Extremely helpful. Took my Santa Cruz mtb in for an issue with the rear derailleur. The mechanic disassembled the whole thing determined what the issue was. Explained our options and put a quote together. Spent almost an hour with us no charge. Top notch.

Trek bought Livermore cyclery. What a shame. Went in wanting to buy a gravel bike and no one wanted to help me. Maybe this place needs to work its kinks but I don't think this place is going to survive. If you have a bike shop you might want to hire a staff that knows about bikes. Good luck. Looking for a way better selection, go to R&A cycles in Walnut Creek. Expensive shop but worth. It.

These guys really earned a 5 star review from me, since I was a pretty difficult customer. They helped me with a bike from another shop, multiple times, and they were always able to fix this previous bike quickly and effectively (they have great mechanics and service). Usually they fixed it while I waited- which is very hard to come by now. When I did need to leave it- it always surprised me how quickly they turned the repairs around. I ended up getting a new bike with them, which was an easy experience. The bike we obviously set up right. What compelled me to write the review today was that I just did my complimentary service appointment (after a few months of riding). They did a top notch tune up and cleaning (bike was filthy). And turned it around within 1 business day. At every step- these guys really went the extra mile. Thank you. -Nick

I'm updating my previous review because Abraham Baiza went above and beyond to make things right…read more During my first two stringing experiences, I unfortunately ran into quality issues, including one racquet that was missing a string. It was definitely frustrating, but Abraham took my concerns seriously from the beginning. He personally reached out, apologized, offered to restring my racquet free of charge, and even provided a gift card for the inconvenience. What impressed me the most was that he didn't just fix my racquet--he worked to improve the process. When I picked it up today, I noticed they now attach a label showing the string type, tension, date, and stringer. That tells me they're focused on preventing mistakes in the future, not just fixing one complaint. Every business can make mistakes, but not every manager takes ownership the way Abraham did. His professionalism, communication, and commitment to improving the customer experience earned my trust back. Thank you, Abraham, and the Sports Basement team. I'll definitely be back for future stringing and would recommend them to other tennis players.

Went to here a few times in the past when I still lived in San Ramon, California. This place is…read moresupposed to be like a Dick's Sporting Goods but with more variety of sports equipment and other related products. As well as better quality since it's like a private owned business and not a public one. The service overall was good at this place as the employees were helpful with guiding us to find stuff we were looking for. As well as helping my brother find a new bike for him to ride after his old one fell apart. When it comes to value that is where the problems set in as to why I am giving this place a 4/5. Lot of the stuff in this store is expensive and I do mean EXPENSIVE. It could be close to like 120 dollars for a pair of shoes which seems to be way more than most other retailers. And most of the other equipment could range up to 200-300 dollars as well which can make it frustrating to figure out what to spend your money on depending on the need. At least the store has plenty of equipment to choose from, as well as a range for you test stuff out and other useful features for equipment you want to rent. But I would only go here as a last resort if you can't go to a Dick's or find good pricing.

Shoutout to Eugene for convincing me to spend my $15k somewhere else. I recently had a bike destroyed in a bike-car accident, so I went to RA planning to buy a helmet and potentially a new bike. When Eugene asked what brought me in, I told him I needed a helmet and was looking at bikes since mine had been destroyed. He laughed and asked if I was planning to just walk around wearing a helmet. After I explained the accident, he apologized. I mentioned I liked the Dogma X and said my budget was around $12-13k (I was realistically open to $15k). His response was: "That's out of your price range. Let's look at something cheaper." When I repeated that I liked the bike, he ignored it and moved on. Then he asked my bike size. I had just been professionally fitted at Innersport and was recommended a 49 frame. When I told him that, he laughed and said, "I'm sorry, but you're not a 49." When I told him I had just been fitted, he responded, "I can't imagine anyone recommending you a 49. I'm not entertaining that you're a 49." I had to pull up my fitting measurements before he reluctantly admitted I could "pass as a 49." The whole interaction was belittling and embarrassing. I've heard people describe the shop as having a "bro" culture that can feel unwelcoming, and that's exactly how this experience felt. In the end, I left without buying anything and instead went to Capdata in Concord, where I ordered a Factor Ostro VAM with SRAM Red, a helmet, and other gear. RA carries beautiful bikes, but if you're looking for respectful service, my experience suggests you may want to shop elsewhere.
