These guys are some of the best plumbers in the business, period. We had no fewer than 3 other plumbers in to look at a problem we were having where our hot water was coming out lukewarm and getting hotter/colder by the minute. The other three guys were saying we'd have to rip down the walls of our condo to find the problem, and ended up retreating, scratching their heads and ultimately having no idea what to do. When Carl Jonasson and his guys tackled the problem, it took some time, but ultimately they tracked it down, and fixed it *correctly* with no demolition required, the first time. Turns out there was a mixer valve improperly installed in our whirlpool tub that had a leak and was leeching cold water into our hot water supply intermittently. We've since used them for 4 or 5 other jobs ranging from toilet repair and replacement to the installation of a new garbage disposal, and they have been just stellar every single time. We had just moved to the area and needed a plumber. Recommended by a friend. Called and they responded very quickly to evaluate the various issues of the new home we had just purchased. Carl was helpful and knowledgeable. We reviewed the list of plumbing problems in the home and he provided an affordable bid. On the scheduled workday, the plumbers arrived on time. We used these guys on the recommendation of a neighbour who had some work done. The job was simply to replace the seal at the base of the toilet. The toilet was old and hadn't been installed properly originally so the first time they attempted it the seal didn't work and we had to call them back. We ended up replacing the toilet entirely and the job was done successfully. Now for the reason for the one star. Massively expensive. At least $200 per hour and the toilet was priced much more than an equivalent from Home Depot / Lowes. Almost $900 for a sum total of 2 hours. Unless you don't care about your budget I wouldn't recommend them. I called them about the price but never got a response. read more

Was driving in front of a guy on LaGrange heading to West Roxbury and one of their plumbers was behind me. Tail-gated me for about a quarter mile and when I slowed down he started flipping me off. I came to a stop and he rushed out of the truck in a show of anger as if he was going to assault me. Called the company and they blew me off. Terrible people. read more

Looking for easy money. Promised a quote on a complex project, ran down the driveway never to be heard from again. Don't waste your time.

We had an issue with the heater with cold air/weak warm air. The company charged $1,700 labor fee for replacing a flame sensor and installing a sensor to the fan. Several weeks later, the heater started to having the same issue. The company couldn't identify the cause of the issue, they said they would have to revisit later, but they never showed up or reached out to us again. We've reached out to other company to fix the issue. Based on the conversation with the other company the issue wasn't with the sensor and replacing sensor should be ~ 1hr worth of labor. If you don't want to overpay for terrible quality of work/service, I strongly recommend everyone to stay away from C H Jonasson. read more

Wow! Rude and very impatient! Just bec i don't speak Plumber's lingo, the man who took my call said he cannot help me bec I "ask too many questions!" I wanted to determine if he can provide a ballpark figure to replace the dryer vent & to break the wall if necessary. The website states the following, ."...We have an exceptional staff of licensed plumbers that are courteous, extremely knowledgeable and ....". Such a beautiful & well done website but paints a different picture. Courteous? Absolutely not! Knowledgeable? I have no doubt he's "full of it" since this is a 3rd generation plumbing company. So I'm disappointed he can't seem to understand what I was trying to describe even though the words used were only the following: vent, DRYER, Wall, cost, ballpark, estimate. Here's another from the website, "...give a me a call and I will do my very best to provide you with a free consultation, estimate and the best possible price that I can provide to you in terms of your needs". Obviously, his "best" was flushed down the drain. You do not deserve my 1 star! read more

A little confused. Made a service call on a week day, not a holiday and not a weekend. tech came out, looked at furnace and said "you need filters but I don't have any on the truck" "gonna have to go to Home Depot". What? standard size filters not on truck? decided to get them myself. Then he charged $200.00 for simple diagnostics (not even for replacing a filter). When asked why so expensive? He said "yeah we're pretty expensive" Other furnace in same house not working. Called different company (second one on list with good reviews just under Jonasson).... $95.00 for visit and diagnostics. I'm finishing a new house in a few months. I will need a service contract......who do you think I'm going to call? read more

Call to get an estimate on having our sewer pump replaced. I was told by Carl, it would be an hour at $175, pump would be roughly $400. I asked to email a contract over, he told me it wasn't needed.The next day the plumber arrived at 11:50. I heard the plumber leave from downstairs. I went down to see what was going on. Looked like everything was installed. There was urine and other matter all over the laundry floor. Nothing was picked up or cleaned. It took me a couple of hours cleaning the mess up myself. I took some pictures the next day, when I sent pictures to Carl, he informed me that they don't Clean up there mess.. it was up to the home owner... I found this very strange, this is a health hazard... I called other plumbers, told them what happened, they said they had never heard of a plumber leaving urine and other matter for the customer to clean themselves. Needless to say we are not very happy.. then when we received the bill it was $250 over the price he had told me... Please, Please, Please... Don't use this company... read more

I have used them off and on the last few years for simple plumbing work and have always tolerated their $150 hourly rate, the work has been fine. I will tolerate it no more! Latest transaction has left me totally dissatisfied, The a priori explanation and professionalism of billing and rationale for expense was completely lacking in latest engagement. Friends, if you have a plumbing need please do not make the mistake I did. Do not use Jonasson Plumbing & Heating. They are completely unprofessional and at least 20% more expensive than everyone else around. They refused to give me a quote for services prior to doing work, and then a bill for a CRAZY amount showed up on my doorstep. Then the owner showed up on my doorstep demanding payment. I wrote him a check for a reasonable amount for services and parts based on my research talking to other kind and reasonable plumbers in the Needham area and then he threatened me. read more

Terrible. I'm disabled and rather than bother my friends I asked a plumber to come because my garbage disposal wasn't moving. They didn't tell me abut the "service charge" just for showing up. Less than a minute cost me $150. Never again. read more

These guys are VERY expensive. They billed 6 1/2 hours of labor to replace a same size household hot water tank. When I questioned the number of hours billed, they said they did not have the time to explain it to me. Their workmanship was good, but their customer relations stink! (they left the old tank in my basement for three weeks. when I called to remind them that it was still there, they said they were too busy to come get it). read more

I called Jonasson because they are in Needham and I am in Wellesley. I like to support local businesses. I needed a washer replaced in a faucet that we were unable to do ourselves due to the faucet being badly stuck. When the service man arrived and looked at the faucet, he said he thought it would be a good idea to replace the washer in the other faucet even though there were no problems with that one. Then he didn't have the washer on his truck and so went to procure 2 washers. He should have EVERYTHING he needs on his truck to do the job. He replaced the 2 washers and the charge was $200! Not my fault that he doesn't have the appropriate parts on his truck and I was in shock at the charge! I do NOT recommend this company! read more

I can't say enough about Carl and his crew. I have known Carl for over four years and he has always been honest and fair. His crew are well trained, knowledgable, and friendly. Most importantly, if he can't pick up the phone when you call he always calls back promptly. He has performed some minor repairs for me over the past four years and recently, I had him replace my boiler and hot water system. His price was in line with the other quotes and at the end of the day I knew I wanted his experienced crew to do the job. The plumber that did the installation, Kris, treated it as if it was his own boiler and really took pride in his workmanship. Everything was tidy and tools were put away at the end of each day, which says a lot about these guys - they enjoy what they do and it shows. I strongly recommend them to anyone looking to do anything from fix a leaky faucet to replacing their heating system. read more
