I put off writing this review for about a year, but I've decided to finally share my experience so others can be more informed. I initially chose Dr. Nykiel based on his positive reviews, but I ended up feeling disappointed not only with my outcome, but also with how my experience was handled. I am a petite asian girl that already had a good foundation to begin with, so I thought there would be no issues with the outcome. We both decided that an upside down heart shaped butt would look best on me, even printing out inspirations of what I wanted. The surgery finally came (May 2025) and I woke up laying flat on my butt. Idk if that affected the outcome but my butt came out looking like a square, I tried to keep positive, as it was supposedly going to get better overtime. Every consultation I had with him, he always came alone in his office. I found that strange, because I have never had a doctor evaluate me without a second person there to be a witness. At a follow-up visit, I expressed that I was still unhappy with my results, and he asked me, "Have you thought about getting implants?" That comment left me frustrated and confused, as I had specifically come to him for a BBL. It made me question him as a surgeon, and why he would agree to do it in the first place. Since then, the consultations have felt like an ongoing back-and-forth without a clear direction or resolution, as if he didn't remember any of our previous conversations. At times, the outcome was attributed to my body composition, which I personally found difficult to reconcile with earlier conversations about my goals and expectations. During the last consultation on September 24, 2025, I made a point to document the interaction because I've consistently felt like I'm not getting clear or consistent answers from him. I asked if we could take before-and-after photos, and he agreed, so I took a few. I then asked if I could record a video of him explaining the results for my own records, and he initially agreed to that as well. However, once I began recording and asked him to walk me through the before-and-after, he became defensive and abruptly ended the conversation by leaving the room. This has been an incredibly long and difficult experience, and the way he handled it has honestly been traumatic for me. When I tried to confront him about everything, he yelled at me to "get out." I was left shaking and completely overwhelmed. This situation has caused me significant emotional distress--I think about it every day, and haven't fully recovered from the trauma. I'm sharing this as a warning to other women: please be cautious, and consider bringing someone with you to your consultations. In my experience, I felt dismissed and that my concerns weren't acknowledged, really thinking why (as a patient) I was treated like this. I am now trying to close this chapter of my experience with him, and hoping to get this fixed somewhere else. I went to Dr. Nykiel because out of all before/after BBL pictures online, his patients had the most natural and best looking stomach lipo. I've seen many women with lumpy or undefined ab lipo. The staff is great and Dr. Nykiel is kind while spending ample time explaining all the details of the procedures and risks. The pre-op and post-op was frequent and thorough and I really appreciate Marie taking time to understand the trauma that I went through before coming to their office. My butt was previously mutilated after removing (what I discovered too late) silicone liquid injected by a person posing as a physician at a Newport Beach medspa. I needed the surgery because I didn't want risk losing my fiancé with how mutilated and unattractive my body was before I came to Dr. Nykiel. He definitely saved my family in that aspect. I like that the procedure seemed to be a boring and safe routine without exotic bells and whistles. When it comes to medical and cosmetic procedures I prefer comfortably married family people when it comes to who I can trust and it seems he has a beautiful family. The day of surgery, the nurses and anesthetist did well finding a vein and knocking me out comfortably. I didn't have much fat to work with but Dr. Nykiel significantly improved the deformities. I definitely hated the drains under my skin and it was not an easy recovery for me at my age. I think now my waistline looks fantastic and natural. For my butt, he used all the reasonable amount of fat he could find at the time to graft the parts needed so it looks more normal now. I still need to regain more weight to make a bigger difference, but that has been difficult with all the stress from my dad being hospitalized and then having him pass away last month. So, let's start from the beginning. I had a serious problem with my implants. It was the 2nd time that they formed a capsule and it was causing a lot of pain. I was recommended to Dr.Nykiel from a previous surgeon. during our consultation he gave me a few options and told me which one he would rather me do... he rather me remove my implants and just let them heal for 6m-a year. this was the cheaper option as well. Not many would recommend the cheaper option but he did and explained to me that it was a better ' long term' solution. Instead of a quick fix that could just result in the same crap again. I appreciate that so much. Pure honesty, not greed. It was like talking to a friend. The day of my surgery was so smooth and the Dr and staff made me feel safe. It was a quick and painless procedure. I'm giving 3 stars based on my consultation experience. I haven't had a procedure done here. The wait time for consultation was 55 minutes. Doctor seemed to be in a rush when I finally met him. The consultation was for liposuction revision from 9 months ago. He doesn't appear as someone who can or willing to fix other doctor's botched work. I have dents and lumps on my abdomen from my previous lipo at a different place. He said that's normal, they are muscle not fat, it's the way my body is. Hmm.. I am not sure if it is true. I never had these dents and bumps when I was younger and skinnier. It's my body so I know. Then he told me to wait for a few more months to come back and see what he can do. But he was sure there was nothing he can do about it. I didn't come back to see him. 3 months later I went to see another doctor who's specialized in lipo revision in LA. Depending on what you go for, it can be a very emotional and anxiety inducing experience or it can be a quick visit for something like Botox.
