I had a very positive experience with this mobile Mechanic. My car would not start and had a blaring alarm that went on for two hours. I tried to jump start my car on my own but still wasn't able get the car started. I was unsure what the problem was and there were no appointments with my dealership for another month. I came across this Yelp page and liked the idea of not having to deal with towing to take my car in for a diagnostic service. This is a follow up to my earlier review to make sure everyone understands exactly what I went through from the beginning and because I just had the most unprofessional engaging conversation with Cuong. My earlier review was just about Cuong as a person but I want to make sure everyone also knows how unprofessional and unprepared at his own job he is. On the first day he committed to come by 7pm in the evening but when I texted him at 7:15pm he said he was just leaving and then after 30 minutes he calls and says there's too much traffic and will come to my home the next day. I was accommodating and said that's okay. The next day even before starting on my car he backs up his truck on the driveway and damages the gutter mentioned in my earlier review. He then tries to use a hammer to get it back into shape even though he has no qualifications to fix it. Cuong says his brother can fix it easily and I being the trusting fool that I am, trust him. He does a basic diagnostic on my car and says I need a new battery. When I asked if he can replace the battery he says he doesn't have one and he said he cannot wait until we get a replacement. Cuong, the mechanic who came to my home, backed his truck into my gutter, who gladly changed me for his "service" of diagnosis, could not be bothered to wait for a replacement battery. I trusted him and paid him for running a diagnostic. I then called a real professional mechanic company RepairSmith who did a great job with no hassle (for your mobile repair needs go with RepairSmith). After that I followed up with Cuong to ask what time his brother will come on the weekend to fix the gutter like he promised. He say his brother is busy and that I should get a quote. I contacted 12 different gutter companies and due to Covid, many companies are not taking partial gutter repair jobs. After spending 2 days contacting gutter repair companies I got through to 2 companies. The first company gave me a quote over the phone at $450 and the second gutter company sent someone out to provide a more accurate quote after checking out our damaged gutter. I received an email quote for $650. When I texted Cuong I even provided the lower quote at $450 and he said it's too much. I continued to text and call, but he ignored my attempts at communication until he read my original Yelp review. One time after he answered my phone call after identifying myself he hung on me. The day he hung up on me, I wrote the original Yelp review. After a few days dealing with a health issue I called him again today to reconcile and he keeps insisting he would fix it with his friend or brother or someone. At this point I don't trust him and so I just say pay me the amount of $450 and let's get this done with because I don't want to deal with him and he has amply proven he is untrustworthy. After raising his voice multiple times he tries to negotiate with me and says let me pay you 300 , let me pay you 400 and you delete the review. I finally yield and say okay because I don't want to have anything to do with him any more. But then he springs another thing where I have to sign a document stating I would delete the review. I don't trust this man with anything, why would I sign something when I have been going with his verbal commitments which he has gone back on multiple times. At this point he refuses to pay me yet again for damage he has done. He is negotiating with me as if he is doing business with me when he is actually compensating me for damage he has caused! I never negotiated with him when he came and did not fix the problem with my car but he now has the audacity to negotiate with me.He also insisted meeting in person which makes no sense at all. I only do reviews when I feel passionate about an experience(s) I have had. This has now been the 2nd car we have gotten serviced through Cuong. My husband found him online and they set up a time to come look at our Impala. It was a commuter car for many years and has upwards of 170,000 miles on it. For the most part, the car is a secondary- retired- car. The Impala gets driven from maybe 10 miles a week. And that's a hard maybe at that. It used to go to the gym and home. That's about it. Earlier in the week, it had overheated. To be honest we were going to just sell it and have it be someone else's 'fix it' problem. However, he explained to Cuong that we rarely use it and really only need it to go to the gym and home. Therefore - and if possible- we don't want to put a lot of money into it. Fast forward and the car has been running for months now without incidents. More so, Cuong did exactly as we asked. It get my husband to and from the gym and we paid 1/3 of what we would have paid at the dealership. It was a great all-around experience. We are now in February and my car-2014 Mercedes E350- had an issue with the duel HVAC system. It's a common issue. ****What also is important to know is my father has been racing and building engines for 'mainland' folks for decades. I always run any car issue by him first even IF he doesn't have experience with a particular brand. He suggested buying the part online because if it's a new Mercedes part from the dealer/manufacturer it's gonna get costly quickly! So, I used a vendor he uses, bought the part, and had it shipped to me. Dealer quote=900 for the part and 400+ for labor/ installation. Yea. And that was an estimate. Because it's a Mercedes my husband wanted to take it to Exclusively Mercedes for the installation. Now don't get me wrong, they are a great business and their cost is also somewhat reasonable compared to the dealership but our quote there was $1100.00 AND they said they would need to buy a new part because the interface was programmed to another car. IF you know anything about cars this is true BUT they can indeed be programmed into another car. Thus, my business went to Cuong. Personally, I'm a straight shooter. Honesty, integrity, and communication are what I look for when doing business with people. Especially with a mechanic! Cuong has upheld the qualities we look for.
