Beyond that they are the most expensive game in town, as soon as you start to question their pricing they basically ignore you and never return a phone call again. They do not like to be shopped against and they figure if you do not buy their "dog and pony show" sales pitch they abort you as a potential customer. They gave me a presentation with pricing in home and refused to send me a copy of their pricing. I knew I was in for a total snow-job when they start dropping "NASA" references in the sales pitch. Three calls to customer service and an email to the sales rep netted not one call back or reply for a copy of their pricing offer. Then their aggressive telemarketers called me back finally for a 'follow-up'. After explaining the situation they assured me that they would forward my request to the sales rep and the sales manager. Weeks later - no follow up. It's not they they do bad work or do not offer a decent product, it's that they gouge you on cost. Ridiculous business practices and it demonstrated their lack of ethics. read more

I am disappointed and frankly appalled. I called Byers Leaf Guard for an estimate on the gutter system for my home in Folsom. When scheduling the estimate, I told the sales rep when I would be available. Before scheduling, he asked me if my "husband" would be home. I told him I purchased the home and asked him why he would even ask that question. He paused.. and then replied "because it is a complex and new system and we have found it helpful when explaining it when both (husband) are there" Really.. .REALLY?! At that point I explained to the sales rep that he had just lost a sale. There are too many reputable companies that aren't still living in the 1950s! read more

We came across this gutter system at Costco and also at a home and garden show, their demonstration at the show was impressive, the wider downspouts and the lifetime warranty was something that really stood out. We got a in-home demonstration and quote. After the guy measured the amount of gutters and downspouts we needed, he came up with a verbal quote. $8900 for the Leaf Guard and $5700 for the regular gutters (184 ft - 1400 sq ft home ) We were shocked!!! the other quotes were much lower... we have had quotes for regular seamless gutter in the range of $1800-2500. We asked for a breakdown and he just told us that he did not have a breakdown and said "we are done here then?". No negotiations, no sales pitch, no reasons for why the price is so much higher... Just a simple "we are done here then?".. wow.. I am not against paying more for quality and a good company backing up their workmanship, I think that is worth a lot but 2-3x more is ridiculous. Byers, you need better competitive pricing structure, and better trained field presentation staff. read more

First of all I will describe my situation. My home is in the middle of the forest. It is directly under a huge sugar pine (150' +) and surrounded by douglas firs, oak, and ponderosa pines. Although it is a single story home (very long width), the elevation is such that the roof on one end of the home is 25 feet off the ground. For 3 years I had to climb on the roof and clear the rain drains of leaves, limbs, and the pine pollen which clogged up the drains several times during the winter rains. It was not fun on a ladder in freezing cold and rain to do this job, not to mention the inherent danger. I tried installing metal protecters I purchased from Home Depot, but they just did not work and made cleaning even more difficult. I finally saw the Leaf Guard system at Costco and the demo was enough to give them a try. It was not cheap and the cost was over $7000, but measured against the chance of falling off the roof and working in the pouring rain I thought it was well worth it. They came out and did the measurement and estimate and several weeks later the crew came out and did the installation. The shaping and cutting of the gutters from the truck was an interesting process. They crew installed the gutters and I was impressed by their work. I waited for 1 1/2 years to write this review since I wanted to see if they really worked. Believe me they really do work! I have climbed on a ladder several times to see how much debris was in the gutter. It has been completely empty every time. I can safely say the $7000 spent was one of the best investments I have every made. read more

They just left my house, but to describe why I think they deserve 5 stars and even more is below in the letter I wrote the president of the company to go with the survey they give you to send him. Letter: Your survey does not give enough room to describe what I wanted! There, that is the one thing I would improve on. It just doesn't do justice for your crews that came out. I wanted to really let you know how great your crews that came out were. Not just the install crew, but the cut and drop crew, and your office crew. I met your sales rep at the Sacramento Home and Garden Show. My husband and I didn't think you would travel to Napa, and were delighted when he said you would. We have two large walnut trees along our house, and the squirrels are awful with hiding their nuts in the downspouts, etc. Your product was one that we felt would work. We did online research before a rep, Leland I think his name was, came to our home, and we were already excited to have your product on our home. Susan played phone tag with me for a while due to my work hours, but we were finally able to get in touch and schedule the cut and drop. I honestly didn't know what to expect. I have worked many construction crews with my father growing up, and am usually more than disappointed with crews that come out nowadays. Your cut and drop crew was on time, and were more than accommodating on placing the product for the install crew. I was overjoyed to see that they were these clean cut respectful men. There was no hassle at all. The product wasn't just tossed on the ground either, it had scrap pieces under and around so that the gutters wouldn't get scratched and damaged. When your install crew arrived, on time, I was still a little hesitant with who I would be dealing with. Jason and Zeth were just as respectful and clean cut as the cut and drop crew. It was pouring rain, and high winds, but they carried on and got the job done. I felt so bad that they were out in the storm doing this as I sat in my nice warm home, but they didn't seem fazed by it. On the final walk thru, Jason described to me the slop of the gutters, what the smaller pieces were in place for (our house roof is a puzzle piece itself!). Both of them went above and beyond any expectations I could ask for. Thank you for hiring such wonderful people to work for your company, and thank you for the wonderful product that is on my house! After having new wide plank vinyl installed where we once had off white berber carpeting, we realized our great room seemed considerably darker so we decided to explore a solar type tube. We had gone to the Auburn Home Show and there we met a couple of different installers, one being Byers. The salesperson at Byers answered all of our questions to our satisfaction but the other company had two young guys at their booth and they were really 'sketchy' on our questions, especially the price. We decided to give Byers a call and I spoke with Amy who was very friendly and professional. We arranged an appointment and met with Andy a few days later. LOVED their price and set up a time but then it rained so we had to reschedule. Not only did we receive a call from Amy confirming the date and time but also Andy just before arriving. Andy was very careful to put down a protective cloth in both the area where the tube would go and also in the closet where the crawl space was located. The entire installation was completed in less than three hours and Andy did a great job even though he ran into a couple of issues in the attic area. WOW! what a lot of light this sun tunnel allows in our great room and we love it! We keep going over to the light switch forgetting that the lights aren't on. Great Job Byer's Team. read more

These folks are really on it with providing options and finding solutions to your needs. I have the gutter system on the house and recently added a solar system. They've learned my patterns with the gutters and even proactively contacted me this season to come check on them before I could call in to have them serviced. We had solar put on by Byers after getting bids from 3 different companies. The cost was comparable to the other two and mostly won out due to the thoroughness of the sales person. The install crew was friendly, courteous and professional. They ended up completing the install faster than anticipated and we are waiting for the final go from PGE. As a bonus we were offered a solar tube install which we decided to put in the kitchen. I wish I had a before picture, but I haven't been this impressed with a product in years. It has completed changed the need to turn on a light in the kitchen from 9-5 pm. If I walk into the kitchen now I keep looking to turn off the light, but its just the solar tube. I called 4 separate times on four separate days before talking with someone. Explain I needed a quote to fix and or replace the section damaged. Was told she would talk to their contractor division and email me the quote. 12 days later still have nothing. Called again and asked to speak to anyone in the department only to get voicemail, explain how unhappy we are and to please call back. NOTHING! We need a new roof but will not use them! Our house was built in the early 1980s but we moved here about 12 years ago. One day, about two years ago, I noticed some pine needles sticking out of the gutter. I found the name, Byers' on one end of the gutter and called them. They came and cleaned the gutter for free! They've also cleared the gutters for free again recently when I called them. Needed a whole house fan. I saw their booth at the state fair, liked the information the lady provided, so I called to make arrangements to have one installed. The gentleman on the phone was very polite, informative and professional. Later, when I called to see if they could move up the install date, the gal I spoke with was very helpful. Today, a young man (David S.) came to do the installation. He was outstanding. In less than two hours the fan was in, and the work area cleaned up. So far, the customer service has been superior. I have not worked with a less honorable company than Byers'. The installers were rude. The warranty service a complete runaround. I wrote Mr. Byers' a personal letter after several useless phone calls to the company. To his credit he called me directly, BUT, even after he stated "shame on us (Byers')" the issues were NOT resolved. The #2 at the company has even tried to void the warranty. I have worked with many contractors on my house, but Byers' has been the worst. This review is in the context of the LeafGuard system which I purchased through their link with COSTCO. I have no experience with their solar business. In reviewing the LeafGuard system it self. I offer this issue: The gap where water enters the gutter is narrow. This provides exactly the environment bees and wasps love to build nests in. But you better not use any repellents because Byers' can use that to void your warranty, like they did for the leak in my pool solar system. By the way I also had a wasp nest in the Byers' gutter just above my front door. read more

Byers was highly recommended to us by two of our neighbors. We have a tall house with 3 levels of roofing. Our gutter system was often overwhelmed by the sheer volume of water traversing from the top roof through the gutter systems to the lower roof. We got quotes from a few gutter companies and although Byers was on the higher end of the quotes, we felt their product was worth the premium. The gutters and downspouts took 4 full days to install. James and other installers worked quickly but did not cut corners. They even did touch-up painting to match the downspout transitions to the house trim color. The end product was a very nice looking gutter system that complimented our roofline. As luck would have it, we had an unexpected 2 day rain storm 3 days after installation was completed. We found we had a couple areas of water overshooting the gutters. We notified Byers and they scheduled James to come out and correct those areas. They came out 2 weeks later. We were in no hurry to have the modifications made, so this worked well for us. The gutter system has been installed for 6 months and is performing as expected. The larger downspouts are easily handling all the water coming off our roof. I would recommend Byers gutter system to anyone looking for quality gutters and professional installation. read more

We came across Byers at their booth at the Nevada County Fair this year and decided to schedule a free in home consultation for a whole house fan. The installation technician Andy Vandiver showed up on time and was full of knowledge and advice. When we told him we were going to go ahead with scheduling an install, we were happily surprised that he had everything with him and could do the install same day! Andy explained everything to us, how the fan is installed, showed the grate to us and where it would be placed on the ceiling, showed us how to take it apart for cleaning etc...He had the install done within a few hours, maybe even a little less. This was our first experience with Byers, and we are very impressed! Andy was very professional, friendly and full of knowledge of Byers products. We are know considering gutters. Their gutters are wonderful, they look good and they work well, most of the time. However, these gutters are guaranteed not to clog and if they ever do, Byers is supposed to come out and clean them at no charge. I called back on February 7th to request that they clean my gutters as the water is running out the side instead of down the down spout. Today is March 10th and I am still waiting. This winter we have had numerous storms come through and the water is ruining the side of the house because Byers won't honor their guarantee. I called them back today and I was told that they would come out when they get around to it. As I indicated the gutters are great, when they are clean and work properly, but Byers won't honor their guarantee. read more

Great product, very nice salesman, but extremely expensive. Cost is the reason for the four stars. I have no doubt that they will do exactly what they say. For those reviews with clogged gutters - they will come clean them for free - for life. I really wish I could justify the cost, but it is way out of the ballpark unreasonably expensive - and I am a big fan of pay once and do it right the first time! I have two straight 50' runs of gutter needed and the discounted price for paying in full in lieu of financing is a little under $5,800! Whew!! That's over $56 per foot! I would love to have these gutters, but I can do a lot with the extra $4k+. Seems like a great company, and it is definitely the product I would choose if I won the lottery and didn't care about the value of money. read more

We had installed in our hall bath because there isn't any Windows and it sure is nice to have natural light in there and also saves electricity by not turning on the light. Byers installed three solar tubes in my townhome. The results are stunning! I have light everywhere now, and I love it! Kent and Andy were punctual and professional, explaining each step to me and showing me the various options for filters and diffusers to get the right kind of light into each room. They even put a tunnel from my second story roof down through the subfloor and into the ceiling of the first floor to get light below a second story. And they cleaned up every little mess they made. I had Bill Hunting come out to my house to give me a quote for new gutters. He spent 30 minutes telling me what he felt should be done and looking all around my house to get a good look and measurement of the gutters. He wanted to have a Zoom conference to sell it to me. I asked if he could just talk to me on the phone and then tell me the quote. He said, "That's not how we do it around here." Okay, I called the manager, Lance, to ask for the quote. He sent me insurance papers. I'm guessing the price is way over inflated, and no one wants to tell me without a hard-sell approach. Not buying the snow job guys. The first thing that was very off-putting to me about Byers is that when I called to get a quote the lady on the phone insisted that my wife come to the meeting with the estimator. I told her that was an odd request and probably wouldn't be possible and she tried to make me feel guilty by telling me about how the estimator was going to make a super special trip out to see me and there was NO WAY he could talk to me without my wife there. I should probably have just thanked her for her time and ended the call right there. Weeks later when the estimator finally came out he started by handing us a cherry-picked list of references and insisted that I call them right there on the spot. He then got out his laptop and showed us a bizarre slideshow of pictures of his family and the family of the owners of Byers. I felt like he was putting on some kind of sales pitch worthy of a vacation timeshare or a used car when all I wanted was for him to measure my house and give me a number for the cost of the job. Speaking of cost, we ended up getting 3 quotes for seamless gutters with gutter guards from 3 different companies. We have a very small 2-bedroom house (1 story), and the quotes we got back were $1,200, $1,800, and $7,000. The quote for $7,000 was from Byers. The estimators from the other two gutter companies managed to give me their quotes and describe their products to me without showing me pictures of their families or demanding to meet my wife. Byers does offer some cool stuff like lifetime cleaning/repair, but for the price they charge we could have our non-Byers seamless gutters w/guards COMPLETELY REPLACED at least 4 times and still spend less money than going with Byers. read more

So I had the gutters installed 4 years ago. They clog every year, so I call to have them come "warranty" clean them. It takes over a month every time. So this year they did a preemptive offer to come out and clean them. No one ever turned up in the past 6 weeks and now with all the rain they are overflowing again and blocked. Update. Byers rep called and was not happy about not getting a positive review. He sent (after a week plus and after a review) a written quote. It was so brief I can not really see what is provided. If I had bought at the minute he was here it would have been $47.43 dollars per foot. If I buy now I believe it would be $55.34 per foot installed. Only about 500% higher then competitors (although not with leaf guard system). Edgar did anger me as he made false statements but did admit that if a customer does not buy on the spot he does not expect them to buy so he had no interest in them (me this time). He lied stating there was no internet connection and we have awesome business quality internet so that was his false excuse why he provided nothing. He left a message saying he would provide management contacts but when I wanted them during our phone call the call disconnected. BUYERS BEWARE. A Byer's rep came by without a clear appointment. He called stating he was in the area and could stop by to give price. We offered him our house plans to help as it was raining. He declined and was out side quite a while. The presentation was OK but focused upon showing others gutters and his. I asked for detailed quote and he said he would e mail it. I asked for literature he said he would send some as he had none with him. Nothing has ever come and their web site does not have anyway to contact them. Beware. Very, very expensive and very evasive. No written quotes, No literature and zero follow up. We never buy at first contact and this is a churn and burn operation. If you don't buy immediately they burn your contact. Beware. The product may or may not be good but the operation seems too slick to be above board. It amazes me that they can manage the internet to avoid their negatives. Maybe I just had an unusual experience. Buyer beware is always reasonable. read more

Damien and Jason just left after removing debris from my drains due to excessive storm buildup. Two really nice, professional guys! I've had Byer's Leafguard Gutters for years and this is the first time they have clogged at all. I am totally happy with this product and the excellent staff behind the product. When I called to say I had a slight problem, the phone was answered promptly and I was given a service date right away. This morning the service technicians called that they were on their way and they arrived within 20 minutes. Got the job done quickly and they're gone. AND AS THEY PROMISE, NO CHARGE! We bought a home that came with the leaf guard type gutters, installed about 10 years ago. One section was sagging so we called them for a quote to repair this section. They sent the estimator out (right on time) and when he noted the type of gutter we had he called the office. He came back and said that these gutters and the installation were guaranteed for life ! Repairs were no charge! I didn't know. He could have quoted me a price for repairs and I would have paid. REAL HONEST! read more

I am sorry but you are mistaken about the installation. We purchased the house 4 years ago and it had no functioning gutters on it. We installed Byers LeafGuard thru Costco and your company did the installation. I cancelled your cleaning service twice because it they were both last minute calls when I wasn't at the vacation home. The house had been winterized both times due to possible snow and having to turn on the water would dewinterize the toilets. I welcome your service to fix the clog when either the weather warms up or I am available at the house. I hope this clears up any misconceptions. read more
