Disappointing and Unprofessional Experience I had the unfortunate experience of being misled and ultimately abandoned by your company when you decided not to honor my scheduled moving service. Instead of being transparent, I was lied to, the claim was you all needed "five minutes" to look into rescheduling for the next day only to walk out and never return. There was no explanation, no courtesy of a conversation, and no regard for the fact that I urgently needed to move within the next two days. During our initial discussion, I clearly communicated my time-sensitive situation and I had no prepared myself to the standard in which you need me to be in order to provide me with your services that should have been clearly communicated. As a first-time customer using this or any moving company, I expected professionalism and basic respect. Instead, I was left without warning or resolution, forced to scramble for alternatives at the last minute. A simple, honest response such as, "We're unable to provide service today" would have been far more professional and understandable than outright deception and abandonment. From my first contact with this company to the last item being dropped off at my new home, five stars all the way! Leo was my initial contact; he was very helpful and knowledgeable and I knew right away that this was the company I was going to use for my move. The price he quoted was very reasonable and was lower than four or five other moving companies I had previously contacted. On the morning of the move, the crew was to be there at 8 am but unfortunately due to circumstances beyond their control they were delayed a couple of hours. They wrre quick to contact me to make me aware of the situation. Steve from dispatch and Leo both kept me apprised of the situation and the movers arrived and they were very polite and quite efficient. My furniture was wrapped in plastic, mattress cover placed on my mattress and all of my belongings were delivered without a scratch. They even made an additional stop to drop off some items to a storage unit. Overall they were professional, careful with my items, and very efficient. So...definitely a mixed experience here. The quality of work was good, but because we were on an hourly system, the guys who were working were clearly taking their time to do things. I've seen movers who were working for a pre-set amount, and those fellas were enthusiastic about getting things done, while the word that ran through my head with Green Wheels was "lollygagging" - not something in my regular vocabulary. The thing was that we had pre-packed almost everything - it was just boxes and bags. We'd donated a bunch of our furniture, and what was left shouldn't have taken all that long. Yet we went from an estimated 5 hours to a solid 8, with a difference of $330...not to mention that the shrink wrapping was $12 per item, which wasn't disclosed to me prior to it happening. I probably still would've approved it for most of those items, but it's important to give people a choice, and I felt this was deceptive. Furthermore, the foreman had me sign off on their completion before it was done - and had tried to get me to do it when they were in the picking up phase, as well. He also rounded up by 20-30 minutes in terms of time, since he told me they'd be finishing by 3 PM and put that in the paperwork, but in reality it was much closer to 2:30 PM when they were actually done. Finally, and I don't love throwing this out there, but the guy was a bit of a racist. As you can see by my profile picture, I am a chubby, white, bespectacled dude, and if you look at one of my photos, my wife is a lovely shade of brown. The movers were all Hispanic, for what it's worth. Anyways, the truck shows up before I do, and the foreman gets annoyed and says to my wife, "The owner said his wife would be here." Looking at her like she's the help. That assumption isn't cool - I recognize that our particular combination might be sort of rare, but acting/speaking on prejudice isn't good business or good manners. As for the move itself, our stuff all got in place undamaged, they were painstakingly thorough. They made a stack of stuff in the storage area that will sit untouched until we have to move again, I'm sure. When we do, it won't be with Green Wheels. EDIT: Very shortly after posting, I got a call from the owner of Green Wheels, who asked why I didn't call during the moving day if there were problems. I said that I didn't want to risk potential backlash, and that I understood why the guys moving things more slowly than necessary was a rational decision on their part, even if I didn't like it. He said they'll look into everything, talk to the crew, etc. Also he's giving me a partial refund, $200, which I thought was very fair - and on top of that, he said I could leave up the review, that he wasn't trying to buy his way out of any bad press, it was my experience and I posted it honestly so people would take it together with the experiences of others and reach their own decisions. I've got to say, that's a stand up move. Maybe I should've called them out on what they were doing, and called the office at the time, but the way he conducted himself here, I really respect that. read more

The Green Wheels movers did a fantastic job. They were friendly, cooperative, and polite. They worked almost non-stop. They were careful to wrap major items in blankets and tape. They disassembled and then reassembled items that needed it. Even though I had about 20% more stuff than I had put on the inventory, and even though the job took several hours longer than I thought it would, the price they charged me was barely over the original estimate. I requested a quote from this moving company on Wednesday evening. John called me several times on Thursday morning. I missed his first call, which was around 8:00am, but he left a message and called back a little while later at 10:00am. I answered and informed him I would need to call him back because I was in a meeting. He called me back twice more before the close of business and sent me 3 separate emails. Now it's Saturday and I have received 7 separate emails from John in less than 3 days. John has called me nearly 10 times and left multiple voicemails. The excessive communication I've received from this moving company goes far beyond "good customer service"... it's bothersome and at this point, it's creepy. No one seeking a service should be contacted 7 times in one day, especially when I expressed that I was at work and could not talk. I will not be using this company for my move. read more

These are the only movers I've used in the almost decade I've been in Maryland. I have used them 8 times, including 3 times in one 12 month leasing period from hell (see my other reviews). All I can compare them to is other people's reviews of other companies and I can also compare their estimates to the estimates I have proactively received from other companies. They're damn good at what they do. I usually only require two movers because I am one person with very few belongings and also very few heavy items. The last couple of times, three guys have shown up. I was not happy about this, because I thought it would raise the cost. It raised the cost by about 75 dollars on average. But it's hard for me to complain because they are so fast. Typically they load the truck in a little over an hour and unload in even less time, but during my most recent move the unload was a little over an hour because of some elevator issues at the new place. But they persevered. Part of it is the tools they use when they move you (seems like every moving company has them, but theirs are particularly clever and effective). If they have to pack anything of yours, they will charge you extra: tape, boxes, etc., about 3 dollars per item (yes inflated pricing). I have learned over the years, and my most recent move was nearly perfect because I had everything done. I was very annoyed when they pulled out their packing tape and used it anyway for multiple purposes, but at least I wasn't charged for any boxes. The estimates are consistent, and consistently some of the best I've ever received. Including tips, my moves have never cost more than $750. In the past, they used to make you put down a deposit of about 50-100 dollars, so on moving day, your final balance would be not so bad. These days it seems like they just take the full amount on moving day. Not my preferred method. The heftier deposit before moving day gave me a greater feeling of savings/"ooh, good deal!". A psych trick, but it , worked. For my last several moves, the price has slowly been ticking up, so I now get estimates from at least 2 other places to compare. To be fair, one of the last 8 moves was a relatively last minute move (for me) and I needed someone to move me two weeks in the future: that was the highest amount I've ever paid them. The estimate was 100 dollars more than I expected, and I was not happy. The only reason I didn't grumble much is because my landlord paid 80% of the costs and the place where I was living was horrible and they were moving me relatively last minute. Regardless, I now ensure I come with estimates from other companies. For the first time recently, their estimate wasn't the best. I returned to them and we were able to come to a compromise. The customer service is very good. They have several reps, but Erika is my favorite. Y'all. Erika is my ride or die, basically-on-a-first-name-basis, customer service rep! I have used another guy once maybe two moves ago, and some other guy maybe 4 years ago. Nope: I want Erika. She's just calm, organized, and never gives you the impression that you are getting screwed over or manipulated. She is a straight shooter, and I appreciate that. For the most recent move, I asked them to come at 10:00 am, but for some reason Erika put me down for 8:00 am (probably because 7 of the last 8 times I moved at 8). But when Erika said they had me down for 8, I wasn't sweating it, no problem: anything for Erika. Erika, if you read this, you are amazing and don't ever change! My primary complaint about this company is they are always late. LOL. I mean 7 of the last 8 times, they have been late. When I first used them back in 2012, I was freaked out by this. They were like 45 min-60 min late. That's nothing to sneeze at, that's a LONG time. But they're just so fast at loading, I let it go. When I had them move me last minute, they were on time for the first time: actually slightly early. For the most recent move, they were 45 minutes late. Had they arrived on time most recently, we probably would have avoided some of the elevator problems at the destination, but whatever: it worked out. A secondary complaint is that I have had three things become damaged or go missing on three occasions out of 8 moves. In the first move, an adapter for an Ikea lamp was lost. Without the adapter I couldn't use the lamp, so I threw it away after trying to get a replacement adapter. In the 7th move, someone grabbed my bureau/chest by one of the drawer handles, and broke the handle: they cleverly stuck it back on so I wouldn't think it was broken. Nice try, didn't work, guy. During the most recent move, a glass bowl broke. However, I do not fault them for this one: I remember packing that box and I should have wrapped that bowl in more than one sheet of paper. I still trust these guys to move my stuff. TL; DR: These movers have a track record of getting me moved fast and inexpensively with minimal damage. read more

Used this moving group recently and was overall happy with the move. I ended up paying double from what my original quote was for my move because we ended up using the movers longer than they had thought it would be in the original quote and they helped pack some boxes. The movers were quick and moved everything we asked which took about 5 hours from start to finish. The only complaint Id have is that when helping to pack up some of the boxes the movers literally put anything they saw together. I understand they were hurrying but I did pay extra for this service and it made it trickier when unpacking because I never knew what I'd find together. One recommendation I'd have is if you ask them to help packing anything just bring very specific what should be included. Other than that the move went smoothly and nothing was damaged. read more

Dealing with John was extremely pleasant and smooth, the day of the move on the other hand was not quite so delightful. I moved on a rainy Sunday in late July, and was in a bit of a pickle because I was by myself and had new tenants who wanted to move in the same day after I left. We had agreed on two movers for my one bedroom apt moving less than 1 mile away. The day of the move, movers were late and john called me to ask if it was alright if he sent a third guy out (said he wouldn't charge me and they could get the job done faster etc) since there were already 3 guys with the truck from the last move, otherwise they would have to go drop one of them off which would further delay the whole move. I agreed because I was anxious to get going ASAP. The men arrived I helped wrap the mattress, organized the boxes by where they needed to be placed in the truck (my parents were driving up to take some of the things with them since my new place is smaller). Similar to Jill A's review, one of the men (the one who wasn't originally supposed to be there and spent half the time sitting around in the truck complaining) demanded that i pay $400 right then and there before they unloaded. I had been quoted $400 total (and had already paid $100 deposit) and 100/hr was the rate. It had taken 1h45 min to load from my old place (which I knew was way longer than the unloading would take since some stuff wasn't even moved upstairs - just into my parents' uhaul, and I had been taping up boxes and tying up last minute loose ends) so I said I would pay $300 and if the job went over 4 hours I would pay the additional $100 then. The man was horribly rude and mocked me, asked me if I had ever moved before and did I know how long it would take (yes I thought I did, and this was my third Move in 3 years) he then said "do you think we are animals? Why do you pack the book boxes so heavy?" I explained that I was by myself doing all the packing (and had literally arrived from California the day before from a family wedding) and I was sorry i didn't split the load up from the book boxes. He actually made me cry and was incredibly aggressive and rude. Since it was Sunday their supervisor was hard to track down and finally when he did (after wasting 20+ mins) john confirmed that it was ok to pay 300 now and an extra 100$ if the time went over. By this time I was exhausted and upset not to mention wet and sweaty from the rain. My parents thankfully arrived soon after and stayed to help coordinate the movers at the new place while I drove to my old place to clean and pick up anything left behind, as the new tenants were already sitting outside waiting to start moving in. Turns out I was right. It only took an 1hr 30 mins to finish moving into the new place, bringing the grand total time to around 3h50 mins thanks to the fighting and backlash from that man. I'm glad I didn't let him take advantage because I was a young girl alone and he thought he could squeeze and extra $100 out of me by bullying me and being rude. I am moving again in a few weeks (literally down one flight of stairs) and need help with the larger furniture. One thing is for sure I will NOT be using this company again. Although the price was right he experience was awful, and made a stressful day even more difficult. AAAAAAAMAZING!! A++ We used them to unload our 2 bedroom 2 bath apt on the 3rd floor in Baltimore city and a large storage unit into a rental truck for a long distance move. We asked for 4 guys. These guys were on time to the minute...they worked so quickly and efficiently. I must admit I'm literally the most crazy person ever when it comes to my stuff and I have seriously high end pieces of designer furniture (even though they are separately insured) I am uber sensitive as to how they are handled. These guys were so considerate and cautious with each piece, there was not a mark or bump on anything. Honestly, I've never seen such smaller stature guys with such incredible strength too! My solid wood pieces weigh at least 450lbs and one guy alone manage to load it on a dolly and safely move it out. Seriously I can't say enough good things about these movers. 100% would recommend them! read more

Great move! Despite showing up very late (their first job ran over - not their fault, and always a possibility when you have the 2nd job of the day), the move was absolutely flawless. These guys worked so hard from the moment they showed up, and it was extremely hot out! They didn't take any breaks, and worked at a very fast pace. I hate to give these guys one star because they carried my stuff, which is heavy, and that sucks, and I DID get moved, but holy crap, were these guys unprofessional. My sofas are literally destroyed. They didn't take any care to protect them or the cushions at all and they are now absolutely filthy, I'm afraid to sit on them now. They even broke one of the legs of the soda and didn't say a goddamn word about it. I only found out because they had dumped it in the living room (without asking me where I wanted it) and when I moved it myself to where I did want it I found out that one of the legs had broken off and had been propped up under the sofa so I wouldn't notice. (Since those sofas were basically the only furniture I have and other than that it was just boxes, I have no indication that they would treat other furniture any better) It's weird, they did a great job packing the house, but from there it was all downhill. First off, they stopped for drinks without telling us while they were on the clock. I innocently thought they had gotten lost and called to make sure they had directions and the guy was super pissy about it when he finally showed up almost 30 minutes after we had arrived. The guy was also incredibly rude to my mom when she (very politely!) pointed out that they weren't filling the elevator that was locked for us and instead taking up one thing at a time, which is an enormous waste of time in a building with a slow elevator (and you pay by the hour). He told her, "Maybe I'll just leave it here and you do it yourself." Honestly, if I'd hired the guys outside Home Depot for $20 an hour they would have done a similar job, maybe a better one, and they certainly wouldn't have been as rude. read more

So I get the courtesy call in the morning telling us an ETA of arrival. At arrival things got a little shaky as he was telling us with how the estimate provided may or may not be high enough. Throughout the actual move there was a lot of work and no play. The money we spent were being put to work!! My wife felt safe enough during the move process that I could leave to the new house and wait for other vendors to show up and service our house (ie. washer/dryer delivery, comcast... etc etc) At the end, the estimate was not too far off and was well worth the no frills move. DON'T EVER USE THIS COMPANY!!! RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN!!! They moved us from MD to DE without a hitch. Arrived early, professionally and swiftly loaded us up. Jerardo was very nice and professional......then it all fell apart! When loading our brand new Lazy Boy sofa ($2000) they forced it through the door. My husband tried, several times, how to get it though without damaging the sofa. They continued to force the sofa until the arm ripped and all the feet chipped!!!I called the owner, Steve, to let him know what happened, and IMMEDIATELY he began to deny any responsibility; even though I purchased the additional insurance. I told him the he, in fact, was responsible, and I wanted my sofa replaced. He said he didn't care what I wanted, he would try and repair it, ad that was that. The rip was too big to repair, and I haven't even paid the first payment on the sofa. I did not want a brand spanking new sofa "repaired". He called me a crazy f-ing white b***h!! I threatened not to pay and he told me I could unload the remaining furniture myself!!! Jerardo did complete the unloading. I tipped each mover $50, but did not pay for the service. Now I know that this is not the norm but the fact that Erica called me back and fit me in just shows you the level of service that I was provided. BEWARE - read your quote CAREFULLY. Ask questions up front! I work for an agency which contracted with Green Wheels to move our office space. We are a little over 2 hours away from their office. Because of a weird wrinkle in the way they quote travel time (which the owner swore to me was standard operating procedure), we ended up paying just over $10,000 (fuel included) for them to get to our office and back. 5 hours of travel time, or, for those following at home, $2,000 per hour! The travel time was billed at each man's (16 total) labor rate ($71.5/hr/per guy by the way) + another 3 hours were tacked on (here's the weird part) because they base the travel time "per truck". We had 4 trucks and he somehow found a travel time of 2 hours per truck (???) and acted like we were getting a deal. I'm still scratching my head. I have to take it on the chin because I didn't question the weird quote they sent me up front. That being SAID: Green Wheels uses hard workers who get the job done, and do so with a pleasant and affable manner. They move the items with care and the skill of people who've been doing it for years. And they don't waste time. You just pay for it, and if you're not careful, then some. read more

I used one of those on-line comparison sites where movers will contact you with their rates and availability. Green Wheels was one of the least expensive offers we got and their coordinator, Darlene, was one of the friendliest people I talked to all day. Seriously, one lady yelled at me telling me that if we went with any other company than hers, all of our stuff was likely to get broken and we were dumb to even shop around. Well, nothing got broken and 2 guys showed up at 9am and we were out of our old apartment and into our new one within 3 hours (though we were moving within Arlington which probably helped time-wise). We paid $65/hour and were really happy with the move. The only complaint was with our bed that they disassembled since we told them that we'd reassemble it and some of the screws were stripped. They had offered to reassemble it but I wasn't about to pay an extra hour for it...a decision I regretted later when slaving away at getting the screws in. Overall, it was so nice not having to lift a thing and also not having to buy beer and pizza for friends after spending all day helping us move. Less hassle and well worth it. read more

I was pleased with these movers. I filled out their online estimate form and got a phone call in response shortly afterward. John, the person who called me was professional and courteous. The price seemed fair. $85/hour for 3 movers, minimum 4 hours including 1 hour travel time. I was able to book the move on a Monday for that Friday. I had contacted a few companies and this was the only one which got back to me quickly and was able to schedule a move on such short notice. On the day of the move, the workers were efficient and able. The move of a 1-bedroom took about 4 hours (with no elevator on the receiving side) including the 1 hour 15 minute travel time from from Baltimore to Takoma, DC. Nothing was damaged. The price was as we discussed on the phone. The total for the move was $425 (5 hours, 4 labor + 1 travel). Considering how much renting a truck + gas costs, I think this was a good price. I was also able to pay by credit card, which, imo is a good sign for a company. If they're insisting on cash and willing to hold your possessions hostage until they get cash, then be wary - any problems and that cash is gone. Paying by credit card gives me the comfort of knowing that if there are issues, I can dispute the payment. All in all, I was very happy with how this move went. Constructive criticism: Although I was pleased with these movers, here are some things that could have been improved. First, the movers called me the day before to reschedule because of a bad storm. I understood and we agreed they would come at 8am instead of 9am. However, the next morning, they called at 8:00 and said they'd be there at 8:30. They showed up at 9. This wasn't a big deal, but the communication could have been better. Also, I was very clear on the phone with John that the apartment to which I was moving did not have an elevator. The movers who showed up were not informed of that ahead of time. They didn't charge me more or anything, so it was fine, but John ought to have told the movers that. Lastly, John on the phone told me that he would not charge me for any tape. They normally charge $4/roll for tape. The movers were not informed of this and wanted to charge me. I told them what John had said but, not wanting to fight over $4 said that I'd pay for it if I had to. They ended up not charging me, but it was a little annoying to even have to discuss the issue especially when John on the phone had gratuitously offered it to me. Again, I reiterate that I was pleased with these movers and the criticisms are only posted so that the company can work out the little kinks and be even better in the future. These guys were great!!! First, the price was fantastic. The quote was about half of what other companies quoted us- I knew the actual price would be higher than the quote just because of how much stuff we have. However, even the final cost was far less than what other companies quoted. Also, the team was wonderful. They were efficient, quick, and careful- everything you want in movers. They moved our stuff in a quarter of the time it would have taken us otherwise, nothing broken, or even scratched. I would like to point out that my review was deleted originally... I posted a review in November 2013 and they probably have some sort of review screener with Yelp. Similar to Tara B, great experience with Sales initially, but move-in was another story. I moved in October a little less than a mile away from my current residence from a 1 bedroom to a 2 bedroom apartment and, based on the original quote, i was given about $400 for 2 movers and a truck. It was a rainy day and the movers were almost 2 hours late, and they immediately began complaining about parking and how much "stuff I had to move". it took these people 8 HOURS. 8! To move a one bedroom apartment a third of a mile away. The main guy was constantly on his cell phone, despite my protests. We were charged for packing materials, an extra $50 for tape even though we had tape to provide. My most serious complaint though is that the movers lost items required to re-assemble key pieces of furniture in the apartment, namely the bed, to which they explained "those parts aren't necessary anyway". I attempted to call the sales number and my sales rep and she said that her manager would call me back. I have called once a month now since the move, still no response from the owner. Our move ended up costing $800. Atrocious. read more

Green Wheels Van Lines did great! The guys were very nice and professional. The hourly rate was the best I found around the DMV area. I was a little nervous because they do not have any BBB ratings, but I went with them based of the Yelp reviews, and I'm glad I did. The 3 guys cleared our 10x10 storage unit and two bedroom apartment, and unpacked it all in our new house in about 6 and a half hours. They dismantled and reassembled our furniture as needed. They took care of our valuables and fragile items. I would definitely recommended this moving company! There was a time disconnect between the movers and the office as far as the appointment time. The movers arrived at 8 and I was told they'd arrive at 9. However, it wasn't a big deal I got there at 830 and they started my time at 830, so no harm no fowl there. Also when signing the paperwork at the beginning I saw some extra stair charges and distance charges that could be added. I suspected they would be considering the apt had two flights of stairs and the parking lot was further away. However, they only charged me the hourly flat rate. 4 stars for the move itself, and 5 stars for fixing my desk and sofa better than new. My wife and I went with Green Wheels because our friend recommended them and their price was half that of other movers. The actual move time was a couple hours longer than quoted (we did have a fair number of large items), which bumped up the final bill, but it still was a couple hundred dollars cheaper than the competition. The movers were on time, professional, and efficient. They even saved us money by using our extra boxes to pack our glass dinning table and other items instead of renting their materials. A couple days after the move, I noticed that the drawers to the desk were broken. So my wife called Green Wheels, and even though they told her that Ikea furniture typically is not covered, the company still sent someone to check out the problem. Here is where the service went from very good to outstanding. Steve, who is one of the managers at Green Wheels, came to our home to see the desk. As we would soon find out, Steve is a genuine Mr. Fix, a real-life MacGyver. He fixed not only the problem with the desk, but also an old issue with it from a previous move many years ago. After being marveled at Steve's abilities, I figured I would take advantage of this opportunity to ask him whether he could help me with a longstanding problem I had with my sofa. I wish I had video-taped Steve's ingenuity as he restored the sofa to better than brand new after spending over 90 minutes non-stop. We just completed a complex move from Baltimore to Miami, one which involved storage of some belongings in our condo, storage of furniture and belongings with Green Wheels, and moving belongings to Miami. Green Wheels pulled it all off efficiently, calmly, at a good price, and in a very timely manner. Steve supervised the move - gave us the estimate, then offered to work an extra day to organize our storage area, helping my wife to figure out what to move and what to donate. Then he and a worker packed the storage area full of stuff, saving us the cost of a larger storage area. Then four men came to pack the next day, again working well and getting everything done quickly. On moving day, again four men loaded the truck in under four hours. The truck arrived today in Miami, nothing broken or missing. I checked the estimate with several other movers who were unable to accommodate us on the day we chose; they both said the price was very fair. BTW, Green Wheels price for storage is competitive with (actually, a few dollars cheaper) than PPublic Storage - and the first month is free. We had a very good experience. read more

INCREDIBLE SERVICE!! From seeing the reviews on Yelp! I took the chance and used Green Wheel Vans for my solo move from one home to the next. I can say that I would recommend this service to anyone moving. The truck was huge, the 2 guys didn't have any trouble carrying furniture and were SO CAREFUL with everything. They brought big boxes for consolidation with small items, and took care of the move seamlessly. Very nice people too! They had my address, but followed me to the house once everything was packed up. I can't say enough great things about Green Wheels Van Lines. I moved from Washington, DC to Philadelphia and they completed the move in one day with no problems at all. They arrived on time at 8AM and had everything moved to Philly and all the furniture set up by 5:15PM! They did not break anything and they were extremely professional the entire time. I only made it to Philly 25 minutes ahead of them! I had two movers. One guy was Steve and I am so sorry that I can't remember the other guy's name. They were wonderful. I give this company an A++++++. We had originally scheduled our move with another company to save a few bucks and they had cancelled on us a few days before the move due to lack of a working truck. I called John from Green Wheels and he was able to schedule our move at the last minute. On the day of the move, the movers arrived on time and were very friendly. They handled our items with care and worked very efficiently. Our move from Baltimore, MD to Harrisburg, PA only took 8 hours from start to finish. The price that we were quoted was right on and was just as reasonable, if not more than other companies. If we ever return to Maryland, I will definitely use this company again. THE SELL: I am a self admitted "super consumer" and pride myself in finding the perfect balance of excellent service quality and a fair price. My wife and I recently hired Green Wheels to move a 2 bedroom townhome from DC to NC with full packing service and could not have been more satisfied. I called at least 15 different moving companies and got full quotes from many of them. Steve came out to personally lay eyes on our property and issue us a quote which he and his team stuck to. John was ever so persistent but extremely straight forward and genuine from the get-go. From what I read about the moving industry, the "bait and switch" is fairly common. However, these guys were extremely competent and professional throughout. THE MOVE: These guys promised to arrive at 8am on the busiest Saturday of the year (which I was told from virtually all 15 moving companies), and arrive on time they did. DC got hit with terrible storms the night before and our town was without power for days. Although trees were down all over the area, Steve and his team made special arrangements and arrived at 8am. From the time the team arrived, they were extremely professional and careful of every single belonging that we owned. To give you an idea, they covered dressers with multiple thick blankets, then tapes them up completeley, AND THEN SHRINK WRAPPED THE ENTIRE DRESSER. We paid for a full pack, and Steve and his team must have used about 60-75 boxes and hundreds of yards of packing paper. They broke down large tables and beds and assembled them quickly at our destination. After finally unpacking everything, we are pleased to say that not one single piece of property was either missing nor broken. NOT ONE. CLOSING: Overall, we could not have been more impressed or satisfied with the level of service from these guys. I have already recommended them to all of my friends and family who are moving in the near future, and absolutely plan on hiring them for each and every move going forward. I was very pleased with my experience with green wheels. My moving quote was exactly on par with what it ended up costing. It took 2 guys 3 hours to move all of my boxes from my one-bedroom apartment and unload them at my new apartment (same zip code). The quote was for 4 hours total, including one hour of driving time to my Baltimore apartment and 3 hours of moving for a total of 300 ($75 per hour). When I spoke to John to book my moving time about 2 weeks before the move, I told him that there was a possibility that I might need to change the moving time back a day in case my new apartment wouldn't be ready and he assured me that it would be no problem as long as I told him 2 business days beforehand. However, when I received a confirmation email, it stated that 5 business days were needed or I would be charged $100. Luckily, my new apt was ready on time and I ended up sticking with my original date but it makes me uneasy when what I am told verbally contradicts what I see on paper because had I needed to change the date, I would have had difficulty proving that John had told me that 2 business days was enough notification. That being said, my moving time was from 10am-1pm but the movers called me at 730am, telling me that they were on their way. I told them that they could not come until 10 because that is when I had scheduled the moving elevator at my apartment. They ended up coming to my apartment around 945am and, overall, they did a great job. They did the job quickly and nothing ended up broken or damaged. They took care to wrap things like my dining room table and couch in moving blankets and handled my items with care. The move ended up taking exactly 3 hours and I was charged exactly what I was originally quoted. Despite a few minor hiccups, I was extremely pleased with my experience and would recommend Green Wheels Van Lines to others moving in the Baltimore area. read more

They provided good service with the move and there was no damage. On the negative side, as mentioned by some of the other reviewers, they showed up on door at 8am instead of 9am. We were not ready and our moving elevator was reserved starting 9am--we had to ask them to wait it out. We were given an estimate of $25 for moving supplies like tapes, etc. We got the bill for $80 which included $40 for 10 roles of tape. We had to negotiate and ended up paying $50. Would have appreciated a better accurate estimate, and would suggest others discuss this out before/early on in the process. Finally, the 2 guys doing the work were excellent and worked really hard. The 3rd guy, managing the team was not and we had issues with him. They had one staff manager assigned to the account, another guy who is the daily operations managers and was the one calling us on the phone, and then the on the ground manager. There was a little mis communication between the three. Overall, this was the first time with a moving company. I would use them again as far I can get an better accurate on the moving supplies and a better manager. read more
