We've been working with this crew once or twice a week for months & are SO grateful for their help. Paris is the foreman. He insists each item be wrapped & packed correctly. He's kind & fair to his crew, especially when training younger crew. Quotes for hourly work are very fair. The crew works until the job is done - even when it's freezing cold or blistering hot. Paris & his crew are also extremely honest. One found a bank envelope (with a couple hundred dollars in it) on the garage floor. At the time, I was surrounded by broken furniture & smashed boxes in a rain storm. It would have been easy for that crew member to pocket the cash without anyone noticing. Instead, he handed it in to Paris, who gave it to me. These are good people! If you need some handyman work done, this crew is up for it. Don't expect union-trained specialty construction guys! But they'll happily install that door handle or retractable dog gate. One of their crew usually has the tools needed (nail gun, power saw, etc.) for small construction fixes. Just let Paris know what you need done in advance. Highly recommended!!

They were flexible with us as we had to reschedule due to weather, and had several complicated moves that were handled very well. As with any move, we took care ourselves to wrap things, communicate our needs and expectations, but I would do that with any mover. Ask questions, clarify and explain what you want. All furniture was wrapped carefully with moving blankets and secured and all breakables were treated with care. I've never seen a team of people work so hard!

But then after putting in our claim on damages with ample proof of damages, and also our honest review, my wife received a call from one of the movers asking us to take down the poor review because they would get in trouble with the owners. Now I'm wondering goes on behind the scenes because the good reviews seems much more shady now. How many other reviews got asked to be taken down? They got the move done and did it relatively quick given the difficulty. The price was rather high given the quality of work completed. And given how quick they were to request us to take a poor review down to me deserves an even poorer review. Honestly, if they had taken accountability right away to the damages I would have felt better about a simple 3 star review. I can't in good conscience recommend Zip Moving and Storage.

Could I have avoided the stressful outcome I endured by just asking them upfront if they would move all of my boxes? If they would stay on the job until it was finished? It may sound silly to ask this of a moving company, but read on. I'll start by saying that the three men who handled my move were mostly professional and careful for the eleven or so hours that they worked. Also, I significantly underestimated the number of boxes I had to move. Serena was very helpful when I initially contacted the company. I provided an inventory of my belongings and some photographs and she worked out a quote that was agreeable. On moving day, her team showed up on time. They were all personable and receptive to my requests. By early afternoon, the moving van was filled up ... but there were still about a hundred boxes in the old house. Suppose the new house didn't have enough room for everything? I asked if they could help me take the remaining items to a storage facility. They pointed out that by the time the van was unloaded, regular offices hours at those facilities would be over. The new house was about a 20 minute drive from the old house. I left in my car and the movers left in their van at around the same time. I arrived at the new house expecting them to be right behind me. For quite a while, they didn't show. I tried calling them but they didn't answer. After about 45 minutes, they arrived. They took a break for lunch. That's fine. Why didn't they just tell me? I labelled each of my boxes with the name of the room where I wanted it to go. For the most part the movers put the boxes in the correct rooms. However, the next morning I could not locate my toothbrush, razor, and a number of other items so I had to purchase replacements. They also dented a wall when moving the couch. They compensated for this by deducting a credit from my total bill. Sometime between 7:30 and 8:00 pm, the men had finished unloading the moving van. The boxes were distributed fairly evenly throughout the house and there was still free space remaining in each room. The team leader started preparing my bill, so I thought they were done for the day. I settled the bill and anxiously tried to figure out how I was going to get the rest of my boxes moved. Was I going to call another moving company? Rent a cargo van? Over the next week and a half, I made ten trips, usually after work, from my old house to the new one, squeezing as many boxes as I could into my little sedan. I finally got the last of the boxes moved. Not fun for an old guy with a bad back. The entire episode left me exhausted and wondering if somehow things could have been handled better. A few days after completing the second stage of my move (and nearly two weeks after the first stage) I received a voice mail message from Serena. She wanted to know how things went. She already knew there had been an issue with me having too many boxes for one trip because one of the movers had called the office on the day of the move to advise her. In her message Serena said that the office was currently closed for a holiday but that I could call her on her dedicated line. Unfortunately, she didn't realize that her line had been switched off for the holiday and was not accepting messages. A day or two later we did manage to connect. Serena was careful to ask me just a few general questions so as to avoid suggesting that anything had been handled improperly. At the same time, she wanted to know what had happened and what options, if any, I was given. I eventually told Serena that none of the movers offered to make a second trip to collect the rest of my boxes and I believed that was because they did not work after 8:00 or 9:00 pm. Serena assured me that sometimes they worked past midnight. They keep working until the job was done. Except in my case. She also agreed that the three men could have moved the last set of boxes within 90 to 120 minutes. Serena told me she would discuss the matter with the movers and get back to me. But I never heard back from her. I still don't know what to make of this entire affair. I work in customer service and I use all of my resources to ensure the all of my clients' needs are fulfilled. That's what they depend on my for. Of course, if I knew there was an option of making one more relatively short trip to complete the job, I would have gladly taken it. The company would have gotten more money, the movers would have received larger tips, and I wouldn't have faced the ordeal of moving a hundred boxes a dozen at a time by myself. Ouch!

This was the most communicative moving service I've had-Dani and I discussed in depth the amount of belongings that needed to be moved and what factors would bump up the price. We discussed my budget and he adjusted the move's focus so that the final bill was right where I needed it to be. I have never had another mover be so flexible and conscientious about cost. They even went above and beyond in disposing of an old piece of furniture that we ran out of room to store. I have also had past moves with them that were very short notice and small. They were the most reasonably priced moving company for small moves by far. I would absolutely move with them again.

I also appreciated how they triaged the types of furniture and loaded so many things onto multiple dollies in order to take it all down the elevator in as few trips as possible. From a pandemic perspective, they wore masks during the move, and I didn't feel any concerns. When I had to sign final paperwork at my old place, they headed to the new place and informed the concierge of our arrival to get the loading dock ready--now that's service! I booked and paid online ( Jun 17th) and called the company the next day (Jun 18th) to confirm the time and date. They assured me everything was good to go. That was the last I heard from them until the morning of the move. Concerned by the lack of communication, I started calling at 6:00 AM. No answer. Called again at 7:00 AM and still nothing. No one returned my calls, no confirmation, no notice of any issues. At 8:00 AM, when the move was supposed to begin, the first mover, Delante, called and arrived. He was the only saving grace of this entire experience; polite, hardworking, and clearly caught in the middle of a mess he didn't create. He told me he had no idea where the second mover was. Shortly after, I finally got a call, not from the second mover, but from the owner, questioning why I had called earlier that morning. Instead of apologizing for the confusion or delay, he told me the second mover was injured and asked for patience and understanding because he's a small business. That excuse doesn't cut it. You're a business. I paid for a service. If you can't deliver it, you need to communicate and make it right, not guilt trip your customer. Even worse, I later found out that when the owner was finally made aware of the second mover's injuries, he reportedly told Delante to walk off the job and cancel on me entirely. Who does that? Leaving someone stranded on moving day, knowing full well that most people book moving services because they don't have support, is inhumane and shows zero professionalism. Delante stayed and did what he could, but one person handling a two-person job made the process slower and much more stressful. I ended up having to pay for additional time, despite the delays being the company's fault. No discount, no refund, not even a sincere apology. An alternate mover eventually showed up at 10:00 AM, two hours after my start time. What could've been done in 3 hours with two people ended up eating my entire day. I had to call in help from my ex-boyfriend, brother, and roommate just to get through it. The owner was dismissive, unapologetic, inconsiderate, and clearly more concerned with defending himself than doing right by a paying customer. I will never use this company again and do not recommend them to anyone. Delante was the only professional involved and the owner should be ashamed of how he runs this operation. If this is what qualifies as a "top-rated" service, I can't imagine what the bottom looks like.
