It was served on a large platter with ample shrimp, greens, rice, onions, black beans and cheese. 2 different sauces. It really was enough food for 2 people. We stopped for takeout. Got a burger, three tuna sandwiches and the French dip. All were very good. Not disappointed.

I tried to call in order. For two wraps, two quesadillas, side of chips and salsa and small waffle fry, total was over $60. By looking at Yelp menu I expected it to be about $35 so I was taken aback by cost and trying to figure out why so much. Apparently rates went up a lot recently? The person taking order then asked for how much tip for curbside takeout. I thought about it more and said I was sorry but wasn't interested in spending $70 for carry out picnic lunch with no drinks for two adults and two kids. She then explained to me that I was on an island and choices limited. When I told her I wanted to cancel, she persisted that she was confused because it was going rate for lunch. I was frustrated, hungry and tired of being lectured so hung up. I then saw a missed call from same number so apparently she wanted to explain more to me after that about why $70 food purchase was necessary from this establishment. read more

Conveniently located next to the ABC store, we thought about stoping in for lunch. Did a quick Yelp search and omg!! Told hubs we're going in! Had the mahi tacos - could've split with the hubs. Perfect blend of a lot of fish, rice, black beans, tomatoes cheese and lettuce with a ranch sauce and pico! Ate way too much. Hubby had the Crabbie patty with fries. He cleaned his plate as well. Whenever possible, eat local. There's a certain set of neat food you'd miss out on. This is a good example. Inside, the funky decor is cool, with random (mismatched) inside seating and wild colors and kotchkes hanging all over. Happened to turn around in the parking lot and decided to get a bite to eat before visiting the lighthouse. Didn't expect much since the exterior is unassuming, in a strip mall. So we were pleasantly surprised at the great food and fun attitude of the place! Crab cake sandwich was soo full of crab! Yum! And the fish sandwich was huge plus it came either fried or grilled! We stayed in Southern Shores for a week and this was the BEST food and experience we had. If they have Triggerfish when you visit, abide Rita's advice and get Triggerfish Tacos, blackened! I got the fish tacos, blackened... They were great. Nice huge piece of fish served with salsa, onions, lettuce, tomato, cheese, beans, rice, tortillas and sauce for you to assemble however you want. Very filling and tasty. The boys split some fries and they were good and crisp. Place has limited hours 11-4 but if you are around Hatteras during this time, you want to go there. read more

Funky hip atmosphere. Order at the register, pay, wait for your food. There are a few tables and a bar to chill at. The place is tiny, but sees a lot of traffic. Best part, the fish was NOT FRIED. Blackened and cooked tender. Fish tacos platter looks like a flag with neat stripes of rice, black beans, red onions, lettuce, and tomato. I comes with one whole filet of rockfish, 4 flour tortillas, salsa and special fish taco sauce. With an appetizer one platter can probably satisfy 2 people. One of the best crab cakes I have eaten! I was very impressed by the place. Oddly enough, my wife was going next door to get some charms and my son saw that they had "crabbie patties" and wanted one. We tried this place based on the reviews it had. We wanted to find a local place that had decent priced good food. They were only open for lunch 11-4, which was fine for us. Upon arriving, the first thing we noticed is how small it is. This place had a small bar, 3 booths, 2 bar tables, and 1 bench inside. There were 2 picnic tables outside. That's it. So there wasn't much space. However, the service was very friendly. The food was average. I had the crabby patty sandwich and it was pretty good, but not amazing. The place is very casual with the decor kind of random. The pricing was average. If you want some average food at average prices in a cramped little restaurant, than buxton munch is perfect for you. read more

What a great lunch! We had delicious blackened rock fish tacos. Not only were they really tasty but the serving was so generous it will keep me filled way past dinner! Hands down my favorite lunch spot in Buxton/Frisco area! Everything is fresh and homemade, including salsas and dressings! The owners are super nice and I have never had bad service. The decor is definitely funky, but entertaining. It is a VERY SMALL restaurant, so if you come at peak lunch hours, be prepared to take out, cause you will likely not find an open table and will have to wait for one. Really long wait times at this place. The food was only okay. I wasn't really planning on leaving a bad review until I saw the manager trolling every comment on here. The attitude of the manager and his comments reflect the experience you'll have with the staff at Buxton Munch. Not the nicest people. Try Rusty's in Buxton instead! Ha check out the response. Got wraps to go (one jerk chicken, one wasabi chicken). Really tasty! Not giving it five stars because it didn't blow me out of the water, but it was really solid. Also nice that this is close to the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. You could pick up a great little picnic here at Buxton Munch Co and hang out for the day. read more
