I don't know what to say about this place other than it is either delicious or disappointing. Some day, the food is terrific. The smoked chicken and penne dish was unbelievable the first time I had it. Lots of delicious chicken, a creamy tomato basil (I think) sauce, the pasta was cooked perfectly, and it was a huge surprise from what appears to be a rotisserie chicken place. The next time I went, there was next to no chicken in my "smokey" (which is what they call this dish) and the sauce was runny and the pasta was still a good 2-3 minutes away from being soft enough to consider "al dente". I tried again, got a great chicken breast sandwich, so when I returned for the 4th time (I'm staying in a hotel across the street for several weeks) I got the chicken sandwich again. This time, the chicken was OK, but not as moist as the time before and the bread was water logged by the huge amount of still wet lettuce and a mushy over-ripe tomato. To make it worse, I watched a huge guy decked out in camouflage (a cook or something) verbally destroy a young employee who was no older than 17 or 18 and was literally half his height. Everyone in the restaurant became uncomfortable as he carried on about how she had the nerve to tell him what to do. Several customers were talking about it outside when we finally got our food. It's a shame because when the place is good, it's great... unfortunately, I have decided it is no longer worth me hoping to catch them on a "good day". read more

We have been eating here for years but it has really gone down hill! Service here is just awful. We tried to order 3 "5 drumstick meals" and they told us no they can't do that. So why is it on your menu? The girl on the phone was so rude about it saying they end up wasting the rest of the chicken which would have been fine if she was nice about it. We where going to over 6 more meals that would have used up the some of the birds but we couldn't even get passed her rude attitude so we are ordering Park Ave. Their wings are better anyway. read more

My company ordered yesterday so it was about 9 lunch's I ordered chicken sandwich with rice no beans along with chicken soup... let's start with what was good, the rice n beans tasted awesome and now for the rest... the orders came in wrong the chicken very dry and no seasoning the soup chicken was like swallowing chalk it was that dry. Everyone mentioned how nasty the choice was on restaurant next time if we ever do Oder here I will stick to my can of ravioli- it seems like the only thing they do is grilled chicken but that's it. My absolute favorite place for 16 years! I left the 561 area for about 9 years, and this might have been the thing I missed the most (I love you best friend, but smokey and bread is life). I tend to order one of two main meals, but honestly anything on the menu will satisfy your tummy. The smokey chicken and pasta is a go to for most customers, but for nostalgia's sake, their butter penne with cheese is better than any other place I know for some good carbs. The bread and the casino garlic butter make me realize I could never do a carb-free diet. If you want to add something somewhat healthy for a side, I would recommend the dressing soaked cucumber slices. Sixteen years later, and I'm still not tired! read more

Really poor experience- Ordered Chicken Salad Sandwich and soup. Chicken salad was large hard chunks of chicken and not edible. Soup was tasteless. When I mentioned something to the person who seemed to be in charge, his response was we use Chris and Ricks recipe and he walked away. Not the right way to treat a guest! Very poor customer service. The Smokey is a South Florida classic! The food is always fantastic! However the black haired girl with glasses and hat working the register had major attitude problems. Third time.. easy, local,, chicken little on dry side and completely lacked flavor, seasoning, even salt and pepper. Would be really good if was seasoned.. Veggies kinda overdone and limp. This place is excellent. I've gotten to the point where I basically just eat here at least once per week. The chicken is so good, and it's all natural, free-range chicken (not raised in a box). FYI : MAKE SURE TO PRINT OUT ANY LOCAL DINES COUPONS. I was just there and placed my order and then showed the young lady at the register my phone ( where a copy of the coupon is ) She almost fainted at the sight of the coupon. When I asked her what the problem was, she said since it wasn't printed , she would now have to call for approval. (Her attitude was so terrible, I was almost embarrassed for her. )....... After her heavy sighs and numerous eye rolls , she then asked her co workers if any of them knew how to process the coupon.........no one seemed to know. She then walked over to the phone and made a 10 second phone call and came over and said I was all set. Really easy huh?? I was appalled by her poor attitude and rudeness and very surprised that the manager didn't even try and correct her.
