Had a work lunch/celebration, a fairly common thing for us to go here. They always accommodate our party size. The food is as described, a TexMex style with a good variety of foods. I went with the "Speegy Gonzales" and it was the perfect amount of food, very tasty. Our server handled our party of 12 with no problem. We love Cabanas! They have the BEST queso and large portions every time! We've dined in and gotten takeout and the food stays consistent even when you take it home. Highly recommend any of their burritos, their fajitas (specifically the fajita fundidas), and their poncho platter appetizer! Tonight my husband got a huge steak wet burrito, I got the build your own combo and chose a chicken quesadilla (so good) and a steak burrito with added queso over top, it's a great price considering how much food you get. We also ordered chorizo con queso and bunelos! If you love queso, get it here! I could swim in it lol. We've never had the bunelos before and really liked them; they're a Mexican elephant ear topped with cinnamon sugar and honey drizzle. Delish! We will be back! This is our favorite local restaurant in the area!!! They have amazing tacos, birria, carnitas, everything; you name it. Drinks are huge and always strong as well. The restaurant was all decked out for Cinco de Mayo. My husband had the shrimp tacos, which were amazing and I had a create your own meal where I could pick two things off of a list of many. I picked the stuffed poblano pepper. And a beef burrito the meal also came with rice and beans and a little salad on the side, it was very good. Our waiter was very attentive and was on top of getting us what we needed. I always enjoy going to Cabana Teresa Amigos, and I highly recommend them. I finally got the opportunity to try out this place! I did a takeout order and it was fast and super hot even when I got home! I loved their chips and cheese dip, the chips were fresh and warm, and the cheese dip was creamy and fresh as well! I ordered their beef enchilada with rice, the enchilada was great and the sauce is not too spicy but not too sweet! I got the chance to try their chicken tamale, it was great as well! Chicken was not dry, and perfectly seasoned. Their house made salsa was a little on the spicier side, however still great! I definitely will be back next time I'm in the area! read more

One of our new favorite spots to go to for Mexican food! My husband always likes to get the "Build your own combo", where you get to choose two items. This combo comes with a side of rice, beans, lettuce, sour cream, and pico. Husband usually gets some combination of Burritos, Empanadas, Tostadas, or Gorditas. The great thing about this combo is that it's a hefty amount of food for a great price! They don't cut down on portion sizes, so the burrito isn't mini, the tostada isn't thin, the gordita is stuffed, etc. I always love getting the Guisado Guajillo ($11.99) - Diced grilled chicken breast and chunks of seasoned pork tossed in a creamy guajillo sauce served with rice, beans and tortillas. I haven't been able to find this anywhere else, so it's my go to item to get whenever we come here. If you like spice, make sure you order their Cabana's Hot Reaper. It is extremely spicy, but has robust flavors. read more

I met coworkers here for lunch so there were 14 of us. They were able to easily accommodate a large group. The waitress was very nice and provided service with a smile. I was a bit overwhelmed by the menu. I finally settled on the Ceviche Tacos. They were delicious. Perfect amount of flavor and quantity. My boyfriend and I searched on Yelp for a place to meet his parents after a football game they were attending at East Kentwood high school. Cabana Tres Amigos popped up and Mexican food sounded great. There's plenty of parking in the little strip mall area where the restaurant is located. We got there for an early dinner, around 4 pm on a Saturday. By the time we were leaving, there were quite a few people there so I am guessing it's a popular place. Lots of families with kids. Our server Elizabeth was wonderful! She was attentive and super polite and friendly. There was a bit of a mix up with a burrito that someone else at another table ordered and the burrito that my boyfriend's dad ordered, and she was very apologetic and genuine when trying to make it right, which I thought was great. Elizabeth was prompt with water refills and checked on us throughout our meal. I'm guessing the Yelpers with comments about slow/poor service didn't have Elizabeth as a server! The food was wonderful! The menu is large and full of all the normal Mexican specialties, as well as some more traditional dishes that I hadn't seen before. I ordered the rancheras cinco, a plate of five different enchiladas (ground beef, shredded beef, shredded chicken, bean and cheese). They come topped with cheese, sour cream, lettuce, pico de gallo, guacamole and ranchero sauce. It's a huge plate for only $11, and is basically an enchilada flight! The enchiladas were delicious and full of flavor. The shredded beef was definitely my favorite, with big chunks of tender beef. My boyfriend ordered the burrito roqueta, which is a pork burrito topped with cheese, red sauce, and pico de gallo. It came with rice. The pork inside was super juicy, tender, and full of flavor. I kept stealing bites because it was so good. The pork was really rich but the red sauce gave it a little bit of acidity. I would definitely order either of our dishes again. I'm so glad we got to try this place. It's out of the way from where we normally go out but I'd come back again next time we're in the area. read more

One of our go to spots for Mexican food; if you're in the mood definitely give them a try, you won't be disappointed! Service is always fast but I still suggest trying their massive margaritas, hopefully you catch during happy hour specials because otherwise they're a little pricey but delicious nonetheless. I like the jalapeño infused marg. Anyway, check out the food photos but you can't go wrong- I typically get the nachos and my wife likes anything fajita style. Attended a birthday party consisting of at least 40 people - they have a back room that can accomodate. The service was outstanding! Luis B. and another young lady were primarily in charge of the room. Water was refilled without asking, drinks were refilled, chips and salsa refilled, orders came out hot and correct and they even let everyone have their own bill . . . .the food was very good. I was impressed. The acoustics are terrible in that little room . . .that's the only complaint. Again, definite shout out to outstanding service!!! read more

Having two bartenders to make drinks for the restaurant, tend to a 15 person bar, and doing takeout on a Friday night is diabolical. I hope it's just a staffing shortage and not a management strategy. Food was sub par, bartenders were gorgeous and did the best they could. read more

Flavor explosion! The salsa they give you to wet your appetite was the best salsa we've ever had. And we've been to many a Mexican restaurants. My baby was practically drinking it. We got the burrito ranchero, the Texas something, and the steak burrito, plus kids plates. Boy, oh boy, it tasted amazing. The chicken brought me back to the authentic stuff near the border. The steak was perfectly seasoned. The sauce on the burrito ranchero was phenomenal. The waiter was super shy and quite and came around as frequently as you would expect from a 3 star restaurant but some of us were also used to the city pace. We had to track him down for boxes and the bill. But the food was fantastic and we didn't really need much after the first bite. read more

Mom wanted Mexican food for Mother's Day's so we decided to go to Cabana Tres Amigos, as we used to go there quite often "pre-COVID." Mom, Dad, my wife and I arrived around 4:30 PM and beat the dinner crowd, so it wasn't too busy. We were seated quickly and our server brought menus and 1 basket of chips and 1 cup of salsa pretty quickly. And that's where the good experience ended. The server came to our table without telling us her name. She took three of our drink orders, which consisted of 2 waters, and a lemonade. When I asked what they had on tap, our server said she would have to check. About 4 minutes later, she returned and I ordered a beer. She then left. 5 minutes later, she returned with our drinks, and left. The waitress came back a few minutes later and said nothing at first. She just stared at us. Now she was wearing a mask so I get it that communication can be a little challenging but it just seemed strange. As there was conversation a the table, I wasn't ready to order yet but by this time, most of the chips were gone so my wife ordered another basket and I stated we should be ready to order when she came back. The waitress returned a couple minutes later and we ordered 2 chicken fajitas, a vegetarian fajita, and a shredded beef wet burrito. She did not have the chips, she didn't ask how we were doing with regards to drinks, and left to put in our order. About 10 minutes later, the waitress returned with the fajitas and wet burrito. She did not have the sides for the fajitas and went back to get them. As she was leaving, my dad ordered another lemonade. She returned quickly with the fajita sides and said she would be back with the lemonade. The food looked okay. The fajitas were served in what can only be described as large bowls, not sizzling on an iron plate like most restaurants. And the waitress had her thumb on the inside of the lip of the bowls! The fajitas can only be described as looking "wet." They looked more like they were stir fried instead of grilled traditionally. My wet burrito was lukewarm at best and instead of shredded beef, it had grey chunks of meat in it. Once everyone tried their food, the consensus was, "Did they run out of spices???" The food was bland at best. The fajitas had no traditional flavor, the rice and refried beans had no "umphh." Most peculiar was the vegetarian fajitas. The menu indicated they were to contain grilled mushrooms and "a delicious blend of mixed vegetables." There were no mushrooms, but there were carrots, snow peas, and broccoli. Sounds like they used a bag of mixed vegetables from the freezer section of your local grocery! The waitress came by and asked about the food so I pointed out that the food was bland and that my burrito didn't have shredded beef, just chunks. She took out her ordering tablet, said she ordered shredded beef and left. When the waitress did return, she dropped off the bill. No chips, no explanation on the order mixup. No apology. We asked for a couple containers, packed up our food, navigated around the table (empty plates were never picked up) and left. All in all, a disappointing experience. read more

I ordered the Burrito Roqueta and could not eat it because it was way to spicy, and I like spicy. The menu did not say anything about the burrito having spice. It also came out warm, not hot. The plate was hotter than the food. I let the waitress know and she just asked if I was going to eat it and then charged me for it. On the way out I let the manager know and he indicated that it should not be very spicy, but did nothing about being charged for a meal I couldn't eat. read more

I have eaten here before and normally find it to be an excellent place for really good food. I had a recent experience that fell a little short of that expectation, but I will not let that one time experience color my view. The queso dip with chorizo is fantastic. And I have a personal affinity for the seafood enchiladas. Their salsa has some attitude, but not so bad you lose your tastebuds. My bad experience came with a shrimp soup I recently tried. It is in an incredibly fishy smelling broth and not only did I not care for it, but the aroma was so strong it seemed to attach to everything on the table. So I don't recommend that soup.
