After driving by several times and seeing it on Yelp, I went in yesterday to see for myself what it is all about, and it's a fascinating place. Everything you can imagine from 10-cent golf balls to gorgeous hardwood furniture for $100's, and the three women that were working were really nice and one gave me the rundown on where everything is, how markdowns work, etc. I was oddly attracted to the Target dog (see photo), but it is still there for anyone who has "just the right spot" for it (ha, a little Target dog humor there with "spot"). I went in on a Wednesday right after they opened at noon and there were already several people browsing, I imagine it is pretty busy in here on the weekends. read more

Haven't bought anything yet, but I recently went to Buy & Consign to look around for a few things since we recently moved. And I'll definitely be back. Why I gave it 5 stars: 1. Compared to other thrift/consignment stores in the area, this place actually has *a lot* of furniture. 2. Large selection is also significantly larger than 99% of consignment stores in Boston/Greater Boston area, in my experience. 3. Prices seemed pretty reasonable, unlike the Ramble Market down the street... I haven't consigned anything here, but would definitely consider it. This is one of my favorite places to shop. My home was built in the late 1950's and the room sizes are not large. Shopping for modern furniture is so hard because most is made for the new McMansion style homes. I couldn't believe my luck at this store: bureaus, console table, rolling butcher block cart, a garden cart, dining table and chairs! Plus, all the 'littles' - paintings, craft items, brand new puzzles, holiday items. I love the staff too! Very friendly and knowledgeable. read more

I almost don't want to leave a 5 star review because then more people will find this hidden gem!! But and Consign is my new favorite stop for anything home decor/furniture. I am an interior designer and was SO excited when I came across this place. They have such an amazing selection for even better prices. I found an amazing English table and 8 chairs there for a little over $400. They also get a ton of new deliveries every week so you can go once a week (probably more) and find new items each time you go!! The staff was incredibly helpful as well. I wasn't really planning to buy any large items but I just couldn't leave this table behind. The staff let me borrow a screw driver, a dolly, and gave me a sheet to use so nothing scratched. This is such a hidden gem I can't wait to go back next week!! read more

I am a referral source for Clean Out Your House who does occasionally put items on consignment at their store, Buy and Consign. They charged me for mattress disposal only to find out they were donated. Worst part is they put items on consignment (which I saw on Instagram) and never received a consignment contract. Moved to the area from the west coast about two years ago, and we've probably bought two dozen pieces of furniture small and large, lighting fixtures, a couple of rugs, silver plate, small items for gifts, and sold one mid-century console radio. We like to stop by once a month or so, just to see what's new. Ian is a great addition to the staff and fun to talk with. Make sure you wander around in ALL the back rooms too, not just the ones up front by the register. Furniture ranges from actual antiques, to reproductions. Make sure you examine carefully, so that you know what you're getting. Some of the stuff as shabby as flat-pack (ikea style) reproductions (got a few of those). Some is genuine late 1800's antiques (got one of those for $300). You need to look carefully before you buy. I've spent a long weekend or two repairing pieces that had hidden damage. Pull drawers in dressers all the way out and flip them over, make sure the bottom isn't loose or the back isn't unglued, and the sides aren't split. In one small piece the rails the drawers slid on had come unglued. If there's legs, make sure they're firmly attached. If it's small enough, flip the whole thing upside down and look at the bottom. Older furniture was held together mostly with tongue-and-groove and glue, but they used glues that dry out and evaporate over time, not modern glues. A lot of common damage can be fixed with a few small 1/2" or 1" angle-brackets, small screws and some wood glue, but factor your time into the price. I use some tie-down straps (ratcheting ones are the best) or the like to hold everything under tension while the glue dries. I'm not adverse to paying $30 for a piece (that probably should have been thrown away instead of sold) and investing another $50 in glue, screws and angle brackets to get a piece that my girlfriend thinks is priceless. But you may not want to do that. read more

I love going to this store. The inventory is constantly changing. They have a really cool collection of furniture, art work, books, records and even clothes. Witnessed the staff rudely talk/yell to a customer like they were a child. It was quite appalling and I will NEVER shop here again after that experience. Stock also seemed incredibly low in contrast to the other times I have gone in. I hope people take their business elsewhere. I will be glad to see the inevitable "For Lease" sign slapped on their sign or see the building leveled to the ground. Despicable sales staff and/or owners. Addicted to thrift & consignment? This place is the bomb! From knickknacks, kitchen items, games, puzzles to coffee tables, desks, dining sets and bicycles! I've had such success that I visit multiple times a month, as their inventory changes weekly--and besides, it's so much fun to discover new-to-me things to repurpose. Linda, Leslie, Ian, Mel each are friendly and welcoming. For items that arrive via their company Clean Out Your House, they can be more flexible on price than items brought in for consignment. Either way, you're scoring on quality (even sometimes high end), unique, often retro pieces while being green and lowering your carbon footprint. A shame they're open only Wed through Saturday, but I get that it takes time to price and setup on the floor. I can't stop telling people about this place! read more

Buy and consign has such strange hours, we were glad to hear they would be open on a Sunday for a sale they were having. So we called to confirm their hours, open until 4pm. We get there at 3:45 and the guy comes to the locked door and says they closed early because it was slow, even tho we were there..before 4..to spend money. All the lights were on and there were people inside. They said we could come in of we had cash. They had already "closed" the credit machine, and we could look around but couldn't buy anything. No wonder they were slow, they weren't letting people buy anything. We are frequent shoppers of theirs and this treatment will mean us never going back. read more

First of all. This place IS a gem. Not only is it a gem, its CHEAP. From authentically rich accent items to larger, bolder standout pieces this is a great resource for store owners and individual buyers alike. I bought three great storage boxes for jewelry and they were all fantastically lucky finds. I'll take a tangent here and tell you about them so you really get a sense of how special this place is: One was a red and gold (actual gold leaf) painted box in the shape of a heart with flowers on it from KASHMIR, the other was a silver coated box depicting what appears to be Buddhist monks, which is a tremendous amount of detail for a silver jewelry box (REAL SILVER) and the third was stainless steel and looks like a lotus flower (I'm actually not certain what this is, I'm just going to use it as a jewelry box). Or maybe it wasn't that lucky since this place is great and the selection changes daily so it's the kind of place you can swing by with frequency and still find new pieces. Plus, the locations great for transporting large items, they have a large accessible pick up area and a sizable selection of outdoor furniture/decoration items. GO HERE. read more

I stopped in because I saw a cute chest on their Facebook page I thought would make an excellent coffe table. Never having been in there, I grabbed a buddy and we headed over there. The place is sort of confusing to find. There's no sign from the road side. Had to ask the pizza place for directions. Is right around the corner. Once inside, there's just an assortment of well maintained things from various decades and centuries. I found the trunk I was looking for but it way too small to use for a coffee table. I did walk away with a table tray and a neat retro necklace under ten dollars. The guy gave me the wrong change and I had to go back. He seemed absentminded but didn't mind correcting the issue. I'm be back trying to find that trunk table. read more

This is one of the great spots in Waltham if you are looking for almost anything, whether it's a big piece like sofa or chair, or you just need that small table or a cool piece to add the right feel to the room, they probably have it. They have a great mix of high end, along with stuff that is perfect for a college or first apartment after college. The staff, Nick and Kelly, are great and always willing to help you find what you need or an alternate that you'll love instead. I love that their inventory and stock is always changing, it's never the same store twice when I go in there. They don't deliver, but they have a great outside guy they recommend who does a really great job. read more

This place has gone downhill over the last few years. They have new staff working there, one of whom is especially cold. She will literally look right at you and not say hello and it creates an uncomfortable environment. The turnover is decent as are the prices but don't count on excellent service. read more

This store is located BEHIND the building. MAPS announced I had arrived twice before I finally figured it out. Inventory was down, but a few interesting Biedermeier-type pieces were there. I had a pair of nice Victorian parlor chairs with good upholstery, and a pristine large reproduction Early Am primitive painting in a lovely gold frame which I was hoping to consign, but no, so I am at a loss as to what the selection criteria for consignment might be. There's so much more to Buy and Consign than just a fun logo. Upon entering, I was struck by the cool vintage, antique, and funky second-hand stuff that was displayed in little vignettes around the main store area. To begin with, items are priced to sell, and they lower them every thirty days for a max of ninety days, at which point they're returned to the consigner, thus assuring rotating stock. The prices and reduction dates are clearly marked on labels for ease of solo shopping. I was bummed that the main space wasn't larger...then was escorted to a another sprawling space where more furniture, rugs, vinyl LPs, etc. were available. I found the place to be really reasonable, fun, and filled with a variety of great well-priced items. I WILL go back the next time I'm in the area. read more

I have been stopping in to this store for years. The staff is always friendly and merchandise turnover is fast.

I have been going to this store for years and it is always indeed a fun store to visit because one gets to see items from various estates from years ago. I use to love this store when items were very reasonable and one could bargain with the price but it is now has become expensive because the staff uses Ebay high pricing system but all items do get gradually marked down in price over time. I have found better pricing by going on various auction sites or attending estate sales where one does not have to pay a sales tax. read more
