We were looking for a quick but local meal on our road trip and found reviews on here for CR Chicks. We're so glad we stopped! The staff was so friendly and welcoming, greeting us warmly, giving us recommendations, and chatting with us while we dined in. The chicken was juicy with good flavor and sides great as well! I love potatoes so was curious about theirs with the horseradish in them- they were done well with just enough flavor to be noticable but not overwhelming. The Mac and cheese, meatloaf sandwich, and BBQ sandwich got great reviews from the rest of our party as well. It was a small shop with room to dine in if you chose, but can pick up easily as s well. I've always loved CR Chicks. From the pastas, to chicken Cesar salad with the honey mustard dressing, the lunch special half sandwich and side , the bread is always a must, the chicken soup and of course the huge chocolate chip cookies. Let me start by saying that I absolutely love all of the food from C.R. Chicks, I've been eating there for 25+ years. This particular location I've noticed the service going downhill quite a bit within the past year which is unfortunate because it's used to be my go to for a good easy meal.. I picked up my order tonight only to come home and find it looked as if they stood from 10 feet away and threw all of my sides into the box and then proceeded to put a piece of chicken in the box that still has feathers sticking out of it. There is a drool worthy chicken rotisserie display right up front by the window that is quite fascinating and catches your attention. It's Marinated slow-cooked over Brazilian Oak Logs. Yummy. My friend that had been here before recommended the Smoked Chicken with Penne Pasta with Tomato Basil Cream Sauce. Oh how delicious this was. Quantity was plenty and was filling. It had chunks of chicken that was so tender, you didn't need a knife to cut through it. It was only $11.25, very affordable. I also noticed their catering menu. And this is why I say I wish there was a closer location to home. I can definitely host more parties with those prices. All catering menu items were less than $10 per person some were even $5.95 and it comes with a salad. Fantastic! Best part is that the food is really really good! I've never been so repulsed by a restaurant. The kitchen looked filthy. The staff was standing around looking confused and sweaty. Everyone had dirty shirts. The grill is mere feet behind the cash register so the reality of the kitchen is on full display. There were chicken pieces on the floor. Terrible - avoid this place at all costs. CR Chicks is a staple when I come to town! This location is very very bad. First I ordered Uber eats and was told when I called to modify it that they don't use Uber eats.....then I was disconnected. I then called 5 times over the course of 30 minutes and couldn't get through. The phone rang and rang and then went to busy signal! I then called the Abacoa location and was given the same number which I called while the employee was on the line. Once he heard it he stated he couldn't help me and didn't know why it didn't work. I'll continue to go to the one in Wellington but will tell anyone that asks in this area to avoid these locations. You all lost $80 due to this issue. Chicken is DISGUSTING. It is so dry that you literally have to order a drink with your food or you will risk death by dry mouth. Food has increased in price and decreased in portion which is quite stupid because then the only people that go here *homeless people* will not be able to afford it. I like to play a game called: guess how hard the bread is. I nearly chipped my tooth biting into it. The potatoes are the mystery. You never know how they'll taste because one day they're great and the next they're horrible. The taste is ever-changing. Don't even get me started on the cookies. While the food here is generally pretty good the service is horrendous. The counter staff and the cooks are incredibly rude and impatient. For some pasta and chicken, the Smokey is incredibly overpriced for the food. The sauce is good but I don't think it's worth all of the price. We have been getting food for our family at CR Chicks on Indiantown Rd for years. Our family favorite is the Smokey - Chicken Penne with Vodka sauce. My husband ordered dinner from there last night. Apparently the to go container has been changed from a white styrofoam to a smaller plastic one. It now contains a little bit more that half of the portion that it used to have for the same price. I understand that restaurants change things from time to time but this is ridiculous. If your portion is going to change so drastically, change the price accordingly. Or keep the normal portion and raise the price. read more
