The food, the service and ambience were the best! Love the Cabana! I always get a vacation feel when I'm there.

Salads are plentiful. Top a salad with their Filet and it is large enough for two people. The appetizer cheese sticks is plentiful -- a count of 8. The fried pickles are salty to enjoy with a cold beer. Staff were attentive but not over bearing. River view is perfect. Or you can be on covered patio and still see the river but be out of the sun. Plenty of parking. I recommend this place. read more

First time for the year and it sucked! Came down at 4:00 thinking we would have no problem and waited and waited because they want the big groups plenty of open tables but a party of 4 not able to sit at the tables for 6. People left because the wait was so long. read more

We decided to try them out because it was such a nice day to be outside. It's an odd restaurant set up with outdoor seating and then sheltered seating. There are multiple bars around the property, but none of them were open. I don't know why none of them were open, since there were a few hundred people there and the main bar was shoulder to shoulder people, so you couldn't order a drink. There were lots of people waiting for tables, but the turnover was pretty quick. We ordered the pretzels with cheese and the cheese sticks for appetizers. Neither one of which is anything special. I ordered the beef tenderloin sandwich, it wasn't great. Two big chunks of meat on marbled rye was annoying, having one of them be very tender while the other was tough and chewy just made me angry. The rye separates instantly between the dark and light swirls, so it doesn't make for a great sandwich bread. The raw onions were just haphazardly strewn across the whole basket. The fries are not memorable in any way. We got the chicken tenders and fries. The chicken was dry and chewy. The kids cheeseburger meal is two little sliders. They come just bread, meat, cheese, and they were dry. It seems like a fun place if you're all about drinking by the river, but the food was pretty mediocre. read more

Cabana on the River is entirely outdoors. Most of the seating is under cover. The tables closest to the river have umbrellas to protect patrons from the sun. Because all seating is outdoors, Cabana on the River is only open Spring(ish) through Fall(ish). I am not sure there are exact dates. A quick check at their website didn't offer additional insight. I do know this year it closed toward the end of September and.. I look forward to it opening again next year. The river views are nice and eating alfresco is always nice. I ordered the Cobb Salad with Salmon. Oh my goodness, I was surprised at how delicious it was! It was fresh, the salmon was perfectly cooked, the dressing on the side was a great accompaniment. It's always smart to get dressing on the side else one's salad becomes a dressing boat. Cabana on the River is close to home. We will definitely be back next year. read more

Our group from the Y are at Cabana on the River today. I had a mettwurst sandwich with fries. I found the sausage to be of higher quality than I'm used to. Some of the group had salads that they raved about and many people had to take home leftovers because of the awesome portions. Our server was friendly, fast , and efficient. We usually come here 2 to 3 times every summer while they are open. read more

We were 31st on the wait list at 2:30 PM, which was no problem, so we went to the bar for a drink while we waited. My wife ordered a non-alcoholic beverage, and I had a draft beer that totaled $6.50. Since the minimum charge limit was $10, I offered to make up the difference with a $3.50 tip. Instead of accepting, the waitress curtly told me I would need to open a tab. I had no cash, so that was my only option. What was disappointing wasn't the policy itself, but the attitude. The waitress was not friendly, and in a busy place like this, a little kindness goes a long way. That lack of basic courtesy took away from what could have been an enjoyable outing. I will still tip, but the interaction soured the experience, and I will not return unless my wife specifically asks. It is unfortunate that so much effort goes into running a restaurant, yet one unfriendly employee can ruin the atmosphere. Basic people skills should be the easiest part of hospitality. read more

Perfect weather makes Cabana on the River a must experience. Dining outdoors beside the beautiful Ohio River was such a relaxing experience . The food is awesome and the service is quick. Highly recommend the fries chicken sandwich with a side of waffle sweet potato fries. You may have to wait for a table, but it is soooo worth it. read more

We wanted a river view for lunch, and we found it here! Unfortunately it was chilly this day, so we sat inside behind the plastic windbreaker. Already looking forward to returning on a nice day to sit outside. Since it was chilly, I had white chili for lunch and it was one of the better versions I've ever eaten. My date had fish and chips, and it was well done too. The only drawback is the plastic plates and utensils (as others have mentioned.) That's not a deal breaker but come on.... Service and prices were good. View was priceless. And it looks like they have live music on the weekends. I could get into that! read more

This place is a really nice spot on the Ohio River. It's a fun casual place to grab a drink and the atmosphere is great, but the food leaves a little to be desired... The good: Filet Kabobs are tender and perfectly cooked. Fried pickles are unique with a Wasabi Ranch that we loved. The Bad: The rice pilaf and vegetables that come with the filet kabobs are soft and soggy, with no texture to compliment the meat. The shrimp baskets and platters are decent, but come with Fries and "Sweet Baby Rays" sauces and other such packaged food/commissary feel. It's basically bar food pretending to be like you'd get at a beach restaurant. Frozen drinks are great and cocktails are a great pour. Everything we've tried on service recommendation was good, and kid-friendly frozen drinks are available if your kids are like mine and want their own! All of the negatives would be forgiven if the pricing wasn't similar to a vacation beach shack in the tourist traps anywhere on the coast, but I expect more for my money in west Cincinnati. It really is a special location and a fun hang, and there's nothing else like it along the River or anywhere in the greater Cincinnati area. Give it a shout if you like vibe over value. read more

One of my favorite summer dining places because of the service, food and location. It's right on the Ohio river and the ambiance couldn't be better. They have an outdoor deck seating area and a covered area for inclement weather. The menu has a lot of nice selections and the food is very good. The service is fast and courteous. Prices are reasonable and portion sizes are more than adequate. Full bar with a nice selection of beers on tap. Free parking in their lot. It's popular so it can get crowded, especially on the weekends. Highly recommended. I had the Spinach Salad ($9) with Grilled Cajun Shrimp ($9) and would definitely order it again but there's lots of other tasty food on the menu including their excellent Fish & Chips ($16). read more

Nothing fancy to see here, but if you're hungry you can eat. Cabana has hangover/bowling alley food. I had the turkey burger , it comes with chips but I went for the fries for the up charge. The wings were like a pre breaded but I requested well done and they were good. The server was spot on and the place got busy quick! It's family friendly and they do not take reservations.( as you can guess) . It's very lax and chill and have volley ball and boat deck pull up. This is a great mid day drink snack stop. read more
