I love Cabelas! When I walk in I am immediately drawn to the forest of fishing poles because I'm a fisher person ;) But that's not all the have! They have so much camping gear! Big tents... little tents... half tents( seriously it looks like an umbrella on its side). I bought a chair that has a canopy over it, and you can fold the chair up and just carry it in a bag with a strap... it doesn't weigh much at all! So awesome! Cast iron cookware, they have every piece, from the big cooking pot to the little ashtray:) Hiking gear, archery things, the sign says it all Hunting Fishing Camping ... there's one more that I forget :) oops! Oh , kayaks! I know it's El Paso and we're in the desert, but there are some places to kayak. I don't...yet! I go back to the gun store and there's two guys talking back there and one guy behind the counter who is talking to someone who hasn't looked at a firearm in 20 minutes so I left on the way out. First time shopping at Cabela's. We came looking here looking for dark chocolate coffee, but did not find any at all. Disappointed. The website listed it in stock. I needed some new ones but couldn't spend too much time traveling to find some so we called ahead to make sure they had some. The person who answered the phone was extremely helpful and went out of his way to check their inventory and look at specific models. When we got to Cabela's they had someone at the front who points you where you need to go which was helpful. The person who helped us with the binoculars was obviously very knowledgeable. He showed us different models, explained the differences, and more. The prices were also very reasonable for the quality of binoculars you get. I got a good pair that I've been very happy with so far. When we were checking out, we asked the cashier for a food recommendation and he said Carnitas Queretaro, which ended up being super good. read more

Went to Cabela's today for a scheduled socially distanced Santa visit. They were very good with making sure we knew the rules. They checked us in and took our temperature, then we went in a separate line so that the rest of the store can shop. There were hand sanitizers everywhere and Santa was behind a plexiglass AND had on a face shield. He was a little hard to understand, but we managed, they only took off our masks to tell him what they wanted for Christmas. The spirit of Christmas was still there and my children believed. We got a cute photo and will buy the Santa package when we go back and take a family photo with hubby. Afterwards they gave us a little cute package with a letter the kids can write on and mail to Santa and the mailbox was on the side. Super cute setup. I felt safe and they were well trained. I have been buying guns from Cabela's in El Paso, Texas for several years, and I thought that they gave me good service until recently. I purchased a Ruger LC Carbine on-line and had it delivered to the El Paso store for pick up. When I went to pick up the gun I showed my Texas "License to Carry" and filled out the FFL paperwork. Just before they handed me the gun, someone in the Gun Department Office shouted out "He's been flagged!" I asked them why I had been "Flagged", but they would not give me an answer. The next day I talked to the manager of the Gun Department, and he also told me that he did not know why I was "Flagged". I talked to the Store Manager two days later, and he also told me that he did not know why I was "Flagged"! I found this situation very suspicious, so the next day I went to Academy Sports and purchased a firearm with no problems! I will NEVER do business with Cabela's again! read more

Phew!! Grand opening and a half! For the much anticipated store of the year, i can honestly say that it lived up to its expectations with some set backs. Dont get me wrong, the whole place looked pretty damn good and a plethora of employees available to help. They had a beautiful display of everything, including shoes, crossbows, camping gear, clothes, ammo section looked like a prestigious library for crying out loud. All that new, fancy electronic advertisement pillars that change throughout the day. Majestic looking deer all over place for decoration, the way Bass Pro Shops would look. Everything an outdoor body needs all packed into this brilliantly built store. So why the 4 stars? Perhaps because the influx of people ultimately made the whole experience less magical and made the place feel like they underestimated how much merch they should have jam packed in this limited building. Maybe the fact that their ammo prices were atrocious and that about 80% of their firearms were out in the open with no guards to prevent lil kids from grabbing them and inevitably drop them. Or might have been the 10 different cork guns that kept going off all over the store by undisciplined kids. Whatever the reason, today was a huge let down for us. Most employees could barely recall what time the store closes, let alone what the price matching policy is. I think the only plus for Cabelas is being the biggest outdoor world store that is comparable to Bass Pro Shop since they were bought out by them and trying to live up to Bass Pros standards. They also had some fresh fudge supposedly but nothing like Bass Pros fudge shop. They do have a lil snack shack that serves freshly roasted nuts! So the store smells like the holidays already! That plus a 5% military discount lol. Not much, but we'll take it! We hope to catch it later after working out some kinks and the mass rush of people die down. The best part tho? They can spool your line for $FREE.99!!! Thats a huge win in itself and totally redeemed itself for all the screwy parts they still gotta work out. read more

Wowzerz. If you're an outdoor activity and/or gun enthusiast, then this is your dream come true. Cabela's has TOND of awesome gear for camping, hunting, and fishing. I generally hate shopping, but I can get lost in Cabela's and not even realize than an hour has passed. The Cabela's brand items tend to be competitively priced and high quality. The inventory of knives and guns is especially impressive. The workers are really friendly and helpful, and asked us if we needed any help or had any questions a few times in different areas of the store. They did this without being creepy or hovering; they genuinely have excellent customer service. The customers are nice folks as well. To make the experience even more pleasant, there are cool mountings of animals, great tunes playing on the loudspeaker, and the bathrooms are very clean and well maintained. This store is so small, nothing like the usual big stores. The employees were friendly at the entrance however shortly after we arrived they had an test with sirens screaming really loud for several minutes. The employee said it was just a test. It stopped for a few minutes and then started again. We walked out without finishing our browsing. They should do the siren tests before shoppers arrive. read more

Cabela's use to be my favorite store and I've spent a lot of time and money there and I would have given it 5 stars. But no more. I went in to see if they had a Mossberg Shockwave shotgun. I was told they did not and because it hadn't been legal in Texas long enough, they won't sell it. I asked if I ordered it from another vendor and they sent to Cabela's, how much would that be. I was told it would be $25.00. So I ordered it and had it shipped to Cabela's for my background check. It arrived and after going in, they said it was being processed, got my ID's and I proceeded going through the background check. After completing my paperwork and passing my check, and spending about an hour due to some delays, I was told they decided not deliver my gun that I'd already paid for. I was told it was their policy that they didn't sell that particular gun. What? I had already bought it and paid for it, including taxes. I was there ONLY to do the background check. I asked to talk to management. The first one I talked to seem to agree with me and said he'd make some calls. Then the store manager came out and said, sorry, we will not deliver your gun due to Cabela's policy, which wasn't violated! Again, There policy was not to sell it, and they didn't. I'd already bought it. Plus, they reneged on our agreement. The manager didn't want to hear it and said they'd ship it back to the seller. That IS NOT how you take care of a customer, by not honoring your word, and by showing disrespect. He could have fixed this easily and saved a customer by doing the right thing, but he made no effort. Not to mention the hassle I had fixing this with the original seller. Due to that, I will no longer patronize Cabela's. As a PS, I was buying a new gun safe on Saturday at Cabela's, but Acadamy has the same one, cheaper, and I'll pick it up Monday. read more
