This is my second visit to this great little restaurant. Visited a few weeks ago and had an excellent experience. So, why review again? Experiences can be one-offs that aren't truly representative of the restaurant. You place your order at a station right at the entrance. They bring your food to your table. One note: you pour your own coffee (or tea in my case) at the coffee bar. Nothing fancy, with plastic ware, styrofoam cups and baskets for your food. But, as in my previous visit, the service was excellent. The girl taking your order is always pleasant and helpful and she will visit you during your meal to make sure everything is ok. I decided to try a different dish. This time I ordered the Taylor Ham and egg "hoagie" (they call it "pork roll" which means they come from south Jersey). In addition to my hoagie I also ordered a cinnamon roll. The delightfully fresh bread hoagie comes jam packed with two eggs and plenty of Taylor Ham. I ordered my eggs over easy to assure plenty of yolk and that's exactly how it arrived. Be forewarned, the sandwich is big (my brother took 1/2 home) so make sure you leave plenty of room or better still share with your guest. As mentioned, I also wanted to try their jumbo cinnamon roll which I had passed on, on my previous visit. The server asked if I wanted the cinnamon roll grilled. I chose to have it heated and buttered (via microwave), which threw a curve at my server who had obviously never had that request before however, it came out exactly as I had requested. A warm, moist cinnamon roll with melted butter provides the perfect salty/sweet balance that made this a delight to eat. Although full from our sandwiches, we couldn't stop until we demolished that jumbo cinnamon roll! The bottom line: As with all my reviews my "customer so what" ... would I come back? Since this is my second visit in the span of two weeks, the answer is obvious... absolutely. read more

Great food and great service. Did not even know it existed on Dixie Highway. Found it by accident and I'm glad I did.

Yuck. I wanted a simple sub so I decided to stop in, they were very busy during the lunch rush but I ordered and waited. I got a ham and turkey with provolone on a sub roll, mayo lettuce and oil and vinegar, bag of chips and a drink... $17! Insane price for a sandwich lunch, but I was hopeful that it would be worth it. When I got back to my office I opened my sandwich and it was soaking wet, so much that the bottom was falling out. It had tomatoes, which fine I'll pick them off, but hardly any lettuce and gobs of mayonnaise. After opening it up, there was one slice of ham and one slice of turkey as far as the meat goes and no provolone which I had asked for. The entire sandwich was soaked with mayonnaise and oil and vinegar, in excessive amounts and was inedible. I picked out the couple slices of meat and the rest away. Not worth the price. read more

This is a local favorite in Port Salerno. Bret and I found this place when we moved into the Yacht and Country Club. Quickly realized we were not the country club kind and moved right out but continue to come here almost weekly. You walk in and everything is listed on a board. I have never ordered anything but the cheesesteak as they are incredible. Most like the ones I used to get in Philly. I usually get a half as they are cut much larger than a true half. And yes, it was a very good Philly cheesesteak pretty authentic onion rings, good french fries everything was great one thing just a suggestion. The chairs sliding on the floor are very obnoxious. Just put those rubber pads on the bottom of the chairs cause it echoes in there. That's it overall everything was perfect. read more

While visiting my parents in Stuart, we always hit the beach for a day. This includes grabbing subs for lunch. After doing a quick search on Ep to find a place this year, I landed here. They have an easy online ordering system that allowed me to customize our sandwiches, add chips (for only $1 per bag!), and pay online - making pick up a breeze. They also send a text alert to let you know your sandwiches are ready. The sandwiches were perfect and everyone was very happy! Bread was fresh and soft and the fillings were plentiful! (My only complaint - bit into an olive pit.) Best part - discovered the place is RIGHT ON THE WAY to my parents' favorite beach spot!! Little mom and pop shop right by the railroad. No frills here just good food, good people and good vibes. You know the place is good when you hear customers come through and the staff acknowledges them by name. Makes you feel welcome, even if you're like me and are traveling through. I got the Philly cheese steak and it was top notch. Just simply beef, cheese and onions on top of a warm hoagie roll. Dont be confused like we were. :) order when you walk in and then find a seat. They'll bring your food once it's made to order. Which is the best. They make it fresh. We came for breakfast. Service was friendly, fast, and like I said, made to order ... in our family that means crispy, almost burned bacon and extra cheese on my eggs. Being new to the area, we are sampling many different restaurants. Make no mistake, this is a true American diner however we definitely would recommend this establishment if you like home cooked diner food. We ate a basic breakfast and the eggs were cooked perfectly, the home fries tasty and the service was quick. The variety offered was impressive and we saw someone order the meatloaf which was a daily special. It looked amazing and in speaking with the customer, they raved about it. So we will be returning to sample that. The staff were very friendly and made us feel very welcome! I love this quaint little restaurant. It was right down the street from my house when I moved to Stuart so I ended up going there quite a bit. If you got to Whistle Shop, you have to get the philly cheese steak. That's the best sandwich at the restaurant. It's so good. The cheese is fresh. The pieces of steak are cut just right and the bread is sensational. The onions and peppers are okay but the rest of the sandwich makes up for that. read more

If I could give this place no starts I would, i am writing this review for my sister because she doesn't have a yelp. But this morning she called in an order 30 minutes in advance and the order was never put in and she didn't not find out until she drove out of her way to get her breakfast before work only to be told the order was never put in. Whistle Stop used to a be favorite of ours in Stuart. Not sure what happened, but we went recently, and two of our favorites were surprisingly gone from the menu (Cuban sandwich, Brunswick stew). The Philly cheesesteak was still pretty good. To replace the missing items in our usual order, we were encouraged to get a burger which was really bad, had a soggy bun and tasted and looked like a frozen grocery store patty. The other item was a buffalo chicken sandwich, which had a sopping wet bun, dry (likely frozen) chicken breast and a pitiful piece of lettuce and tomato. We used to recommend, but I would definitely not anymore. If you go, stick to the Philly and expect it to probably cost more than its worth. read more
