We love the atmosphere at the Cabana on the River, great spot for a date night or an evening with the family.

This spot is great! Beautiful view of the river and fun atmosphere. Food and drink and really nice and the advice is super!

This place could be so cool, because that view on the lower deck is awesome. Unfortunately, nothing else is really great about it. Basic information: It's all outdoor seating, there is no "inside", just a covered section and an uncovered section. There is no beer on draught. Mostly domestic bottles and canned seltzer's, and liquor. Right now, once you check in with the host, you must go wait outside the gate of the restaurant until your table is ready (so in the parking lot). Something we thought was odd: you can buy an alcoholic drink at the bar before exiting the gate, while you wait for your table in the parking lot. You CANNOT brink that same drink back into the gate when your table is ready. Lol. Confusing. Pouring soft drinks and water from pitchers directly into the plastic cups people already drank out of. (During COVID or not, this is unsanitary) The wait for your food after you order is quite long, even with the restaurant at half capacity due to COVID restrictions. Everything is served on/in disposable plates and cups. Pros: Cool setting if you like hanging out, drinking or eating outside. Great view of the river. Prices aren't terrible. Cons: The food is not good. Started off with "guacamole" but it was just smashed avocado with seasoning which didn't taste right. The chips are terrible. They were like dried out plain Doritos. I got the Caribbean Fish Tacos - the fish was huge, which is cool but the seasoning was terrible! I took a bite before I put it on my taco and it was like they poured salt onto it. I don't know what seasoning they used, but it ruined the fish. It was also dry. I used a heavy pour of the cream sauce on the tacos to try and cover it up. But literally everything on my plate had a strong seasoning to it, which made it all over powering (well except the cheese lol). I did not finish the meal. My bf got the Shrimp dinner - he said he didn't realize it was battered and fried (I did not read the menu so I don't know if he just missed it or not) but he said the batter was good. He felt the roll was unnecessary since it's literally a plate full of carbs lol. The fries were OK. Nothing too impressive about the dinner overall. Our server was OK. I wouldn't say friendly, but not rude either lol. Anyway... it's a cool concept, but the food needs work. It was just disappointing overall. If we went back, it would just be to have a few drinks in view of the river. read more

My husband and I celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary in June and wanted to do something special to celebrate. Covid-19 made that a little challenging but we were thrilled to learn that Cabana on the River and its gorgeous outdoor seating was open. We were greeted by super friendly staff, and they used text messaging and an app to alert you when your table is ready, allowing you to wait in your car. Once seated, I ordered the Coconut Shrimp Basket, while my husband ordered the BBQ Chicken Sandwich, which comes on a pretzel bun. I would have liked to have ordered the Monkey Bread for dessert but we were a little full after all that food. Next time! I did, however, enjoy two wonderful glasses of Cupcake Moscato wine, which was just as delightful as the food. Yum! I highly recommend you drop into Cabana some evening for dinner. Great summertime place. Love the atmosphere and excellent view. You can choose to dine outside on the open deck or inside under the covered roof top. Friday and Saturday evenings they have decent bands that play great music Service is always friendly, but can sometimes be a bit slow as this place gets packed in the summertime weekend nights. My opinion of the food is that it is great bar food. From wings to fish sandwiches and salads. The beer here is ice cold! read more

Ehhhh We asked to be on the lowest patio by the fence so we could see the river. We have never been here and are from out of state. We waited an hour and they put us in the second row and promptly seated 3 separate tables by the fence right after us. The service is so slow and they aren't overly slammed. The pictures we have seen of the food looks like basic food from Sysco Foods like frozen and deep fried or grilled. Naturally I am not a "Karen" and would never give attitude but... for lunch my family of 8 went and added ourselves to the wait list via yelp. Mind you it's Mother's Day and wanted to sit outside. When we were walked to our seat this is where things took a turn... 2 separate tables, can't be pushed together and not even close enough for conversating.. it's friken MOTHERS DAY and obviously that was not cool! When I spoke up the server said we would have to be put back on the waiting list for a bigger table and asking for the patio puts you at separate tables for a party of 8! Not made aware and no notification about it! I was heated and YES gave major tood. We waited way to long already. With the nasty attitude from the server and staff I was sure I couldn't sleep at night without this review. My family crowded around 1 little round patio table and made it work so Mom could enjoy lunch with her kids and not apart. We drove 45 minutes for this atmosphere to be by the river on this beautiful day. All Mom wanted was to spent time with her kids. Food was ok,didnt give us silverware, napkins or plates for appetizers, drinks were good. But lots of unhappy Moms as I looked around seeing similar issues. Our server also made us aware with her opinion that we would not eat comfortably at 1 table crowded around... well guess what... yall should think about that when trying to split family's up without telling us first. My partner and I came on a busy Memorial Day and had a great server, Sarah. Unfortunately, the kitchen mistakenly added bacon to her grilled cheese where she specified no bacon. When served, we returned the grilled cheese and 30 seconds later the same food runner brought back the grilled cheese with bacon marks and grease and had simply pulled the bacon off, My partner is a strict vegetarian. This unacceptable and could really be dangerous with allergies and food restrictions. When asking for the manager, we were told 'there isn't one' and 'I'm what you got'. The issue was excused with the restaurant being busy and the sandwich was removed from our bill. While Sarah was friendly and apologetic, the experience was ruined. Cabana is an experience like no other. It's totally outdoor made up of an uncovered deck area along the river with umbrellas on the tables. Next is the covered area with protective curtains they can pull along the perimeter if needed. They have a full bar and varied menu with fun appetizers, variety of salads and a burger that is the best. Plenty of parking, outside seating by the parking lot to wait for a table or to just enjoy a drink. Those seats don't really have a river view. They have sand volleyball courts with an adjacent bar. It's only open spring through early fall and just opened for 2024 in mid April. Servers are great and food is good as well. We enjoy a Saturday lunch there. Gets crowded in the evening so go to website and scroll way down to put your name on waitlist. read more

Great outdoor casual bar/restaurant one the banks of the Ohio River. Very helpful to be able to put name on waiting list in advance, our table was ready about 10 mins after we arrived. Server was friendly and attentive. I had filet sandwich on rye and it was easily cut with the plastic knife and melted in your mouth. My partner had the Itailian Royal sandwich but asked for marinara sauce. The sandwich came out with the Itailian meats baked to a nice crispy brown edges and sandwich then baked. The location is lovely, as its right on the water, if you didn't know better, you might think you were in vacation. The drinks are cold and tasty. The service we received however was odd (the waitress seemed uninterested and a bit out of it) and the food was just ok (Though the 8 year old with the group proclaimed her grilled cheese was one of the best she's ever eaten) It's a bit of a drive for us, so not a place worth trekking out to, but maybe every once in awhile for something different.... Right next to the restaurant however, is a pretty big, super nice park with a fantastic playground area. We enjoyed a short walk around the park and spent time at the playground after we ate, so if you do make the trip, its worth it for a gun day out with kids. read more
