Got a Super Maxi The patties definitely did not look like 4 oz each and they smashed them (smash burgers are very popular) They ended up being maybe a 16th of an inch thick and they now use standard buns and at that thin it should have covered the whole bun, and it did not! This place appears clean and staff is friendly with a warm greeting when you walk in. We ordered a maxi burger with fries, and a Patty melt with bacon and fries. As we were waiting you could hear the banter back and forth in the kitchen no biggie... the lady at the counter called out the maxi burger and fries then says to the cook is there bacon on the patty melt. We sat there with half our order one of us eating no point in the food getting cold about 5 minutes later the patty melt was up. I get my food sat down and took my first bit the patty melt was super greasy like super greasy almost if it came out of the deep fryer. I took two bites and sat it to the side completely inedible. I moved on to the fries they were beyond salty I tried to smother them in fire sauce and ketchup... epic fail. Small burger dive off the main downtown that is definitely worth it. Strawberry shake was thick and rich and burgers were delish and made to order. Pro tip: onion rings are the best side, and tots a close second. I had the smaller 1/8 pound burger and that was more than sufficient. Fresh tomatoes and delish dill pickles. Companions ate a patty melt they raved about, a side of the chili, and a mushroom and Swiss burger. We ate outside at the picnic table covered by umbrellas although there is an inside section too. Found on Yelp while passing through on a family road trip. It's a bit rustic, but in an old school 70's/80's style burger shack kind of way. A few inside tables, but we chose to eat at one of the outside picnic benches. The kid and I both had patty melts with fries and my wife had grilled cheese and onion rings. Add three large sodas and we still got out for about $34. Try that at a chain and you will definitely spend more for much less quality. read more

C&D Burger used to be quite good, but in recent years it has gone sharply downhill in food quality. This correlated directly with covid and a death in the owner's family, as well as the shop switching from Coca-Cola products to Pepsi products despite Coca-Cola's superior nature. For reasons I can't quite put to words, the food here just isn't very good anymore. Consequently, the price has only gone up. In a competitive industry like food service, the quality can go down or the price can go up, but you can't have your cake and eat it too. The milkshakes are still good, but the burger and fries are overpriced and under performing. Dagwood's is just down the road, go there instead. read more

On this occasion, I ordered my dachshund a pup patty which was much needed fuel on a trip to Crater Lake. I had a fantastic bacon burger the large fry was more than enough for my wife and I. Topped that off with a great-tasting fountain Pepsi and we were soon on our way. We were looking for a place to stop off for lunch on our way from Bend, OR back to Northern CA. This place is a quick detour off the 97 and if you're feeling local, old school burger join...this will work! Talk about a big menu, this place has it all. The menu starts with four sizes of burger - mini, midi (1/8lb), maxi (1/4lb) and super maxi (1/2lb) is where it starts. If you're feeling fancy, you can add a farm fresh egg to anything for $1.00, also bacon, jalapeno or sauteed mushrooms come at a decent price. I don't have the space to list the extensive menu items, so take a look at my photos of the four boards full of menu items, including things like: chili dogs, patty melts, BLT's, burritos, veggie burgers, corn dogs, grilled cheese, and the list just keeps going. Their kids menu is super affordable ($2.50-3.75) and looks like they have some pretty impressive shakes as well (we were stuffed, so didn't try them this time). Most people I saw took their food to go, as there are only three small tables inside. Service was super fast, and the whole staff really nice. TIP: They make their ranch and tarter sauce in house, YUMMY! Get the tots! They were crispy and delicious and they'll throw you two sauces for free! read more

We stopped here on our way to Bend because of the high reviews. After a 35 minute wait for our food, we were not sure why this place is rated so high. A couple bites into my burger it hit me that it tasted exactly like a Whopper from Burger King -- thin bland meat patty, condiments dumped in one location on the bottom bun, cheese adhered to the top bun. I stopped in for lunch today. I went there after getting a recommendation by a local woman at the Union 76 gas station up the hill on Hwy 97. (I only asked her because she was so very friendly). For some reason I decided to follow her recommendation. I followed her directions and drove towards the C&D (passing a hot dog restaurant!) . I drove a bit further to the C&D. The C&D is a small restaurant with about 4 tables inside and several picnic tables outside. I went in and ordered. What do you get? A fantastic cheese burger, coke and thin cut fries for around $9 as a special. The burger was great as were the fries. I really liked the old fashioned character of the restaurant and its quirkiness.
