Had a lovely time on Saturday after lunch at the Anaheim Packing District. I had always passed by this place and never went in, even though the outside looked so cool and fascinating. When we entered, the inside felt like we were in the inside of a train, there were various train themed decoration scattered throughout the walls and floors. My girlfriend got the sex in this city cocktail and I opted for the painkiller cocktail. Both were stunning and delicious. Lots of different photo ops for you and your loved ones as well as movies playing behind the bar. I had been looking forward to coming to this bar for a long time, so unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing. We arrived about an hour after opening, and the bar already felt completely unprepared. The bartender was eating food at the bar while we were there, and after getting our initial drinks, we were essentially left on our own. She never checked back with us, and not once were we asked if we wanted another drink. For a place I had been excited to finally visit, this was easily one of the worst bar experiences I've ever had. BXCR Underground is a great bar located on the lower floor in the Anaheim Packing District. You can't miss the big green train by the bottom of the central staircase. We arrived around 6pm on a Sunday evening and we were bummed that it was packed full inside. We decided to go have a drink upstairs, and then come back down later to see if it was any less busy. There must have been one big group who left because 30 minutes later, it was completely empty inside. There are a few wood tables outside of the entrance and several two seat tables along the outside of the side of the train, but for a first visit we definitely wanted to be inside. When you come inside at BXCR, there are two long green couches along each side that wrap around to the entrance to maximize available space. There are two steamer trunks on each side that serve as tables. We were surprised that all of the tables had a Yahtzee game on them, and we had a blast playing that while we enjoyed our drinks. If you happen to roll a Yahtzee, they give you a candle as a prize. There is good background music playing that fits the environment. There is some good décor with overhead baggage racks and international clocks on one wall, and gauges on the wall next to the bar. There are some small rectangular windows along the top of both sides, and some curtained windows on the right side which do let a little light in. When the main entrance door is opened before its dark outside, it does let quite a bit of light in and kills the ambience temporarily. I would recommend coming closer to or after sunset to not let any outside sunlight interfere with your experience. The drinks are made at the bar in the rear where there are several seats and a little standing room. It wasn't on the current menu, but I saw on a previous menu they had an Amaretto Sour so I started with that, and it did not disappoint. It was nice and frothy from an egg white and had Angostura bitters on top. My girlfriend started with the Calm Cruise which was great. It's basically a Pina Colada, but with an additional honeydew flavor in the background. For number two, I tried the C-League cocktail. The smokiness of Mezcal has grown on me lately if it is not the primary flavor, and in this drink it is at a nice level somewhere in the middle. The cucumber and cilantro are definitely present, along with a little heat from the ancho verde and a little sweetness from the Luxardo maraschino. This is a excellent easy-drinking tequila cocktail. Her number two was the Aviation which she enjoyed. Vince was our main bartender along with Sarah. They were very friendly and fun to chit-chat with while they were mixing up our drinks. This is definitely a cool place to check out, and we will definitely return. read more

I've been wanting to come in for so long, but it was always too crowded. Luckily on an early Saturday evening, we found two seats at the bar. We were immediately greeted by the bartender and had our drinks within a few minutes. The Dirty Shirley and Fuego En Jalisco were so incredible that we came back for another round after our show at the Stuffed Potato. The pomegranate added a lovely tart flavor without too much sweet syrup. Prices were moderate at $16 each. Although it's a tiny bar, it felt cozy and intimate. I love a good cocktail lounge so this one was downstairs at the Anaheim Packing District. It was a bit dark inside so it created an intimate setting but still lively. There were a few seats at the bar and seats with small tables surrounded the perimeter of the boxcar. It was also nice that they had tables outside of the boxcar for overflow or for people who didn't want to be inside due to claustrophobia or for whatever reason. The bartender handed me a drink menu and said she'd be right with me. I tried the C-league cocktail which sounded refreshing with mezcal, cucumber, cilantro and other notes. The cocktail definitely hit the Smokey refreshing taste. It wasn't as Smokey which was good because I don't think the flavors would balance out if it was too much. Really cool bar! It's so unique. I've never seen a bar that is a literal train. It's dark and cozy inside. I love the dim lighting and ambiance. It gives off a dark and mysterious feel. It's not very big inside. You walk up to the bar and order some drinks, then sit down somewhere. Only 21 and older can pass the front entrance area. Before going inside, I saw how crowded it was. And debated on whether it would be worth waiting for it to clear out. I'm not a fan of crowded small places- too stuffy. But some people left and I was able to go in. Service was fine. This is the cutest bar. I love the whole concept. The bartenders are all pretty friendly and patient with an indecisive girl like me. This place is probably my favorite example of changing demand. Started wine only with some gimmicks, then added cocktails and most recently early morning soccer/ sports. Now i understand this drastically changes the vibe if they run sports at night, it essentially will stop them the date night traffic, but I don't know what theirs plans are for night time tv use. This is the small little bar we found you can barely see it but the door was open and they had these old cases used as tables to set drinks on loved it. Kind of a dark small cute inviting little bar. The bartenders were super sweet, it was also kind of busy for a Wednesday night which was kind of cool! A group of friends and I made our way to BXCR Underground following a night out at The Blind Rabbit. After a night of cocktails in an intimate setting, we were excited to try another spot at the Anaheim Packing House (APH). BXCR seemed to be the perfect spot for our groups gathering. BXCR is a small and well decorated bar located at the bottom floor of APH. The bar itself is built within the building, leading to a small, cozy, and intimate experience. Their menu is catered perfectly to any cocktail drinker, featuring a mix of their own creations and staple drinks, and their bartenders are simply lovely. We truly enjoyed our experience and the initial service. When we arrived, we attempted to order a round of shots that unfortunately were denied due to the bar owner's, Vince, discretion. We completely understood his refusal, and for our understanding, he poured us a complimentary round of tequila shots. While appreciated and lead to positive conversation, this is where our hospitality ended. Following our first order, we were asked to put a credit card behind the bar to maintain our tab. While not an abnormal situation at any bar, what followed was an extremely bizarre situation. Another member of our party offered to close our tab with her own credit card, and following payment, both cards were handed back to us. When we sought confirmation on whose card was used to close our tab, Vince instructed his fellow bartender to "not offer" confirmation to us. This lead to confusion as to which credit card was used to pay the $180 tab we acquired. As our entire party checked our bank statements, we left confused as to who was charged for the tab, as payment had not yet been approved on our end. I'm uncertain as to why we were treated poorly at the end of what was otherwise a positive experience. I was hopeful to return to BXCR, but without trust in the bars ownership in understanding payment, I feel it's within my best interest to alert others of what may come from their own experience in paying their tab, and furthermore pursue other locations. While solely our responsibility to coordinate payment appropriately, I was disappointed that clarity couldn't be met from the bartenders and owner as to which credit card was charged, and therefore I will not be returning. read more

BXCR is located in the historic Anaheim Packing and is an underground cocktail and wine society, authentically outfitted in 1920's vintage railroad boxcar. Beyond the gimmick of being in a boxcar, the seating is really comfortable and is quiet enough to have a more intimate conversation with your party. Not as rambunctious or busy as the bar upstairs, and easier to get into than Blind Rabbit without having to squint to see anything. In terms of the drinks, the have great and well-made basics with moderate quality spirits. The bartenders are friendly and approachable when you have any questions about the selection they offer. The interior resembles the inside of a train car with a small bar area and a few tables with couches to sit on. Since it's pretty intimate inside, it can get rather loud in there with people conversating and the music. Luckily they also have two tables directly outside and a few high tops on the side of the bar. While there, we were able to squeeze in three rounds of drinks (last call 10pm). I tried two drinks (paper plane and another I can't remember the name of). Both drinks were solid. I enjoyed the paper plane more, though, and got it for my last round of drinks.
