Steak on a stick as an appetizer is really good! The view is beautiful by the river . We also had the virgin piña coladas and our kids loved it . They were busy & forgot one of the kids meals and we thought they weren't going to serve it and we were all full and I requested to not want it anymore when at the end they brought it out they said they couldn't take it out of the tab anymore since we ordered it already but if they forgot about it and gave it to us when we were done eating then we shouldn't have to pay for it. But we didn't argue about it ..... didn't want to make it a big deal since it was ordered in the first place but that's the reason for 4 stars. Came here for the first time over the weekend - luckily, as it closed for the season the next day!! Little disappointing that they didn't have a lot of their drafts, assuming it's because they were closing and just were using what they had and not ordering more. Completely understandable. Had the queseo dip & chips: queseo had a nice kick to it which I liked, the chips were just bagged chips which was disappointing since the person who reccomend we come here said they made homemade. For actual lunch: chicken tender basket with fries. No complaints, hot juicy and delicious. (i'm a harsh judger when it comes to chicken tenders!!) Last night was by far the best service I've ever had here. Lilly was our fabulous server. It was her first night and she really did a great job! Attentive, friendly and very efficient. I'm asking for her in the future. Drinks came out quickly and were well made. The food was served promptly and we all liked what we got. Arrived at 5:30 on September 10, 2022. Plenty of seating. We just happen to be seated at a table with a broken umbrella. Would not stay upright and kept falling over. Asked for another table right next to us which was vacant. We were told, "that section was closed". We said ok. Let's just take it off. Nope it has to stay at the table, you can't take it off even if it is broken. Ok. Let's move to one of the other tables in the section that is open. Nope. That would make too much sense. Instead she said, " You will have to see the hostess and be put on the list in case there is a wait." Then we said, we will take the broken umbrella and swap it for one that isn't broken at the table right next to us in the section she said was closed. Nope. That is not allowed. If there were just two people, you could just let it lean to one side. But, we had four people and didn't have space to do that. I mean, most people want to eat without the risk of a head trauma. :) How can tips be expected for such tacky service?? Bless her heart. Poor thing didn't seem to have the sense God gave a goose!! Come on, Cabana. Do better!! Update. July 27, 2024. Decided to go back to the Cabana despite our bad first experience and thought this would be better. Wrong! We had a table in the sun. But there wasn't a broken umbrella this time. It was worse. There was no umbrella. Shortly after we got our drinks, three tables open up right around us and we asked to move and were told "that table is reserved for someone else". The someone else never showed up. We sat there for over 20 minutes waiting for the special people, but no one was seated there. We officially give up. We took our food and left. Farewell Cabana. You won't get another review from us, because we won't be back. We have friends who refuse to go there and now I truly understand why. read more

All of the other reviews are right. It's basically bar / picnic food. On styrofoam plates. The fried pickles were my favorite part actually. It's clear that they fry everything in the same fryer/oil as the items all tasted the same. The atmosphere and river view is super nice! They have volleyball leagues almost everyday which keeps this place packed and lively. May or may not go back. read more

we found this restaurant as we want to be out during Covid, they have outdoor seating just by the Ohio river, the view is great! Service is prompt and good. I ordered the steamed mussels and potato skins, it's all came out great. There are few mussels aren't open, so i talked to the waitress, she is very nice, and went in talked to the chef, and give me another plate of mussels even i only asked to replace those closed shell's mussels! This is a fun, upbeat, beachy-vibed, waterfront, open-air restaurant! Our family celebrated a birthday and it was unforgettable! They allowed us to bring our own cake. The service was outstanding. View of the river; spectacular! We enjoyed mango pina coladas and they were yummy! I had the ahi tuna and it was amazing! Most of my family got cheeseburgers and they were to die for. I would go back for the fried shrimp appetizer! Even the bathrooms were brightly painted! Can't say enough about this place. Went for Mother's Day dinner with my mom, sister, and nephew. Of course, the wait time was long, but I had joined the wait list here on Yelp, so we knew when to show up. They were extremely busy, but the wait staff was killing it. Food came put hot and as ordered ( I have food allergies, so I always worry about what will really show up to the table). Our waitress nailed it. She even told me not to eat a certain sauce and made sure she checked with the kitchen about certain items. She made my experience much more enjoyable. All wait staff were refilling drinks and checking on patrons regularly. I can't believe how friendly and accommodating the staff were when being so busy. A+ all around. We love the atmosphere at the Cabana on the River, great spot for a date night or an evening with the family.

Food was great The atmosphere was terrific. The service was good route. They had a nice scenery of the river.

This place could be so cool, because that view on the lower deck is awesome. Unfortunately, nothing else is really great about it. Basic information: It's all outdoor seating, there is no "inside", just a covered section and an uncovered section. There is no beer on draught. Mostly domestic bottles and canned seltzer's, and liquor. Right now, once you check in with the host, you must go wait outside the gate of the restaurant until your table is ready (so in the parking lot). Something we thought was odd: you can buy an alcoholic drink at the bar before exiting the gate, while you wait for your table in the parking lot. You CANNOT brink that same drink back into the gate when your table is ready. Lol. Confusing. Pouring soft drinks and water from pitchers directly into the plastic cups people already drank out of. (During COVID or not, this is unsanitary) The wait for your food after you order is quite long, even with the restaurant at half capacity due to COVID restrictions. Everything is served on/in disposable plates and cups. Pros: Cool setting if you like hanging out, drinking or eating outside. Great view of the river. Prices aren't terrible. Cons: The food is not good. Started off with "guacamole" but it was just smashed avocado with seasoning which didn't taste right. The chips are terrible. They were like dried out plain Doritos. I got the Caribbean Fish Tacos - the fish was huge, which is cool but the seasoning was terrible! I took a bite before I put it on my taco and it was like they poured salt onto it. I don't know what seasoning they used, but it ruined the fish. It was also dry. I used a heavy pour of the cream sauce on the tacos to try and cover it up. But literally everything on my plate had a strong seasoning to it, which made it all over powering (well except the cheese lol). I did not finish the meal. My bf got the Shrimp dinner - he said he didn't realize it was battered and fried (I did not read the menu so I don't know if he just missed it or not) but he said the batter was good. He felt the roll was unnecessary since it's literally a plate full of carbs lol. The fries were OK. Nothing too impressive about the dinner overall. Our server was OK. I wouldn't say friendly, but not rude either lol. Anyway... it's a cool concept, but the food needs work. It was just disappointing overall. If we went back, it would just be to have a few drinks in view of the river. read more

Naturally I am not a "Karen" and would never give attitude but... for lunch my family of 8 went and added ourselves to the wait list via yelp. Mind you it's Mother's Day and wanted to sit outside. When we were walked to our seat this is where things took a turn... 2 separate tables, can't be pushed together and not even close enough for conversating.. it's friken MOTHERS DAY and obviously that was not cool! When I spoke up the server said we would have to be put back on the waiting list for a bigger table and asking for the patio puts you at separate tables for a party of 8! Not made aware and no notification about it! I was heated and YES gave major tood. We waited way to long already. With the nasty attitude from the server and staff I was sure I couldn't sleep at night without this review. My family crowded around 1 little round patio table and made it work so Mom could enjoy lunch with her kids and not apart. We drove 45 minutes for this atmosphere to be by the river on this beautiful day. All Mom wanted was to spent time with her kids. Food was ok,didnt give us silverware, napkins or plates for appetizers, drinks were good. But lots of unhappy Moms as I looked around seeing similar issues. Our server also made us aware with her opinion that we would not eat comfortably at 1 table crowded around... well guess what... yall should think about that when trying to split family's up without telling us first. Ehhhh We asked to be on the lowest patio by the fence so we could see the river. We have never been here and are from out of state. We waited an hour and they put us in the second row and promptly seated 3 separate tables by the fence right after us. The service is so slow and they aren't overly slammed.
