In July 2021, after seeing an orthopedic doctor and receiving a round of HA gel injections previously, my knee was in an abundance of pain. I could barely walk and it was affecting my ability to work, workout, drive and do normal activities with friends and family. At the advice of a friend, I called Active Care. I had never been to a Chiropractor before but was desperate for help. I was welcomed with friendly faces, a clean and open office, an insurance sheet that told me exactly how much I would owe for what and when, and Doctors with positive attitudes, outgoing personalities, and who truly want the best for you. I saw Dr. Freseth who created a plan for me that included rehabilitation, adjustments, exams, and regular massages with Cheryl. Every rehab session turned into "work and talk" discussions about food, life, athleisurewear and healthy living which made me excited to keep coming back and motivated to keep up my progress. I was a week from scheduling cervical (neck) surgery because I…read morehad been in severe pain and no other specialists had helped to alleviate it. Mind you, I was in such pain that I could barely dress myself or walk to another room. I had spent almost 2 months basically sitting in a recliner to get some relief. My husband had to even drive me to each of the appointments. I tried everything short of the surgery including steroid packs, prescription pain medication, physical therapy, and a cortisone injection with no relief. After receiving an X-ray, 2 MRI's for the neck and shoulder (to rule out shoulder problems), I received a diagnosis of cervical stenosis (a narrowing of the spinal column with herniated discs). When the previous methods did not work, I met with a spinal surgeon and was about to schedule surgery. My kind sister-in-law recommended Dr. Molloy. I was reluctant because how could a chiropractor help when my diagnosis was a narrow spine? But I kept an open mind and was willing to try anything. I was able to get in immediately to see Dr. Molloy. He was friendly, kind, and answered all questions readily. He took his own X-rays and found that in addition to the herniated discs that I also had a rotated disc in my upper back (something that was never looked at previously). I began to see Dr. Molloy 4-5 days a week for approximately two months. At these visits, he gave adjustments (I'm very happy to report that my rotated disc is back in place!), used a muscle stimulator on my upper back (due to the tense muscles), and used ultrasound to reduce the nerve inflammation. This is the third month since I began seeing him and I am happy to report that I am significantly better. I no longer take any prescription pain medication. I only see him once per week for ultrasound and now have gotten back to all daily activities! I very highly recommend Dr. Molloy. He is really one of the best doctors out there!

It seems a lot of my back problems are work related with no end in sight except for when I get adjusted. This location is fairly convenient for me being 14 miles and 30 minutes from work I can usually just make it before they close. I have been coming to the Joint for years. Between my wellness plans and additional visits I'm dropping over $900 a year in treatment. That is ALOT cheaper than their closest competitor Chiro One who wanted to charge me $3,000 for just 50 visits. I recommend the Joint and will update this review with time. Right now with the COVID-19 situation you need to be sure to wear a face mask into the location due to an ordinance from the city of Northbrook or you won't get service. COVID-19 is changing the day to day for all of us. Overall service from the Joint has been excellent. However they need to get an email system set up from the corporate office so that the varying franchise locations have a platform for updates like office closed or face mask required for service. Today was the first time I went in and won't gain 45 minutes of my life back because an email system like I described seems lacking. I have a ton of masks and would have brought one during today's visit had I received an email notification. I left annoyed. The location still gets 5 starts in my eyes but the email application needs to be developed as a courtesy to patients. Update4/23/2020: After checking the city website the ordinance requiring face masks went into effect Monday April, 20. My wasted trip occurred April 22 around 6:40 PM. I'll update this review again if they add a notification system that lets patients know of changes to the clinic. Other business including my dentist and doctors office have text and email systems in place. Hopefully the corporate office does something for the many franchise locations soon especially given that city ordinances may be added and changed at any time. This isn't just a COVID-19 situation. This is an everyday useful service that should be in place. Additional Update:The Facebook page for the location was updated today 4/23/2020 to show the new ordinance.
