Many people think that you have to be born and raised in Vero Beach to truly feel like family in our amazingly awesome small town. As we grow and become not so small, just being friendly and taking care of our local restaurants and their servers and bartenders is super important. I devoured a lovely two egg breakfast with hashbrowns and biscuits today at CJ Cannon 's. It arrive fast, hot and fresh and you can't get that many places anymore. My first server was Kenya and then Gene came in and I can tell you that at no point did I have to ask or want for anything! We typically have lunch or dinner here and the food is always consistent and delicious. 1 Star - Unacceptable Service. We were ignored and bypassed on the waitlist five times. ​My husband and I attempted to dine at CJ Cannon's tonight. We arrived between 6:15 and 6:30 PM, and there was a wait, which was fine. We gave the hostess our name and sat down in the waiting area. ​We initially noticed four couples who arrived after us being seated. My husband checked the list and saw our name had been scratched off! He told the hostess, who assured him we would be seated shortly. The owner, Pat, was also up front but was busy chatting with a customer and seemed completely unaware as we were bypassed a fifth time by another couple. ​To be completely ignored and skipped five times was frustrating and unacceptable. We walked out and immediately went to Tuohys in downtown Vero Beach, where we were seated right away and had a wonderful dinner. ​I was extremely hungry and after such a blatant failure of customer service, we won't be back. read more

My family and I had a great first visit to C.J. Cannon's! We got seated immediately on a very busy Saturday brunch time. Our waitress was super helpful and gave great suggestions. We got seated right by the big window so we got to watch the planes take off throughout our meal. Everyone loved their food and thought it was delicious. Aviation themed restaurant located at the municipal airport, which was pretty cool, watching the planes take off on the back patio & eating out here was cool. Service was great, breakfast only on Sunday's, but what a great menu. Wife had breakfast casserole & I had taco bowl breakfast, both were delicious. Bloody Mary's are great & the beer is ice cold. Always have a good experience at CJ Cannon's! CJ's has a large menu, but I've never had anything I didn't enjoy. I'm a beer lover, and they have some local brews on tap which are almost always great. I usually sit at the bar, and so I enjoy chatting with folks there as well. One thing to note -- CJ's is a local's place. I understand it's adjacent to an airport, but that airport didn't always have commercial flights, and the flights they did have, were far and few between. With the addition of Breeze and its popularity (of which CJ's didn't necessarily ask for), it's added a strain of sorts. People with bags, no good place to put those bags, people that just want to hang out in open areas (when there aren't many areas conducive to hanging out), and the travelers being otherwise not understanding to it being a locals place that the locals love. You can understand how this is frustrating on both sides. read more

This is one of those places "I been meanin' to go." Because it's at a small airport, I wondered if it would be like so many airport coffee shops at which I've eaten: heart-burn-burgers and stale fries. Not so. The restaurant has a warm and comfortable decor; it has a tasteful and pleasant ambiance. Naturally its theme is aviation. The menu has all the things I like- salads, burgers, Reuben, French dip, steaks, fish, and pot roast. I ordered a chef salad over pot roast, because they also have my favorite salad dressing (French) which is not available in most restaurants. All of us enjoyed our meal. It was a treat. We recently stopped into CJ Cannon's while waiting for my husband, who had business at the adjacent terminal. We figured the lounge area would be a comfortable place to sit for a short time. However, our experience was unexpectedly unpleasant. Despite sitting quietly and not disturbing anyone, we were told by the owner that we couldn't stay unless we ordered food. We were informed this is "not a waiting area," and were asked to leave even though the restaurant was still open for another 15 minutes. The tone and approach felt unnecessarily harsh and unwelcoming. As a place connected to a public airport, a little hospitality--especially toward those simply waiting calmly for their loved ones--goes a long way. Had been craving for Prime Rib and it was my 60th BD, so wife wanted to take me out. it was 3:30pm so this was only choice out of two that I can find in VB. The extensive menu was a red flag but as I mentioned, this was only one of two in town that has Prime Rib. The experience was not too bad. Just the food was so elementary. started with the Hamburger, promised Medium and it came well done. Grilled Blackened Prime Rib was quite tough to chew. Wife's Grouper was somewhat decent though the fish is questionable to be grouper. Anyhow, it's unlikely I would ever repeat. :-( read more

Walking into CH cannons is like time traveling back to a simpler time. The decor is nostalgic, and such a vibe. The hostess at the entrance was so sweet she offered my nephews lollipops and wished my mom a happy birthday, I later found out she is the owner. Now the food let's get to the real reason we were here, the food. I had a HUGE chili cheese beef hot dog with fries. I had to take more than half to go because I couldn't handle how big it was. For the table we had an order of crispy cheese mozzarella sticks, and the crowd stopper classic potato skins. I almost forgot the best part is you have a perfect view of the runway and get to watch planes taking off. read more

I will start by saying the food was good. However it does not excuse the classist behavior by the owner which was not only antiquated but frankly offensive. We came here from Los Angeles for my aunt's bday. I am used to wait times. And fancy restaurants with queues. This was a special event. My aunt's bday for which I flew my entire family. We came promptly at 6am and were as well behaved as could be with 4 hungry tired children. I can't review the food because we were not even allowed to sit. They wouldn't allow us to take our carry ons with us so we had to leave them by the door. Unattended. At an airport. When asked, the hostess said she wouldn't watch them. I believe her words were "no, we're not associated with the airport." We decided to take our chances because we were really thirsty and wanted to watch a little March Madness. We went in to the lounge as directed and asked the bartender for a table since we couldn't sit at the bar. He directed us to the back of the lounge where the same hostess seemed to be waiting for us. So, we asked for a table for a drink, something to eat and a place to watch a game. She literally told us that she didn't know how to work the remote and she didn't think the bartender had one. In a room with a bunch of TVs that were already on! She then went to the bartender with her back to us. We heard her make a few derogatory remarks and shake her head as if she didn't want us there. At that point, I realized that we weren't welcome and we left. In all my years of traveling, I've never had such a poor experience at a restaurant in an airport. The excuse that you're not associated with the airport is ridiculous. If you don't want to be associated, then go rent a space that's not in the same building as a small airport. Anyone looking for a place to go in the Vero Beach airport, consider taking a taxi somewhere. Anywhere. Travelers don't seem to be welcome here. read more

Omg what a hidden gem!! It has been several years since we've been here and it hasn't changed. It is one of the best deals with great quality. They give you cornbread and biscuits which both were delicious, it is hard for me to decide which one I liked better. I ordered the prime rib 8 oz which was huge and cooked perfectly. It came with two sides I got the Mac and cheese and creamed spinach. I will definitely order the creamed spinach again, it tasted like it was from a steak house! I didn't care for the Mac and cheese. Also they give you dessert included in your entree purchase! What a great deal. The place feels like it is bringing you back in time. It is located at the airport which is very very small. I've eaten at CJs around 10 times now, I've tried the hamburger, hotdog, French dip, burrito, French toast, typical breakfast, and now their prime rib. I've never had a bad meal here. But this review is really for their prime rib I had tonight, it was really out of this world good. Super tender with the perfect amount of juices, full of flavor and really really enjoyable paired with the mashed potatoes. This place has old school vibes with a great view, the host and server were extremely nice and got me seated quickly. I would be more than happy to recommend and can't wait to return. read more

Prime rib was good, but had to ask for horseradish which was supposed to come with. Sweet potato was good, but had to ask for butter. Collards were fresh and cooked well, but absolutely no seasoning. We were seated in lounge area where the political views of the restaurant were clear by the news channel they had on and what the patrons at the bar were talking and cursing about. A restaurant should be safe space for everyone to get a meal and enjoy themselves in a politics free zone. U could tell there were many regulars. Maybe that's all they care about. Great service! I absolutely loved my waitress. She was such a sweetheart, and she was very transparent with us about the food items and her recommendations. I appreciate her so much! As for the food-- VERY plentiful and delicious! I got an absolutely huge Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich and fries for ~$17! My aunt bought the Spinach Salad and she loved her food, too! Awesome portioning and lovely flavor. The ambience feels very... vintage? It's comfortable. An old-timey kind of place, but it's very clean and pleasant.
