To preface this review, I've never actually tried the baked goods from here. However: we have a family friend that lives in Alexandria, and we constantly send her goodies from here (and she says they are all tasty!). The 5 stars is for the ease of ordering on their website. The first time we sent her a pie, I was thinking Doordash would be the way to go, but it was all individual pie slices, from restaurants and other businesses, and we wanted to send a full pie for her and her husband. I did some sleuthing on Yelp and Maribeth's Bakery came up. Their delivery fee is $8, for local delivery (Alexandria/etc.) through their website, which IMO is reasonable. So far we have sent our friend some full-size pies and also mini pies, and she has said they were all really good. Overall I would recommend this business, based on her review and also my experience with ordering from the website for her. read more

Fresh and soooo good! The fruit pop tarts are my absolute favorite. Each week at the Old Town Farmer's Market they have a variety of pastries. This week we bought Veggie Quiches, Peach and Blueberry and Strawberry Lemonade pop tarts. Delicious, flakey and fresh. 9.02.23- I had the honor of throwing my first Sip & See... it's kind of like an adult, more refined baby shower. You get to see baby & not play those hokey games. I had a team helping me plan, but the task of ordering the cookies fell in my lap. Who knew securing a vendor for custom cookies would be such a challenge!! Cupcake bakeries are everywhere. This bakery came highly recommended from my friends at Rx Catering. I had a couple chats with the bakery and sent pics of what I envisioned. They eloquently told me what they could do for me. I appreciated the transparency and gave them the green light to move forward. Maribeth's has a 4 dozen cookie minimum. This bakery mass produces sweet treats. My order was ready at the agreed upon time & I got to meet Maribeth and her hubby! The cookies were buttery deliciousness. Definitely a hit among my guests. read more

AMAZING cookies! I was sent some of their spring cookies for my birthday and they were some of the best I've ever had. Loved the customized cherry blossom theme too. I also had a few of their pop tarts, which were huge and delicious. Maybe some of the best pop tarts in the area, with a huge variety of flavors from chocolatey to fruity. Prices are really reasonable here too and they deliver, which is the icing on the cake! Can't wait to go back. read more

MB (aka, Maribeth's) Bakery used to make appearances at the OT Alexandria Farmer's Market, and I didn't know that they had opened up their own little spot off of Colvin, offering baked items to-go! They offer various types of bread, cakes, cookies, pastries, pies, seasonal items, and even breakfast and savory goodies (quiches, homestyle chicken noodle soup, ham, cheddar, scallion scones, baked ziti, etc.). They also have 'day old' items that are marked 50% off. I had a Big Tom Turkey cookie, which was a butter cookie made with cinnamon fondant icing and tie-dye style tails - the cookie was buttery and thick, and I loved the cinnamon taste to them - YUM! I stopped by recently and also purchased another set of their tasty cookie (this time, it was 'Leave it to Beaver' theme - SO CUTE!), as well as their housemade 'poptarts' - definitely much better than the ones served at the popular chain of restaurants, as the pastry itself was flaky, had a great ratio of the icing, and the filling was SO tasty! I opted for the strawberry lemon, strawberry rhubarb, and the raspberry - they were very yummy! Staff were super welcoming and super friendly; note that this is a warehouse/kitchen site, so there will be a limited selection of items you can purchase. Just go through the double doors behind the usual parked van, left of the main building entrance - someone will readily receive you! Sweets are one of my weaknesses which is why I found myself at Maribeth's table at the Old Town Farmers Market for quite some time!! With so many pastries, pies, breads and cookies it was one hard decision to make. I wanted one of everything because everything looked so good. In an effort to not end up in a sugar coma, I got a few pop tarts, a few cookies, and a few loafs. While I did not taste anything until I got home, the freshness was there!! The cookies were soft , the pop tarts were amazing and I have yet to try the loaf but I assume it is just as delicious as everything else. Bring cash with you as if you need to use a card, it is a $10 min purchase. The gents at the stand were so friendly and worked efficiently to make sure no one had too wait too long. read more

I first found Maribeth's at the OT farmers market and loved to get their toaster pastries and wander down to the water front to eat them. I loved them so much I would take all my guests when visiting for my favorite Saturday morning tradition. Covid hit everyone hard but I loved the pivot that Maribeth's did to online ordering and pickup. I have never had a bad thing from them. Online ordering is easy and most recently I opted to pick up at the farmers market. Everything was ready to go for me. The cake we got was rich without being too overwhelming and just divine. I got a rice crispy treat too this time and I am not sure how they do it but it is the best rice crispy treat I have ever had. I love any excuse to order from Maribeth's because I know everything is amazing. read more

I ordered a substantial amount of bakery products for delivery for Thanksgiving. While I give 5 stars to the quality of the product, I cannot say the same for the shoddy packaging on delivery or the false promise of fresh-baked product: "Orders placed by 4:00 pm will be baked that night and ready for pick-up or delivery the following day (or a later date, if indicated at checkout)." All of my pies were delivered frozen solid, not fresh and stacked one on top of each other in a plastic grocery bag, not even individually packaged in a pie box. If I wanted previously-frozen pies, I'd have baked and frozen them myself. And if I had known the $200 worth of product meant having them shoved in a plastic bag, I'd have taken my business elsewhere. Please rethink your end-to-end quality and be honest about what you're selling. read more

Be aware This place only has 2 parking spots. Other than that if you aren't getting just about all your bakery items here good more for me. The people here are kinda and knowledgeable. This is a pick up bakery so grab and go to allow the free flow and use of the parking spot. Everything g is make with care and decorated consistently. Outstanding. read more

Not only was the red velvet cake huge, delicious and fairly priced but I am inspired by this company and their ability to pivot during the pandemic. Meeting the owner and hearing about how the majority of their business disappeared when COVID came to town, and yet they didn't lay off a single employee was inspiring. Everything they had for sale looked amazing, and I can attest that the red velvet cake is better than my grandmothers (shh...) So glad I found this gem in my community! read more

***UPDATE*** MB went above and beyond to make things right. ********* This review is for MB's customer service. I'm a repeat customer. I place delivery orders every time I have company or special occasions. Most recently, I made an order of six toaster pastries to be delivered on my birthday--one order of Toaster Pastries #1 and one order of Toaster Pastries #2. I received a call from "Tom" the morning of the delivery. He said they didn't have Toaster Pastries #1 and asked if I wanted other flavors instead, so I asked for a trio of the fall flavors as replacement. But when the order arrived, I found that Tom had also replaced my order of Toaster Pastries #2 with the fall flavors as well, with one exception...one of the pastries was replaced with chocolate coconut (I'm allergic to coconut). I called Tom back because this was not at all what I had ordered, and I just wanted a refund at this point. Tom sighed and had me put the order back outside for someone to pick up. I've never heard of a restaurant/bakery wanting their incorrect food back. It wouldn't be sanitary for MB to resell those, so I hope they didn't. MB wanting them to be returned just seems petty. I am disappointed by the entire experience and by how MB would treat a repeat customer after they messed up my order so badly. Needless to say, I will not be ordering from MB Bakery again. read more

TEN stars!!!!! Their baked goods are absolutely worth the money!! I love to bake myself (and enjoy it), and many times find when I buy baked goods I am underwhelmed by what I am eating. So far I have had MB's cookies (which are beyond beautifully decorated) and several flavors of poptarts. They are phenomenal!! We visited their location on Colvin street, and Tom (I believe) was so friendly and kind. Next we visited them at the Old Town Farmers Market. Highly recommend. I wanted to bring some special treats to the staff at the hospital taking care of my husband. I called yesterday and spoke with (Nicole??) who made some recommendations. I ordered 3 boxes of a dozen assorted cookies. To save time I had them delivered to my house so I could bring them with me. It was only $5 for delivery. They have a 2 hour delivery window. I picked 10 to 12 and the delivery person showed up at 10:12 wearing a mask very friendly everything was packaged perfectly and I wish I ordered some extras for me because they look and smell amazing!! We learned of this bakery on NextDoor and thought why not give it a try! That was three weeks ago and we've ordered at least once a week since. We get all our orders delivered to our doorstep. They have always been on time and they text to let you know your order has been delivered. The online ordering process is super simple. Now for the even more important part--the baked goods! The cinnamon rolls were AMAZING. The pumpkin rolls and carrot cake were very delicious. We keep trying new things but are most definitely going to keep the cinnamon rolls and carrot cake on regular rotation. For those looking for challah-the round challah was perfect. Recommended this bakery to out-of-towner and co-host of wedding shower. She ordered a cake and petit fours: cake was super disappointing and petit fours were fabulous. During the pandemic they opened up for anyone to order. We've been carb loading since. Got our son his first birthday cake from them. It was so good. Even by day 3 it was still better than fresh cakes. Gotten a couple orders of cookies, bread, pop tarts. Don't put the pop tarts in the toaster like I did the first time. The bathroom is clean and passcode-protected. The aesthetic is pretty and elegant. The man behind the counter was polite and patient, answering a couple of silly questions for me with a smile. They were out of most of their sandwiches when I happened to pop in, but despite settling for my 3rd choice on the menu, it was still a tasty, satisfying lunch. But, I decided my kiddos needed a treat. Located on a corner you walk into hues of pink, florals and the smell of chocolate and coffee. I became immediately distracted by the toppings and melted chocolate. But, when I snapped out of it, I was able to place my order. I opted for the Dubai chocolate inspiration over strawberries. If I remember correctly it was around $20 five or take. The cafe is so cute. It is small and if crowded be prepared to navigate that. There is bathrooms inside but, I do not know if it is for customers or not, as they were locked when we were there. The staff were just starting for the day. But they were helpful, kind and ready to roll. Once we received our order we sat down and dug right in. The strawberries were fresh, large and draped over in chocolate, pistachio cream and katifia. This is not my first time having Dubai chocolate or Dubai inspired chocolate. I thoroughly enjoy it over strawberries. There is just something about chocolate ad strawberries. Overall a wonderful place. I highly recommend visiting
