I came here for my birthday this year and it was amazing! The restaurant is in a strip mall surrounded by others but all they have is a little neon sign of a cat on their outward facing window! It was so cool, and the service was so welcoming. We were seated immediately which was a lovely surprise. My family ordered 3 orders of the foi gras, each having some of the largest portions of the delicacy we've ever seen, but the perfect amount! Not to much and not to little. Our mains were equally as appetizing! Everything is cooked by this incredible chef who cooks all her creations in a kitchen at the center of the restaurant, where many may place the bar. We went last night. What a great place!! Intimate, cute, delicious, incredible service! I started with the endive, raddicio beet salad, perfectly dressed; halibut with orzo the plate was beautiful, fish cooked perfectly...sooo so yummy. Others had the lobster salad app, small and enjoyed, it was like a small ring of chopped lobster with white dressing, followed by the scallops with the orzo/spinach side another yummy plate. Shared a bottle of white wine, they have a nice wine list. For dessert we shared the ginger crème brûlée and the brown butter pear tart. Crème brûlée was really good, the pear tart was enjoyed too!! For me tho I didn't get brown butter just too much on the lavender and cinnamon. This place is awesome and I can't wait to go back. It was a pretty perfect meal! read more

Kitty's is so good....shhhhh! Please don't tell anyone! I know eventually, it'll be next to impossible to get a table here. Part of the appeal of this fine restaurant is the "secret hideaway" factor: no phone number, no sign outside, no reservations, no advertising. Word of mouth only, and if you don't know about it, you'd never know it existed, even if you walked right by. Kitty is a real person and an accomplished restauranteur--former owner of Blue Star. She's put all her skills and passion into Kitty's Place to create an upscale, classy menu and sophisticated wine list in a relaxed, easy, contemporary setting. And note that prices are, well, "upscale". We started with two appetisers: foie gras prepared and presented perfectly and chicken liver mousse. Both outstanding, and consumed with a nice bottle of cold Sauternes. We followed starters with halibut, chicken breast and roasted duck entrees. All rich, tasty and wonderfully presented. Delightful with crisp Chablis. Kitty's is truly pushing the envelope for Vero Beach. Food is first rate, service attentive. I have 2 suggestions, we arrived shortly after their 5 PM opening. The restaurant already had 2 or 3 tables with diners. The guy who seated us gave us a nice table for 2 (small and close to other tables), then he sat 3 louder than us diners directly next to us when there were many other tables they could have gone to. After our second glass of wine it didn't matter as much but it felt like his interest was making it more convenient for servers, not the diners. We felt stacked in when it wasn't yet necessary. Other suggestion is for servers. Stop inferring your part of our group with "what would WE like for dinner?" Made us feel patronized and like children. Treat us like the adults we are who can afford a $200+ dinner for two, with respect. With these 2 suggestions taken to heart, Kitty's is the top restaurant in Vero! read more

Food is excellent! Service...not so good. Waitress Forget to place the order for 1 of our desserts. Brought us the wrong check! But what really irritated me was after dinner the server asked if we want coffee, espresso, etc... and so Me & my father each asked for a double espresso. Now the server never said "we don't do doubles & so I'll have to charge you for 2 espressos each! Which is what she did & of course you can understand my shock when I found out I paid $16 for 1 double espresso & $32 for 2!! You gotta be joking, right?! That's highway robbery! Espresso at the Four seasons & Ritz Carlton is only $7 last time I was there & $10 for a double! For $16 I should of had it served in a 24k gold cup! Lol! I didn't realize this till I got home. And I wanted to call them to find out - maybe the server just didn't know how to charge for a double espresso & perhaps mistakenly charged us for 4. But their establishment has no phone number. No means of contact. Unless you go in person! And now they are closed for a month. My advice is get the food & pass on the coffee! read more

I went there for the first time and was asked if there were any food allergies and I told the waiter I had a dairy allergy. He went to the kitchen and the owner told him that there was nothing that was non dairy except a house sale. I was so embarrassed. I sat as my friends and husband ate dinner with nothing. I've dined here in the past and had wonderful experiences. However tonight was an exception. We were celebrating a birthday dinner because up to tonight this was my favorite restaurant in VB. We were seated at 6:15 and did not get our entrees until 8:30! Our server Clint apologized for the delay but we missed a post dinner event because of this. And when the dinners finally arrived the halibut was dry and the scallops were gritty. Completely disappointing. I can't say that I would recommend this place anymore. read more

No sin. No phone. No worries. Hard to find but well worth it for the ambience, friendly staff and a delicious dinner. We started with pâté and zucchini bread. A nice start and excellent accompaniment to our first glass of wine. Duck confit over beet and leek risotto was way too good to share. My wife felt the same about her scallops. Three huge, succulent divers' scallops tempted my fork but she fended me off. We finished with a peach crisp that exploited fresh, juicy peaches. We'll be back soon. Amazing place, on the water, small, charming, great staff. You can sit at a table, inside or a patio outside, at a banquette, at the bar--all comfortable. The menu is small, but excellent, the wine list is a good one, also beer. They have a great bartender, and mostly, Ms. Kitty, a talented chef and lovely lady. The service was good, but I found the menu to be quite boastful and a little too roadkill for me. They offer animals that aren't really fine cuisine, just ones you normally see running around yard and you smile as they go by. I don't find this to be fine cuisine. I think it's an easy way to be different without really trying since they have no competition. I don't see eating squirrel as fine cuisine. The wine choices were extremely disappointing, very less than eventful and basically what I call porch wine. They were not wines for dinner eating anything. I serve better wine for appetizers at my own home. They were commonplace and not impressive. I will not be going back. Oh, best thing there, the Vanilla Lavender Creme Brulee. That was excellent! Best lavendar creme brulee I've ever tried. I could taste the Lavender pleasantly. It was perfect! I may go back just for it! I would need to bring my own wine though, but not sure they allow that. I must disclose I like heavy wines, I"m not a new or light wine drinker, I like a robust heavy wine. Of course a white dessert wine would be best with the brulee. Don't think I would go too sweet though, but white for sure. I was disappointed in Kitty's, it could have been so much better. I think instead of trying to wow with wild game that may not even make the wild game list in authenticiy, just do great cuisine and creative cuisine with normally eaten meats and some vegetarian as well. I think people will respect talent over strange. Sorry it wasn't even strange in an elegant way, it was just too backwoods for me. I wish I had a good review. I was looking forward to having a lovely dinner here. After looking thru the limited menu, nothing was to any of our liking so NONE of us had an Entree!! Instead we opted for appetizers. My Liver pate was ok (I make the same thing but with much more butter its smoother and delicious) It was served with zucchini bread!! Sweet and very good (FOR BREAKFAST) not with a pate. I asked for toast and was charged $10, YES $10 for 4 small pieces of toast!!! Gazpacho was another choice. Waaay too much vinegar. I live on the Iberian Peninsula 5 months of the year and I KNOW GOOD GASPACHO... and this is NOT it. The Stilton "platter" was another... a VERY SMALL amount of cheese was thrown on the plate with 2 dates and a wedge of tired radicchio. "Platter" is a misnomer. All in all a HUGH disappointment....No telephone, no sign on the door, no reservations .. whats that all about.??? Unfortunately it is EXTREMELY loud.....Hard to hear anyone at the table speak. I too wish I could give a good review, unfortunately I agree totally with Diane A. another reviewer. Kitty's was recommended by a friend and we were looking forward to having a great birthday meal. We ordered the Stilton platter for the table. If you look at their website (photos) it doesn't even come close to what they posted. The so called platter had a few little crusty crackers that were broken and stale, joined by 2 dates and a tiny amount of cheese, and a sad wedge of radicchio. From the extremely limited menu I chose the scallops because it was the only non meat entree they offered. I received 3 scallops yes 3! They were called JUMBO on the menu...believe me they were not! My first thought as my plate was placed in front of me was "is that it'! The slightly undercooked scallops were placed atop CORN with little bits of green and red peppers mixed through it. That was it for $32!!! The corn mixture reminded me of the can of Mexican style corn I have in my pantry. Umm, could they have used that? There as nothing extra, no rice, potato, salad or any other vegetable, plus no bread for the table. My friends both ordered the chicken piccata which was extremely thin, plated with the salad greens on the same plate! We then ordered dessert, the Creme Brulee which was thin but good (best part of the meal). One of my friends ordered the flourless chocolate cake...another disappointment, you could taste flour, it was dry and not creamy! (We just had the same type the week prior at Citron Bistro and it was rich, creamy and fabulous) This one was not. Also we had a $20+ bottle of wine for the table. Our bill was over $200 plus tip for 3 of us. I know for me I left hungry and I am not a big eater. None of us will ever go back or recommend this restaurant.
