An absolutely fantastic dinner here a few days back. We were a group of 8, a mix of adults and kids and we tried Buzzos for an impromptu dinner stop, and the hostess very graciously was able to accommodate us even though it was a busy Saturday evening. And man what a great dinner it was, we bowled over. If you're here definitely try some of these must haves - Arugula salad, warm marinated olive, crispy cauliflower and the burrata plate for appetizers. On pizzas, we did the Margherita, Mushroom, Potato pizza and the Gorgonzola.....and each outdid the other. Simply superb. We did the toffee brownie with ice-cream for dessert that was a piece of heaven. In all a terrific meal. The place was very casual but upscale in ambience, with very friendly service. their choice of drinks were also quite nice. If you are in the Santa Cruz area (Soquel) definitely stop here. Wonderful pizza! Wood-fired and each one has their own take which I really like. The place isn't huge, but it's adorable with both indoor and outdoor area (the outdoor is covered and well heated). My partner and I decided on pizza for dinner and ordered the Jenkins pizza to-go. The order process was super fast and simple, with the host being super friendly and helpful. We placed the order and walked to Beer 30 to wait for the pizza. We had literally just gotten our beer (about 8 mins after ordering) when I received the text that the pizza was ready. When we got the pizza we decided to eat at Beer 30 since we still had our beer (so no driving time, etc). I was so excited to try it, yet was disappointed the moment I pulled a slice and the entire toppings slid off, including the cheese. The more we ate, the more disappointing the pizza became. The toppings consistently kept sliding off the pizza, when biting into the crust, we could taste/feel the dough. The mozzarella wasn't fully even cooked, there were a ton of chunks throughout the slices. We realized after 2 slices that although we initially appreciated how fast the service was, the reality was that the pizza wasn't cooked fully. Overall, this experience was extremely disappointing and for the cost, you're better off trying any other pizza joint in Santa Cruz county. read more

These were the best pizzas ever! we had a party of 10 , you can split a pizza with somebody because they're pretty big and all the ingredients are so fresh and delicious. I split a Caesar salad with my son ,even though I grow my own lettuce and have fresh food every day, This was probably the best salad I ever had. It was so good. The waiter was fantastic so cheerful and even the bus boys and the girls were beyond helpful. we ate outside. It was really a great atmosphere. Great but not the best pizza in Santa Cruz in my opinion. We got the pizza with potatoes and bacon on it and it was scrumptious! Only reason why I knocked off one star was for the crust. Not my favorite type of crust and I wasn't able to finish the whole pizza cause of it. We got to-go but the inside of the restaurant looked so warm and comfy! Pleasantly surprised by this location. We wanted pizza local and it was getting late and this place popped up. We had the meatballs and then added the arancini and went with the sausage pizza for the entree at the waiter's recommendation. It was all delicious, with the surprise star being the arancini. Great pizzas! Fun & inviting environment. The outdoor area was adorable. Service was good. We had a party of 4 adults & 1 child. We ordered 4 pizzas, which was too much, but we were happy to have leftovers:) We ordered sparkling waters and sodas. They're served can style, not unlimited refills. We ordered the pepperoni, margarita, potato, & The Charlie. The potato pizza is unique and surprisingly tasty. All the pizzas were good, flavorful, and perfectly light/crispy. We're going back this weekend for more pizza fun. We're hoping to grab pizzas to go to enjoy @ Beer Thirty (next door). Highly recommend. read more

Me and my husband were visiting Capitola for vacation and we decided to stop here on our last night to get a pizza. I would definitely recommend this pizza. We got the pepperoni plus the mushrooms and sausage and it was 10 out of 10. It did say that it had chili on the pepperoni, but I didn't taste it so don't worry about it being over spicy. I was surprised when I walked up the upscale atmosphere was. I would definitely like to go back here for a quiet dinner. Unfortunately, I ate all the pizza before I could take a picture. Buzzo is the bomb! (We're an ABC family-Anything But Carpos). Got there around five on Saturday and there were a few tables taken, but we were seated promptly outside in the covered patio area, which is very nice. When there was too much sun, the waiter kindly put the umbrella up to give us a little more shade. Pizzas were to die for. Nice chewy crust, slightly crisp from the woodfired oven and great toppings. We had a sausage pizza and the Charlie's pizza. Both were excellent. To top it off we had a side order of Arancini and that was very good too. Interesting creamy sauce served with it and very cheesy-creamy filling on the rice balls. also had a Caesar salad that we split between the four of us and it was perfect. Very nice dressing interesting lettuce is with romain, radicchio and frisée. Beer selection is kind of lame unless you're into IPAs. Had to settle for a Scrimshaw Pilsner. The spritz was a nice drink. I guess with Beer 30 next-door it's hard to compete with beer. I wonder how many people get pizza to go from Buzzo and walk over to Beer 30 and have a decent beer and then have their pizza there. It's a great idea Slightly confusing on the extra charges. Looks like there was a three or 3 1/2% surcharge probably for living wage? And then they don't give you an extra charge for a credit card but give you a 4% discount if you pay cash, so it's kind of a flip on that method. Overall, very enjoyable and the place was filled up when we left at 6 o'clock. read more

Sat outside with our pup and the heaters felt great! Francisco was attentive and the food came out quick. The Caesar was different, but a good different! After spending a day at the beach, my family and I were looking for a good place to have pizza, so we decided to try Buzzo's and from the moment we walked in, we were completely ignored. It wasn't until a member of our party who wasn't a person of color is when the staff decided to acknowledge us and sit us at a table. As we sat, we got unwelcoming stares from the entire staff. The whole ambiance was unwelcoming and unpleasant experience. The entire staff was not polite and inattentive. The pizza was also very disappointing. The pizza crust was very white and was not done. The toppings also completely slid off the pizza as we proceeded to eat. I also noticed that the locals were eating their pizza with forks which says a lot about the quality of the pizza. I would not recommend eating at this place if you are a person of color. It seems that staff does not prefer people of color and will definitely make sure your experience is very unpleasant when comes to service and the food. read more

Visited Beer Thirty so I of course had to try Buzzo's as it is next door/walking distance! Ordered takeout, but their restaurant was very small and cute inside. They have a large covered patio which looked really nice. Tried the sausage and potato pizza. The crust was super thin so we lost some of our toppings given we ate the pizza right away. Good flavor but was expecting a little more. Simple and light pizzas. I'll give them another go to try their additional menu items. Definitely beats your normal Beer Thirty window food so Buzzo's is absolutely welcome! read more

Nice staff at the front and clean bathrooms, but the pizza is oddly doughy for a thin crust, and the service was just too frustrating. After 10 minutes or so, I asked if we could order our food, a staff member said, "I don't serve this table." Later, during the meal, we got up and asked for the wine list but no one ever returned for us to order. The garbage smell from outside was overwhelming. Sadly this happened during our previous visit so l it's not worth dining in. Maybe try takeout if this pizza suits your tastes. read more

You never know what to think of 5 star reviews, but Buzzo's is the real deal. We had the beet and arugula salad. Both were excellent. Fresh ingredients done exceptionally well. I am picking about my pizza, Buzzo's does not disappoint. Delicious and they know how to use a wood burning oven. We like our crust boiling crisp and that is the way it came. Definitely order the mushroom pizza. They have a short list of beers. You should be able to find something to your liking. Also a very affordable wine list. The service is exemplary. Always interested in how they can make your experience top notch. A restaurant we will always come back to. If you love pizza and a great salad it is a must.
