I've lived in Puget Sound for 35 years and have never been to a Buzz Inn. I guess there's a good reason for that. If you like loud mouth truckers, vague whiffs of cigarette smoke, somewhat tough steak and oddly mushy hash browns you'll love this place. Otherwise opt for the Sonic down the road or something. Had breakfast on 11-2, Saturday morning. Decided to give this business a second chance. This meal was better than my previous experience. See the picture. The omlett had good flavor. Wasn't anything like any omlett I have had in a restaurant before. Flavor aside, green peppers were nearly raw, ham cubes were overly processed ham, onions about right but really more resembled an egg taco stuffed with processed ham, onions and bell pepper. The hashbrowns were not browned in the least. Whatever fat, margarine likely wasn't melted on the rye toast. Service was nothing special. The waitress, however did an excellent job. This was my second visit to Ellensburg for college visits with the Tax Deduction. It was also my second visit to Buzz Inn Steakhouse. This place is adjacent to the Flying J Truck Stop parking lot right off I-90. Easy off and on from the Interstate. Buzz Inn has a wonderful old school feel to it, you can tell it was likely a chain coffee shop/diner. The menu is varied from steaks to fish & chips to burgers and sandwiches. There is something for everyone here. This last visit I had to try the Farmer's Burger because I am a sucker for ham and a fried egg on my burger. The burger was excellent, cooked perfectly and the egg yolk was nice and runny. Fries came with it and they were also cooked perfectly. The star here is the service staff, always friendly and attentive without being annoying. I truly enjoyed my meals here and will return when the Tax Deduction begins classes later in 2023. read more

I'm a trucker with 1.5 million miles and eat all across these 48. It seems the gloomy Gus reviews over a year ago had an impact. What a great place! Best NY strip breakfast in a long time. This will now be my go-to in the area. Full bar attached to boot for those long resets. Maggie was my server. She was full of energy and engaging while serving others. Steak is actually really good!! Wasn't sure about this place but we stop at flying jay frequently and wanted to check it out. Got the ribeye mid rare and they cooked it perfect just needed a bit more salt. Instant mash potatoes and gravy but that's what I'm used to. Not super fancy but reasonably priced! We stopped in for a quick meal with our son who is going to collage in Ellensberg. They sat the three of us next to a window. That seat and that window was absolutely full of flies. We had flies landing on our straws. We had flies landing on our plates. We had flies landing on our food. We had flies landing on our silverware. It was literally non stop of us trying to get flies to leave us and our food alone. The sad part: not one word of anything even resembling an apology from any one working at the restaurant. Cyndee needs to find a different profession. Hashbrowns were raw and until I was almost done she ignored the fact they were sitting on a plate at the end of the table. She said she would have them redone and I told her bot to bother as I was almost done anyway. She did bring them out soaked in grease and offered to box them up for me. When we paid the bill her way to fix it was to not charge us for coffee we never ordered. We were both so pissed by this time we just paid and left. read more

This was a good every day kind of restaurant. It's not fancy. But it was friendly. We liked it.

While heading back home from Spokane, my bestie and I met her sister for breakfast. Free parking can be found in the parking lot. Credit cards are accepted. Tabs were easily and accurately split. This location has a pool table in the lounge along with TVs and pull tabs. Billy's Bloody Mary's are $6.47 each (more expensive than the Everett location). My bestie and I shared the Meat and Cheese Omelette for $10:79: three eggs, sausage and cheese. Served with hash browns and toast. The omelette was tasty. The hash browns were awfully under-cooked and wasted. Our server was friendly but inattentive. Overall, Buzz Inn is a good place to meet up with friends and visit for a filling meal at reasonable prices. read more

We were starving, and it's phase 2! We can go out to eat....or can we? Buzz Inn was one of the only places open in Ellensburg on a Sunday afternoon, and when pulling up, it doesn't look like much. It is a truckstop restaurant, detached from it, but still not the "restaurant" we were expecting. But they had table service, we were hungry, and off we went. My hiking crew was pleasantly surprised with the pretty extensive menu, but also with the service - at least at first. He told us it was Happy Hour, and we decided to make a meal out of apps, which were half price. Maybe it's because I haven't had a draft beer in months, but it tasted SO good. We got the chicken fried steak sliders, a side salad (for me), bacon wrapped shrimp, wings, bacon wrapped meatballs (shrimp is better), and a few other things I can't quite remember because I was SO hungry. They were all good, the wings were crispy, the fries were tasty...and it was very inexpensive. Service towards the end of the meal was spotty - while there weren't a lot of people in our area, there was some sort of back room with tables, and I'm pretty sure there were only two servers in the area. He was running around for a bit, so I think there must have been more than met the eye. Honestly, you won't get any special treatment or frills, but this is simply very good basic pub fare. My boyfriend and I both got burgers, The Deluxe add bacon/cheese sub fries for onion rings, and The Farmers add avocado. Wish I got a picture but we ate it wayyyy to fast. If you like old school home style cafe cooking this place is for you. They have onion rings and several different types of fries and tater tots as sides. When you get a loaded baked potato they totally loaded up with bacon cheese sour cream and a ton of butter. It's got that cool cafe truck stop you kind of vibe with real truckers inside eating talking about trucking. They had some lighter items on the menu that I'm sure would have been okay. But I knew I was getting a steak or a burger or something. I settled on what is essentially a burger dip. It's bacon, a burger patty, sauteed onions and mushrooms, unlike a garlic bread or sourdough served with a side of au jus. It was okay I like my hamburgers a little rarer this was well done which they stayed right on the menu. I upgraded to a side of sweet potato fries and they could have been hotter and crisper but they were still pretty decent. My next trip back I'll get something with gravy or maybe I'll go in for breakfast or actually get a steak. If you're driving down the highway and you want a country style cafe meal this is one of eight or nine of these in the state so you know you're getting into if you've been to the other ones. New Years day spent hiking deserved a steak dinner before heading back over the pass to the rainy side, however nothing was open because it was New Years day... Except the Buzz Inn. Well, it's not exactly gourmet faire and we didn't expect it either. However, for $17.95 (?) I had to try their New York Strip. Now, I will admit that it wasn't terrible. But it was definitely an $18 dollar steak! It was thin, like maybe 5/8 to 3/4 of an inch thick and I think the grill marks were, dare I say it, painted on like they do to cooked frozen chicken breasts out of the bag. I ordered it Medium Rare (the only way to order a steak in my completely unbiased opinion!) and it was served almost medium. However, I was too hungry and exhausted to complain. I also ordered a baked potato but didn't get it. Once my plate showed up I realized I wouldn't have eaten anyway so I just had the waitress remove it from the bill, but still, it was missing. Okay, the steak. It was okay. It definitely improved with A1. HEY! Don't diss A1! When I was a wee kidster I used sneak into the fridge and drink the stuff!... God, after divulging that no one will ever trust one of my reviews again. My friend ordered the Oriental Chicken salad and it not only looked delicious, but she said it was delicious.
