Well here we sit, one hour and counting. Everyone in our party have eaten their dishes. Me, nothing. Everything looked good and I am told their pizza is but I'm not confident I will know as the pizza keep going by our table and no pizza stops here. I really like how this place looks with the outdoor seating and the inside it looks really modern and minimalist, I love the sign outside and how there is a beer garden right across, the mushroom pizza was really good and the burrata with the bread itself was so filling and I just love burrata so much, also the fried cauliflower was a great appetizer and the sauce tasted so well with it, the waiters are so nice and everything was really fast, this is such a cute wood fired pizza place in Santa Cruz! Buzzo's has such a great vibe. The atmosphere is lively and welcoming, with an open kitchen that makes the whole experience even better. We tried the potato pizza (added sausage which was the move). The burrata with fried pizza dough was hands down the star. Omg, I want them to make a pizza on that dough. We also ordered the cauliflower appetizer and really enjoyed it. We arrived right when they opened and it was already bustling, so I'd definitely recommend considering a reservation if you're going at peak times. Another cool option is you can take the pizza to go and enjoy it over at Beer 30. Overall, amazing food, great energy, and definitely worth a visit! read more

We've been hearing people talk about Buzzos a lot lately and how incredible it is. We've been wanting to try it and finally had the chance tonight. It was AWESOME!! The ambience when you first walk in has a tropical/ Mediterranean feel and upscale inside. The staff was very warm and inviting. For the appetizer, we ordered the Barada which was recommend by the staff and incredible! The salads were fresh, light and perfectly dressed with the right amount of crunch. For our entrees, we went family style and shared the Bolognese pasta and potato pizza. YUM!!! We were excited to have finally try Buzzo's and glad to have found a new favorite spot to eat out. The bread was a little salty, but besides that, really really tasty, the burrata and tomato were delightful. We got the Jenkins pizza which was also very good! The toppings had a tendency to slide right off the slice, so eating it was a bit of a challenge. But the flavor was super well mixed. There is pineapple, but it's so small that it isn't overwhelming. It was a little noisy seated outside, but besides that the atmosphere was great. It was pretty, and the heat lamps kept us from being cold. We arrived here for dinner and although it was a bit of a challenge to find parking we were able to get a spot nearby. We were welcomed and seated in a corner table in their outdoor dining area. The place was very nice and clean. Great service and very attentive. We went with the mushroom pizza, margarita and sausage pizzas. They were all great. Came out very fast and sooo warm. I was really looking forward to having a wood fired pizza this weekend. I considered driving to Eataly, but decided I would finally try Buzzo's for lunch. They only do take out for lunch on Saturdays. We walked in and found a menu that was a little confusing. The person behind the counter finally acknowledged us, seemed a little bothered and did not make an attempt at clarifying our options. I made small talk about how I asked chat who had the best pizza in SC and Buzzos was number one, he finally warmed up. Typical SC dining customer service. We had our pizza next door at beer thirty. It was a mortadella, pistachio pesto and Parmesan pizza. There were multiple charred spots, the mortadella was deli sliced and not warm, there was very little parm and the pesto was bland. We grabbed a pie and a Caesar salad after taking the pups to Rio del Mar and ate both at home (well, maybe a hot slice in the car, too). Both were delicious! The patio was packed, the interior seating was full, and the hostess managed the line and to-go orders with incredible poise and patience (for management, this gal is blonde and had her hair done up with clips in a very artful manner, and is definitely a keeper!). Only reason for 4 stars is OMG their online ordering is PAINFUL. This was a great discovery. Just in town for a couple of days, and was in the mood for pizza. My daughter found this place on Yelp, and it looked good due to the high average rating. The food was really fantastic. We split the Burrata appetizer (picture included), which was extremely tasty- burrata cheese with roasted tomatoes, served with fried bread. The tomatoes really had a great flavor, and I'm not always a big fan. The bread was heavy but tasty, and nice to absorb plenty of cheese and tomato (and pesto). We also shared the Jenkins pizza, as it had an intriguing combination of salami, jalapeño, pineapple, and hot honey. Again, not usually a fan of pineapple on pizza, but everything surprisingly blended so well together that it didn't really stick out too much. I think it helped that the pineapple was in very small cubes, so you didn't get bites full of it. The only complaint was the toppings were continually sliding off, which made it a little tricky to eat. Ambience was a little noisy, but not terrible. We were seated in the "outside" section, with a lot of families, so that mostly explained it. Where we were seated was right by where people waited for a table, so that was a little awkward at times. Space heaters kept the temperature warm enough despite it being a fairly cold evening. Definitely recommend, and will go again when I can, with the food being the star. read more

Wow! So Buzzo is where the Fish Lady's store use to be. Totally remodeled with a wonderful wood fire pizza oven which I believe is imported from Italy. We were welcomed and seated inside at a nice high top. Julia guided us wonderfully through our meal tonight. With a couple glasses of a nice montepulciano di abruzzo from their smallish but well represented wine list, it was time to eat. We chose the arugula and prosciutto pizza with white sauce. Not overly creamy but just right. How wonderful. They don't cook the arugula or prosciutto but place it on top almost like a salad. Drizzled with a well aged balsamic vinegar. One size of pizzas, by the way. Certainly enough for two to share. Absolutely delicious. Laura recommended that we save room for one of their yummy desserts. We chose the gelato w brown butter caramel sauce. The gelato is a vanilla bean gelato. Wow! Great recommendation. We arrived for dinner around 7pm and parked our cars. The parking lot has designated spots for customers of Buzzo, but it is quite tiny. A person was parked right in front of Buzzo's (not a spot), so that made it a bit more difficult to back into a spot. In addition, there was a random woman squatting between 2 parking spots which was kind of weird because we went to hang out by our cars to wait to be seated. The wait was ~20 min for a group of 6. The wait wasn't too long, we got bored waiting by our cars, so we ventured into the grocery shop next door. Bought some nice looking fruit :) There is indoor and outdoor seating, we got seated outside in the back. For a group of 6, the waitress put together 2 circular tables. Together, we ordered 2 "the charlie", 1 mushroom with arugula, 1 prosciutto with arugula pizzas. All pizzas were tasty! My favorite would have to be the prosciutto with arugula because it was the most balanced. The mushroom with arugula was a close second, but if there was some sort of meat such as italian sausage on it, it would be perfect. As for the charlie, this one is for the meat lovers!! The dessert was amazing! I will say that the crème brûlée portion was a bit large, so I'm grateful I had my boyfriend to share it with! The chocolate ganache at the bottom added a slight bitter flavor which was refreshing, but it did become a bit overwhelming. My sister said she might have preferred the crème brûlée without the chocolate ganache. The gelato kind of tasted like the base of butter pecan ice cream and had sprinkles of cookie (tasted like biscoff biscuits!), so that was very enjoyable! This place is definitely popular, and I can see why with its delicious wood-fired pizzas and excellent atmosphere. Our group came without a reservation for dinner and was still seated in about 20 minutes. We got 4 pizzas between the 6 of us and still had a few slices left over. We for 2 Charlie's (pepperoni and some other stuff), a margherita, and a sausage. The pizza was a tad soggy on a few slices, but other than that it was fine. The toppings were generous and the dough had a nice chew to it. You can see the pizzas cooking and we loved that there was both inside and outside covered dining. We were a group of 8, a mix of adults and kids and we tried Buzzos for an impromptu dinner stop, and the hostess very graciously was able to accommodate us even though it was a busy Saturday evening. And man what a great dinner it was, we bowled over. If you're here definitely try some of these must haves - Arugula salad, warm marinated olive, crispy cauliflower and the burrata plate for appetizers. On pizzas, we did the Margherita, Mushroom, Potato pizza and the Gorgonzola.....and each outdid the other. Simply superb. We did the toffee brownie with ice-cream for dessert that was a piece of heaven. In all a terrific meal. The place was very casual but upscale in ambience, with very friendly service. their choice of drinks were also quite nice. If you are in the Santa Cruz area (Soquel) definitely stop here.
