BUYER BEWARE - GET COMPETIVE QUOTES - Called BVS first because they had done some other work for us. The blower in our system was not working. Come to find out it was the Circuit Board on the Blower that had died. BVS quoted $4,500 to replace the blower motor, the circuit board and the capacitor. Note: Only the circuit board was not working. We ultimately paid $890.00 to replace the circuit board and our A/C is working. Lots of up sell. Multiple large quotes. Won't use them again. Didn't feel they were honest and transparent with the real issue. read more

Kobe was my service technician. He was a knowledgeable, hardworking, and honest young man. He didn't waste any time and provided a professional customer service experience. The office staff who answered the phone when I called were all excellent. I would have given then 5 stars but for the service manager. He tried to charge me almost 300 dollars for the job that ultimately I ended up paying 60 dollars for. I requested all estimates to be provided prior to the work being done and after multiple calls to the service manager no estimate was provided until I recieved the final 300 bill. Need: Having moved a dwelling to BVS Home Expert's Sealy, TX. service area, needed an assessment of Daikin Mini-Split AC/Heating units & a possible refrigerant recharge in calendar year 2022. Was told they wouldn't service our units unless they installed them. Service Requested: Fast forward to August, 2023. Contacted BVS Home Experts again. Asked if they would agree to a service call to assess our three installed units to determine why or why not they could service each. Our request this time was to agree to an annual maintenance contract as well as establish a working relationship for service should any of our three Daikin mini-split units require repair. Or, would they provide future service if we replaced our current units with their units which they would install. Results after four phone calls & one online request for service: (1) DVS Home Experts responded to online request by calling us & leaving a voicemail to contact them. (2) Called twice with promise to check with management to determine if they'd service our units since they didn't install them. Didn't respond to us over a 2-week period. (3) Called a third time & received a response re: will call us back by end of the day (August 25,2023. As of five days later, no call. Question for potential new clients seeking to give a local establishment their business: Why do so if you, as a potential client, is willing to help a local merchant expand their client base? If they're willing to not even provide feedback on a request for service, what level of actual service will you receive? A company is certainly free to establish whatever service policy they so desire but it'd be nice if they simply came out and said "...we don't want your business; go away". read more

My AC is not cooling as it should. After the person who took my call for this company found out that all of the components were less than three months old, she refused to book an appointment. The BVS employee who screened my call made it very clear to me that they will not book an appointment to provide their services unless they think that there may a chance that they may be able to convince you to purchase a new unit. read more

I called Brazos Valley Services to get a quote for a new system in a house that I'm remodeling and adding onto. I left a message and a few hours later I received a call back informing me that they do not work on new construction and were not interested in selling me a system. This seems to be a direct contradiction to their claims to be the ones to call for "all" of your HVAC needs. The woman on the phone was polite. read more

We used BVS 20 years ago to replace our 2 AC's ..during this time they faithfully kept them serviced and on top working order .. but no matter time marched on and those units became outdated and extremely deteriorated, afraid that they would stop working any minute.. electric bill was seriously climbing .. Thomas with BVS came out to service my units .. he shared with me how a new much more efficient unit would benefit me .. Thank you Thomas .. woohoo they installed the units yesterday .. stayed until the job was completed, cleaned up completely before they left .. service and installation are impeccable .. last night was the first night my house was truly cool the entire night !! I called to set up for maintenance service (office very knowledgeable, polite, everything I wanted). I have a newer system that's about 3 years old but everyone around me a/c units were breaking and they were calling me to use my portable ac unit. I didn't want to take any chances w/ my unit so I took a chance w/ Brazos after reading the google reviews. My schedule was limited but they were able to schedule me on my requested day in the same week with a late appt, 5-7. I got a call around 6pm to resch b/c by the time the tech gets there it would be after dark. I understand service calls can be unpredictable but I would of appreciated a call earlier in the day. They offered to come out on the next day but again - my schedule limited so I sch for a week later between 5-7. I got a call around 630, tech running behind and will be there about 730. I got another call from tech around 730, on his way be there 30-35min. He got there after 8pm, I was concerned b/c it was getting dark. He started immediately, showed my husband what he did upstairs and went straight to the back to look at the condensor (?). Did not give me excuses, did not tell me he needs to resch b/c it dark - he got it done. My husband stood out there w/ a flash light, asked questions, tech showed him everything he did step by step. When you want the best service company, sometimes you will need to wait b/c everyone else wants the best too. My system was not broken so it wasn't imperative they serviced asap. I'm glad I waited and I'm not normally a patient person. I signed up for the one year maintenance contract and will recommend them to anyone in the area. It's hard to find a company you can trust, has good customer service and service technicians. When you find one, you hold on tight! Running a little behind should not discourage you from using any company. We all run late one day or another. Since they communicated with me every step of the way, I did not allow that to play a factor in my rating. Thank you for the great service read more

My mother got a quote for HVAC repair. Three lbs of freon, a capacitor, contactor, and condensor fan and the cost was almost $1600. I got two other quotes from other companies for about 1/3 of the cost. The Technician tried to take adavantage of my elderly mother. Let me just say that I would've given them 5 stars but they cancelled my first appointment due to an overloaded schedule. This was after I'd scheduled almost three weeks in advance. They called the day of the appointment to notify of the cancellation......it was frustrating as we've got a lot going on and small windows of opportunity to get stuff like this done. Matt came out and did his thing. Our unit checked out and he gave me a thorough verbal report and then followed up with a more universal computerized report. Matt was professional in every way.......took time to field my questions and was knowledgeable enough to give me good answers to hypothetical questions. All in all the scheduling was the only downside to the entire transaction, but it's business and the weather has been crazy so we'll assume this is the exception and not the rule. read more

I was thriled to find they had the records for the unit and could respond promptly. Dave arrived at the promised time and went right to work. Worst service ever !!! To make a long story short I had a leak in one of my coils and was told that my system that was 7 yrs old was not under warranty. They then told me the best thing would be to purchase a whole new system that would have a 12 yr warranty . The cost of this new system would be $23,000.00 . I was told so much bs in the two hours they were at my home . I called another company for second opinion and my system is under warranty and the coil would be free of charge just installation fee of $600.00. No one has ever tried to take advantage of me like this company . Horrible !!! I have since learned of others that were taken advantage of by this company . read more

Brad Bryson was the tech that did the work. I like him. He went right to what I needed ,had the stuff on the truck that he needed. Him and his helper were very nice. Sorry Ronnie, once shame on you, twice shame on me. Brazos Valley Services replaced both entire units up and downstairs 11 years ago this month, wonderful job at a good price. I recently had need of service, called BVS because of the last experience I had with them. BIG mistake, the service technician refused to do a diagnostic test without first replacing parts/units costing over $2000. This tech was relentless, trying to sell me a new unit claiming my unit was over 13 years old. BVS replace it 11 years ago. I won't go in to all the language between us. I paid my $79 service fee and sent him packing. Called a different repairman, he replaced the outside fan and capacitor, cleaned the coils (parts were $180). Works good as new. I believe in customer service, it is what separates good business from shysters like BVS. Buyer beware!! I wouldn't give them a star, however Yelp will not let me post without a star. To be fair they were prompt. If that deserves a star...so be it. read more

We did business with BVS for about fifteen years. It started when our A/C went out at 5:00 on a Friday afternoon, and our former A/C company wouldn't even answer the phone. We called BVS, and they sent someone out within thirty minutes. The tech fixed the problem, and after that experience, we gave BVS 100% of our HVAC business. For years, they never disappointed us. Their techs were always polite and respectful, and they provided top-notch service at competitive prices. Rene provided most of our HVAC service for a long time, and we couldn't ask for a nicer tech or better service. For several years now, BVS has been getting "fancier." They forgot what made them great: their small-town Texas service. Then their techs became sales people. We couldn't even get our semi-annual HVAC check without having to sit through a high-pressure sales pitch. They would push all sorts of unnecessary high-dollar bells and whistles, and that got old very quickly. We suffered through this for several years and had already begun to think about dumping them, and then came the proverbial last straw: a drunk tech. We needed emergency service on a Saturday night, and the on-call tech apparently forgot he was on-call and tied one on. He arrived at our house much later than he should have, and I can only assume that he had tried to sober up a little before making the call. Even so, when he entered our house, he was still reeking of booze. He struggled up the stairs and up the ladder to our attic, examined our system, did some minor work, and returned downstairs to talk to us about what he found--and he literally fell down our stairs. Luckily he wasn't seriously injured, but we still had to smell the booze on his breath while he told us (slurring badly) what he had found wrong. That was it. We promptly canceled our agreement with BVS and will never do business with them again. On balance, our years of doing business with BVS were positive, but they fell off dramatically toward the end. Techs should fix stuff; they shouldn't be sales people. And on-call techs should stay sober, just in case they get a call. Weekend calls in southeast Texas can't be unusual. Ten years ago--maybe as recently as five years ago--I would have given BVS a solid five stars and recommended them highly. I can no longer do that in good conscience. They've ruined a great thing--how sad. read more

My father's AC went out, they were prompt in going out there, but they really overcharge and in my opinion took advantage of a senior citizen who was panicked, overheated in the Texas heat. He is in his 70s and doesn't comprehend as well as he used to. My first major issue is they did not give him lower priced options. They charged $7500 for replacing his condenser, evaporator coil and thermostat. I have seen a lot of HVAC quotes from replacement of condensers to full new HVAC installs in homes, here in California where our labor costs are higher, in homes that didn't have central air nor heat, and this price is HIGH. I called and spoke to the owner Karen at BVS who I don't think believed me when I told her they are high, so I did what she asked, I called multiple HVAC contractors in Katy or the Houston area, who work with Daikin condensers and I got 3 verbal quotes which range from $3400-5500. I was also told that there are less expensive options to Daikin that are even better on the warranty- its a lifetime warranty for an Amana for instance for the entire outside unit, not just limited warranty on certain parts. She told me they gave him a discount already, from almost 10K to the $7500, for going out on a Sunday and giving him a window unit until they could get the condenser in there. So I asked what it would have cost if they went out on a weekday and she said they don't charge differently but they didn't charge to remove the window unit. I'm not writing a review on the quality of the work as only time will tell. I'm writing about 1. they did not explain ANY lower priced options to a senior with impaired comprehension 2. they overcharged for their services. While Karen was polite in speaking to me, I would strongly caution using this provider based on cost and particularly if you have an elder parent who is not savvy with social media, checking reviews or is particularly vulnerable to salesmanship. read more

Bradly was our technician that came out after my upstairs unit stopped working. It was nice to see that Bradly checked all the components and found that the starter went bad. We had another company come out a few days before and were told that we needed a new system and this one was not repairable. I understand that our unit is 12 years old but it was nice to see that the Brazos Valley team-member did a systematic check of the the system to attempted to find the issue and in this case fix it.. I was told I was approved for in house financing, they came out did the work, then weeks later asked me to sign back dated loan papers 3 different times. I did everything they asked including overnighting my monthly payments and getting signed receipt received, then later they come back demanding full payment and threatening repossession when I havent missed a payment. Have to hire attorney now to get this cleared up and lien they filed against my house removed. I would not recommend them as their office staff is very unorganized and now costing me money and time and mental anguish. read more

This company is not what it use to be! They are more about sales than quality. The service charge was a little high but reasonable. The technician misdiagnose the problem and quoted me hundreds of dollars to repair it and they would need time to order replacement parts. I asked for the quote in writing and they refused! I even called their office and got a running around response. So I got a second opinion. The second company charged me a service call and reprogramed the thermostat for free! I haven't had a problem with my A/C since then. The second company total bill was less than the service charge of BVS. read more

Bought 2 complete systems from them. The salesman and installers were great. I will not use BVS anymore as I was told that because I did not pay for a tech to check these new systems 2 times a year at a charge of $79.95 a visit that my units were no longer under warranty. I found this out when I called them with a problem I was having with one of the units. Tech tried to get me to enroll in a yearly membership at $18 a month. He checked the unit. I asked if he would check the other unit and he said it would be an additional charge. Tech ended up showing me a cost of over $500 with a membership or over $600 without. I asked why it was so high and how much Freon was needed. He said that he could not say at the time, after checking the unit. Paid $79.95 for basically nothing but a sales job to get me to pay a monthly fee, and an inflated price because I did not pay to have them come out twice a year to check brand new units. Never heard such BS that my units are no longer under warranty because I did not pay $160 a year for them to check units that were new. Tech tried to explain that all warranties cost. I told him I do not buy extended warranties. He told me if you buy a new car you have to pay to get a warranty. I told him no you do not as all manufacturers have a warranty on their products. Tried to tell me basically that on a new car you have to have a pro to change the oil on it or the warranty is void. What BS. Stay away from this company, unless you want to pay them to honor the manufacturers warranty. read more

They oversized my A/C unit so it didn't cool like it should have, told me it should be replaced when all that needed to be replaced was the cooling coils and way over-charged me. They removed all my old equipment and when I had them remove the new equipment, I didn't get my old working compressor back nor the money they received for it. This this is a letter to Discover to dispute charges.... Charges of $69.00 and $99.00 are being disputed because of inability of Brazos Valley Services to correctly diagnose A/C problem. BVS insisted that a power fluctuation was causing an A/C unit to repeatedly fail. Original unit was replaced because BVS could not repair. Replacement unit continuously failed over 7 days because of failure to correctly diagnose problem. BVS contended that power problems were causing the unit to register a "Hard Fail" and that the unit was not at fault. Mrs. Lovett suggested that the A/C unit be tested more closely; specifically the logic card in the unit, after BVS technician stated the logic card was a newer version and not the same as the logic card in our 2nd A/C unit. Owner of BVS "Ronnie" refused to have technician test card continuing to state the problem was power related. At their our own expense, the Lovett's brought an electrician on site while BVS technician was present and electrician confirmed that there was no power fluctuation. Continuing to state that power problems were the root cause, the Lovett's brought a representative from the power provider, Reliant Energy, who also confirmed that there was not a power problem, no fluctuation whatsoever, and the power provider had not experienced any power fluctuation problems in our service area. BVS owner finally acknowledged that he would schedule a factory representative (from Amana) to be on-site. When factory rep arrived, he immediately replaced logic card and unit has operated since without any further failures. Factory rep also confirmed that the "hard fail" code registered on the unit that BVS owner was using as his basis for blaming power fluctuations as the root cause, was in fact caused by the technician removing the breaker mounted on the outside house wall before turning the A/C unit off at the thermostat inside the house. Factory Rep also confirmed that visit by factory rep was not required to diagnose and repair/replace logic card inside A/C unit. At no time did BVS offer any alternative solutions to correcting this problem. For these reasons I am disputing the diagnostic charges as BVS was unable to correctly diagnose the correct repair need to return A/C unit to service without further disruption. Additionally, the Lovett's have a signed agreement with BVS for maintenance that clearly states that if we are not satisfied with the service, payment is not required. Also, we purchased a Maintenance Contract when we purchased our AC units in which Brazos was automatically withdrawing $26 per month since May 2009. Upon having service issues with Brazos, they terminated the membership when diagnostic fees were disputed. we are still in DISPUTE, using yelp for Restaurant Information I was pleasantly pleased to see the company listed, as consumers should be informed. read more

The technician came across very knowledgeable ...BUT after a 2nd and 3rd opinion I found I wasted my service call cost as BVS tried to over-sale me for what I needed. I do think this is a capable company with the right tools and training but apparently trained a little too well on the sales end. Brad did a great job identifying the problem with my air condition system and he was able to fix it promptly. Technician did not perform contractual obligation per my contract with you. 1. Outside units were not cleaned. 2. Drain was not cleared 3. Technician Recommendation quote is outrageous. - 2 Blower Capacitors @ $430 (a few years ago your company changed one of mine and only charged $75. - Drain Pan Replacement @$594 (a few years ago another technician was suppose to coat the pan with a rub base product. She only completed one pan) Base price for a pan for the size I need is approx. $95 - Clear Drain @ $296 - as a premium customer and paying approx. $360 for service @ 29.90 a month, this was part of that plan I thought - 2 Contactors @ $662 - In speaking with another HVAC vendor, this should only cost approx. $140 - $160 -R22 Recharge @ $634 - Is this a blanket price with not idea of how much Freon is needed. On the internet, I can find a 30lb canister of Dupont R22 of Freon for max cost 400 Total cost your technician recommendation @ $2616. Parts cost approx. $250. So are you telling me that labor cost is over 10% @ $2116 Very dissatisfied after being with you for several years. read more
