Drinks and dessert are amazing, and service was kind of like self-service, but the tip suggestion started at 20%.

So exciting to have more Asian desserts near Old Town Alexandria! The waffle was delicious with both vanilla and matcha ice cream. I would totally get it again! There is also bingsoo and toasts. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is also decorated with a more retro/vintage theme which I love.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

If you're looking for aesthetics and atmosphere, this is the place for you! The cafe was hidden in the back and beautifully decorated with a magnolia arc upon entrance, plants, and everything trendy. I came party of two for some dessert. Service was pretty slow considering we just needed dessert (we waited 20 mins), but it was a busy Friday night. Magnolia has an interesting menu with a twist of Asian flavors. We had this matcha bread dessert with matcha ice cream, bread, and a seemingly random assortment of cookies, wafers, fruit, chocolate on it. Truthfully, the combination seemed odd and didn't particularly work together (so we just treated it like every part of the dessert was it's own separate thing), but aesthetically the dessert was beautiful!! Looking around, it seemed like others enjoyed their meal, though I will say the menu seems a bit pricey. Overall, would come back to try other things!

This is an adorable and aesthetically pleasing restaurant that has both savory and sweet specialties. Not only do they serve thai food and other asian favorites, but they have a great selection of desserts and sweet drinks. The crepes or the toasts are a MUST have when you come. If not, the coffee drinks and the asian inspired lattes are great too. Stop by! :)

The place is very cute! As we waited for our order we got coffee and the ambiance is very cute. They are located inside the Sisters restaurant which also has great food, so it's a good place to get coffee and wait for your to go order. Definitely 5-stars for the ambiance and service. I was a tad disappointed in our cake though. We got this for my partner's birthday and although it wasn't bad, it wasnt comparable to the high quality of cheesecakes we've had in the area. We got the litchi and strawberry cheesecake and it was not like a classic cheesecake at all. Maybe it was their take on the classic that just didn't work for us? Definitely more jelly-Like in consistency. I do want to go back to try their other desserts, but this one wasn't it for me.

This review is specifically for Magnolia Dessert, but we enjoyed it inside the Sisters Thai restaurant as they're collaborating for their dessert menu. We were seated in the main dining area, and our waitress provided quick, friendly service. My friends and I ended up splitting the pinky strawberry waffle, and there was plenty for us to share amongst ourselves. The dessert consisted of a waffle with strawberry and vanilla ice cream and fresh cut strawberries--definitely something anyone can make at home, but you get to enjoy eating in an aesthetically pleasing restaurant.

I had this place on my bucket list and finally went Yesterday 12/02 for my birthday!. Wonderful, caring staff! We hosted a baby shower and they prepared a buffet for the group. Cannot say enough about how accommodating and kind the staff were to all of the guests. The decor is beautiful as well. Everyone loved the food! The stir fried rice is sneaky spicy! We can't wait to return.

You have to go through Sisters Thai restaurant to get to this cafe. It's more geared towards desert. I went a little after lunch on a weekday. It was weird that the staff asked me to sit in the restaurant part instead of allowing me to go back to the cafe. I walked back there after placing my order and it was nice. People were back there so I am unsure why the staff suggested I sit in the restaurant. I got a banana and Nutella crepe. I did see the menu of the this restaurant and it's like a newspaper. That's a nice touch. The prices seemed reasonable. I would go back.

We went there Christmas Eve. Lightings were good and this place certainly had the festive feel. This cafe is inside a Thai restaurant. Everything we ordered, which you can see in the photo was decent. Service was ok. I found the price to be 20-30% more than what it needed to be. One of the servers was unpleasant and borderline rude. And overall, staff didn't look quite happy! Other than that we enjoyed our coffee and deserts.

I came here one Sunday evening because they're open late--until 10, which I appreciate. They're actually located INSIDE 2 Sisters restaurant. If you want the cafe, go into the restaurant and head straight for the back. There will be giant golden doors covered in flowers. You can't miss it. The desserts are delicious, although nearly all of them are EXTREMELY sweet. They have cakes, Bing soo, a variety of sweet waffles and toasts, and coffee drinks. Not badly priced either, although the round table I sat at was a little cramped for two people. All in all, it's very modern looking and has great ambiance. I'd come again.

The drinks I had here so far are: - Bluebell espresso soda - brisk, fruity, and refreshing. It has an intriguing complex blend of flavors (jasmine, blamango, coconut). Really unique! - Rose cardy latte (iced with little ice, oat milk) - delightfully sweet and refreshing. It was not too sweet and has light floral tones. Service was very friendly and quick. Reviews that mention how cool the phone booths are failed to mention they are for Link customers only (good thing I didn't have a call where I needed privacy). I opted used my phone's hotspot and internet wasn't that great unfortunately so I couldn't stay long. There is patio seating. Plenty of free street parking since it's not on a main Street in Old Town. I appreciated that it wasn't freezing in the building, quite temperate actually. There was guitar music playing, think Rodrigo y Gabriela. I ordered a Jasmine iced tea. Nothing against the establishment, but I discovered that Jasmine isn't a drink flavor that I particularly like.

The biggest advantage here is the amount of space. There is plenty of seating outside, throughout the main floor, upstairs, and even on the upstairs deck, making it very easy to find a comfortable place to settle in with a drink and stay awhile. The coffee was just as good as expected, and the coffee cake was excellent. The staff was also nice and efficient, keeping everything moving without making the experience feel rushed. The only thing that kept this visit from matching the King Street location was that the space felt a little neglected in comparison. The upstairs bar area, in particular, seemed deserted during our visit, and seeing what appeared to be an expired liquor license posted on the wall gave the impression that the space was once used in a greater capacity, but that's purely just speculation. Overall, it is still a lovely coffee shop with great drinks, plenty of room to spread out, and a relaxed atmosphere. I would happily return, especially when I am looking for a quieter place to enjoy my coffee.

Studying or need to get work done AND neurodivergent? This is the place!…read more There are a few St Elmo's in Alexandria/Arlington, but this location is by far my favorite. The service is always top notch, the food and drinks are consistently great, and the environment is so conducive to just about anything. I've met up with friends for coffee here, come just for a peaceful moment for myself, and it is my go-to for studying and working on the doctoral manuscript. There are outlets thoughtfully placed literally everywhere for charging computers, tablets, phones, etc. My favorite thing about St Elmo's is probably the amount and variety of seating they offer- they have bar seating with comfortable backed barstools, another long high top table (great for small group meetings or projects), traditional tables and chairs scattered throughout, booths, etc. The playlists they use are great, but music is also not too loud (can use my own headphones without having to blast the volume). There are fairy lights strung and the lighting is great. At the front, they have big windows that completely open to allow fresh air in on days the weather is nice. Parking isn't an issue- if you can't find anything on the street, there is a free garage with EV charging. I live less than a mile from the Del Ray St Elmo's (which is also great!), but the layout of this location and how it is set up for those looking to be productive outside of their home is fantastic.

Delicate Hot Chocolate…read more I have long been an admirer of fine hot chocolate. Traditionally, I would visit Starbucks or a contemporary coffeehouse, only to receive what often felt like mocha syrup blended with steamed milk--pleasant, perhaps, but rarely memorable. This morning marked my first visit to Tatte Bakery & Café in Old Town Alexandria where the hot chocolate proved to be an unexpected delight. The associate explained that it was prepared with semisweet chocolate and warm milk. Intrigued, I ordered a small and chose to enjoy it outdoors. The price was refreshingly reasonable, while the bakery's bright interior and refined ambiance created an inviting first impression. My drink arrived within approximately five minutes, presented elegantly in a cup and saucer. The temperature was perfectly warm--comforting without being excessively hot--and the overall presentation was quietly sophisticated but has room for improvement. Then came the taste.... The texture was exceptionally silky and smooth, with no grainy residue, excessive sweetness, or bitter aftertaste. It was rich without being heavy and indulgent without becoming overwhelming. Even better, it left behind no awkward crown of foam. I have enjoyed hot chocolate in Sicily, where the experience was quite literally a cup of melted chocolate--decadent, dense, and almost dessert-like. Tatte's interpretation was more delicate and restrained, yet equally satisfying in its own way. Tatte has now earned first place in my personal ranking. There is, however, still an opportunity to elevate the service experience. A cloth napkin and small spoon presented alongside the drink would add a more polished touch, while a subtle soupçon of finely shaved chocolate would enhance both the visual presentation and the final sip. Overall, I award Tatte's hot chocolate an A-. I look forward to seeing whether it can achieve an even higher distinction upon my next visit.
