I tried my very first carrot cupcake from Buzz. It meant so much to me - and it was wonderful! I'm usually an icing-over-cake person, so when I like the cake part of the cupcake more than the icing, that should tell you how incredible the pastry was. It had a wonderful, not-too-overpowering spice flavor to it, much like a pumpkin spice cake, but more "carrot." There were also little bits of carrot in the cake, which led my sister, who I shared the treat with, to exclaim "We're being healthy then, and getting our vegetables today - haha!" Seriously - I've always been a huge fan of white chocolate/raspberry as my top, favorite flavor of all time (Not sold at Buzz - but heyyyyy now that I mention it I highly suggest it!), but I think carrot from Buzz has at LEAST placed itself in second place (in terms of non-seasonal. Sorry, but pumpkin exists). I was very scared to get the cupcake, but Buzz made the whole thing a lot of fun, sweet, and enjoyable. I still like Buzz, but I like it a lot less than I used to. Here's why: 1. After the change over/renovation, the seating became weird. It's generally uncomfortable. Also, the counter is weird now too. 2. Although the cake part of the cupcakes improved, that's the end of the improvements - The Buzz Bionic Bar is now half sized. -The cute little teapots with cute little cups are gone. -Nearly all of the non-dessert food options are gone. -There seem to be fewer items in general. 3. I love the casual vibe while maintaining a slightly fancy dessert and pastry selection. It's like the fancy, cafe next door. Servers are mostly really amazing. I wouldn't recommend going if you're in any way on a time constraint. I've gone a handful of times where the wait was 15-25 minutes from joining the line to getting your food. For a cafe, this seems pretty unacceptable. It's not a restaurant where you're going for a full-on sit down dining experience. I often notice people join the line and leave, including myself. I also noticed a couple times one server is carrying all the weight while the other one is dragging foot...Felt really bad for the guy as you could see he was trying his best to meet the needs of the customers without losing it completely because the lines just so backed up. If there is a COVID outbreak traced back to that store, it will likely be due to the young woman behind the counter. With a single pair of gloves--and I don't know how long she had them on before I arrived--she touched the following in this approximate order: A customer's drink bottle, the telephone, computer, her ear, her mask, the customer's credit card, the cash register, a re-used pen, the pen again after use, a customer's coffee cup, the coffee dispenser, another customer's drink bottle, then another round of credit card, pen, pen and cash register. While I do like their cupcakes, I also recognize there are better ones in the area. What I really love about this place is the atmosphere. Decided to stop in here to take some treats to go after dinner at Rustico. We were greeted by the staff behind the counter as soon as we came in. We ended up deciding on a red velvet cupcake and the cookie monster cupcake and a vanilla cake pop. I was disappointed in the red velvet cupcake. The cake portion was dry and crumbling, it just fell apart. The frosting was ok, but it just tasted off, I'm not sure if it was not sweet enough or what. The cookie monster cupcake was on the opposite end of the spectrum. The cake was moist and held together and was filled with cookie dough! The frosting was great and the cute little cookie on top was a nice touch. The cake pop was really good as well. I've been wanting to say this for about a year now and since I experienced it again this morning, I'd like to make a small suggestion to the store to please test out your coffee cup sleeve or consider replacing it with a different type. They have just really great baked goods too, beautiful cakes and cupcakes and then also traditional bakery items like croissants, cookies, etc - which are all insanely delicious. I think I've tried about everything from Buzz at this point and can say the food and coffee is fantastic. It's also a really great work environment so I come here to work from my laptop pretty often. Flash forward to last week when I was looking to order a cake for my friends surprise engagement party and I remembered Buzz does cakes! I ordered a 12 inch chocolate cake with vanilla filling and vanilla finish and everyone really liked it! I choose the Rustic finish which looked really pretty. I'm familiar with their operations both as a one -time employee ( I left for my own reasons after about 6 months), and as a friends, even very close friends with other current and former employees, and as a frequent customer ) originally unaware that many of my favorite establishments were owned by the same people. From a restaurant industry worker perspective, this group is the creme de la creme. They are hyper-professional, creative, innovative, and mostly successful. They genuinely care about the well - being of their employees. They train the hell out of them. They have been extremely responsible and caring pandemic -wise. 'nuf said. Buzz.... a cool place with some quirks. The cupcakes were pretty tasty. They also have cake options, scones, and some other baked goods. While the cupcakes are labeled with prices, the beverage menu is not. why? Also, while you may see 3 or 4 cupcakes of the same kind in the case that does not mean they are available. So there were about 6 flavors in the case when we were there but when we ordered, atleast one wasn't truly available. They keep the cupcakes on a bakers rack behind the case so don't really go by whats in the case. There is a parking lot right across the street that is convenient. read more

I really do think I found a new addiction. That place was great, I went in to buy some holiday gifts for clients and ended up going three days in a row. The box cookies set over the holidays that I bought for my clients were absolutely amazing they were in some great boxes and my clients really enjoyed them. I've visited the one in Alexandria versus the one closer to my home and Arlington just because I figured parking may be easier it looks like they have a variety of sandwiches for breakfast and lunch. I stopped at Buzz to get lunch and treats for my kids while on errands when I got home I tried my quiche Lorraine. It was fantastic!!! It was custard-like and perfect. It smelled so good, my 10-year old asked for a bite. My daughters each had a little yo-yo, which was a more delicious form of Swiss cake roll. My daughters loved it! My husband had a bacon egg and cheese sandwich which he said was good, but could not compare with the mini lemon meringue pie my husband and I shared. Finally, the cherry blossom pie was delicious!
