The customer service at the Farmington location was above and beyond. Greeted, helped, they were friendly and courteous all the way around. They looked online for stuff, called the Lehi store, etc. The staff was great. The selection, however... where's all the stuff!? I bought one item there... was going to order another online, and the other was just out of stock everywhere. I ended up at Scheel's cuz I couldn't find what I needed there. And I did great, there, too, because they'll price match Cabela's. Sad day for Cabelas. Their staff is doing all they can with what they've been given. Someone re-order and re-stock! read more

It is baffling to me how a retail chain this big misses the mark by so far on the most critical, and simple aspect of retail sales. CUSTOMER SERVICE. This review wasn't triggered by a single bad experience- every single time that I have ever been in this Cabela's, it has been a struggle to find help, and when you finally find someone who is willing to talk to you, they are either rude, act put-out or simply are undereducated on the product that they're trying to sale. I bought a pair of binoculars from Cabelas that had a lifetime warranty. On their website it STILL shows the binoculars with a lifetime warranty and says to return to store or ship in for repair or exchange. Binoculars quit focusing ($400 binoculars) so I took them into Cabelas in Farmington. They said that they "discontinued" the lifetime warranty (AFTER I bought them) so I was out of luck. They gave me the 800 number to call and said that they were losing a lot of Customers because of this policy. I called the 800 number and after talking with them and being on hold for more than 30 minutes, they confirmed that they changed their policy and I now have a $400 paperweight. read more

Worst customer service on the sales floor I've ever experienced at any store. I was there a little over an hour and was passed by at least 10 employees not helping other customers not one offered to help me. I asked one for help and was pointed in the direction but no follow up was offered. If you know what you're looking for and have no additional questions on a product the store has a decent inventory. I've been avoiding this place solely because the damage it could do to my pocketbook. My husband and I never escape Cabela's without dropping a pretty penny since Cabela's is typically outdoors heaven. However, I must say, we left pretty disappointed. The location is smaller than I expected. We were immediately met by a pushy employee trying to get us to sign up for a credit card, but yet we never once had an employee come up to us and ask if we needed help in a single department. We spent a good portion of time looking at different backpacking gear and hiking shoes, but not once did anybody see if we had any questions. Utah is full of great outdoors stores plus there are tons of places to online shop and be able to price match and read reviews... I'm not so sure you'll see us stop in here again unless we are needing something quick for a specific trip. I pass this location every time I go to my parents' house which is pretty frequent, so it's disappointing that such a convenient location was such a large letdown. read more

Today I came in close to closing to purchase some fly tying materials... this will be the last I ever step foot in a cabelas store. I'm tired of going in to the store and the limited knowledge the staff has on the merchandise. The retail staff is always wanting and willing to help but they don't know basic knowledge of the departments they work in. The young lady at the cash register was rude and rushed me (it was closing time) did not ask me if I wanted to round up for conservation and she made a mistake and rang me in for something incorrectly and said come back tomorrow and customer service will fix it. The problem isn't the employees themselves, it's that the store doesn't care about their people. Cabelas doesn't care to educate and invest in their employees or their work culture to have them finish work until all the customers have gone. For now on I will pay a little more or less for better service and knowledge from specialty stores or sportsmans warehouse or gear 30 in Ogden. read more

Where do I start? In this hard times of pandemic, this store is in vacation, when is about Covid 19! NOBODY IS WEARING MASKS! Customers coughed and coughed and coughed between isles, no mask required, keep coughing, trying to jump caution tape to look for a gun, not follow any procedures! Gentlemen employer wiping his nose (btw he seems having a type of cold) helping a customer at the counter purchasing a gun, doing paper work, computer work etc. between more wiping. Not one sanitizing station at the counter in the gun section of the store. Filling paperwork, working at the computer, still nothing to clean my hands! Truth to be told, the only sanitizing station was at the entry, just a big bottle with a role of napkins. Take that for a change! Sitting on a table at the main entry! I mean the management seems to care, caution tapes at the gun station, waiting area for customers, with marked spots for social distancing. But nobody to enforce it! I mean I understand they are short handed, but guess what?!! I am too! I own a construction company and I don't have enough employees or contracts for that matter! Tough year, but this is the time when good companies are coming BIG!! Protecting the customers! I had never felt more vulnerable health wise, into a place like I felt at Cabela Farmington store! Let me tell you more. Second day I went to a tire store. Open bays, open working areas, and still workers are caring face masks, gloves, social distancing etc. I count at least 5 sanitizing station. Cabela's in Farmington should be very proud of their employees (Kelly in maintenance and a sweet young lady collecting carts (unfortunately did not get her name) They are very lucky to have such kind staff! They went above and beyond for us. Couldn't be more grateful for the help Kelly (in maintenance) and this sweet young lady gave us. They saw we were having car issues and came to help immediately, without question. We were from out of state, it was almost closing and our battery completely died. They tried to help jump it, but when that didn't work. Kelly went and checked out (seeing how it was closing time) and gave me a ride to buy a new battery. He stayed and helped to make sure we were good to go before he left us. He would not except anything from us for the help and even gave us a tub of pretzels. So grateful to see there are still very kind people willing to help a stranger in need. Thank you both so very much! God Bless! read more

The only reason I give this store 2 stars is, it is Cabela's!!! And I love shopping at these store's. BUT, their is definitely something wrong with the attitudes of the employee's at this store. First, when you have 40 yards of gun counter space, it would be wise to have more than 1 or 2 people working at the counter. If you are going to only use 2 people to work the gun counter, cut it down to 10 yards of gun counter. Second, if I cant get any help at the gun counter because only two people are working. How about break up the mob of employee's that are always just hanging out BSing at the front of the store. Who is the store manager, where is the store manager, would someone please wake him up and tell him what's going on there. Anyone can see this problem. Cabela's online ordering and customer service sucks! Ordered an item, followed their online order tracking. Stated that item shipped and it would take 4-7 business days to receive. Item never showed up. 2 weeks later I get an email from my CC company stating I received a refund of the purchase price. Never heard anything from Cabela's and it still says item shipped online. Called customer service. She said the manufacturer ran out of the item and basically I was screwed. Nothing ever changed on the online tracking. Not willing to try to work with me on buying a similar item. Told to go online(Cabela's) and see if I could find another unit on sale. No can do. I'm just SOL. Asked to speak to a Supervisor and was on hold for 10 minutes waiting. Agent came back online and said they were really busy. So I asked her to have someone return my call. NOPE. Seriously can no at this store help the customers?Went to go look at some work boots, the one sales associate, saw us, but never greeted us. Never said, "I'll be with you in a moment." Finally, after like ten minutes he came up and asked us what boots we wanted to try on. While he was talking to us another customer interrupted us and asked a question. To which the employee didn't say anything to the effect of I'll be right with you, let me get their boots first. He carried on a full conversation with her to answer her question, five minutes! Then after that he started to walk away. We reminded him that we were still there. He wasn't happy to help us. Got one of the boots we were gonna try on and he left and never came back. We tried on the one pair and left. If I didn't have a gift card to use I would never step foot in this store! And the pushy credit card thing is true. The lady at nut roasting cart even asked! I don't understand why they even have an archery department. I took my bow there to get new strings ordered and put on. The first time I went there I left my bow and my information since the archery tech didn't know how to order strings and I was told they would call me and could take my payment over the phone. I get a call a few days later from a different sale associate telling me that they cant take my payment over the phone and I need to come in to purchase the strings. So, I drive an hour to the store to purchase the string just to find out that the archery associate doesn't know how to take my payment. A manager was able to figure out how take my payment but she had no sense of customer service! Three weeks later... I get a call from an archery tech that my bow is ready and I could go in at anytime to get the final adjustments completed. I drive an hour to the store for the third time now. I went the night the associate called me just to get there and not have an archery tech working to assist me with getting my bow back and making the final adjustments. I made them give me my bow and took my bow to Scheels for their sales associates to help me. I had a great experiencing with the Scheels associates!! I will never return to this Cabelas... Horrible customer service and consistently doesn't have anyone working in the archery department. read more

Here's the deal. We all make mistakes, it's what happens after the mistake is made that matters. Asked Cabela's to hold an item for me until the morning. Cabela's policy is no holds-corporate should look at being more like Home Depot and letting you buy online and pick up at the store shortly after. Regardless this store must follow corporate policy. I get there and the item has been sold out from under me. This is a tent that was being taken to the Standing Rock Tribe in South Dakota protesting the pipeline. It was $499 down to $399. The manager, Tony, walks over and grabs a comparable Cabela's brand tent that was not on sale and discounts it at a greater rate than the other tent was discounted. It was an AMAZING deal and he said it was due to the inconvenience of driving there to be disappointed. Now my friend, that is customer service! This store gets the highest rating plus some. Tony gets manager of the year. If corporate Cabelas would take a lesson on customer service and change their policies this whole incident could have been avoided.
