This has become one of my favorite spots in the keys! It's is a hidden gem. It was one of the nicer places I have been to in the keys. Great ambiance. They have a large selection of wine. On our first night in Florida, my family chose this place, C&C's Wood Fired Eats, for dinner. We're glad we did! Brick oven pizza is the best pizza, hands down. They also cook bread, and some of their appetizers in the brick oven. Everything on the menu is made in the kitchen using only fine ingredients. I wouldn't try the pepperoni chips. They are not like chips at all. They're just pepperoni slices that have been seasoned. You're better off just ordering a pepperoni pizza. The staff are kind and clearly love working here. The interior is different from the outside. C&C's gave us like an underground tavern-in-Italy kind of vibe. Although, I detested their questionable "art décor". Most of them are pretty proactive! They serve great salads, my friend ordered their Caesar Salad, she said it was the best Caesar Salad ever, because there are no fish ingredients in the dressing. For those of you who love alcohol, (not me) yes, C&C's has a bar and wine selection. Our pizzas arrived fast! They were piping hot and I just loved C&C's unique pizza combinations. Both pizzas seemed like they were missing a little bit of acid/sauce/drizzle on top to really put them over the top. The service here was some of the worse I've ever experienced. It was my birthday and I decided to come here because of the high ratings and the food did look good. First of all, we arrived and were greeted by the hostess who informed us she had a table available, we would just have to wait a moment until the table was cleaned. Another lady approached us and asked if we minded if it was a 4 top with an extra seat. We were fine with it. We stood in the middle of the restaurant awaiting to be seated for about 10 minutes when finally my daughter asked again if the table was available. The hostess seated us without menus at a table in the corner. We ordered 2 appetizers to start and drinks. After a few minutes the server came back to take dinner orders and we were told that they were out of an ingredient on one of their custom pizzas. We asked if that missing key ingredient, mushrooms on "mushroom truffle" pizza could be replaced with something else. He was firm on his no, so we told him to go ahead and get my kids pizza in and we would find an alternative choice. Several minutes later he brought out my kids pizza, so I questioned if the appetizers were coming out. His reply was, "one is coming out but with all the back and forth, I thought you wanted the one pizza out immediately". NO apologies at all on the misunderstanding. He should have gotten clarification and not acted like it was our fault. I clearly ordered the appetizers before I ordered anything else. The "back and forth" was because they were at fault for not having a key ingredient on one of their pizzas and not making it right by slightly discounting the price of that pizza or offering a replacement ingredient. The server as well as the manager were clearly unapologetic or sympathetic about anything. I had given him a cake we brought in for my birthday to put in the fridge for after, but because of his lack of customer service, and making me feel bad, we didn't even bother asking for it back and left. We visit this area often and have friends who live in close proximity, but I'll be sure to advise them not to come here because of their strict ridiculous policies and unfriendliness. I'm a pretty patient and understanding person. I don't give many low rated reviews unless I feel strongly about service and unfairly being treated. Growing up in NJ, it's natural for us to be pizza snobs and the best pizza for us, at least what we thought, was always thin crust NY-style. And as anyone from that region will affirm, it is nigh impossible to find a quality representation of the classic NY pie outside of that epicenter. "They" say it's all about the water when it comes to bread, pizza and bagels, and "they" would be right, which is why it's so difficult. So what do you do outside that geography? Just go with it and hope for the best? No. You go old school. You go back to the beginning. You go back to where pizza was born. You make authentic Neapolitan, wood/coal-fired pizzas and that's exactly what C&C is doing. After having our first Neapolitan a decade ago, it was transformational in nature. It tore down our belief in what we believed pizza could be and rebuilt it to what pizza should be. Yet, even 10 years ago, finding a place that specialized in Neapolitan pizza was a rarity even in NJ, let alone Florida. We eventually spent 4 years in the "pizza desert" that is Central Florida before moving further south to Miami which shockingly has a number of Neapolitan options. Some are relegated to mediocrity, while a scant few just hit home run after home run. After trying C&C Wood Fire Eats in Key Largo, we can say they are definitively part of that latter group, just hitting bombs out of the park because they found the "secret" and execute on that time and time again. What's the secret? Quality, authentic ingredients, expert preparation and a 900 degree oven. The menu is fairly big for a pizza joint, which odes to their overall mission and vibe they are going for. We saw so many different things we wanted to try, but we decided to go with "The 1889" which is the traditional Pizza Margherita taking its name from the year it was believed to have been created, and it didn't disappoint. In fact, it has to be in the Top 2 pies we've had. The crust was flavorful enough to stand on its own, but not so much that took away from the toppings. The char from the scant amount of time it spent in that 900 degree oven was exactly what you would expect. The fresh San Marzano tomato, fresh mozzarella and basil completes the classic flavor profile of the Margherita. They have 15 "Fave" pies that are non-negotiable on toppings with no substitutions for a reason, plus the ability to build your own with a range of topping options including gluten free and vegan. And it's not just the pizza, their entire menu is stellar from the unique appetizers like amazing meatballs and ricotta that impart a hint of smokiness to the roasted baby artichoke hearts where the flavor of the choke heart is front and center and a bunch of salads, cheese boards, and even snacks like cheese curds and pepperoni chips. It's a beer and wine place (no liquor license, but don't let that stop you as they have a list of wine and beer cocktails) and the wine and brew list is definitely impressive for its size, including their own C&C Brew which is a superb lager along with other Florida-local brews and a selection of mass-produced domestics and imports. There is even a small bar setting if you are a single or simply don't feel like sitting at a table. They have daily Happy Hour from 4-6pm with options like a Pizza and a Pitcher of Beer for $10 or Pizza and a Carafe of Wine for $15. There is no outdoor seating, but the interior is cozy and reminds us of some of the "industrial" vibe places when we lived in NJ with the exposed brick wall and duct work, but you also immediately get the Florida Keys-vibe with the pine ceilings. Also depending on your seat and view, you can get an opportunity to gaze in amazement at the 900 degree oven and watch the glorious transformations occur before your eyes. Due to the wood oven being the only cooking source and right there for everyone to see, the A/C is purposely on high, so it can be chilly for some. Advise a light sweater for those with a constant lower body temperature like my wife. Parking can be a bit tricky with only a couple of spots out front with a few more in the rear, but it's worth it if you can find something. Last, but certainly not least, the service is impeccable. The entire front of house team is there to pitch in and help out so no table is left to feel neglected. Our hats off the Cole who took amazing care of us and welcomed us as if we had been regulars, even though it was our first time. So whether you are a long-time local or just traveling in the Upper Keys, if you are craving an amazing pizza and more, head to C&C Wood Fire Eats at mile marker 99.2 on the northbound/ocean-side of US 1 in Key Largo. Definitely the best Pizza in the Keys and one of the very best we've had in the US. Grazi! read more

We went to eat close to 8 pm on a Saturday. No seats and 30 min wait. There were 3 seats at the bar and we took them. I ordered the rocket salad and the Zaza pizza and roasted peppers. I had a glass of beer on tap. My friends started with potato boats with cheese curds and some kind if meat. They had the Cesar salad and carne pizza. My friend's husband had two beers served in cans. Bartender was hilarious and servir was pretty good! Very small, and playing loud music and have to talk loud. But it was a good experience. read more

We have been here a few times over the past snowbird seasons. Food and service has been exceptional as usual.

First off, we love wood fired pizza and thin crust, this places delivers and then some. It is one of those places you wished you lived close to, everything about it suberb. The greeting at the door, the wait staff, the drinks, and the of course the pizza. We also split a salad that was fresh, and delicious. I would love to pick this place up and set it up in my home town, it would be a success any and everywhere. One suggestion, not a complaint, please leave the pizza in the oven for a little crispier bottom and some more char on the crust. It's one of the best pizza places we've been in, outstanding. Started out the evening ordering a drink and a water with a wedge of lemon, please. I was told without question under no uncertain terms the restaurant refuses to serve water with lemon. It's their choice and did I want to order anything else. I didn't, I don't want the extra calories of sugar drinks so I asked for just the water with no lemon. And cancelled my drink order at the same time. You don't get rewarded for punishing me. The pizza came and was floppy. Had too much cheese and I'm normally a crust kinda gal, but this had no flavor. So go for the drinks, but don't expect much from the food. And never expect a lemon with your water. You won't get it. Italy, where lemons are revered, would not serve even the smallest piece of one to me. Again, their conscious choice. I visited C & C because I read on their website about the $10 pizza and beer pitcher during happy hour. What's not to like? There's also a $15 with a carafe of wine version. But when arrived, I discovered there's more to the story. I liken their promotion to that of an internet service provider offering high speed internet for $20/mo only to find out any decent plan will cost you at least double when you know all the facts. That's annoying and a little bit of a bait and switch. I asked the bartender what beer options were available, but she didn't single out beers for that promotion. Funny thing is, she did show me which wines were available for the promotion. I said I was there for the promotion but later she said I never said that and that I didn't "ask the right questions". That's kind of your job, though, to explain the promotions, isn't it? I ended up being charged extra for the beer I selected. But this is the inherent problem -- the bartenders & servers don't want you to spend as little as possible and will encourage you to increase your bill. As we've learned the last few years throughout the pandemic, most people don't say anything and merely follow along. Most will not say anything when they receive a bill and get a $5 upcharge for the beer they thought was included in the promotion but I did because that's how I roll. And I try to do so politely, at least at first. But boy did this turn into an ugly argument with the guy next to me feeling the need to impolitely interject into my conversation with the bartender. This is the deal -- if it's $10 for pizza and beer -- put an asterisk (*) next to pizza and somewhere write *cheese only, additional toppings extra. If it's only ONE type of beer, use two asterisks (**) and write somewhere ** fizzy yellow boring Lager only. What this does is manage customer expectations and not tick them off when they arrive and feel like they're dealing with a slimy internet service provider and being upcharged for everything. And your manager sucks. He should have immediately offered to remove the upcharge for the beer rather than the bartender and me bickering back and forth and then allowing another customer to chime in which escalated the situation even further. Again, your employees and customers have opposing goals -- you have to keep that in mind and urge staff to be crystal clear when there's a happy hour or special promotion so as to avoid the $hit show this turned into. And let me be clear, the pitcher was still half full when the bartender huffed and puffed and yanked it and the glass from the bar in front of me because she was so angry. This means I had about two beers at 5.1% ABV while eating 2/3 of the pizza. I'm 5'6" and about 145 lbs so I was not inebriated as any response may attempt to suggest. By the way, after I was asked to leave, a man approached me at my vehicle who had left behind me. He was sitting at the end of the bar alone while I was inside. He didn't speak English well (but I speak Spanish) and told me "tenias razon" -- "you were right". He also said it was very confusing. He apologized and said they were wrong and they shouldn't have done that. So there, proof positive customers generally don't say anything but grumble to themselves afterwards and may or may not return as a result. It wasn't a bad deal even with the upcharge, but I'm about principle and being forthright and a promotion where literally 1 out of 100 will be inclined to follow it to the letter is just an annoying ploy to drive business and potentially alienate customers. Please credit me back the upcharge or I'll ask my credit card company to do it. EDIT after message from owner: I received a private message from owner(s) that came across as pretty aggressive. They wanted to have "an adult conversation" while simultaneously insulting me by calling my behavior "belligerent". Based on previous responses here on Yelp, it seems to be the MO to attack the customer as opposed to de-escalation and resolution of a bad experience. Here's a part of the response -- "If you feel that we were in the wrong in any way, we are in this business to make money on hidden fees as you state". I don't understand the first part, but I'm glad they do admit their tactics are to rack up their customers' tabs using unscrupulous methods. read more
