We got two cupcakes: - Carrot Cake: Definitely my favorite of the two- loved the crunchy bits of carrot that provided textural diversity and the strong cinnamon essence. Also loved the cream cheese frosting. - Chocolate Blackberry: I wish this had more blackberries- the sour contrast & freshness of the berry was very much needed for (& delightful with) the heavy cupcake, but one berry was not enough. Other than the fruit on top, I couldn't really distinguish the berry flavor in the buttercream icing. Are these the best cupcakes I've ever had? Not really. Did they satisfy my craving for sugar? For sure. Their lattes & shakes actually sounded really good, will definitely try those if I come again. There's plenty of outdoor seating (with some inside seating) & parking. We decided to check out this bake shop on a random Saturday afternoon after seeing some great flavors on their website. I'd say the overall experience was meh. The girl at the register was lovely, super sweet and friendly. The lady making the coffee drinks seemed to be in a bad mood. I was excitedly asking if they had any food truck events coming up soon and no one really said anything, the girl at the register apologized for not having more info. The cupcakes themselves were okay. The gluten free cupcake was super grainy and gritty, not good. The regular cupcakes were better but had way too much almond flavoring. I thought about getting a dole whip instead but it was over $7, which seemed really expensive. The best part of the visit was the coffee. Their iced coffee is awesome! I would come back just for a coffee but I will skip the cupcakes next time. read more

Buzzy Bakes is a small craft bakery with a style of its own. There's no real dining space except a table against the wall. I order mostly carryout boxes of cupcakes. This review marks my first time trying their cupcake sundaes. Think of it as a different take on a milkshake. The cupcake is turned upside down with soft ice cream on top. We were in the area to eat and try a bunch of food. We stopped here for some cupcakes since we needed a dessert to go with our other food. We ordered three cupcakes and I don't remember one of the names but there was the Funfetti, Snickerdoodle, and one other cupcake. The staff was nice and friendly and this was a cozy spot to buy some cupcakes. It was also quick service as well. The Funfetti cupcake was good and same with the Snickerdoodle cupcake. Before heading to the airport I stopped into this lovely bakery and chatted with the ladies behind the counter as well as another customer. This place (at Boxyard RTP) is adorable, everything from the cakes to the cookies, the gifts & the decor. We haven't tried any of the drinks but the baked goods really taste as good they look! I love that the cupcakes are not overly sweet, and the flavor is what is showcased. This has become our go-to bakery, and we love dropping by to see what's new. The lemonade was average so I would probably opt for another drink next time. The cupcake was amazing! The cake had a nice flavor and the icing was so so good. This is a small newish bakery that displays the most delicious-looking cupcakes and cookies. There were probably a half-dozen choices available, like birthday cake, carrot, peanut-butter cup, double chocolate, etc. I am a chocoholic, so of course the double-chocolate one was calling my name. The cupcake was really good. Even though I don't like overly sweet icing, which this was (just a tad), it still had a bit of a tanginess to it, which I suspect is from using cream cheese as an ingredient. The cake itself was richly decadent and extremely moist, and was the star of the show. Awesome cake. I know prices have gone up during the pandemic, but the price of a single cupcake is (including tax) $4.30. Definitely worth the occasional splurge, though. read more

I love the cupcakes here because it's not too sweet. Other places punch you in the face with a sugar blast so you can't really taste the actual flavors. But the cupcakes here have a good sugar ratio while providing you rich flavors. I also really like the consistency of the cake. Not sure how to describe it but it's not too soft and doesn't soak up the frosting. Now that they opened up an actual set store in Boxyard Durham, I'll be visiting more often to get some sweet treats! read more

Buzzy Bakes has opened a spot at Boxyard RTP! I was excited to grab a cupcake here and catch up with friends. I wish I had gotten some pictures - the shop was really cute! When you walk in, the space is very small but feels homey, with a glass cabinet to peruse the cupcake selection. I came at the very end of the day and was excited to see there were several flavors still to choose from. I was able to snag the last Honey Buzz cupcake and it was really good! I found it to be a really unique flavor. To be honest, I expected it to just taste like yellow cake but there is definitely something special about it. The two times I have been in the staff are just so wonderful and friendly! The chocolate chip cookies are to die for. They are freshly made quite frequently and they are the bomb.com. Carrie and Kristie were SO great to work with. My (now) husband and I went to our first wedding cake tasting at a well known bakery in Cary and knew a full on wedding cake just wouldn't be for us. We contacted Buzzy Bakes and were sold right after our tasting! Their bourbon pecan pie and bananas foster cupcakes were hits at our wedding. An important aspect to us was not only the desserts, but hot tea and coffee service. Their urns were so elegant and their hot tea (full leaf requested) was very popular throughout the evening with my family. From the moment I first tried their classic honey buzz cupcake, I knew I had to have them for my wedding. Their cupcakes are moist and perfectly sweet. I consider myself a baked good connoisseur, who does some baking myself, and these cupcakes are THE BEST. I'm not really a huge cupcake fan honestly, but if all cupcakes tasted like Buzzy Bakes, I'd be singing a different tune. My guests loved the cupcakes, and I got many compliments on them. In addition to having amazing tasting cupcakes, their customer service as well. Carrie was so friendly and personable. My only regret is that we left the topper cake in our hotel room fridge on accident. Not getting to finish that cake will haunt me til the end of my days. If you're going to have cupcakes for your event, buzzy bakes was great to work with and the cupcakes were second to none. read more

First time I tried their cupcakes was this past weekend. They were OK at best. The buttercream is really good, but the cupcake itself is dense and dry. Staff was generally nice, but -- I bought a small box and asked for a bag, and they forced the box into the bag, which then tore, but they brushed it off and said they don't put boxes in bags (huh?) and that it should be fine. Well, because of that, the bag completely tore open while I was carrying it around and the cupcakes fell to the floor and got destroyed. $15 wasted.
