I had scheduled a service with Jake via text message and we had coordinated a drop off time. I live 45mins away but I do drive past Dublin, so it's convenient for me to pick it up on my drive home from work, whenever it was ready. I arrived and unloaded my bike. A young gentlemen at the door told me that jakes closed for the day. I let him know we had made an arrangement, he closed the door, then came back outside to sell me Jake isn't available. I then texted Jake because perhaps there was a miscommunication and he replied back dismaying his availability. "Not available, what about tomorrow or the day after" He didn't respond back after I told him I drove from Tracy to meet this appointment. I didn't even need him to service my bike right away lol I could have left it there as planned but he chose not come outside. I drove 45mins for nothing. This is unprofessional. I would have tipped him very well because his quoted price was less than the bike shops and the only reason I chose him because local bike shops quoted me a 4 week wait minimum and he estimated a week if I recall correctly. Business integrity is important. Had he apologized via text about his unavailability I would have come back the next day or another mutually convenient time. read more

Is there a way to leave a minus star here? I did trust this shop owner and I am so sad that I have to give him a lowest or even a worst recommendation in regards to the service. Too bad that I was a lazy boy who did not want to take my bike to get a decent assembling at the first time. Eventually this guy did charge for un-expected break fluid and then he asked me to pay extra for the bar tape. After one week, he did not follow up with my call and text because I paid extra $20 for the bar tape. After one month, I reached out to him again and he's somehow still lost. He is such a lazy and unresponsive owner. I am seriously upset with this situation and the owner's irresponsibility. I've already reached out to Venmo to make sure that he spends his time for my $20. It sounds silly but I really want him to pay for every single penny that he owes me. read more

Wow. I have no words. Jake is literally the go to bike man, you won't be disappointed in his work and services!!! He's super super fair and reasonable, but I think he deserves a lot more credit for what he does! Super communicative, super reliable, super easy, super fast, super professional, and super great job! Ended up in Dublin on mother's day weekend after a short ride from Oakland. Bike seemed a little off after a long ride from the day before because my chain fell off during a gear change. New to road bikes, was looking for someone who could do a small tune-up under short notice. Other bikeshops in the area were either closed or didn't have availability. Came across Jake's shop and the rest is history. Everything about my experience was so relaxed, I felt like I was hanging with one of my friends. TL;DR, Jake fine tuned everything on my bike and it rides likes a dream now. I'm not a local, but I ride through the area frequently on longer routes. Should anything ever come up during a ride in this area, I know I can hit Jake up and he'd genuinely try to help me out if he was able to. Wouldn't hesitate to come back. I asked Jake if he would sell my bike on consignment and he said yes. After a month of no results, Jake said he could sell the back hub separately more easily than the bike as a whole. I agreed that that would be okay. After several more months of no results, I arraigned to pick up the bike since it seemed like it would never sell. Jake presented me with a pile of parts rather than the fully functioning bike I had left with him. Apparently, he took it apart in preparation to sell the hub before having a buyer. If this is his way of returning a consignment bike, I would not want to deal with him again. read more

Jake is definitely an excellent mechanic, but sadly lacks any integrity & has extremely poor communication skills. I am still waiting for him to pay me for my daughter's bike that he has had in his possession since September of 2020 & has since sold according to him. I received a partial payment on April 21, 2021 & was promised via text message that I would receive another payment on April 27. It is now June 14 & not only have I not received further payment, but have also had zero responses to my numerous messages both directly to him or indirectly to ND posts that he or his business have been mentioned on. Not sure why he has decided to scam me, but he is very dishonest. Please be aware when considering using his services. read more

Jake's service was amazing! I called and asked for an expedited tune up + new tires and he was able to get me in right away. When I arrived, Jake took the time to listen to my needs and what performance I really wanted out of my bike. Since I ride 9 miles a day, with big dogs attached to my bike, I needed some better rear stopping power on gravel trails. Fast forward to the 24 hour turn around I had asked for, and my bike was perfectly tunes, cleaned, new tires, and a new rear brake and derailer system was added. I could not have been happier with Jake's work and his above and beyond customer service.
