This store is entirely crap. If I could give 0 stars I would do that. I waited for over half an hour to purchase a used firearm and they wouldn't even let me test the gun saying they couldn't let the customer to put anything including a snap cap in the chamber. That gun is famous for its extractor issue so I have to test it before I make the purchase. I gave up and left. Wasted my 45 minutes on nonsense. read more

Cabelas use to be my go to store for anything hunting related. Unfortunately, this is no longer the case. Since the bass pro takeover, the Cabelas has gone straight downhill. Today took the cake though. I went in to exchange a Sitka jacket I received for Christmas. I went to the camo department to find nothing but medium sized clothing. I went to go find an associate to help me with order what I was wanting. After 30 minutes she showed up, led me to a kiosk that I had already tried using. I tried to explain to her that what I was wanting wasn't showing up. She blew me off, and said "just type it in and order it here". So I typed it in, and turned around to show her my problem, only to see she left. I went to the service desk, and requested to see a manager, to which I was told there were none working. I then asked for a cash refund because I didn't want to spend a dime in their store, and they also refused unless I brought in the credit card of the person that bought the gift. Now, I've got a $190 gift card to a place that won't give me an answer as to when they will have the product I'm trying to buy! I will also be contacting Sitka! They are extremely customer oriented, and it's a shame their product is in a store that doesn't care about the customer at all. read more

Shopping here feels like you are at the department of revenue getting your plates renewed. So slow and uncaring. I picked out guns to buy after picking a number and waiting for help. That wasn't too long but then I went to get cleared to purchase and only one person was working. This was on a Wednesday afternoon at 2:00. Why was there only one person but 6 stations? Just lost a long time customer because of Janet in the Gun department. I live 2 hours alway I've been calling 2 weeks to talk with someone in the gun department and they would never pick up the phone after a dozen phone calls. So I make the 2 hour drive and encounter the rudest help from Janet in the Gun department. When comparing prices to academy sports she told me to go to Academy sports and smiled and waved at me in front of multiple customers in the most sarcastic manor I've ever seen someone do in customer service. So that's exactly what I did went to academy sports and got a way batter deal and customer help that was appreciated. I own my own businesses and would never ever think to treat someone that way I will tell as many people that I encounter that academy sports has better deals. Absolute waste of my time, at first I walked in and couldn't get our gun checked in because a staff member kept pushing about their club card when I said no 15 times. I had bought a used Ruger GP100 a week before and it would not fire correctly and we were within Cabela's 10 day warranty and brought it back to return it and was met with a staff member in the gun library and it turned out to be a manager who tried to tell me I would have to wait to have it sent in for repair. I specifically asked about the refund and was met with a dodging reference saying we'd have to wait to get it looked at. Which at this point was tying up 600 dollars over a gun I can't have in my hands and no longer want, of all people the manager should respect what I wanted. I asked about a specific return for my money back because I didn't want it and the manager told me I wouldn't get a tax break for it and it'd be a waste of time and I told him I was done waiting and he left me and got another assistant to help us who asked me in a sarcastic tone "So you couldn't find anything else here that you wanted?" And then finally gave us our money back. I will never come to a Cabela's again... read more

This is a super impressive place to go if you need anything that involves the outdoors or even cooking most types of food. Their hunting and fishing sections are top notch and there are tons of things to buy and look at. If you spend an hour there you wont see it all. If I'm in the market for clothes, hunting or fishing supplies this is the first place that I go to because of the selection and quality of what you get for your money. The only bad thing that I have found for this place is that if you don't watch it you will spend tons of money there because of all the stuff that's available. Absolute HORRIBLE experience. Memorial Day sale started today. The store had TWO employees behind the gun counter. My spouse and i stood with a number in hand nearly an entire hour before being told by staff that we may as well leave because they closed in five minutes, DESPITE our waiting for 50 minutes. If I could give a zero I would. First let me say that this is not about the products of which I have bought from Cabela's, it's about the customer service. Better yet, the lack of customer service! I bought a rifle and scope and arrived on a Monday afternoon to do a background check and free scope mounting which according to Cabela's apparently takes almost 2 hours! The attitude of the employees is to blame the management, which they proudly and verbally expressed to me. Not, "I'm sorry, let me see what the hold up is." I will NEVER again spend my money at Cabela's again. Not just in the Hazelwood location, but I had such a bad experience that this goes for any location in any state. Cabelas is a great Sporting Good Store. They have almost everything you could ever want or need. It is a one stop shop for all your sporting good needs. Their sales people and their customer service is phenomenal. It is one of the few stores that has sales people that know what they are talking about when it comes to the products they sell. The customer service is terrible in the gun dept. I tried to purchase a DPMS Oricle rifle from this store. What a nightmare. On 11-28-18 I bought this gun. I paid for my rings and a scope that day. I did all the paper work for the feds that day. I had to wait for the paper work to come back. On 12-08-18 I called the store and was told everything was fine. Just bring your rings and scope down, it would take about 15 minutes to put them on. I called because it is a 160 mile trip for me to go to the store. I get there about 12:00 noon. I walk in with my Cabela's sack with my scope and rings in it. The person did not put a sticker on it, he said just go on in with them. I questioned this and was told they don't do that anymore. Boy I sure am glad I also brought my receipt with me. By the time I get to the gun dept. there are just two people working. The number up was 21, I got number 30. Apparently the bulk of the people are on lunch break. The person beside me is upset about the service. Finally a woman comes out and calls for 22,23,24 with no response. Number 25 gets to go. after 30 minutes waiting my number comes up. The man gets my gun and tells me to go to another line. I go to another line where there are 4 other people waiting. One person there said he would rather go to a dentist and get an eye tooth pulled then pick up a gun from Cabela's. At 1:00 the stations start to get people in them, lunch is over. After another wait of 30 minutes I get called up. It is the same guy who went and got my gun. I give him my driver lic. and FOID card. He pulls up my name from the feds. There was a typo error in my middle name. There was an extra l in my middle name. spelled Millls instead of Mills. He gets the supervisor. The woman says I need to draw a line thru an l and initial it. No problem until she tells me she will have to send it back in. I thought this was ridiculous. I told her your person just made a typo error when they put it in the computer. Sorry she says we still have to send it in. I ask for $50 dollars for gas to cover my 160 mile trip. She says it would not cost that much to drive that distance. Now I'm getting mad, And I informed her if you pay me for what my time is worth she would have to give me the gun. I spent over $1000 on the 28th. I have spent 1000 of dollars in the past because of the customer service. I was afraid when Bass Pro bought out Cabela's things would change. Money first customer last. I told the lady to give my $293.15 back for the scope and rings. I had to have a receipt. Remember me saying I was glad I brought my receipt. They gave me my money back and I asked her "If I would not have had my receipt how would I have gotten out of the store without stickers on them. She said they would left me out. Boy I guess I could have put more in the bag going out to the front. I left the store very upset thinking I will get one more bill and pay it in full as I always do and send a cut up Cabela's card with the payment. All over a meager $50 dollars and Customer Service. I have not had to leave anything negative about any establishment on Yelp! until today. Went to pick up a firearm that I ordered and paid for online and entered the store around 10:37am on Saturday, 1/7/2017. I finalized my purchase and pickup and walked directly out of the store at 12:27pm. Almost 2 Hours of standing waiting for my number to be called just to confirm item had arrived and was correct at the gun counter, then off to another area to wait in line to actually receive my firearm. One gentleman interrupted an associate at the gun counter 20 minutes after I arrived and he was there before me and asked if they could get more people to help them or get a manager to help out and the associate told him he could go address his concerns with a manager at customer service. I had already seen a large line at customer service when I entered the store, so he must have seen that line as well when he went over to that side of the store and he just left. Many other people around me left as well as more and more showed up not knowing there was already a huge wait. The problem appears to be lack of proper management and older employees. The employees were super nice but are not able to keep up when it is 2 associated in their 60's to deal with 40 people waiting with numbers in their hand like they are at a DMV in the 1980's. There were elderly customer that were struggling to stand and wait for their order and not a chair or a helpful employee in sight to assist them. The actual time it took to interface with an associate was under 10 minutes total between the two areas so the process to purchase and pick up a firearm by missouri and federal law is not at fault, it is cabela's since they are far understaffed and management that cannot see and correct a clear problem. I am leaving this same message on the cabela's customer service website so maybe they can fix this for future customers. I will not be going to this store again and the only reason I chose cabela's was they has a firearm for $20 less than Gander Mountain. Next time I will pay more and go to Gander Mountain in Chesterfield, MO where I had already viewed the gun and had a very good experience. read more

We really enjoyed working with Chris in the shoe department. He was eager to help and offer advice but did not hover. I have called this store today 11/01/2017 to talk to someone about purchasing a Browning shotgun. I have called numberous time no one will pickup the phone to answer. I finally got hold of Kathy the operator after spending 40 minutes trying to get someone to answer the phone,. She collected me to gun sales it hung and hung no one will answer the phone in gun sales. After several days of unreturned phone calls I finally got ahold of Cabellas Hazelwood Gun Library to discuss a poetntial purchase of 2 guns. Terms were agreed upon and they arrived at my FFL in a few days. The 12g advertised with interchangable chokes came with modified modified. I guess they could be interchanged with each other so technically not misadvertised. The 28g came in case that was locked. Unable to reach Cabelas, I took it to a locksmith to be opened. Then I discovered the 12g was lefthanded. How could the Worlds Foremost Outfitter be so deceptive and unresponsive? I have had better luck dealing with a fly-by-night gundealer on Guns Internatoinal. I have made my last purchase from Cabelas. I recomend more customer service oriented retailers such as LL Bean, Kevins, Orvis or Dicks. read more

I tried to purchase a firearm online. Took many attempted phone calls and e-mails to finally get a response. Extremely poor response times. Was unable to coordinate a transfer of the firearm to a licensed FFL dealer even after providing all the relevant contact information. I finally drove the 500 miles to personally purchase the rifle I was after. Took a hour and half to complete the purchase. Only took 20 minutes to purchase a handgun at Cabelas in OKC. read more

I'd been pretty happy with Cabela's until I bought a big ticket (for me) item. Seven days later, I see another retailer (local) has it on sale. I take my receipt to the store and despite the "policy" on the website, they won't honor it. Why? First off, they say they have a five-day limit on retail match. When I called the store, the night before, they said one month. Web site doesn't specify a time period. So basically, they are making it up. But not saying so on the website. Also, the store staff says the competitor flyer is a "sale price" so they won't honor it. Now, getting past the concept that the reason a company sends promotional materials is because they are having a "sale", again, the Web site says something different -- special promotions, rebates, etc. are excluded. Not competitor sale prices. I wouldn't have a beef if they just said, "we don't have any meaningful retail price match." But that's not what their own site says. To their credit, the site says the manager has final decision making on price match. That is true, and could be reduced to "buyer beware." read more

Love this place. We went yesterday for the black friday sales. Unlike other stores it was well staffed and everyone was friendly. We just looked around mostly but love all of the store fixtures and things to see. Parking was a hassle but given what day it was not bad. read more

Was ready to buy a gun, one of 2 I had researched and talked w a trainer at a shooting range who also served in Vietnam Nam. He told me not to let anyone tell me a .22 is not what I want or will not do me any good. A .22 will do plenty of damage and more than a 9mm going thru and thru. I'm a female, real estate agent and a great shot. Needing to scare off someone and shoot at shorter range if need be. I told the big guy behind counter that I wanted to look at 22 hand guns and ...(wanted to add a new Dillinger that can fit different barrels... but he was so rude and cut me off.) The guy behind the counter immediately said a 22 won't do me any good. I said I know what I want. He shook his head NO very condescendingly so I said Fine, I'll go somewhere else and buy it. NEVER will I step foot in a Cabela's again. From the other review in this Bridgeton store, I'm not the only one. I felt totally discriminated against being a female. Had that problem before when I needed a carburetor (and used to race cars. No customer support questions just made me instantly wrong. read more

I purchased a new Ruger pistol at Cabelas about a month ago. That transaction, while time consuming went OK. I was also interested in a WWII pistol I saw on the Cabelas Hazelwood website. The Gun Library didn't answer the telephone (and hasn't called me back three days after I left a message with a simple question and my cell number.) I decided to go there anyway to see a that particular pistol, which was shown as "available" on their website. I signed-up to see a clerk and waited 45 minutes on a Tuesday morning, including ten minutes when the only clerk working there went out for a smoke. When I finally was shown the pistol, it was not the one shown on the website and the clerk said "We must have sold that one" when I asked about the one pictured on the website. So I wasted a great deal of time only to find out the pistol on the website was not available. I checked the website later the next day and the particular pistol I wanted to see was still shown as available! Cabelas needs to keep the website up-to-date, hire enough clerks to help customers in a timely manner, answer the telephone and/or call back when a potential customer asks a question.
