediately brought us an apple for a game (or 25) of catch. He made this whole experience so much sweeter for my girls! We had a blast chasing him around the gorgeous rows of vibrant flowers and filled apple trees. We could've stayed for hours playing with him alone!! We purchased mini apple cider donuts the girls gobbled down in two seconds flat. They LOVED these! $4 for a bag of a dozen, fresh and hot off the press sugary, perfectly snack sized donuts. They also offer grass fed beef, pork and chicken. We met the owner who kindly poured us samples of their delicious fresh, raw cider and showed us the original mill which is housed in their awesome, simplistic barn. (If you're traveling, remember to bring a cooler with ice as the cider is unpasteurized.) She also suggested I purchase a "Long Island Cheese pumpkin" which I had never heard of before! Have you?! She gave me instructions on how to bake it and make what she said will be the best pumpkin pie ever! (I'll keep you posted). She also gave me some local suggestions on things to do (Old Sturbridge Village, Mass) which we did and had a fantastic time! Thank you!! Prices we thought were very fair and it feels so good supporting small, hardworking business owners. This farm is on the smaller size, but it's absolutely full of that unmistakable pure New England charm and quality goods! We would come back here in a heartbeat and had a VERY memorable, awesome first trip! If you're in the area or maybe looking for a weekend escape, this fabulous farm is located in a quaint town that offers so much, yet is so far away from it all. You won't be disappointed making an entire trip out of heading this way.

I went down a few of them; some led to things, others just led to an empty opening or dead end, maybe because it's post-bloom? Small parking lot, only about 6-8 spaces, and there wasn't any staff visible, so you couldn't really ask any questions. Muddy when I was there, so bring appropriate shoes. Their cider is some of the best in the area - I don't know what blend of apples they use, but it works well with a nice balance of sweet and tart. While there, you might as well pick up a few pumpkins and gourds, corn stalk sheaves, and colorful Indian corn (my favorite fall decorations), and if so inclined, tromp through the corn maze. The place is wonderfully bucolic and scenic on a sunny day, and a lot of fun for the youngsters to pick out their favorite pumpkins. There used to be a herd of llamas there, but sadly, SHSH is only down to one this year. It's also nice to visit in late winter, around February, when the tree sap is running, and watch them sugar off - terrific maple syrup can be had here (and quieter in the winter with more time to chat with the proprietors). I was looking for something fun to do, so I picked up a copy of the Bargain Buyer (dated October…read more10th) and began leafing through it, as there are usually ads for fun things to do. My eyes fell on the ad for Cucumber Hill Farm, so I checked out their web site, then got directions. After a scenic half hour drive, we arrived at Cucumber Hill Farm, and we were greeted by the sight of this big red barn. We were told by a very friendly staff member to purchase our tickets for the corn maze there. A ticket for the corn maze also includes a free hay ride, so why not? First was the hay ride, then the corn maze. The size of the corn maze is just right, and the cows mooing in the distance added to the charm. After the corn maze, my nephew played in the kiddie maze, made with bales of hay, and designed for the little ones. Then I checked out the barn, where I found some goat milk soap from Sparrow Soaps. I also bought five colorful gourds for our house, and Mom got some farm fresh jam. I'm gonna cut to the chase and say everything here gets a ten. I saw so many cool pumpkins - round ones, fat ones, bumpy ones, white ones, speckled ones - and gourds, I had a hard time choosing between the gourds, but I eventually settled on five that I liked. October 28th is their last day for the season, so hopefully you'll get to make the trek there. If I don't make it back again this season, I will definitelt be back next year.

Shelley and her staff worked incredibly hard to create a beautiful setting- soft draped fabric along the ceiling, twinkling lights and lush greenery all around. It felt like spring, it was warm, intimate and absolutely perfect for a bridal shower (or baby shower, birthday party, etc). They were so accommodating and easy to work with. They welcomed our ideas for decorations and games and gave us the flexibility to make the event feel personal and special for our guest of honor. Shelley was an excellent communicator and as the event drew closer she worked with me on the specific menu, number of tables/chairs, linens and more. I never felt stressed and knew the party would be handled perfectly and we were in good hands. The owner and her staff prepared all the delicious brunch food, it was a lovely spread with a large variety to please every guest. A good time was had by all and our bride-to-be felt thoroughly celebrated and special in this lovely setting. If you are looking for a unique, cozy and beautifully styled venue - especially in the winter months, I highly recommend hosting an event here. I was very surprised to see how many vendors there were and how popular the event was. Most of the vendors are in a small barn area, though on this warm day, there are even some outside. The vendors I could see include bakeries, popcorn vendor, some jewelry, and some soaps. There isn't a lot of parking on the grounds, but plenty of people park on the roads.
