Margarita and Paloma, bold, refreshing, and beautifully crafted cocktails.

Cocktails at BXCR are next level!! Tried the drink of the day and it was amazing. The Paloma was perfectly balanced, and the espresso martini (espresso chocolate vibes with a Luxardo cherry) was unreal!! Bartenders clearly know what they're doing, super skilled and very cool. Would definitely come back just for the drinks!!

BXCR Underground is a great bar located on the lower floor in the Anaheim Packing District. You can't miss the big green train by the bottom of the central staircase. We arrived around 6pm on a Sunday evening and we were bummed that it was packed full inside. We decided to go have a drink upstairs, and then come back down later to see if it was any less busy. There must have been one big group who left because 30 minutes later, it was completely empty inside. There are a few wood tables outside of the entrance and several two seat tables along the outside of the side of the train, but for a first visit we definitely wanted to be inside. When you come inside at BXCR, there are two long green couches along each side that wrap around to the entrance to maximize available space. There are two steamer trunks on each side that serve as tables. We were surprised that all of the tables had a Yahtzee game on them, and we had a blast playing that while we enjoyed our drinks. If you happen to roll a Yahtzee, they give you a candle as a prize. There is good background music playing that fits the environment. There is some good décor with overhead baggage racks and international clocks on one wall, and gauges on the wall next to the bar. There are some small rectangular windows along the top of both sides, and some curtained windows on the right side which do let a little light in. When the main entrance door is opened before its dark outside, it does let quite a bit of light in and kills the ambience temporarily. I would recommend coming closer to or after sunset to not let any outside sunlight interfere with your experience. The drinks are made at the bar in the rear where there are several seats and a little standing room. It wasn't on the current menu, but I saw on a previous menu they had an Amaretto Sour so I started with that, and it did not disappoint. It was nice and frothy from an egg white and had Angostura bitters on top. My girlfriend started with the Calm Cruise which was great. It's basically a Pina Colada, but with an additional honeydew flavor in the background. For number two, I tried the C-League cocktail. The smokiness of Mezcal has grown on me lately if it is not the primary flavor, and in this drink it is at a nice level somewhere in the middle. The cucumber and cilantro are definitely present, along with a little heat from the ancho verde and a little sweetness from the Luxardo maraschino. This is a excellent easy-drinking tequila cocktail. Her number two was the Aviation which she enjoyed. Vince was our main bartender along with Sarah. They were very friendly and fun to chit-chat with while they were mixing up our drinks. This is definitely a cool place to check out, and we will definitely return.

I've been wanting to come in for so long, but it was always too crowded. Luckily on an early Saturday evening, we found two seats at the bar. We were immediately greeted by the bartender and had our drinks within a few minutes. The Dirty Shirley and Fuego En Jalisco were so incredible that we came back for another round after our show at the Stuffed Potato. The pomegranate added a lovely tart flavor without too much sweet syrup. Prices were moderate at $16 each. Although it's a tiny bar, it felt cozy and intimate. We will definitely be back when we have more time to hang out. I enjoyed quizzing my husband using the 1988 sports trivia book our bill arrived in. Happy Hours posted on the menu photo.

Really cool bar! It's so unique. I've never seen a bar that is a literal train. It's dark and cozy inside. I love the dim lighting and ambiance. It gives off a dark and mysterious feel. It's not very big inside. You walk up to the bar and order some drinks, then sit down somewhere. Only 21 and older can pass the front entrance area. Before going inside, I saw how crowded it was. And debated on whether it would be worth waiting for it to clear out. I'm not a fan of crowded small places- too stuffy. But some people left and I was able to go in. Service was fine. They do not sell food, only alcoholic beverages.

This place is probably my favorite example of changing demand. Started wine only with some gimmicks, then added cocktails and most recently early morning soccer/ sports. Now i understand this drastically changes the vibe if they run sports at night, it essentially will stop them the date night traffic, but I don't know what theirs plans are for night time tv use. Cocktails are great and the attentiveness of the staff is usually pretty strong, there is a lot of industry activity at the packing house and sometimes those conversations dominate attention....

I've been here a few times and while it's always good, I've never been wowed. The space is cool, with a train concept tucked under the Anaheim packing district. The service has always been good, the bartenders are tucked behind the bar and typically stay back there. Lastly, the drinks are always good. Super reliable!

Cheers - my espresso Martini was absolutely delicious - two Big Lebowski's

This is the small little bar we found you can barely see it but the door was open and they had these old cases used as tables to set drinks on loved it. Kind of a dark small cute inviting little bar. The bartenders were super sweet, it was also kind of busy for a Wednesday night which was kind of cool! I definitely want to come back, I had the espresso martini and my friends got the Big Lebowski drink which was also very good. The espresso martini was amazing I loved it! I really enjoyed our girls night, was nice to get out and enjoy some drinks and just be out enjoying the evening since I never go out. I hope to come back here again and I would highly recommend coming here for a drink and maybe some food! Loved it! Have a beautiful day :) Aloha

Awesome little bar located in the Anaheim Packing House! I love the theme of this place. You are sitting in a vintage train car. The ambiance is warm and inviting. My friend and I enjoyed a glass of wine here and ended up chatting with the bartender for a bit. He was super friendly. Could definitely see myself coming back to hang out!

Such an awesome lil place. Stumbled upon it accidentally. Drinks were great. Place was super clean. Service was good. We will be back. There was a lot to see inside this place. It's a gem. They give you a book (not to have) with a receipt. It was a nice touch.

Wait, how have I not reviewed Colony Wine Merchant yet?! CWM is an absolute gem…read more My husband and I started going here about 4 years ago after I hosted a private event here. Ever since then, it's become a regular spot for us. The owners Sonya and Mike are truly what make Colony special -- but so does their incredible staff. I can't say enough good things about Shalene, Molly, Camille... anyone we come in contact with is always so sweet and attentive. The wine selection speaks for itself. Sonya does a great job at bringing a rotating selection that we always enjoy. There is always a featured flight that, a great selection of white, red, and bubbles, and they even have some craft beers available as well. There is also a great selection of wine to purchase to take home with you after. But the food. Oh my, you don't just go to Colony for the wine because their food is absolutely FANTASTIC. You can't go wrong with their charcuterie, and let me tell you they have the BEST french fries in Orange County. The daily specials have never disappointed and on Tuesday nights you can't get one of the best grilled cheese around. We love visiting on Thursday nights because the owner Mike does live music on Thursdays where he sings and plays the guitar. This last year, my husband got us their wine membership which we have really enjoyed. Every other month you get a curated four wine selection and you get to come during a window to pick up your wine and you get two free flights to enjoy when you pick up. Pays for half the membership in itself. My only complaint? It's not closer to our house... which maybe is a good thing. And I won't deduct a star over it.

To our surprise, we were so thrilled to see Colony Wine Merchant had a good sized menu with various options to choose from: small bites, appetizers, entrees and dessert. We weren't too hungry so we opted for the daily sandwich of the day and their seasonal soup offering. Every bite from both items was enjoyed so much. The soup had the perfect consistency of creaminess followed by savory tomato flavor. It had some delicious (and I think) roasted potatoes, and the side of roasted sourdough with roasted tomatoes was perfection and really brought the dish together beautifully. The daily sandwich of the day was also fantastic! We remember biting into the sandwich and it melting in our mouth. The bread was beautifully crunchy and the meat with all its toppings inside couldn't have been any better. For our drinks, we opted to do a tasting of whites and reds. The wines were selected by our host (if I recall) and remember enjoying them all. It was fun to taste not only different varietals, but wines from different parts of the world. I was especially excited to see they had a really great selection of wine bottles to purchase in their wine shop. I happened to see one of my favorite ones there. We ended up purchasing a sparkling wine bottle at the end of our experience to have with our thanksgiving meal the following day. The service was A+. Every interaction from when we first walked in the door, being seated, being provided food recommendations, was a great experience. The ambiance is perfectly casual with a slight elevatedness to it. You don't have to wear a cocktail dress or tux to come here but it's definitely a perfect date night place or to come with friends and loved ones and enjoy a delicious meal followed by great wine. We were on a time crunch and wish we would have stayed to enjoy an actual entree but look forward to being back in town and visiting Colony Wine Merchant again.

They offer bar seating and booth / table Follow the wall from Randy's donuts and Look for a wall of Japanese sake/beer barrels and head towards the restaurant - the rolling boil. There will be a check in host and stand there and wait (it will be located up against the wall with a big secret door right next to the hostess station) It's very New York inside. When I first came in Spring with the amazing, Karen, the menu and everything was great Now, I took my friend who was in town from Nashville and it was a brand new theme. It's the great Gatsby. Even our waitress, Jasmine was dressed for the occasion. I would say this place is known for Absinthe. They have cocktails featuring it or you can get one of the huge apparatus (huge and glowing green) which, if you are into it? I highly recommend. Just one of the huge apparatus makes one regular drink. Or, what Karen and I did, was split it and make it into a shot for the both of us. The waitress comes out and shows you how it works and goes over everything. Karen, who I came with, was a pro and knew her way around it. She showed me the ropes lol. Honestly, if you are here? When in Rome. Go all out and try it, since it's where they shine here. They took off a few menu items and added some themed drinks. ( a couple new champagne themed drinks) They have big entree items but I suggest small bites and sharing and mostly coming for the drinks. There's no bathroom inside, so you do have to leave the bar and go to the closest one (over behind Randy's donuts) and then enter the speakeasy again Both times coming here I've never had an issue. It's a small, packed place. And yet they still have the cocktails flowing and the food coming out in a good time. So the food and drinks are good Atmosphere is lovely. Service is good. Especially for it usually being very busy in here This place is located inside the Anaheim packing district. So I suggest hitting up a couple other spots before or afterwards for some more food or drinks P.S. it is very dark In here. They never cared if we used our light to look at the menu. However, they do not want flash photography They also do not strictly enforce a dress code (my friend from Nashville asked) however, they suggest dressing business casual and not too underdressed

I really liked the clarified strawberry drink, similar to strawberry and cream. I ordered a drink after that unfortunately forgot the name (photo attached with a tall glass) but there was no special cocktail craft taste to it. Just hard liquor taste and undrinkable :( the bartender kindly offered another drink. Unfortunately none of the food was the least bit good. Steak and fries was ordered medium rare and cooked to medium well with what seemed like no seasoning was on there at all. Crab cake was just ok and the slaw beneath it was drenched in a vinaigrette that was just sour and unpleasant. And the Mac and cheese, as we were very hopeful and looking forward to, was probably the blandest Mac and cheese we ever had. We asked the lady bartender for salt and she handed us, no exaggeration (and you guys will probably think I am) a salt shaker with 10 grains of salt in it and said "looks like there's a lil something you could still get out of there" My jaw dropped. But yeah. The shredded meat on top of the Mac and cheese was cooked beyond the point of edible. That one was unfortunately sent back bc we just couldn't eat it. We were bummed over all mostly about the food.

I'm someone that has been working in the food and beverage industry for years, but it doesn't take that experience to see that the restaurant was clearly full. Our server was tending to every table on the bar side including ours and was attentive and kind. The table next to us was making a scene and acting like our server was supposed to wait on them hand and foot. We were having a great time and decided to ignore them for a while, but eventually we noticed the gentleman from that table get up and follow our server into the kitchen when she was clearly in the middle of something.
